Anybody upgrade from the atrix? If so worth it or not - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I'm upgrading to a white HTC one x from the original Motorola attic and was wondering if there are other users around that have done the same thing.

Yes, I did, and Yes, it's totally worth it, even with the locked bootloader.

yes.

I actually still have my Atrix. I have owned it the longest out of all smartphones I have ever had and its hard to give it up . With that said, I will be putting it up for sale soon and I feel the One X, even with locked bootloader intact, will be worth my while.... for the time being.

yes. it's a great upgrade from the pentile crap screen on the atrix. and best of all LTE is just great.
I do miss the compact size, the plethora of accessories, removable battery, unlocked bootloader, fingerprint reader, etc. etc. The atrix is still a super fast phone... CM9 runs super smooth. but i guess it's time has passed, and now is a dedicated gps device for my car lol.

The original Atrix? Got one. This thing is so far ahead of it, it's not even a valid comparison. Camera and display about 500x better. Much faster phone, and ICS to boot. To me it also handles better.

I'm upgrading tonight to the white one X but think I will keep the atrix to use as a mp3 player for the gym and maybe a few other things here and there. I find it hard to give up the atrix because of how amazing the Dev. Community is.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2

also went from an Atrix to HOX. used the Atrix for a year and change..the battery while great, was starting to lose some of its ability to hold a charge, the camera sucked, and the screen wasn't the greatest. HOX is a major upgrade, if not only for the camera and ICS

My last phone was the Original Atrix.
Better screen, better design, faster, better cam, LTE. It's a no brainer.

I'm coming from the Atrix too. HOX is fantastic and hoping that awesome devs like Notorious544d come over to HOX eventually (fingers crossed)!!!

I would be willing to put a little money down to bring him over

One X is best phone with best feature and design, best performance screen color is very bright and clear
But bad battery life, it drain fast with screen on like video playing or surfing internet but it is good when screen of as 3G talking upto 9 hours and 24mn and over while 4 hoursand 18mn for using internet and 5 hours and 45 mn for video play

I love my Atrix. It's fast, smooth, sturdy. I dropped it plenty of times w/o a case and it always booted back up after I popped the battery back in.
HOX is a worthy upgrade because of the amazing scree, fast camera, and ICS. It's thinner too.

We have an atrix family here. Lol
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2

yes, get the one x. for me, the screen on the one x was enough for me to spend the money to get it. i couldnt stand the screen on the atrix... too small and the colors seemed washed out to me

I came from the atrix as well! Main concerns going into it were battery life and lack of expandable memory. Lack of THD games didn't matter as most of them are garbage. The upgrade was genuinely worth it and battery life seems to be about the same if not better. Absolutely happy I upgraded!
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA

I'm going to have to agree that it's worth it. The screen was a big reason for my switching. Any big flaws the HOX has are software, which means one way or another they will be fixed.

I got the Atrix....but Im waiting for the S3. However, I convinced my girl to upgrade to the HOX from the i4

I'm going to have to chime in here as well. Just sold my atrix to my buddy. I had it for about 8 months which is an eternity for me with phones. It was an awesome phone but I was due for an upgrade and couldn't pass up the one x. A few things coming from an atrix running neutrino ee: Battery life..I thought it was excellent on my atrix (20+ hours easy) and after rooting and freezing some apps with tibu I'm happy to say its the same if not better. The kicker is disabling auto brightness and auto sync. I just check my Gmail manually every hour or two. Build quality..Makes the atrix look and feel like a toy. Screen..No contest lol. Honestly all that I miss from my atrix is the fp scanner, and I seem to be the minority on that one but it was awesome and worked flawlessly for me. My only hardware qualm with the one x is the led light. Its tiny and only does red, green and maybe orange? I was spoiled by having green for texts, blue for Gmail and lime green for everything else. Honestly that's all I miss. The one x is superior in every other way, now if only we can get this fn bootloader unlocked and "persuade" notorious to bring us some neutrino goodness.

I upgraded from a Atrix and it is a huge upgrade. I was actually expecting better battery life but it is pretty much the same. The screen though is way better looking. I didn't think that would be a big deal until I got it and saw just how much prettier it is. And the camera on my phone takes better pictures then cameras of my families that they paid 200+ less than a year ago and is a definite upgrade over the Atrix one. Its sadly only slightly more smooth - it has fewer hiccups but it still does have some - but the next update will hopefully make it even better

Atrix or Infuse? Anybody switched between them?

I'm coming from Captivate and just got my hands on Atrix and first thing which I noticed how washed out colors looks like on Atrix. It appears like somebody added 3 screen protectors on top of Amoled screen the way Atrix screen looks compared to Captivate.
Another thing I'm trying to figure out is according to some links there is different speeds for 4G on Infuse and 4G on Atrix. According to URL below it's looks like Infuse 2x faster on 4G then Atrix.
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/Samsung-Infuse-4G,Motorola-ATRIX-4G/phones/5119,4982
Secondly it appears both front and back cameras are better on Infuse which matters for me.
So wondering if somebody made a switch from Atrix to Infuse and found those things are true and were worth switching over?
I owned the Atrix for about 25 days. Pros: battery life (easily lasted me 18 hours with heavy usage), dual core (it was very smooth and played games very well), reslution (liked the fact that had more space on my screen cause of the resolution), speaker (very nice and loud) Cons: screen (looked dull), cameras (pics looked pretty bad even under good lighting), power button (didn't like where it was positioned), calls (people had trouble hearing me constantly)
As for the infuse, I love it! I just wish it was dual core and had a battery size like the one on the Atrix.
I haven't switched nor am I. I personally don't think anyone would switch from infuse to atrix, solely on screen dementions alone. I've played with and watched good reviews on just about every phone there is, if your going to choose the atrix I recommend not playing with the infuse too much. I'm not knocking the device or anything I'm just saying the 4.5in screen is so sweet everything else seems like a child's toy, including my resent sail of my iphone 4. As far as specs and such go, I've watch a good video on the atrix, they were comparing speed between the atrix and iphone 3gs (yes I said the 3gs) the atrix produced spotty results, and it came second to the iphone on quite a few occations. If you're up for contract I recommend buying at bestbuy, purchase one of the 2, play with it, if you'd like just exchange it and beat the restock fee that att inplies.

I just went through this last week. I had the infuse, and second guessed myself, returned it, got an Atrix, and within 2 days, i brought the phone back, and re-bought an Infuse.
The atrix is the WORST phone experience i have ever had. The screen looks like crap, even though it is higher res. it took like 2 seconds for the screen to come on from sleep at times, and the dual core doesn't really mean anything, unless you care about high linpack scores... The real life experience is far better on the Infuse. Everything downloaded and loaded faster on Infuse, over Atrix.
As for the camera, I couldn't for the life of me get a decent looking picture on the Atrix, whereas the Infuse takes great looking pictures. Also the LED flash on the infuse is whiter light... not that yellow crap on the atrix.
My advice, after owning both? Get rid of that ****rix and get yourself a real phone, INFUSE!
on paper the atrix looks like a great device. i was excited for it's release because it was one of the first major dual core phones, with a **** ton of memory. but it still wasnt enough to pull me away from my iphone 3gs.
and now here i am..
I agree with Hoofado I did the same thing and lost $35 bought it back. Atrix is the worst screen ever on any android phones I had. And I had almost all the best ones. INFUSE IS BEST.

Atrix has issues rebooting randomly, which started happening for me right before I took it back. Get the Infuse. Miles above the Atrix.

+1. The reboots and the fact tethering worked maybe half the time caused me to return my Atrix within a month of buying it.
And I'm not sure what screens Motorola is using these days, but the screen on the Droid X2 is equally awful (yellow and green tones look terrible). Screen on my sister's original Droid X however looks great.

The inspire is a good phone, the only thing is the battery. That thing can't last half a day without charging. That's with very light usage. A 1230mAh battery is just cruel on a person. Great phone, crudy battery. That's what turned turned me away from the inspire

I was stuck between atrix, inspire and infuse. But I ruled out the inspire because its the older of the 3. I bought the infuse and placed my iPhone 4 for sale on eBay and, Craigslist. Someone wanted to trade me an atrix for my phone, which I was going to do but someone bid and won my iPhone on eBay for $460. I'm glad I didn't trade after all, I watched a bunch of videos and it seemed it wasn't as good as it was supposed to be. The next day I found an inspire on Craigslist for $250, I bought it for $200 and gave it to my gf to use until she upgrades. But for what I can tell it seems like a great phone, it hads a great camera (no ffc tho) a real nice screen, the battery seems fine over here (way better than our back up captivate. Its pretty heavy tho. I would recommended the inspire.

I had the Atrix before getting the Infuse and I like the infuse by far better. Yes the Atrix has better specs on paper but in reality they aren't that much difference between them in terms of speed especially when using Infused rom. As someone said earlier, the Atrix camera is terrible and it had way too many bugs. Plus I love that you can put custom roms and kernals and you cannot on the Atrix (yet).

I switched from the ****rix... i mean atrix. it has a lot of issues going for it. wake up lag, lag, random reboots. even thought it is a dual core phone, it really utilizes one core.
Im happy with my Infuse. best phone i've had that hasnt give me bull.
I have both the Atrix and the Infuse, I like the vibrant screen on the Infuse. I tend to use the Infuse more, only switching to the Atrix when updates are released..
I have both atrix and infuse also and i love the atrix but i have made it my back up because no matter how much i try i have got spoiled by the infuse screen size and just feels awkward when i switch back ......lol
my brother has an atrix. its a great phone, and he would prefer it to mine. they are just two different phones for two different people. he likes a smaller phone. it has a fingerprint reader, a faster processor, a higher resolution screen, and a bigger battery. the infuse has better cameras, a higher contrast screen, and its thinner. whatever matters to you more, get it.
btw g1g, i see in your signature, you are awaiting an unlocked bootloader for the atrix. go to their development forum and look for pudding. its the unlocked bootloader. theres still really no roms for the atrix but that will let you flash the semi-broken gingerbread rom.
I personally enjoy taking trips to att stores and bringing my laptop to root and fix up the atrix, which is a huge paper weight in the end, sorry to be harsh but trust me. I've put CM7 on my friends infuse and it isn't a bad phone, far better than the atrix imho, cappy still the best phone, hoping things will actually go right in July and by the end of it I'll be with a cappy and a Galaxy S II, if so I'd wait on that for july, heavy emphasis leaning on the infuse vs the atrix

[Q] opinions wanted on Nexus/Rezound etc??

I need to buy a new 4G phone soon.
My Wife needs a phone (she does not have data now but wants it) & we don't want to miss the temporary 4G for 2G tiered price deal.
I figured I would buy the Galaxy Nexus if/when it ever comes out. I have both an upgrade available & a couple hundred dollars in credit from VZ.
I will probably buy from BestBuy so I can get the 30 day return/exchange policy. Right now, I have a Charge running 2.3.6 GB, imoseyon 4.0, fuju tweaks, Launcher Pro Plus, coredroid theme etc.etc.etc.
My Charge flies (2400 in Quadrant) & I absolutely LOVE the thing (no lag whatever, not a single FC etc.). With the camera button mod, it is almost the perfect phone IMHO. This makes it tough to decide what to do as I figured I would give my Wife the Charge & buy the GN for myself (the Wife could care less which one she has).
My problem is, my Boss just bought a Rezound & with all the bloatware removed it is an AWESOME phone. I am now tempted to buy that instead of the GN. The Rezound has a jaw-dropping screen with its better rez than the iphone. It is fast as hell (especially after I installed LPP+) & should be rooted sometime in the next few weeks. Not everybody likes it, but I'm no audiophile & I think the beats sound is really a plus for listening to it all day at work.
I am looking for peoples opinion of the Rezound. It already has an extended battery & cover available (I love this with my Charge) & definitely has a few advantages over the GN. I do wish the screen was slightly bigger but it is what it is.
I may just buy the Rezound, & then if I don't like it hopefully by that time the GN will be out & I can swap the two.
Any opinions welcome, good or bad.
~John
In my opinion, go with the Nexus. You'll get constant updates and have more dev support than any other phone. I'm sure the screen will look great too.

I know you're right about the constant updates.
I'm not so sure about the screen. I am a little paranoid about a pentile screen, the guy at the desk next to mine has a Razr and I think the screen blows on that phone although I realize the GN is much higher rez.

Yeah, I haven't had the chance to see the RAZR yet. A buddy of mine is in the market to upgrade from his OG Droid and said the RAZR screen looked bad in person--he's waiting for the Nexus now.
I think you're going to have to do what he's doing, which is waiting for the Nexus to get in stores so he can see and play with one in person.

Some people may like the Razr screen, it is quite bright and saturated/colorful.
found this:
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/11/29/screen-comparison-galaxy-nexus-vs-droid-razr-vs-htc-rezound/
The lack of resolution is blatantly obvious to a lot of people (like me) however.
I had a Razr briefly, but hated the screen-lack of a removeable battery etc. (I have really been spoiled by the ridiculously good Charge screen) & passed the Razr on to a coworker. To me, it was really obvious that it was a pentile screen especially on text, straight lines, gradient screens etc etc etc
~John
You shouldn't worry about Pentile on GN as the high resolutions make it near impossible to see the pixels. As for Razr, I've played with the phone at the store, the Pentile is very visible (for me).

After some more comparison, I will definitely be waiting on the Nexus.
Comparing my Charge side by side with the Rezound, I just realized how much wider the Charge screen is. I really like the wider screen setup a LOT & the GN has the wider screen config also..
My old DroidX that I absolutely LOVED, had that same tall narrow config. That was really the only thing I didn't like about the X design.
I really like using portrait orientation a lot, & the skinny screen forces you to do a lot more side to side scrolling on internet sites etc. I just like the look of the shorter wider screens also, even if you disregard the functional issue.

+1 for Nexus.

if not Nexus I'd go with the Rezound... there's not much dev work on it because no s-off yet but the devs are close, also I like the screen and wouldn't mind Sense as an overlay (of course when custom ICS roms come out they'll be stock aosp), if the Nexus release is gonna take much longer or if its really gonna be 750+ off contract I'm just gonna hold out and probably go with the Rezound

Yeah I'm REALLY considering the Nexus myself. This was the best phone of the original 4G bunch, but the lack of dual core, ram and a higher resolution are leaving much to be desired. I really made up my mind when I saw the review on Phone Arena for the Nexus. I'm getting bored lately of Android in general (just a phase I go through about every 2 years with mobile OSes) and I think ICS would invigorate my desire to not jump back to Apple.
Getting the pure Google experience and knowing all the previous Nexus's have VERY strong communities is just another perk for me. I think the Rezound will turn into a Charge type of community later on in life, with rom releases getting farther and farther apart. Coming from an original Droid, seeing this community dry up hasn't been fun and I havent been able to load a new rom every week lol. It's just getting a bit stale lately for me.

I'm also in the waiting for a quad core, probably going to stick with HTC just for sense (email client is the ONLY one that forwards attachments, unless they fixed it in ICS)
Just got the Rezound a few days ago, and I couldn't be more happy. Unbelievably fast, plays back 1080p files that my Xoom won't even play. Better battery life and sound than the TB. The difference in build quality (fit in finish) couldn't be more pronounced. I owned two Thunderbolts (one replaced under warranty after a portion of the touch screen stopped working), which were, in my opinion, an aberration in terms of fit and finish for HTC.
I did spend some serious time with the Galaxy Nexus. In the end, knowing that ICS will be appearing on the Rezound (officially) soon enough, plus my love of Sense (3.5 in particular, which brings, among other things, internal storage plus SD card encryption, Exchange task syncing, superior camera app, etc.), a better camera, an expandable storage sold me on the Rezound. The $100 price cut and the excellent headphones didn't hurt either.
Wait for MWC

Definitely waiting for the quad core phones, hopefully a Tegra 3. It will be interesting to see how Samsung Exynos Quad and Apple A6 will compare in both processing power and graphics abilities.
I have had the Thunderbolt, Rezound, Galaxy Nexus and the Razr Maxx. Currently I am back on the Thunderbolt but of all the phones I am partial to the Razr Maxx. The phone just performs. It is the fastest Android phone that I have owned. The sound quality is awesome for both music and speaker phone. Call quality is the best I have encountered so far. Great connectivity and Blur really doesn't mess it up. Just my 2 cents.

http://www.cnet.com/8301-17918_1-57505476-85/leaked-htc-phone-could-flaunt-1080p-hd-display/
A new HTC smartphone has been revealed via GLBenchmark, a well-known site for device benchmarking.
The mystery device appears to be headed to Verizon to connect with the carrier's 4G LTE network.
More importantly, it packs a full-HD 1080p display and a new quad-core Snapdragon CPU capable of speeds that have never been achieved by the existing S4.
What is the DLX?
According to the GLBenchmark report, the new HTC phone could carry the code name "DLX."
Based on its model number HTC6435, though, it's likely to be a successor to the Verizon HTC Rezound model number HTC6425.
The Rezound was one of the first HTC smartphones with an HD display, so a follow-up with a full 1080p screen would be appropriate.
In fact, the HTC DLX (if that is its name) is equipped with a 1794x1080 display that - even if it includes space for on-screen buttons like other Android devices - could prove dazzling.
Besides the impressive screen resolution, the HTC DLX is powered by a quad core Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 chip with an Adreno 320 GPU, clocking in at 1.5 GHz, but this doesn't appear to be the standard S4 present in many other smartphones.
One source speculates that the new HTC Verizon phone could even be equipped with the new S4 MSM8960T chip due to the considerable power it displayed in Benchmark tests.
In the Egypt off-screen and pro off-screen tests, it scored well over 100 (121.1 and 110.5 FPS respectively), numbers that other phones can't come close to.
The new HTC DLX for Verizon and possible Rezound successor runs Android 4.0.4, according to the benchmark reports, and along with the gorgeous screen and impressive quad-core processor, those are all the known details.
Watch out for more updates on the mystery HTC Verizon phone as the companies prepare to reveal whatever it is.

Im always getting the newest phone. I love the s3, but im one of those "got to have the newest phone" guys. I find that its much easier to keep on top of the current tech if you are constantly switching out devices, of you wait a year, or 2 years, your device is worth nothing, and upgrading is expensive. I almost always make money when changing phones out.. so. ya.
anyway,
you are saying that article is about the galaxy s4? not the HTC?
nm, google is my friend.
Ironically, I'm kinda with you on that one. I usually have about a 3-6 month turn around on my phones. I don't mind having middle of the line or bottom of the line, but having SECOND frome top just makes me want the one on top that much more.

Really? HTC phones have always seemed much more solid devices to me. The s3 is plastic thin and cheap feeling. (it doesn't look cheap, just feels like it) the rezound feels like a solid chunk of phone.

Yeah, it's a chunk of phone. As in, a brick. With a creaky plastic battery door, godawful flush buttons, dismal battery life, and a terrible update track record. Nice screen and camera though. I've owned 4 HTC phones (HTC Touch, Eris, Thunderbolt, Rezound) and they've all had certain advantages, and they've all had such enormous problems that I'm just not interested anymore--HTC is off the trusted list until they get their sh*t together with updates and kernel sources. And Sense just straight-up sucks. I don't love Touchwiz either, but at least it's footprint isn't so heavy.

Ya, there seem to be people on both sides. much like ford vs chevy. I personally think the build quality of HTC is incredible, i love the flush buttons, the red glow, seemed like a very fine and quality slab of technology. I think sense is amazing, sense 4.5 is incredible. The radios on HTC phones are top notch, my wife still has her rezound and she always has 4g where I don't. Our house has very poor 4g service, my s3 cannot hold a data connection at all. We use our phones to tether our laptops (we dont pay for cable.. ) and after switching from the rezound to the s3, I can no longer tether reliably. When its getting its 1 bar of 4g, it works fine, but after a few min it drops to 3g or 1x or nothing at all, I spend more time fiddling with airplane mode to try and get 4g back then I do getting any work done. So I have had to use her phones wifi tether to get anything important done.
The GPS on the s3 works kinda. We were in San Francisco a few weeks ago, I have a mount on my dash that holds my phone (not a dock, just an adjustable mount) and my phone is always in it for navigation. We had to swap phones because the s3 kept dropping the gps lock, and telling me to turn on streets that were either not near me, or in the wrong direction because the phone though I was pointing a differnt direction than I was, or that I was not moving when I was. Put her rezound in there and it worked flawlessly, even on the lower deck of the bay bridge.
Don't get me wrong, I think the s3 is a great device, (which is why I own one) But I also switch phones A LOT. I have had almost every flagship device on VZW. My experience overall with quality and reliability have always been HTC, where I think samsung always wins in the sexiness department.
At the end of the day, I jsut want my phone to work when I need it to work, being in a big city and needing to get from point A to point B, and having your 600 dollar device fail to provide that basic functionality in a reliable manner is something I have come to expect from Samsung.
I have had the all of the major Samsung devices on VZW, and all of the HTC phones. My opinion is based on using those phones every day while I had them.. just this last year alone (since sep last year) I have had the incredible 2, droid charge, rezound, nexus, and s3, and soon the new HTC.. I am the only one I know who gets a new phone ever 2 months or so
Isn't that artical quite a bit old? If we haven't seen anything more current about it i doubt its real. Either way there is no way i could afford to upgrade again.

That sucks.. Depending on when you got the phone and when you got the s3.. Isn't that 1 phone every week? Factor in shipping time.. You would have had to be calling to get a replacement every 4 to 5 days since you purchased the original phone..
I smell bs

I had like 6. And how can you factor in anything if you don't know his circumstances? I had two phones that had issues right away. from them and they overnight my phones to me every time.
GS3
I prefer samsung and I'm so happy with the SIII, most probably i'll just wait till the S IV is out
True story, but it was two of my lines that both had rezounds. I bought them both back in November and had nonstop issues out the gate. Eventually I was able to convince Verizon to upgrade me to the gs3 though.
Edit: when I say I... I really mean my wife! I LOL
Here's my thread on it if you want more detail.

Ive always been a huge fan of Motorola phones. I got a Fascinate for my mom, but kept it till my Droid X came in. Samsung impressed me back then. I took a leap of faith on the S3 and I'm loving every minute of it. But with HTCs piss poor track record *ahem Thunderbolt, Rezound* pre-ordering that would be like jumping off a cliff. I'm still waiting for Moto's next big thing, but as good as the S3 has been... I might give the Moto to mommy

Why do you love your HTC One S? Positive Vibes only...

Just a quick thread. What made you buy this phone and continously use it as your daily driver? This thread can really change the minds of individuals that are on the fence of either purchasing this phone or keeping, due to all these other options available( including myself ).
No bashing in this thread please.

You started the thread but didn't give your input? ugh accidentally hit submit... Anyway I like this phone for the speed and smoothness increase over the amaze. Love the amaze, probably still more than the one s. But this thing is just fast. I don't mind the build quality. I prefer the bigger and heavier feel of the amaze but this is still good. If you like a slim unibody that still feels well built this is the way to go. I also like the battery life on this thing. Ridiculously outlasts my amaze, using stock kernal on energy rom. It's just awesome. Also I haven't had any random reboots or any real complications minus a bad day where I was missing several texts.

Great body (physical appearance) and nice and smooth Sense experience. Build quality has been pretty good. Very slim and elegant with the nice metal (I have the blue one). Fits AMAZING in the pocket. Perfect size in hand and weight as well.
This phone is fast. Battery is good. I can actually use the Car app without plugging it into a charger most of the time. I don't worry about leaving bluetooth, gps or wifi on that much. The battery has been good to me. The phone is sexy as hell. It's also pretty deceiving. Even though it's 4.3 inches, when held in my hand it actually feels smaller than it really is.. like a 4 incher. I gotta hold it next to another 4.3 inch device just to remind myself its that size.
The only thing.. I have to use a case. I currently use the d30 case. This phone is just too damn skinny and small to get a good grip of.
Thin, sexy, light, screen looks great with its not right in front of my face, great battery life, super fluid with trickdroid, etc havent been happy with a phone for a while, while im very nitpicky there isnt much about this phone i dont like which is surprising. Sense 4.1 meets all my needs with functionality, fluidness, and eye candy.
after having the amaze as my second before last phone this phone feels tiny and suuuper light. its only a little bit bigger than my n9 i had which had a 3.9 inch screen.
I probably wont be upgrading for a long while.

Yeah I thought I said enough bad but I would add I wish the back of the phone was rubberized or something for grip. I have the d30 case and can't stand having it on this phone. Although I do get scared I'm going to drop it.

The first android phone I have had that I don't feel the need to root. Everything just works.
Great looking phone with a state of the art 28nm dual core processor.
Everything about it is nice if there's one thing to complain about is the LED light eeh not a big deal, other then that its buttery smooth "cough cm10 cough"

I actually like the notification light, its distinct, its not annoying like on some older HTC phones.
I was a flashaholic with my vibrant. And the only reason why I even rooted it was to keep up. After having this phone not once have I thought about root. S4 chip and ice cream makes this phone a beast. I'm totally happy. And design is just an added perk.

The looks and the quality feel of it. No other phone can compete with it! The camera and the soundquality are just awesome.
- don't feel the need to root at all
- sense V4, gallery, calendar, camera UI and features can't be beat
- aluminium uni-body with MAO
- design/looks and how slim it is
- great SAMOLED screen, which is the best for calibration/colours (compared to other AMOLED based screens)
- amazing battery life, only beaten by RAZR MAXX, iphone 5, note II and the XL
- superb camera for photo quality
- amazing hardware, best CPU there is (s4), beats exynos quad in the GS 3 and the tegra 3 quad in the X for performance per core, power efficiency and heat and the GPU is great as well, can hold its own against the GS 3 GPU and even out performs it in quite a few tests, even the more stressful/demanding ones
- extremely stable, have only restarted my S like 10-15 times (if even that) since April, only had 2 freezes where the mobile restarted automatically but this seems to have been fixed ever since the first update
- audio is superb, only matched by the GS 3
- Great form factor
- Does not slow down
- Nice color choice (Grey and blue)
- Nice screen, colors are very vibrant and blacks are very black
- Exceptional battery life
I love this PHONE!!! longtime android user here. I started my andro days with the launch of the G1 and stuck with through the rise and fall of many players in the field. When I finally did upgrade it I stayed wittth Tmobile and went wwith the G2X. I was in love. So powerful, so fas,,, didnt understand why so many griped about it. I had my G2x for a year and a half and was still ging strong when it was stolen from my locker at the gym one night. What a sad state of affairs. I was stuck with a broken iphone 2g for about 2 weeks until Tmobile ran their special on the One S for $0 down with a $50 rebate here in the US. and oh by the way, the lady tells me, have fun with this, we just brought back unlimitted 4G last night, would you like to add it to your plan? Helll to the YEAH!!
The HTC One S is blistering fast. Down speed is ridiculous. such a sleek form factor and amaing screeeen. instantly became the future upgrade choice of many of my friends. Worried about Netflix without wifi? yeah no problem, we have unlimited 4g whats up? Worried about no sd card? Yeah uhmm did i mention unlimited 4G? I got my hands on 50GB of free storage from BOX back when i had the LG G2X. dontt know if you guys know about the app cloudaround, but it is a cloud player that will let you sync with various cloud storageee boxes. anddddd you can upload from your phone. Insane up speeds with this unit, I am PC free, so no root, but mass ammounts of music and movies on my online storage, and no need for PC to upload(damn you google music). If ANYONE is on the fence about this phone I would have to say take that leap of faith, yo will not be disappointed. Aazing, beautiful, blinding speed, wonderful device.

got this phone as a warranty replacement because they didnt have anymore S2's.... WINNING LOL
The screen is nice, size is nice, great build quality.
Had to root it tho, missing way too much without it.
On cm10 now and even tho i miss the sense camera, which is about the only thing i miss from sense, its running great.
this phone is the total package.
The amoled screen is awesome especially with sense .
The camera is top notch and the weight is great even though I prefer heavier devices normaly , even though its light its feels solid ,
Only bad things are s off and notification light

For all you people saying you feel no need to root; I felt the same way.. until I got curious and flashed trickdroid, you should really try it, you can still have the stock experience just much much more fluid feels just like jellybean
I'll wait for the official jelly bean update, thanks though

I'll root when I get S-OFF, don't want to render my warranty as void.
The phone has the best design I've seen in a long while.
