I try agilelock, wiget locker, lockbot pro... but no program work ... It work when I plug in usb or changer... When i plug out, I can't use volum key to wake up..
I need a help..
Thank you very much...
I believe its cause USB and charger doesn't really put the phone to sleep. It's still awake even if screen is off. However all those lock screen apps you tried will put phone to sleep.
Download an app called NoLock and give it a try. That'll remove the keyguard, but some people have discovered it also allows the phone to wake up from Volume Keys.
Technically, if your phone can wake up from volume keys, it can wake up from the 3D key too.

Dear friend
I have installed the "Magic lock main" it just work within 01 minute when I sent my phone go to sleep, after 1minute I not work, I must used the power button to wake my phone up.
Please help me How to config the setting, I also used "Go lunch EX".
Thanks
No solution to wake up
Not quite what you guys are looking for but if you go to /system/usr/keylayout and open omap_keypad.kl scroll down and by key 249 3d_hot_key space over and add "wake" (you will see when you open the file just make it line up) you can use the 3d button to wake the phone up.
...fighting ninjas at night, talkin' about this and that.
Well if you use GO launcher EX you should test Go locker.
Enable Go locker and in setup take "Emergency unlock" on use.
It let you unlock phone by pressing volume button up or down for few seconds,
if thats the "wakeup" what you are finding for?

works for me thank you Urabewe.....
1. i first have to change the permission for omap_keypad.kl by using file manager. if u don't change permission, u won't be able to save changes made.
2. stroll down to put key 249 3D_MODE WAKE (between mode and wake, put in some spaces )
3. save and reboot.
and now can be able to wake up screen that sleeps for longer than few minutes using 3d button

Is 3D button still work? For launching 3D space and other functions?
Yeah it is still set to open 3d space all you are doing is adding the wake function to the button. You don't remove anything you just space over and add wake. You will see what I mean when you open the file. The button should work as usual plus add the ability to wake phone.
What is really odd is that the vol keys actually have the wake function set just doesn't work.

Sorry double post.
Easy way
1) open root explorer
2) go to /system/usr/keylayout
3) press the "mount r/w" button in top right
4) long press on omap-keypad.kl
5) scroll down on menu and choose "open in text editor"
6) scroll all the way down to bottom
7) at "key 249 3D_MODE" space over until cursor is lined up with the word wake on line above
8) type in "wake" make sure it is lined up with column above either add spaces or delete them to line it up
9) reboot phone
10) wake phone with 3d button

anyone have a mod that does this?
sorry if this is in the wrong place. i'm new here.
I don't know of a patch for that yet, but I'm sure it's possible.
If we had CyanogenMod for the Charge, it would be baked into the ROM.
Someday ...
I would like to see this. possibly even disable the quick press options of the power button and reassign them to another combination. I hit the button all the time trying to do other things on the phone and then I get locked out and have to redo my pattern etc.
Widgetlocker app can do this for you.
Using Root Explorer or possibly Estrongs file explorer:
>Go to system>usr>keylayout>s3c-keypad.kl
>modify key 50 to look like this: HOME WAKE_DROPPED
>Then reoboot
Now home key wakes device!
UPDATE: Seems after it is asleep for a period of time it won't wake it anymore, have to work this out.
What application do we use to edit the value? A text editor? What do you suggest?
I use Root Explorer Long press open in text editor,
I think you can do the same with estrongs file explorer.

Sorry for the unnecessary request. I see it is in the other post.
It seems as though the front keypad module is not active once it goes completely to sleep, there for won't wake it.
If someone can figure this out, it will work just fine.

Are suggesting this because you have this on your Droid Charge and it is currently working correctly?
The reason I ask, is I tried a couple weeks back and could not get it working correctly.
I have it on my Charge. It works intermittently. I found that if the phone is asleep for a little while it usually does not work... occasionally it does work but no consistent pattern.
I'm also looking for a better fix than the app.
Suggestions are greatly appreciated!
The same thing happens when you just modify the key mapping, it's because the front keypad module is off when the phone sleeps.
So if it could be activated at all times that would fix it, but I imagine it may have some side effects to battery life.
This will disable the lock screen for good. After you do this fix you can wake up the Droid by briefly pressing the power button and it will go immediately to the home screen without any lock screen madness.
Go to Dialer and enter *#83786633, then press the home key
Go back into the Dialer, clear those numbers, then *#22745927
Now a screen will appear asking for the SPC Code, enter 000000
Press the Hiddenmenu Enable radio button, then press home button
To disable the lock screen (and power down pop up), go back into the Dialer and use the code *#7594#, select Shutdown and press the Home button. This, I have confirmed, does work on the Charge.

no idea with the FB-Button ?
I can't believe that the FB button is not user assignable. I don't actually own one of these phones but I am very interested (as I love physical keyboards)
I'd rather it be a Google+ button! or maybe control the camera or something that's actually useful.
Not sure, but you can disable it or switch to camera.
You need to be rooted
Install rootexplorer app or similar
go to: /system/usr/keylayout/
tap mount r/w
edit chacha-keypad.kl
put a # in front of 184 HTC_SHARE to disable it or change HTC_SHARE to CAMERA
save
then switch back r/o
then reboot
(if you switch to camera, you need to long press fb button for camera)

Hi, I think if we had a way to change it so it can access any application (not just the camera) would be more 'productive' and a whole lot cooler (Twitter, Skype, Google+). Then you could purchase customizable same size stickers to give it a more 'refreshing' look.

Yes I did...
I also noticed some odd behavior, when I try to set the WAKE_DROPPED parameter to assign the "screen wake" capability to other keys than the power button.
Let's say for example, that I added WAKE_DROPPED next to HTC_SHARE in the .kl file & I rebooted properly.
Then the screen will sometimes wake up when I press the FB key...but sometimes, never. The behavior seems completely random.
Also noticed the same behavior when trying to enable WAKE_DROPPED for other keys such as END_CALL for example.

The Chacha CPU is sleeping most of the time when screen is off, even Wifi is turned to max saving and prevents to receive data. Only some internal events wakes CPU up. And it wakes up on few seconds some times to times, to allow gmail sync and other things. It can stay up to several minutes without waking up.
In case the Chacha CPU is sleeping no key except the power button can wake it up.
In case the CPU is in wake up state, which is not often when screen is off, some other buttons can turn back the screen on.
As example, most of the time, right after screen turns off, you can turn back screen on with call button within 5 seconds or less, but later, only power button can because CPU went to sleep.
Is the a App or a way to use the volume button to wake up the screen so we don't put to much stress on the power button?

I use tap tap app and it uses ones proximity sensor to turn on and off your screen with a swipe of your hand or some like to refer to as "the force" lol.
But if you are looking for an alternative wake, I think there is, I forget what the app is called right now.
There is an application called Button Remapper and that could help you just wake up screen with volume buttons or other hard buttons on my HTC Desire.. give a try to it on Sensation...

Alternative is Widget Locker and i suppose that will also Show up unlock screen pressing volume buttons but then u have to sacrifice Sense 3 lock screen...
I agree with jjdoctor widgetlocker has been my lock screen for years across a numerous amount of phones. That is, if you want to sacrifice the sense lockscreen.
I use Tap Tap app as well. Pretty cool app. I try not to run it all the time though because it can drain the battery a bit. I also use widgetsoid as well which has an unlock widget where you can then use the volume rocker to wake up the phone.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using Tapatalk
Tried Widgetsoid on a different phone but couldnt locate the Option to wakeup screen with Volume buttons.. its all about widgets in this application..
Btw... BUTTON REMAPPER isnt working ? Nobody ever used it? You wont be sacrficing Sense Lock screen for it..moreover its light application and wont even drain ur battery..
For Widgetsoid, I think you want to create a widget, select screen and then check auto lock. That will create a widget which you can enable/disable the lock screen. Then you can use the volume rocker to wake up the phone.

I was looking for something that can wake up the phone not remove lock screen just to wake up. I tried nolock. It removes the lock screen just to wake up.
Try adding these to the build.prop (remember to do a nandroid)
To enable the Volume button too unlock the phone
ro.config.hw_Vol_down_unlockscreen=true
To wake the phone when pressing the volume key
ro.config.hwfeature_wakeupkey=1
I havent tried these so let me know my sensation is at service at the moment.
Thanks for the information!

1. Download baksmali and smali (both baksmali-1.2.8 & smali-1.2.8 jars and scripts, total 4 files) to the desktop from http://code.google.com/p/smali/ (on the left, you will see the 4 links under "downloads")
2. Copy and transfer android.policy.jar (system\framework folder) from your phone to the desktop. it's also a good idea to backup the file just in case something goes wrong and you need to revert back.
3. Unzip android.policy.jar and extract classes.dex file to the desktop.
4. From the command line, navigate to the desktop and type "java -jar baksmali-1.2.8.jar classes.dex". It will create a directory named "out".
7. Open KeyguardViewMediator.smali (found in out/com/android/internal/policy/impl/) with wordpad.
8. Scroll down and find ".method private isWakeKeyWhenKeyguardShowing(I)Z".
9. Delete cases 0x18 and 0x19 in the switch statement towards the bottom of the method. Save.
10. From the command line, type "java -jar smali-1.2.8.jar -o classes.dex out". You now have a new classes.dex that has your modification.
11. Open android.policy.jar file on your desktop with 7zip and insert the new classes.dex file.
12. Copy the new file to your phone (system\framework folder, ensure that you set proper permissions) and reboot.
please note that i am not responsible if you mess anything up (although, the steps are pretty brick-proof). hack away at your own risk.
ps if you want to turn the screen off without using the power button, download "screen off and lock" from the market. awesome free app. shut down the screen by long pressing the search button.

Hi,
I have seen this tweak/app to wake phone by using volume button mentioned a few times but no instructions on how set it. Any information that can be shared on how to do this?
Thanks,
Chris
that would be a nice option to have. sometimes the phone feels "too tall" to reach the power button and pressing the side button while it lays on a table is much easier too.
Also looking for this mod - the Sense ROM forum mentions that it is something to do with android.policy.jar?
Leedroid ROM has this.
I know this is a late reply but I found that the tap tap app works well.
I combined it with no lock, so i can just wave my hand and it'll go right to home screen, bypassing the need to use power button, moving the htc ring and pattern lock.

I would highly recommend avoiding this app. I installed, played with for a few minutes then put in my pocket for the drive home from work. When I got home, my phone was locked up, too hot to hold and upon reboot, I had no data connection. Literally nothing I tried returned my data until I did a full wipe and nandroid restore losing a week of data. The app didn't even work reliably in the first place...maybe 1/3 times would it unlock as promised.

Ok, I'll experiment it later with my jeans. Do you remember the settings for your sensor? (sensitivity, how long will sensor be on). Can you suggest an alternative to wake up the phone w/o using power button?
Some say no lock can wake phones via volume key but that doesn't work on my one s.
Brief instructions
It's quite easy actually. Here is a very brief overview.
1. Unlock the bootloader
2. Install a recovery
3. Install something like SuperSu
4. In /system/usr/keylayout/keypad_8960.kl, replace the "key 114 .... " line with "key 114 POWER WAKE". Voila! Now it works, but not when it goes to deep sleep to fix that
5. do this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2038726.
If you need a more detailed answer or encounter some difficulties, don't hesitate to ask.

Hey, sorry for the late reply. Indeed, a button won't fulfil 2 purposes at the same time. What I do when I want to lower the volume is press the volume_up button. At this point a scroll bar appears on the screen. I then lower the volume by sliding the bar
well, recently I've been trying to remap the softkeys on the note II, and I'm just not making progress. My goal is to create a small mod that turns the softkey lights off, and remaps the menu key for the back key, and the back key to recents, as well as somehow changing the home button longpress to a google now shortcut.
After doing some research, I figured changing the Generic.kl (/system/usr/keylayout/) lines 139 and 158 would make progress. However, all I've accomplished so far is disabling the softkeys.
Any help or information on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I made this file months ago, and it's worked on every TW rom I've had, since I HATE the backwards button layout Samsung chose. Download this file, go to your /system/usr/keylayout folder, rename your existing sec_touchkey.kl to sec_touchkey.kl.bak, then move the file I gave you into that folder. Set permissions and reboot, and you'll have the setup you want.
Obviously, just turn the backlights off in the Display settings. Do note that you won't have a menu button after you do this, I just use Button Savior to put a little shortcut off to the side. But if you come up with a more elegant solution, please feel free to let me know.
That file should do what you want, all I ask is that you credit me if you share it with anyone, put it in a rom, or whatever.

I'll be creating a flash zip for this "fix" soon. Does anyone know where I'd change the longpress on the homebutton action?

At leasts thats what i can remember lol. Thats what i had to edit on my Tablet to make long press on home function as long press search.
Yeah, I'd love to find a way to enable a long press of the right hand capacitive button (back button stock, but it's the task switcher with that file I posted) to act as a menu button. That would be awesome.
Alternatively, I'd love to figure out how to change the TW soft keys to AOSP theme and layout. I love using soft keys, but I can't stand the backwards layout Samsung has chosen, and can't bring myself to using it if I can help it.

You can add your own methods to the android.policy.jar file to handle different on hold actions.

Every file editor I try is unable to open/edit the android.policy.jar file. How do I edit it?

hi, is there any way to wake-up screen without home key, power key and volume key? actualy my home button is now not as hard as it was before, i am afraid it may damage some day, so does power key, i know about few apps which wakes up using sensor, but it's not for me, it drains battery too much, i want something like waking up phone with capative touch keys, or swiping them, is it possible to change key 172 which is home button to a menu key for waking up? in system/usr/keylayout/ ?

the situation is simple.. ALL IS POSSIBLE..
i you know java code as advance user, i can send you files witch you should recompile
but.. the situation is simple.. if you always turn on the soft buttons, you'll lose a lot of energy, since ALL screen is alimented..
Soft touch buttons uses the same touch as screen, so, you always have to aliment it
ok.. 2 issues:
1) if leg touch the soft button, screen will be turned on
2) showp-1984 creates the swipe2wake, for htc phones, you need a lot of c++ knowledge to recompile it
But.. in my opinion, buttons are "immortal" than soft touch..
I have an old keyboard.. it had about 12 years.. and works good.. and.. i used it for 6 years til change, so, dont be scary, i don't think you are breaking your buttons!!
---------- Post added at 02:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:57 PM ----------
Btw.. i find the code witch is the governor of the buttons.. it's in android.policy.jar file.. and.. i tryed to force the hold home button to hold menù button, and sure, it worked, with one issue: menù always had the search function
So.. the situation is simple... i don't know how to code with java, and sure, i need a good java programmer to do what i whould do.. at last.. only one "stupid thing".. change the hold home button app switch to menù.. so.. i could have:
Menù button as app switch with 1 press (easy to do)
standard press of home as move home function and hold it for the android MENU
And back as always
I only need one coder witch can modify me the @8 VALUE
Any good person??

I see, actually you're right, i forgot that we have to decompile android.policy.jar to be able to change wake up keys, i remember it when i saw someone changed wake-up key to volume buttons through android.policy.jar, it's quite strange that with samsung decvices which uses physical home button to screen wake, doesn't have any mod to alternative method, one you already mentioned sweep2wake, a pleasent feature to relief power button of htc devices, what about the relief for Samsung's physical home key? i am not so fussed about other use of physical key, i only want to change screen wake key to capacitive menu key or something like sweep2wake..i can see after sometime, lots of users complain about home key, so a handy mod should be there.
by the way can you send me an edited file with menu (capacitive button) wake up enabled?

I'd want but, i'm not a java programmer, i don't know how to do to remap a button, do you think i know how to force the electromagneticity on??
I think is not easy whaylt ypu would do.. and sure.. you have to modify more than 1 jar file.. because.. i ONLY have to REMAP a button, so, stock, only have to do ANOTHER THING... you want to change a power features.. i think you have to modify the kernel (sweep 2 wake is a feature of the kernel, not of the rom.. kernel is writed in c++.. android is writed in java, uses the java machine)

Oh right.. one thing.. emh.. in my opinion.. button is a button, and samusung did some test about the resistence of the button
Sure.. time destroys all.. so.. you could have a softly botton after 12 months.. but.. i don't think you'll damage it soon..
Warranty is here.. you can send phone to the costructor if you have a problem
P.s. i have old phones, as like a siemens s10.. and.. ALL buttons are ok..
That phone was used by:
Dad > mom > me > brother > second brother
It has about, 8years of usage.. no prob..
Dont know why you are so worried!

This is an expensive phone, so we would definitely worry about it i know it does rarely broken, but it does more or less, i don't know why samsung intend to choose physical home instead of capacitive, i had HTC Sensation, and i was glad to use sweep2wake on it to save power button, samsung's power button gives loose feeling right out of the box like it'll break anytime, so samsung needs sweep2wake or something like that much more than HTC devices, hopefully some devs will look at it, THIS WAKE-UP KEY NEED TO BE HACKED AND REPLACED, simple is that, although soft keys gives it little bit relief, but we have to wake-up device atleast 30-50 times in working days, so that's why i am really looking forward to it, can we both join hands to bring developers attention toward it? if you also want to wake-up screen with anything other than physical keys i'm sure you must be missing sweep2wake in note 2
I didn't use s2w.. why? It uses too mouch energy in standby
showp is one of my great friends in xda, and i love his kernel + his MPDECISION code
Btw, for me, you are crazy
Never ever had problems with phone buttons.. i had an n95, i sent about 1 bilion of sms.. here in italy vodafone created a promo witch gives about 100free sms per day.. i used everytime all the sms.. and.. sure.. i had to press the send button 2 timed every sms + all the other
I used that phone for 3 years.. changed it with an hd2... bought the first day (n95) and hd2 used.. 365 days x 3 = 1095.. 1095 x 100 = 19500 x 2 = 219,000 + all the other used to navigate in menù
Btw.. n95 was broken in display cable.. all buttons perfect!!
has anyone tried ButtonRemapper? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464
before doing all the hard work
Yep and didnt work!
