keep droid charge or trade for rezound - Verizon Droid Charge

So recently I was offered to trade my droid charge for a rezound should I do it?

I think the rezound is a better phone than the charge. Faster, newer, higher video resolution, more ram etc.. The only thing doesn't have is the hdmi output (I don't use this at all..only for testing) and shorter battery life than the Charge. So yeah! I would take the rezound.

specs-wise the rezound is a superior devise. I havent used it so i cant say for sure, but if i were given the option i would probably do it.

No I know a guy who wanted a amoled screen and had that phone and it does have hdmi out its a dual port usb and hdmi

My girlfriend just got the Rezound on Saturday and I'm super jealous. It's a kick ass phone in general, and they already have a really solid development community and they don't even have S-OFF yet. Dev on that phone is going to explode when S-OFF comes.

do the "beats" earbuds come with it? $100 value in those alone...

I say... go for it. If it's that much of a deal, you'd be a fool to pass it up.
You'd be getting a phone with more RAM (double the RAM of the Droid Charge), a dual-core CPU, and a better GPU. What more can be said?

I wouldn't pay .10 for Beats headphones. They sound awful...muddy and unlistenable. I listened to my gf's after she got the phone, then I plugged in my Skullcandy Titans and listened to them...the Titans have just as much bass as the Beats, but they have a lot more balance in the treble and mids. The Beats are nothing but bass.

If you don't do it, then refer that guy to me and I'll do the trade with him.

Rezound is awesome no doubt. My wife has one. But the battery life is horrendous without rooting it and maybe changing the rom. My wife uses hers minimally but the phone's power and resources eat up battery life.
Still love the Charge. I haven't had issues like a lot of people have had when it was stock or during root phase, and/or upgrading to a custom rom.
Need help? http://www.toms-world.org/android/ flash to EP4D, make ClockworkMod Recovery stick, step by step root. Best step by step instructions for the Droid Charge.

ya resale is what i was thinking.... i got the beat buds when they first came out and it wasn't long before i was extremely disappointed and went back to the bose.

I've tried alot of the roms which are awsome and phone works good for a while then slows down which it does with any rom. Fp1 is a huge improvement but still slows down in random spots and drops data for no reason. And gps sucks still sometimes 5 seconds but all too often im sitting in my car or outside waiting for it to lock for 5 min even when it shows 6 satellites. Its been fun but I think its time to move on. Going to miss the screen and the awsome community

so just got the rezound and wow its fast. My biggest gripe was the gps on the charge and its like insta lock with the rezound and the altitude is right!! The biggest thing about making the switch is its definitely going to take some time to get used to the screen the colors look more realistic then the charge but I keep going back to the charges screen and saying wow because everything just pops. The rezound has a 720p screen which is nice and now I notice all the pixels on the charge lol. overall I think ill be very happy with the rezound. Thanks everyone for your advice
Some other things i notice the camera on the rezound is amazing and super fast i would say faster than the charge. The screen is harder to view in the sunlight vs the charge I might fix that with a screen protector but not sure yet. I do like sense now that i have had some time to get used to it. gonna miss that amoled screen but not the slow ass gps lock

Incredible 2 or Droid Charge ?

I just got a Thunderbolt about 2 weeks ago and am fed up with the poor battery + occasional random reboots(already tried everything and still not satisfied)... so since I'm still under Best Buy Mobile's return policy, I'm thinking of taking it back and getting either the Incredible 2 or the Droid Charge this thursday.
I primarily use my phone for mobile data(internet browsing, downloading) followed by watching videos/games, then lastly actual talking. I'd like something decent where I can watch a movie on it or do some web browsing/music/games a bit before going to bed and not have to worry if the phone's still going to have power when i get up the next morning.
I do like the bigger sceen on the Charge, but the Incredible seems to have a bit more RAM(granted the Incredible will not have LTE capabilities but they won't be offering LTE service in my area for some time anyway).
What do you guys think?

Incredible 2. I don't trust Samsung, plus the Charge just looks ugly. The Incredible 2 (aka Incredible S) is also being released in other countries in a GSM flavor, so updates should be quicker anyways.
I would think the Incredible 2 will overall be a much better experience and I think it's cheaper.
Yeah Incredible 2. If you aren't going to have LTE in your area anytime soon, why bother? they pretty much have the same specs, except for screen size and some other things. Plus the inc 2 is a world phone, so if the need arises, you can take your phone with you around the world. Plus htc sense is a lot better than samsung touchwiz in terms of custom overlays. HTC has a better track record in quality, and software updates. You should be fine with the inc 2. I have the OG inc, and it is an awesome phone. I can imagine the inc 2 will be just as good and better.
Neither one.
Definitely the Incredible 2 that phone looks so awesome. To bad your not with T-Mobile the Sensation is going to be amazing and its going to have 1080p video recording along with Sense 3.0!
Well I read it somewhwhere that you can switch back to a 3g phone from a 4g sim card. I guess once you move your number to a sim that's that. So you might have to get a new number but I'd go with the incredible 2. Awesome home keys that turn with you turn the phone. Gl

I'd go with the Inc 2. I'm a bit surprised VZW granted a Samsung phone the "Droid" moniker.
droid charge! i dont like htc, poor battery life :/
I'd go with the Inc2, I have the Inc and it is simply incredible (pun intended). The battery life on the stock ROM wasn't great but after rooting it I have it setup to give me a good 12-14 hours of uptime and I have the same usage as you except roll in a heavy work schedule that I use my phone for also.

Best Buy Mobile is doing it for $249... so when i take the Thunderbolt back tomorrow it would be a straight swap.
i suppose with the Inc 2 being $199 that's an extra $50 back for all-you-can eat sushi! õ_Ô

I mean the upside is it gets free Mobile Hotspot, but then again you get that from rooting...
The question should be Fascinate or Charge... No point in paying $100+ more for a worse screen and GPU.
this post brought to you by Swype
have you tried the radio update found in the developers section? it fixed my issues and you dont have to be rooted to do it.
I would say go with the Inc2 as it looks very nice and I have heard noting but good things about it! Besides, the Charge is going to have an encrypted bootloader and that is going to prevent you from being able to do much as far as rooting and ROMing is concerned.

I have the droid charge and i most say it worth every penny. Screen is awesome, battery life 10x better the htc senseless, and I'm not just throwing shhh out there because I own the thunderbolt as well and I pick the charge.

[Q] Extended Battery?

So I sold my Inspire because the battery is garbage and can't last a day with heavy usage. So is there an extended battery that could make this phone last at least a day???? This phone is a big downgrade from the Atrix with that tiny battery
I saw a nice boost rooting and going with CM7 notmassive but better. Other then that consider trying a undervolted kernel, it worked for me. With some moderate to heavy usage im around 20 hours

Well, if you already sold it and you consider it a downgrade from the Atrix, why would you still want an extended battery?
If battery is all that matters, then go with the atrix. You won't find much of a dev section for it though.
In any case, there isn't an extended battery available that will match the atrix, and any aftermarket ones with a listed capacity greater than the existing stock battery most likely won't perform at their advertised capacity anyhow.
There are tradeoffs with any phone. The inspire has to be micromanaged to optimize its battery, which admittedly, isn't the greatest.
Still wouldn't trade mine for an atrix, though.

Even rooted and running something like CM7 with, say, LorDmod's undervolted kernel he's still not going to get more than a day out of the phone with "heavy usage" unless it's underclocked as well. One of the biggest killers is the screen and backlight simply due to its sheer size.
I was able to pull 2days 14 hours out of an Inspire with LorDmod's -25mV undervolt but I'm pretty light on the usage.

I agree. The screen is what kills it for sure. No way around that, aside from reducing screen brightness and minimizing/optimizing all the other non-screen functions of the phone, to leave more juice for the screen to consume.
2 days 14 hrs is pretty good, but knowing what your screen-on time for that period was would put in better context.

Couldn't agree with you more. I started with the Inspire for a few days hated the battery and volume so I went with the Atrix. After 26+ days and the lack of development and the fact the phone got crazy hot after playing games for not long I decided to come back to Inspire. Haven't even thought about the Atrix since! The choice of REAL ROMs and the fact it's an overall much nicer feeling phone (not cheap feeling) sold me on the Inspire. Not to mention the fact that the screen on the Atrix, qHD and all, IMO sucks color wise compared to the Inspire. The "THD" games I bought weren't all that impressive IMO and cost more money as well. I am yet to have the Inspire run dead on me while I was out and if I know I'm going to be out for a while it's simple to bring a charger in the car and give it extra juice to last. Screw the Atrix and it's locked bootloader thanks to garbage Motorola!
*off rant* lol
Is keeping a spare batt on you feasible with this phone? I mean, is switching the battery a real pain in the butt on it? I'd be afraid of the door wearing out and not wanting to stay in place.

Pretty minimal. I get a lot of emails so it's on to check/reply to those and refresh a twitter feed. In that particular screenshot I had to reflash CM and the LorDmod kernel (it's the big drop around 60%).

Depends on where you open it. It's insanely easy to pull off if you put your nail under the volume buttons instead of the edge. Like this video shows.
Or you can hold off a few and grab one of these.

Lol. I actually *wanted* the atrix, aka Olympus, before it was released.
I guess it depends on what kind of impression your previous phone left you with, as well.
For me, I had a captivate, so just having a phone that I didn't have to worry about finding out it turned off on its own, or that gps actually works, set the bar pretty low in terms of what a better phone is.
That's not to minimize the inspire -- it really is a great phone in its own right, but still... Someone who's expecting an iPhone or feature phone in terms of battery performance is going to be in for a bit of readjustment going to an inspire.

Yeah I came from an iPhone 4 before Android and I wasn't impressed with its battery. My battery was LOW at end of day but I also used the living hell out of it. I use the Inspire a bit less but I've been pretty busy since I got it. The battery could be better sure but it lasts me a full day so far.

Call me crazy but I'm selling my TB and going back to the Droid X.

What I will miss...
- 4G speeds
- Snappier processor
- More vibrant screen
What I won't miss...
- Horrible battery life
- Long GPS lock time
- Random reboots (even with the newest update)
- Very low speaker volume
- Constant issue of 4G dropping in and out
- Shoddy build quality
I already have it up on Craigslist for $350 and someone is meeting me tonight. I might jump to the DInc2 but I am thinking of just waiting to see what happens with the SGS2. For now, the Droid X is still a great device.
not that you should HAVE to but root would solve most of your problems and youd probably be happy. but to each his own.

I rooted it the day I bought it. I've had it since February. I tried Das BAMF and CM7 with multiple radios but nothing solved the issues I've been having with it. I don't think it's a bad device at all. Maybe I got a lemon, I dunno. It just seems that the phone should have been in development a little longer to work out the kinks.
If you guys are happy with it then more power to you. The Droid X does everything I need, albeit a little slower.

The TB's build quality is not horrible and is leagues better than the majority of HTC devices but it still doesn't compare to the Droid X. I'll admit that I will miss the capacative buttons. I don't care for the plastic buttons on the Droid X either. Despite what people say, the Droid X's glass is better than the TB's. The touch screen is also much more sensative.
I didn't expect anything from making this thread. I just thought I'd share my opinion on the device and why I'm selling it.

No way does the thunderbolts build quality come close to the X. Even though it weighs twice as much it feels cheap and like plastic (mainly because a large part of its surface area is plastic) the X is very light, yet it feels like a tank. The X never creaked like this phone, the finish was much better and durable. I do have to agree that I prefer the captive buttons over Tue tactile buttons but they didn't feel cheap.

for those wondering if the Rezound is worth it...

Well, I got one today. haven't really done much with it yet but figured you'd at least like to know this....
performance-wise(navigation, app handling, etc)... it doesn't seem to be much faster then an overclocked TB.
"Beats By Dre" - the 'enhancements' only work with the stock Beats Music player, which is really just some cuatom EQ setting built into the app. I tested the headphones on the Rezound and on my Sansa Sandisk MP3 player w/ the EQ set the way I like it. the headphones ended up sounding better/louder on the Sansa as well as the bass hit harder.
and I have this delightful dead pixel on the screen(not to mention the buttons light up pink)
so obviously, there's no rush to upgrade your Thunderbolt yet(unless you fancy the pink)
This is good information since I just picked up my T-bolt last week for a whole lot less money than the Rezound. On a sad note, it got it's first scratch on it this morning as it flew under my seat from taking a curve too fast. Screen protector and case that I ordered two days ago is still in the mail.
I was in the store the other day and played with the Rezound. I agree that it is not much smoother than the TB when overclocked, and I personally have my doubts about Android's ability to utilize a dual core CPU period, so I was not expecting the performance to blow me away. Quadrant was similar to the performance of an OC thunderbolt as well. Again, cite the inability to use both cores efficiently. Quadrant does have quite a few flaws, but it was the best available given the circumstances.
All of that said, THE reason to own a Rezound without any doubt in my mind is the display. What I saw of the display thoroughly impressed me, the high PPI and clarity was pretty astounding.
So, if I bought one and had a dead pixel I would be really, really pissed and demand a refurb or take it back in the 14 day grace period, because thats like buying a benz and finding out its a body kit on a honda.
Take it back point out flaw demand another new phone.once you get past 14 days your screwed with remans

I thought about that, but I would hate to get a referb for a small scratch on the kickstand.
Dead pixels,something other then cosmetic

It is running good and I am getting good battery life after some adjustments, so I don't have anything to complain about, except for my stupidity. I have read where some people have had problems with the finish peeling on the kickstand. They just polished it off, so I may end up doing that later.
Actually you have till Jan. To return it if you bought it after Nov 15th.

Ive honestly havent heard anything spectacular, thanks for backing it up!
I just got my Thunderbolt a few weeks back to replace my battle hardened Droid X. I have to say that the Thunderbolt is very smooth and fast. This is the first time I decided not to go with a phone on its release date to save money in awhile. My only complaint is battery life but I just ordered the Rezound battery for $20 from Verizon. We'll see how that does.

After a week my phone has not had any problems and there is nothing wrong with my screen. The system runs much smoother and faster because of the extra available memory and dual processor. The audio is a lot better. Once all the bloatware is gone it should be blazing fast and you should have close to 500mgs free memory. I never had any problems with my TBolt , but I really think this is a great phone and a good upgrade. When it's rooted the sky's the limit.

it should work just consider all the testing that was done with the thunderbolt

Should I buy a charge until?

I can get a used charge for 80 bucks. I have a DINC2, my contract is up in 2 months, and 4g just hit where I live.
What does everyone think about the phone? I had a fascinate which was good for the most part, but it did have its issues and I was finally swapped out for the DINC2.
I love the DINC2, but would like to enjoy some 4g.
Ultimately, I want to wait until Verizon gets the HTC One X, or something similar in performance.

I've been using both the past week and hands down, the inc2 blows the charge outta the water. But I do like the charge for its large and bright screen.

I don't think so, Screen is better, camara is better, with FP1 eclipse 2.0, the charge is super smooth, no lag, fast or even faster, and the 4G.... This alone put the charge in a different level.

I agree, 2-3.5 Mbps on 3G vs. 20-35 on 4G! I'll take the Charge any day of the week.

This. No Verizon 3g phones besides iPhone 4 (iOS), Droid 3 (dual core + QWERTY), and HTC Rhyme (special features) are comparable to this one except for battery life.
first of all, verizon is not getting the htc one x. it uses a tegra 3 processor which is not compatible with lte. second, i wouldn't say this phone is an upgrade from the dinc2.
4g and having a large vivid super amoled+ screen is great but other than that, everything else about the dinc2 is better than the charge. we have little ram, a relatively slow processor (compared to what you have), and no usabled AOSP roms (at the moment), and no official ics at least for a year.
dont get me wrong, i love my charge but sometimes it really really pisses me off with a crappy specs.

Do you want to buy a super laptop with dial up modem?
re
im in the same boat.. i had the incredible from 2 years ago.. and was waiting on the new q2-q3 phones to come out.
I got a charge brand new for $100 off craigslist/met at a verizon store to verify.
Now i have a pretty solid 4g phone that will get me by until the new quad core phones come out.
The only thing that bugs me on this phone is that its not the fastest when loading huge web pages over wifi or 4g.. and that it has a slightly hard time with newer games like 6guns and dungeon defenders that require alot of system resources, ie ram and cpu/gpu. Plus theres the crazy slippery back of the phone that almost makes it jump out of your hands if they are the slightest bit damp.
but other than that, for $150 or under its an awesome phone.. plus you should be able to sell it for close to what you paid for it on craigslist after you get your new phone.
so its a WIN WIN for the winninig.
Phones are mostly a personal preference. I prefer the display and the DAC in the Charge. Most of the Charge's issues seemingly can be resolved with software and some patience. The radios do work pretty well if service is decent. Compared to my feature phone, the Charge radios perform much better all around.
The Charge is not perfect, but once you get used to the display, other devices really are lacking. The GSII would be nice unless you wanted the Charge's DAC.
Personally, I'm biding my time for the next insane superphone. The GS3 is so far the most likely candidate, but time will time.
Personally, I would get the $80 dollar Charge, which is nice for an contract-free 4G device. It is always nice to have an extra phone in case of loss, damage, hook up a buddy, etc.
The us version of the HTC one x doesn't have a Tegra 3 it has a snapdragon s4 (dual core) and it is probably only gsm...
