[ROM] Stock Deodexed/Debloated EI22 - Epic 4G Android Development

jocalaROM is based on stock EI22. I occasionally use my phone (and Galaxy Tab) to remotely admin several Linux boxes, so this ROM contains the tools I need. If you would like to fork it for your own project, feel free.
Features:
CWM 5x
Rooted/Superuser.apk
Busybox
Deodexed/Zipaligned
CIQ removed [hat tip to k0nane!]
Debloated
bash shell [cyanogen7]
busybox
adb wireless
terminal
dropbear [ssh client/server]
rsync
/etc/terminfo [add nano or joe editors]
The ssh password is "password". Change it by editing the file /system/xbin/startdropbear
Now hosted by ROM Manager
Kernel sources

[ROM] Tha Boss Rom V.4 - Froyo,Signed,Deodexed,BossMode,Scripts,Kernal

This is just a basic rom for the user that wants that stock feel but wants some power out of it. I have put alot of work into making this one of the best roms out for the Evo. This rom is great on battery and it also gives you the power and control you would like. Make sure you follow me on twitter to get updates on all of the future versions of this rom. I would also like to thank you all for supporting this rom, without you this would not happen.

To overclock download Set Cpu from the market. It is worth the $2.00 = )
Scripts:
zipalign_apks
cpuinfo
blockads
How to use scripts:
Type the name into a adb shell or into a terminal emulator.
About BossMode:
Typing "BossMode" into adb shell or a terminal emulator will give access to and allow you to edit many parts of the system using any file manager.
For example, if you wish to delete system apps you can simply run "godmode", open Astro File Manager, long press the app, and delete it (don't forget to back it up first!). Also, if you wish to edit (using Astro) the build.prop, sysctl.conf, or install-recovery.sh files "BossMode" will allow you to do so. In short, "BossMode" can turn Astro File Manager into Root Explorer.Remember this is a beta so it might have a bug or two but nothing extreme. It will be out of beta next release.
Plans for V.5:
More scripts
Update Kernel
Tell me what you would like to see in the next version.

voicemail?
I put this ROM on my Sprint EVO a few hours ago and just noticed that I no longer have anything for voicemail available under either apps or widgets other than Google Voice which I don't use.
What happened? I was already rooted and using the BakedSnack ROM but had problems with voicemail on that one too; apps were there but I never got notifications when I had messages. That was the whole reason I moved to this ROM. I wiped the unit first and followed all the steps to flash the new ROM.
What did I do wrong????

[WiP][PROJECT]ROM MANAGER for G3 + RECOVERY

Hey Guys,
We all know that there is very little chance that we are going to get G3 support for ROM Manager. So as we have been doing from a long time, lets take that task in our own hands
We shall create a team, and make a ROM Manager for G3 supporting most of the Custom ROM's and Kernel's.
What all we need:
Recovery - I will provide the recovery from G3MOD, separately, so that everyone can install even with Fugumod.
App Developers - Please Post in the thread if you are interested.
Server - If anyone can provide us with a server with good storage and bandwidth? OTA for all ROM's and Kernels can be included in the software.
Anyone Else who has any idea, and wants to help in this project is welcome
Advantages of this Project:
1) Odin flashing will no longer be required.
2) ROM's and their Updates can be provided from the Server directly.
3) You can try any new ROM, without loosing data from your previous ROM.
Note to ROM Developers:
1) You will need to provide your ROM's as System.img files
2) Those interested in providing your ROM's using this ROM Manager, please let us know.
Thanks To:
Koush for the superb recovery and ROM Manager.
Functions We Can Have for the ROM Manager + Recovery:
1) Update Recovery - App
2) List of ROM's with Features. - App
3) List of Kernel's with Features. - App
4) OTA Updates for all ROM's and Kernel's - App
5) Switching ROM's - CWM
6) Backup Data - CWM
7) Restore Data - CWM
8) Backup Current ROM - CWM
9) Reboot to Recovery - App

we just need enough support from everyone and this thing can be done
Coding the UI like in the famous ROM Managee shouldn't be hard 'cause it's basically an Options-Menu. The question is what's behind that. If we just need to fire Linux Shell Commands it shouldn't be hard - i set up an Script Executer for my first app allready.

Well, we already have the source for ROM manager, by koush...
https://github.com/ClockworkMod
So i dont think it will be very difficult to do it...
We just need as many app developers possible, so that we can have the project up and running fast
I am trying to mod the recovery in a better way, so switching between ROM's via CWM is faster and also there is no loss of data

Great Work!!
R u also working on a kernel which can support CM7 on multiboot?
Coz currently we have only 2 kernels for CM7, one by marcel himself and the other by apollo but in both the kernels music experience is very bad due to noise. Now, since marcel and apollo are very less active on XDA due to may be they get very less time from their work, there is only one option left and that is you
I really want to keep CM7 on my mobile but can do that with dual or multiboot only as it is not yet complete.
I hope this project will give life to G3 forum.

Well this really is my kind of game
Since I already have the code to download files from a server this shouldn't be that hard.

Hi dharam
I want to get in.
I can help as far as it is C code.
I checked the github repo, but all you can find are the resources needed for the layout and such. So we COULD use that, but that would mean we have to write all the underlying Java code by ourselves..

Thanks, makes life a little easier.
Actually, i have some commands which come in really handy when you use ubuntu on a tab.
sudo apt-get remove appmenu-gtk indicator-appmenu overlay-scrollbar liboverlay-scrollbar-0.1-0
This will remove the global menus and that annoying scrollbar so you have to use your mouse/trackpad less often.
*edit: Hard reboot right after the install-part.
*edit2 git was missing on my ubuntu-install. I'd suggest you to add it to your apt-get line.

If you can get me like a guide or something to do that, i would love to. im working on something else right now, but should be able to do that really quick. next update will have an update feature to automatically check for updates.
i know this is a noob question (i think you wil get more off them since the one-click installer for windows)
- how to correctly use this script
- will this affect the working off my dualboot configuration (for one click installer)
very excited for this. is there a guide for this script or can we just execute?
download the script, right click on the file and mark it as an executable under properties.
open a terminal, ch to the folder you´ve downloaded the script and run
$sudo ./kernelupdater.sh
I would love to get Linux Mint (any flavor, but considering our hardware, prob LMDE or LXDE is most realistic, although IDK if any debian flav is compiled for ARM?) built into a flashable image. Ubuntu is wasted on a machine with limited RAM and a non-standard file system.
I am not a developer, but I certainly would help as much as possible any person who would like to get moving and use our hardware to its fullest extent!
Like I said, any interested parties, please PM me.

LinuxInstaller Compatibility-Patch

Because the App "Linux Installer" does not work very well on defy(missing /proc/config.gz and mkfs.ext*-binaries) I wrote a simple patch which adds these functionalities so LinuxInstaller will work without any problems.
This patches your android-system and NOT the LinuxInstaller-App.
After the patch has been installed every LinuxInstaller will work and you don't net to apply the patch again after updating!
The only important setting which you have to make in LinuxInstaller is to set the ext-version to 3(CM7) or 4(CM9 with ext4-support). ext2 is not supported by our kernel.
Description for Devs:
Code:
This does two things:
- replacing mke2fs-binary with another one which supports mkfs.ext2, mkfs.ext3 and mkfs.ext4
- installing ikconfig as kernel-module. this adds the node "/proc/config.gz" so the App can determine the phones configuration
Thank u!
will try...

[ROM][CM7.2] KEvolution v1.1

Hi everyone!
I made my own ROM and want to share it with G3 community
KEvolution v1.0 features:
Based on Marcellusbe's CM7.2 RC3 (Alpha8.3 port for Galaxy3). [Android 2.3.7]
Deodexed
Prerooted
Custom kernel- G3MOD v2.5:
- CWM v5.0.2.8 Touch Recovery
- Multiboot
- Overclock up to 1,2 GHz
- Governors: lagfree, conservative, ondemand, userspace, powersave and performance
- Voodoo v10
- Hybrid Data2SD (it works like apps2sd script, available on first boot if you have SD card partitioned)
Zipaligned
2 launchers: Holo and TW
Custom theme (ICS by achep)
Custom bootanimation (CM9 bootanimation)
Removed some useless apps: Gallery3D, Voice Dialer, Development, Spare Parts, Protips, RomManager, Sound Recorder, Download Provider, Html viewer, Latin Ime Tutorial, Livewallpapers
Added apps: QuickPic, ES File Explorer, SuperSU, Terminal Emulator, XDA, Voodoo Control
CM9 sounds
Custom wallpaper
Kyrillos' tweaks (from his ROM):
- build.prop tweaks
- modded mms.apk
- Kyrillos-tweaks script
- adfree
- full APN for instant internet access
Not working list is same as our CM7 port:
Bluetooth- A2DP
Video recording
Sometimes video can lag
Some games with graphic not yet supported by OpenFIMG drivers
How to install:
Flash it as an update.zip package through recovery.
I'll provide ODIN package later on. If you don't have recovery there's workaround. Download G3MOD v2.5 kernel, flash it and enter recovery by pushing VOL+ and VOL- and HOME keys when powering on. Then Update.zip->Select .zip from Sdcard and choose KEvoultion vx.x.zip. Wait and then Go Back, Reboot and use.
Changelog:
v1.1
- QuickPic is now working
- Switched apps2sd script to Hybrid Data2SD, so apps are now installed on sd_ext partition

Everyone who makes a ROM seems to make the quickpic mistake @dev, you need to extract the quickpic apk and move the lib file to /system/lib.
rom flashing
How to flash this rom??there is no.tar file here
@up There is no tar you flash it via recovery. If you are on CM7 you can flash it trough recovery immediately, but if you are on froyo first flash a CM7 rom via Odin(for example Kyrillos 10.6 it has a tar file) and then flash this via recovery.
So yeah, I think we are at a point when I'll need your help!
I don't have any further ideas how to improve this ROM. Everything is working fine and updating just for changing look isn't the best idea. Please post your ideas for improvements, what you want to have in your ROM of dreams etc.
And now my plans!
I just started my winter holidays and I will have a lot of free time so I'm planning to compile my own kernel and make a wide search for new features I will be able to include in the next version of ROM.
Still waiting for feedback!
