for those wondering if the Rezound is worth it... - Thunderbolt General

Well, I got one today. haven't really done much with it yet but figured you'd at least like to know this....
performance-wise(navigation, app handling, etc)... it doesn't seem to be much faster then an overclocked TB.
"Beats By Dre" - the 'enhancements' only work with the stock Beats Music player, which is really just some cuatom EQ setting built into the app. I tested the headphones on the Rezound and on my Sansa Sandisk MP3 player w/ the EQ set the way I like it. the headphones ended up sounding better/louder on the Sansa as well as the bass hit harder.
and I have this delightful dead pixel on the screen(not to mention the buttons light up pink)
so obviously, there's no rush to upgrade your Thunderbolt yet(unless you fancy the pink)

This is good information since I just picked up my T-bolt last week for a whole lot less money than the Rezound. On a sad note, it got it's first scratch on it this morning as it flew under my seat from taking a curve too fast. Screen protector and case that I ordered two days ago is still in the mail.

I was in the store the other day and played with the Rezound. I agree that it is not much smoother than the TB when overclocked, and I personally have my doubts about Android's ability to utilize a dual core CPU period, so I was not expecting the performance to blow me away. Quadrant was similar to the performance of an OC thunderbolt as well. Again, cite the inability to use both cores efficiently. Quadrant does have quite a few flaws, but it was the best available given the circumstances.
All of that said, THE reason to own a Rezound without any doubt in my mind is the display. What I saw of the display thoroughly impressed me, the high PPI and clarity was pretty astounding.
So, if I bought one and had a dead pixel I would be really, really pissed and demand a refurb or take it back in the 14 day grace period, because thats like buying a benz and finding out its a body kit on a honda.

Take it back point out flaw demand another new phone.once you get past 14 days your screwed with remans

Dead pixels,something other then cosmetic

It is running good and I am getting good battery life after some adjustments, so I don't have anything to complain about, except for my stupidity. I have read where some people have had problems with the finish peeling on the kickstand. They just polished it off, so I may end up doing that later.

Actually you have till Jan. To return it if you bought it after Nov 15th.

Ive honestly havent heard anything spectacular, thanks for backing it up!

I just got my Thunderbolt a few weeks back to replace my battle hardened Droid X. I have to say that the Thunderbolt is very smooth and fast. This is the first time I decided not to go with a phone on its release date to save money in awhile. My only complaint is battery life but I just ordered the Rezound battery for $20 from Verizon. We'll see how that does.

After a week my phone has not had any problems and there is nothing wrong with my screen. The system runs much smoother and faster because of the extra available memory and dual processor. The audio is a lot better. Once all the bloatware is gone it should be blazing fast and you should have close to 500mgs free memory. I never had any problems with my TBolt , but I really think this is a great phone and a good upgrade. When it's rooted the sky's the limit.

I'm slightly disappointed in the Thunderbolt

I had a Droid Incredible before my Thunderbolt. My girl now has my Incredible and, when she has any problems with it, I really enjoy picking up that phone to help, fix, or change some things for her. I miss my Incredible.
Sure, the Thunderbolt's larger screen is nicer and easier to look at in many respects, but the Incredible fits nicely in my hands. I never use protective covers, cases, or films... and I never will. That's just how I roll. I was able to flip the Incredible around and maneuver it in my hand like Tom Cruise handles liqueur bottles in 'Cocktail.' Sorry for the cheesy movie analogy. I feel clumsy with the Thunderbolt and I find myself grasping it tighter out of fear of it jumping out of my hands.
The power button and volume rocker is on the opposite side which is tough to get accustomed to. I understand that's because of the kickstand and maybe it's more ergonomically correct for right handed people. I don't know if the old way caters to us left-handed, left-eared people better or not, but that's what I was used to.
I really miss the AMOLED screen of the Incredible. When it's sunny out, I find it just as difficult to see the Thunderbolt's display, so that's a non-issue for me. I just REALLY miss the contrast, pop, and vibrant colors of the AMOLED. AMOLED's refresh rate doesn't leave fading gray trails when scrolling fine black lines or text like LCDs do. If I didn't love HTC and Sense so much, I would opt for a Samsung, but I'm too stubborn and I have succumbed to brand loyalty.
I see hints of the performance gain in the MSM8655 of the Thunderbolt vs the QSD8650 in the Incredible, especially with the newer Adreno graphics... but I'm not impressed at all. Honestly, I can't stand how choppy some of the Sense graphics are; for example, text message and email scrolling, and the notoriously clunky app drawer for Sense hurt my eyes sometimes. I have the Warm Z TwoPointTwo ROM on the Incredible and it seems to perform better, especially in those respects, than the Thunderbolt. And that's with the stock HTC kernel on the Incredible. Of course, actual benchmarks would beg to differ.
The Thunderbolt has 4g... and that's why I won't trade with my girlfriend. So far, my best upload and download speeds have been 44Mb/s and 19Mb/s respectively. I even get better overall reception (including LTE) at home with the Thunderbolt than the Incredible or any other Verizon phone, which would often drop calls unless we stood next to a window when I'm at home. I also think, as time goes on, the ROMs will get better, smoother, faster, and more stable for the Thunderbolt. I'm having trouble finding just the right skin, theme, and ROM for the Thunderbolt. I've tried BAMF Remixed, Thunder, and now I'm on VirusROM. I just need to learn some patience. Maybe Warm Z TwoPointTwo will come to Thunderbolt. I love that ROM.
Until then, I'll just continue to find reasons to spend some quality time with my old pal, Incredible. I know I just need to quit cold-turkey... rip it off like a band-aid... but it's so difficult when I still share the same home with that phone.
No choppiness here.
None. Not overclocked either.
I hate that the placement of the volume rocker. I feel the same way you do about your incredible as I did about my G2. I had the G2 for a month before I sold it. I miss the G2, but really do like the Thunderbolt.

I do and have had for a while. Email scrolling, web surfing and XDA App. Doesn't matter what kernel whether it is normal, under volted etc... I also have short freezing while typing on both text and email. Two full wipes and no change. The freezing kinda reminds me of the way my Facinate acted on stock 2.1
I wish I knew why this is happening. : (

I've never experienced the issues you outlined about the screen. Perhaps yours is defective?
Maybe the incredible 2 would have been a better choice for you?
I also came from an incredible to the tbolt because i had dropped my Dinc and the screen was shattered 60 feet to the concrete will so do that...lol and the insurance no longer has the inc. So they offered me a droid x and i fought with him to get the tbolt and i miss my old inc:.. lolI hope myn warm comes to the tbolt

Are you talking about the gray fade on scrolling? It's barely noticeable. I'm a perfectionist. Because I liked my Incredible so much, I'm likely blowing any flaws out of proportion.

I was thinking about it... but since I was using up an upgrade discount, I wanted to make sure the phone was drastically different. Bigger screen and, of course, 4g. The Incredible 2 would have only been an upgrade in the chipset... and maybe a couple other things I don't really care about. As far as I know, it doesn't have AMOLED, either.
Don't get me wrong, though. I do love the Thunderbolt. I just wanted to rant about the little nuances after having the Incredible for a year.
The four capacitive back-lit buttons on the Thunderbolt are dimmer and have spotty hotspots compared to the Incredible, too. Just thought I'd throw that in there.
I got all those issues he mentioned. I believe that htc will release a fw upgrade to ease some of those issues. There's more issues on top of those too like not being able to talk when plugged into a stereo with audio Jack. Something that is possible on the dinc. Sometimes when exiting apps it takes me to app drawer instead of default home screen. And the most annoying work the stock sms app not giving me the option to send without saving as a draft first. Htc can't allow that to linger. Ill be damned if I'm the only one having those issues. But I'm still in love with the phone. The button orientation takes some getting used to but ill get over it. And the lag with the sense widgets are tolerable. I've weaned away from launcherpro for a while but with those issues, I'm thinking about reusing it again. Its way faster than sense. I'm sure there can bea home replacement app that can satisfy us more than launcherpro go launcher & adw. One that will replicate some of sense 2.0 or even 3.0 features. I've been convinced so after trying out Regina launcher.

Battery is definitely better in the Thunderbolt. I use my old TP2 battery (1500mA) in the Incredible and battery life is tolerable. The AMOLED screen could be to blame for some battery issues.
I use your your kernel with the Thunderbolt and battery life is quite good so far even though it's stock battery is 1400mA.
One thing I can say I'm looking forward to with the LCD screen vs AMOLED: I don't have to worry about burn-in (or burn-out, so to speak). I haven't had that problem on the Incredible but, eventually, it would happen.
I've been surprised with the Thunderbolt. I came from a Droid and then a Droid X and only bought the Thunderbolt because I wanted an upgrade to play with until the dual-core qHD's show up in the summer.
I still consider it to be a "hold-me-over" phone, and I expect the Bionic is going to be the likely replacement, but Thunderbolt has been very pleasing. The HTC build quality is good, and Sense is less maddening than Blur was, but in truth, we really aren't stuck with the junk the manufacturer puts on the phone so they don't really matter very much.
I didn't expect the Thunderbolt to be faster than the X. I expected the battery life to suck. I expected LTE to be marginal for me.
Well it is faster than the X--a lot faster. Perhaps it's RAM or perhaps the processor is just more advanced, but the difference is quite noticeable.
I also haven't had any problems with the battery, although I'm not a heavy user or a heavy talker. Battery life was acceptable before I started rooting and ROM'ing, and has been quite good since then
I don't get LTE at my home and I work from here, so I only see it once a week when I go down to Orlando to see my bro's, so it's still not a big deal to me now. But a year from now it will. Of course I'll be on the big powerhouse phone then, but whoever on my account gets the phone from me will appreciate it (probably my daughter).
Btw, does anyone realize how expensive a five-phone plan is with 2000 minutes and five smart phones? Yikes. I could cause Verizon to have a bad quarter by switching to AT&T with all the money I'm paying them. If I didn't care about my phone doing things like making calls and sending/receiving data, I might consider it.
I've looked at all those sexy phones coming in for T-Mo and AT&T and even Sprint, but I've been with Big Red for a lot of years now and I have faith they will bring the hardware this summer. They may never have the dominance they had last year, but they will be a player.
As for the Thunderbolt, it is an evolutionary phone, pushing yesterday's technology into a fully satisfactory form for today and doing a superb job of it. I'm glad I pulled the trigger on it, rather than waiting for the Charge or DInc2.

With the X you have to use Autokiller if your rooted so it doesn't lag, at least I did, and with autokiller the X was a hell of a phone. I finally found a rom (was released yesterday) for the TB that makes my TB run Better than my X.

Yea that's my only complaint as well. Then again the incredible's wasn't that great either my fav power buttons were droid and droid x.
The stock sms on the tbolt is horrible. It lags bad. It will gray out the send button mid text. Every other text is failed and have to resend. The word suggestion covers up the message text. The whole design is not very user friendly in my own opinion. But...other than the sms my tbolt is great. And handcent took care of the crappy messaging.

I came from an Incredible also. I don't miss it. Once I saw the size of the TBolt screen I was sold.

Atrix or Infuse? Anybody switched between them?

I'm coming from Captivate and just got my hands on Atrix and first thing which I noticed how washed out colors looks like on Atrix. It appears like somebody added 3 screen protectors on top of Amoled screen the way Atrix screen looks compared to Captivate.
Another thing I'm trying to figure out is according to some links there is different speeds for 4G on Infuse and 4G on Atrix. According to URL below it's looks like Infuse 2x faster on 4G then Atrix.
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/Samsung-Infuse-4G,Motorola-ATRIX-4G/phones/5119,4982
Secondly it appears both front and back cameras are better on Infuse which matters for me.
So wondering if somebody made a switch from Atrix to Infuse and found those things are true and were worth switching over?
I owned the Atrix for about 25 days. Pros: battery life (easily lasted me 18 hours with heavy usage), dual core (it was very smooth and played games very well), reslution (liked the fact that had more space on my screen cause of the resolution), speaker (very nice and loud) Cons: screen (looked dull), cameras (pics looked pretty bad even under good lighting), power button (didn't like where it was positioned), calls (people had trouble hearing me constantly)
As for the infuse, I love it! I just wish it was dual core and had a battery size like the one on the Atrix.
I haven't switched nor am I. I personally don't think anyone would switch from infuse to atrix, solely on screen dementions alone. I've played with and watched good reviews on just about every phone there is, if your going to choose the atrix I recommend not playing with the infuse too much. I'm not knocking the device or anything I'm just saying the 4.5in screen is so sweet everything else seems like a child's toy, including my resent sail of my iphone 4. As far as specs and such go, I've watch a good video on the atrix, they were comparing speed between the atrix and iphone 3gs (yes I said the 3gs) the atrix produced spotty results, and it came second to the iphone on quite a few occations. If you're up for contract I recommend buying at bestbuy, purchase one of the 2, play with it, if you'd like just exchange it and beat the restock fee that att inplies.

I just went through this last week. I had the infuse, and second guessed myself, returned it, got an Atrix, and within 2 days, i brought the phone back, and re-bought an Infuse.
The atrix is the WORST phone experience i have ever had. The screen looks like crap, even though it is higher res. it took like 2 seconds for the screen to come on from sleep at times, and the dual core doesn't really mean anything, unless you care about high linpack scores... The real life experience is far better on the Infuse. Everything downloaded and loaded faster on Infuse, over Atrix.
As for the camera, I couldn't for the life of me get a decent looking picture on the Atrix, whereas the Infuse takes great looking pictures. Also the LED flash on the infuse is whiter light... not that yellow crap on the atrix.
My advice, after owning both? Get rid of that ****rix and get yourself a real phone, INFUSE!
on paper the atrix looks like a great device. i was excited for it's release because it was one of the first major dual core phones, with a **** ton of memory. but it still wasnt enough to pull me away from my iphone 3gs.
and now here i am..
I agree with Hoofado I did the same thing and lost $35 bought it back. Atrix is the worst screen ever on any android phones I had. And I had almost all the best ones. INFUSE IS BEST.
SAMOLED
Atrix has issues rebooting randomly, which started happening for me right before I took it back. Get the Infuse. Miles above the Atrix.

+1. The reboots and the fact tethering worked maybe half the time caused me to return my Atrix within a month of buying it.
And I'm not sure what screens Motorola is using these days, but the screen on the Droid X2 is equally awful (yellow and green tones look terrible). Screen on my sister's original Droid X however looks great.

I was stuck between atrix, inspire and infuse. But I ruled out the inspire because its the older of the 3. I bought the infuse and placed my iPhone 4 for sale on eBay and, Craigslist. Someone wanted to trade me an atrix for my phone, which I was going to do but someone bid and won my iPhone on eBay for $460. I'm glad I didn't trade after all, I watched a bunch of videos and it seemed it wasn't as good as it was supposed to be. The next day I found an inspire on Craigslist for $250, I bought it for $200 and gave it to my gf to use until she upgrades. But for what I can tell it seems like a great phone, it hads a great camera (no ffc tho) a real nice screen, the battery seems fine over here (way better than our back up captivate. Its pretty heavy tho. I would recommended the inspire.

I had the Atrix before getting the Infuse and I like the infuse by far better. Yes the Atrix has better specs on paper but in reality they aren't that much difference between them in terms of speed especially when using Infused rom. As someone said earlier, the Atrix camera is terrible and it had way too many bugs. Plus I love that you can put custom roms and kernals and you cannot on the Atrix (yet).

I switched from the ****rix... i mean atrix. it has a lot of issues going for it. wake up lag, lag, random reboots. even thought it is a dual core phone, it really utilizes one core.
Im happy with my Infuse. best phone i've had that hasnt give me bull.
I have both the Atrix and the Infuse, I like the vibrant screen on the Infuse. I tend to use the Infuse more, only switching to the Atrix when updates are released..
I have both atrix and infuse also and i love the atrix but i have made it my back up because no matter how much i try i have got spoiled by the infuse screen size and just feels awkward when i switch back ......lol
my brother has an atrix. its a great phone, and he would prefer it to mine. they are just two different phones for two different people. he likes a smaller phone. it has a fingerprint reader, a faster processor, a higher resolution screen, and a bigger battery. the infuse has better cameras, a higher contrast screen, and its thinner. whatever matters to you more, get it.
btw g1g, i see in your signature, you are awaiting an unlocked bootloader for the atrix. go to their development forum and look for pudding. its the unlocked bootloader. theres still really no roms for the atrix but that will let you flash the semi-broken gingerbread rom.
I personally enjoy taking trips to att stores and bringing my laptop to root and fix up the atrix, which is a huge paper weight in the end, sorry to be harsh but trust me. I've put CM7 on my friends infuse and it isn't a bad phone, far better than the atrix imho, cappy still the best phone, hoping things will actually go right in July and by the end of it I'll be with a cappy and a Galaxy S II, if so I'd wait on that for july, heavy emphasis leaning on the infuse vs the atrix

From captivate to gs2, my experience

Thought I would share my thoughts on the new gs2 after coming from the captivate for those thinking of upgrading.
Ok, So Ive been waiting for some time, impatiently, to upgrade to gs2, I do like waiting till phones are at or near free, so when I found out I could trade in my captivate at tartget for 60 bucks credit and get the gs2 in my hands right there for 40 more I jumped at it. 40 is cheap enough
So first thing I noticed was that screen seemed quite a bit more vivid. I mean the colors jump out at you. I love this screen. Coupled with gorilla glass, you just cant beat it. Retina what?
Next thing i realized, is I have small thumbs. This screen is a bit bigger, and i found it uncomfartable to reach much of the sceen with my not so flexable thumbs. I almost have to use 2 hands to use this phone. Not the phones fault, as Im sure those blessed with long nimble thumbs have no problem.
the phone is quite a bit faster than the captivate, but not so much that I want to do backflips or anything. Scrolling is mostly smooth, but I do still notice a stutter here and there. Games play perfectly, plenty of power for even the most demanding games like ShadowGun-as expected.
Phone call quality is decent. However, if you use your gs2 with a case, you may want to do some research before buying one. I bought a case day1. people kept telling me I sounded muffled, and there was an echo for them. I heard them just fine. So I started searching the internets and come to find out, its a common problem. A design flaw. When you remove the case all is fine. But with it on problem comes back. Some case are worse. some are better.
I am running a custom rom, however the Roms arent yet on par with captivate ones. On the positive side, you dont have to choose between Audience chip support or more features. However, there is no stock ics roms yet only ported with soft keys mapped to touchscreen as work around for missing support for them. The GB roms run great, but have less features than captivate roms such as exra lockscreens or extra extended power menu options.
I like the camera, but I cant seem to figure out how to zoom in. The rom Im running has modded the camera so that thevolume rocker takes picture.
Battery life for me has not been super great, but thats probably because I cant keep my hands off it.
Gps is one of the two main reasons i wanted to upgrade, and man I tell you it works 1000 times better than the captivate. I mean it actually works.
The other reason(excuse) for upgrading was the flash. It works very well. It boggles my mind that a phone can be such a good camera. And now I even have flash. Beautiful.
Not only is the flash useful for taking pics, but with a custom rom, I have a notification toggle to turn on the flash light to see in the dark and WOW is it bright.
Im definatly going to keep this thing. The positives way outnumber the negatives. Im really liking it especially the screen. For the hell of it I put an aquarium live walpaper on and the colors are so crisp and vivid I just sit there staring at it. I want to show every1, especially iphone users
I hope this review helps anyone thinking of making the switch.
Thanks I still have to wait till November to upgrade, by then I will be looking at the galaxy s 3!

the phone is quite a bit faster than the captivate, but not so much that I want to do backflips or anything.

I just got my sgs2 as well and I love it. It amazes me that the phone is barely wider than the captivate. Having a big hand, its easy for me to hold and use.
This is probably better to ask over there but what rom and modem did you use? I found kk6 people sound muffled but KH7 sounds great.
I picked up a TPU case for 10 bucks that fits the phone like a glove just like otter box on the captivate, only thing I had to do was widen the USB area so I can plug on USB cable easier. No issues with the mic and no complaints from callers.
Battery life has been superb for me. My captivate on cm9 with anker battery was the only way to compete. I get typically 3 hours of screen and two hours of calls before draining.
Pinch to zoom in the camera if your using a modded camera. Stock uses the volume rocker.
I love the sgs2, I was waiting for sgs3 announcement but I'm glad I got this phone in the mean time.

you have to pinch to zoom on the screen when taking pictures to get it to zoom.
Ha! Thanks for the zoom tip! Awesome.
And I'm shostock ROM and beforeI found out that it was my case causing my issues, I flashed kh7 from kk6 no problems so far.
Using entropys latest kernel.
Funny thing is when I got the phone I decided I wasn't going to flash a ROM for at least a week just to see how stock feels. I didn't even make it 24 hours
One other thing to note that is obvious is that the back cover is not metal like on the captivate and there's no latching Mechanism like on the captivate. When the covers on it feels very sturdy no problems there. Taking it on and off , it feels a little bit cheap. It seems like it may wear out in time so if you're using an extra battery that may be a problem.
Rock out with your Shostock out
Great review! I am finally up for a new phone and was thinking of switching the the SGS2.
It's either the SGS2 or Asus Padfone (I'm really hoping this comes out for ATT).
Thanks to your review I will most likely get the SGS2 if the Padfone doesn't come out to ATT.
thanks for the review...id love an sgs2 but since i am with rogers canada they have the skyrocket....and from what ive read its not quite on par with the sgs2 from att/bell/telus. im either waiting on the sgs3 or maybe the razr maxx if rogers gets it.
heres hopin! rockin the cappy for a few more months anyway!

I wanted to run stock when my phone first arrived just to get a feel for it... that lasted maybe 5 minutes before it was rooted and bloat removed. So I thought after that, I'll see how stock runs... 20 minutes later I was on SHOstock! Running UnOriginal last few days and it has been great!

I just got my SGS2 today, bought it from Ebay to replace my dear captivate... It's an amazing phone to say the least.
I'm really satisfied with my purchase, this phone flies and it's classy as heck.

Agreed the sgs2 is an awesome phone. The captivate was great in its day and still is in my opinion. I have both and i must say the sgs2 picked up where the captivate was lacking in every aspect. The only thing i miss is the development is not yet mature like it is here. But it is getting better by the day.
One last thing, the sgs2 is durable. Mine has taken several hard drops and one dunk in the tub. Its sill alive an good as new.

My Captivate fallen numerous times, I carry it in the pocket with my keys and it still looks like new.
I only have screen protector to avoid scratches.

Nice input... I'm upgrading in July and am torn between the note and the s2
Thanks for the review. Im actually up for an upgrade in less than a month. I am only considering the SGS2 (not the skyrocket). However, with the SGS3 seeming to be so close, is it worth it to wait for it? When it releases will we have to wait 4 months till ATT bakes their stuff in? I am torn between waiting for SGS3 and just flashing ICS on my cappy or just going for the SGS2
ICS kernel source dropped for the i9100 this morning so more roms for the SGS2 should be out soon in ICS flavor. Plus we have expanded and have two different forums for development now, Original development and ported development. Original is for roms created from stock source and ported for anything hellraised or ported manually from a i9100. The i9100 international version and i777 att SGS2 are even closer related than the comparison between i9000 and i897. With the hell raiser from Entropy ANYONE can easily port a i9100 Rom onto a i777.
Now onto whether to wait for the SGS3 is a question only each individual can answer. But the SGS2 is a very kickass phone and wont disappoint. It has everything our cappies were missing plus any/most all roms are super stable and speeds even at the stock 1.2 seem faster and smoother than my cappy at 1.2, 1.4, or 1.6ghz. Just a well made phone with great battery life, great camera, cannot think of one thing that really is bad. Oh ha gps works great too.

I had been wanting to upgrade to the SGS2 for a long time now (since it first came out on Rogers), but my next upgrade won't be until this November.
Should be plenty of time for Rogers to get the SGS3, right?

I work right next door to a rogers store. If I hear word of the sgIII. You'll be seeing a post here. I would consider the switch. For now the captivate has been an incredible phone.

Ok well here's my advice (take it with a grain of salt if you will but this is what I would do if I was in your shoes):
Install CM9 on my Cappy w/ Glitch B5 and overclock it to 1.4Ghz. Then I'd just hold it out until the GS3 comes out.
Problem solved! Patience is a virtue, my friend
In case anyone's planning on giving up on the GS3 and go with the 2, AT&T has them for $9.99 now... personally, I'm planning on waiting it out a bit and see what comes available in the next couple of months. Should be completely out of my contact by then and will be able to switch carriers if there's a better deal to be had somewhere else.

keep droid charge or trade for rezound

So recently I was offered to trade my droid charge for a rezound should I do it?

I think the rezound is a better phone than the charge. Faster, newer, higher video resolution, more ram etc.. The only thing doesn't have is the hdmi output (I don't use this at all..only for testing) and shorter battery life than the Charge. So yeah! I would take the rezound.
specs-wise the rezound is a superior devise. I havent used it so i cant say for sure, but if i were given the option i would probably do it.

No I know a guy who wanted a amoled screen and had that phone and it does have hdmi out its a dual port usb and hdmi
My girlfriend just got the Rezound on Saturday and I'm super jealous. It's a kick ass phone in general, and they already have a really solid development community and they don't even have S-OFF yet. Dev on that phone is going to explode when S-OFF comes.
do the "beats" earbuds come with it? $100 value in those alone...
I say... go for it. If it's that much of a deal, you'd be a fool to pass it up.
You'd be getting a phone with more RAM (double the RAM of the Droid Charge), a dual-core CPU, and a better GPU. What more can be said?

I wouldn't pay .10 for Beats headphones. They sound awful...muddy and unlistenable. I listened to my gf's after she got the phone, then I plugged in my Skullcandy Titans and listened to them...the Titans have just as much bass as the Beats, but they have a lot more balance in the treble and mids. The Beats are nothing but bass.

If you don't do it, then refer that guy to me and I'll do the trade with him.
Rezound is awesome no doubt. My wife has one. But the battery life is horrendous without rooting it and maybe changing the rom. My wife uses hers minimally but the phone's power and resources eat up battery life.
Still love the Charge. I haven't had issues like a lot of people have had when it was stock or during root phase, and/or upgrading to a custom rom.
Need help? http://www.toms-world.org/android/ flash to EP4D, make ClockworkMod Recovery stick, step by step root. Best step by step instructions for the Droid Charge.

ya resale is what i was thinking.... i got the beat buds when they first came out and it wasn't long before i was extremely disappointed and went back to the bose.
I've tried alot of the roms which are awsome and phone works good for a while then slows down which it does with any rom. Fp1 is a huge improvement but still slows down in random spots and drops data for no reason. And gps sucks still sometimes 5 seconds but all too often im sitting in my car or outside waiting for it to lock for 5 min even when it shows 6 satellites. Its been fun but I think its time to move on. Going to miss the screen and the awsome community

so just got the rezound and wow its fast. My biggest gripe was the gps on the charge and its like insta lock with the rezound and the altitude is right!! The biggest thing about making the switch is its definitely going to take some time to get used to the screen the colors look more realistic then the charge but I keep going back to the charges screen and saying wow because everything just pops. The rezound has a 720p screen which is nice and now I notice all the pixels on the charge lol. overall I think ill be very happy with the rezound. Thanks everyone for your advice
Some other things i notice the camera on the rezound is amazing and super fast i would say faster than the charge. The screen is harder to view in the sunlight vs the charge I might fix that with a screen protector but not sure yet. I do like sense now that i have had some time to get used to it. gonna miss that amoled screen but not the slow ass gps lock

Anybody upgrade from the atrix? If so worth it or not

I'm upgrading to a white HTC one x from the original Motorola attic and was wondering if there are other users around that have done the same thing.

Yes, I did, and Yes, it's totally worth it, even with the locked bootloader.
yes.
I actually still have my Atrix. I have owned it the longest out of all smartphones I have ever had and its hard to give it up . With that said, I will be putting it up for sale soon and I feel the One X, even with locked bootloader intact, will be worth my while.... for the time being.
yes. it's a great upgrade from the pentile crap screen on the atrix. and best of all LTE is just great.
I do miss the compact size, the plethora of accessories, removable battery, unlocked bootloader, fingerprint reader, etc. etc. The atrix is still a super fast phone... CM9 runs super smooth. but i guess it's time has passed, and now is a dedicated gps device for my car lol.
The original Atrix? Got one. This thing is so far ahead of it, it's not even a valid comparison. Camera and display about 500x better. Much faster phone, and ICS to boot. To me it also handles better.
I'm upgrading tonight to the white one X but think I will keep the atrix to use as a mp3 player for the gym and maybe a few other things here and there. I find it hard to give up the atrix because of how amazing the Dev. Community is.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
also went from an Atrix to HOX. used the Atrix for a year and change..the battery while great, was starting to lose some of its ability to hold a charge, the camera sucked, and the screen wasn't the greatest. HOX is a major upgrade, if not only for the camera and ICS
My last phone was the Original Atrix.
Better screen, better design, faster, better cam, LTE. It's a no brainer.
I'm coming from the Atrix too. HOX is fantastic and hoping that awesome devs like Notorious544d come over to HOX eventually (fingers crossed)!!!
I would be willing to put a little money down to bring him over
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
One X is best phone with best feature and design, best performance screen color is very bright and clear
But bad battery life, it drain fast with screen on like video playing or surfing internet but it is good when screen of as 3G talking upto 9 hours and 24mn and over while 4 hoursand 18mn for using internet and 5 hours and 45 mn for video play
I love my Atrix. It's fast, smooth, sturdy. I dropped it plenty of times w/o a case and it always booted back up after I popped the battery back in.
HOX is a worthy upgrade because of the amazing scree, fast camera, and ICS. It's thinner too.
We have an atrix family here. Lol
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
yes, get the one x. for me, the screen on the one x was enough for me to spend the money to get it. i couldnt stand the screen on the atrix... too small and the colors seemed washed out to me
I came from the atrix as well! Main concerns going into it were battery life and lack of expandable memory. Lack of THD games didn't matter as most of them are garbage. The upgrade was genuinely worth it and battery life seems to be about the same if not better. Absolutely happy I upgraded!
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I'm going to have to agree that it's worth it. The screen was a big reason for my switching. Any big flaws the HOX has are software, which means one way or another they will be fixed.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I got the Atrix....but Im waiting for the S3. However, I convinced my girl to upgrade to the HOX from the i4
Sent from my MB860 using XDA
I'm going to have to chime in here as well. Just sold my atrix to my buddy. I had it for about 8 months which is an eternity for me with phones. It was an awesome phone but I was due for an upgrade and couldn't pass up the one x. A few things coming from an atrix running neutrino ee: Battery life..I thought it was excellent on my atrix (20+ hours easy) and after rooting and freezing some apps with tibu I'm happy to say its the same if not better. The kicker is disabling auto brightness and auto sync. I just check my Gmail manually every hour or two. Build quality..Makes the atrix look and feel like a toy. Screen..No contest lol. Honestly all that I miss from my atrix is the fp scanner, and I seem to be the minority on that one but it was awesome and worked flawlessly for me. My only hardware qualm with the one x is the led light. Its tiny and only does red, green and maybe orange? I was spoiled by having green for texts, blue for Gmail and lime green for everything else. Honestly that's all I miss. The one x is superior in every other way, now if only we can get this fn bootloader unlocked and "persuade" notorious to bring us some neutrino goodness.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I upgraded from a Atrix and it is a huge upgrade. I was actually expecting better battery life but it is pretty much the same. The screen though is way better looking. I didn't think that would be a big deal until I got it and saw just how much prettier it is. And the camera on my phone takes better pictures then cameras of my families that they paid 200+ less than a year ago and is a definite upgrade over the Atrix one. Its sadly only slightly more smooth - it has fewer hiccups but it still does have some - but the next update will hopefully make it even better
