GSII Samsung Keypad? - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

I've seen this in many reviews that the default keyboard that Galaxy S II users use, is a bit similar to the one we have, except with a few minor changes with the skin, popups and stuff like that. Has anyone made a port by any chance or is doing it?

Keyboard cases that aren't terrible?

So recently, I got sick of my Samsung Epic 4G despite it running the latest Android and being, generally, a great phone. I decided to go to the S4 when I saw bluetooth keyboards were available for it. I like the idea of slider keyboards as my Epic has a five row one that works flawlessly. I'm now asking for any keyboards that people have found that aren't god awful.
So I bought this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009MJ0V5E/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And it is honestly the worst product I have ever bought. Not only is it IDENTICAL to every slider case that exists on amazon (A lot of different brands, too), it has MANY problems.
-The buttons are hard to press down
-The space bar is the width of two letter keys across. TINY
-Delete key is intuitively placed BETWEEN KEYS.
-Delete key is also the size of one letter key.
-No spacing between keys
-Caps and FN keys are not toggle-able.
-Only a 4 row keyboard, so numbers are "FN" buttons
-This requires holding down the FN key to use a series of numbers
Overall, it was the biggest disappointment in my life. It's bad enough where I'm selling the S4 and going back to my Epic. If anyone finds a good BT keyboard and wants to stop me from making this decision, by all means. And there's a white version floating about that's exactly the same that prices anywhere from $30-90.
Go back to your epic. If you really need a slider keyboard THAT bad then this isn't the phone for you. Doubt you'll like any bluetooth keyboard.

Been waiting on a post like this for a while. I'm in the same spot. Love my Epic, wish I had 3 extra processors.
I've been looking at this case recently:

and am waiting on some feedback as I'd hate to go all in only to be let down.

It's the problem that there's really only one bluetooth keyboard. If one is to look on Amazon, they all have an identical design, aside from the ones that really are full-sized keyboards.
The problem is that the iPhone crowd started a trend of "buttons are so barbaric". Every phone company jumped on board because adding a keyboard meant higher manufacturing cost. Back when the HTC Touch Pro was on the market, it was thee biggest phone. Now keyboard phones are released with last-years mid-range specs. To get latest specs, you have to axe the keyboard. I simply don't know why Samsung doesn't release their own BT add-on. It's possible, and with a real company behind it, it might actually be a good add-on. There wouldn't be so many clones on Amazon (and there are near a hundred different "companies" that released the same bluetooth keyboard on Amazon) if there weren't a significant amount of buyers.

It's the exact same keyboard only in white. The fact that it's $80 adds layers of insult to injury. Sorry man, wouldn't make the purchase.
I mean, this add-on makes the phone significantly thicker than my Epic, but I'm a guy. They put pockets on our jeans.

These look like the other option you have, but I don't see anything else. The delete key seems to be in a better position.
i prefer physical kb also. not sure the battery drain from having bt on all the time would be worth it.

*sigh*
I'm wondering if I could frankenstein something out of my spare Samsung Epic and my S4. Would likely require more know-how with the software than I currently have.
epic 4g is still a great phone, the most ergonomic i've ever used and the keyboard really comes in handy not only for typing but as a "holder" to view the screen & navigate
these days i use it as a remote/mouse when i hook my PC up to the tv and it works flawlessly

nearly identical case comparison

I've been looking at cases being offered from amazon retailers and while I like the looks of them, I'm a little hesitant due to the talk of the effects of magnets on the spen. My first question is: Are the keyboard cases that have a leathery appearance made by Omoton, Moko, Khomo, Supernight, eWonder, Ivso, QQ-Tech, Photonic and Fome all essentially the same product with only slight cosmetic differences? If this is the case would I be correct in guessing that all of the manufactures that make this kind of case have the same problem with the spen? Or is there something I'm missing that sets some of these apart? I have noticed that some of them use slightly different keyboard designs.
I am asking this as my introductory post to this forum because to my knowledge, a comparison like this has not been done before here (I did look).
Hopefully once the URL restriction is lifted, if people wish I can add a list of the different items that I see a remarkable similarity to. For now, if people are wanting clarification on what exactly I'm talking about, look up "MoKo Bluetooth Keyboard Cover Case for Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 inch GT - N5100 / N5110 Android Tablet, BLACK" as an example of what I'm talking about. Aside from color and texture differences, the others I'm asking about are largely the same.
cool thanks

How Android is seen

Slight rant. I find it increasingly difficult to explain to people the wonder that is vanilla android. This stock experience I have come to love on my nexus 5 (coming from a touchwiz galaxy s3/s4) is something I want to share with my friends with apple devices, and even other android devices. I'm a bit of an android fanboy here but Ive owned apple devices and I will say they are very solid devices for the most part (nothing is perfectly stable). The biggest argument apple guys make to me is that android is ugly, laggy, buggy, and the devices are poorly built, made of plastic etc. And I don't think these people are lying. The devices they have seen may be this way. Look at it like this. What is the #1 device you see people having. Galaxys right? The Samsung Galaxy s4, s5, note 2, note 3. The most advertised android devices hands down. When someone is getting a high end smartphone for the first time or switching from apple, they will most likely go with a Samsung device. "HTC? What's that. A Samsung galaxy? Ive heard of that I'll take that one." HTC and LG are catching up in market share, but to me, Samsung devices still seem the most popular.
Now I'm not saying touchwiz is particularly bad. Im not saying that at all. In fact I have not extensively used it since jellybean, and that was only briefly, so i can't say its bad right now. What I will say, is back then, it was very very ugly to me. The colors, icons, launcher, animations, I just didn't like it at all. Granted, much of this you can change, (new launcher, icon pack, ect.) But you are still sitting with this skin on top of your lovely vanilla android. I know android encourages this, even in their new ads, "Be together, not the same" but often times these skins are unoptimized, filled with bloatware, and laggy even being powered by powerful hardware. My galaxy s3 back with cyanogenmod 10 was smoother than my more powerful s4 with touchwiz kit Kat (the 10 minutes it was on there). I could practically see the frames on my home screens when I popped the device out of the box. Not a good feeling. Another thing ive heard is that android is complicated. In android, customization is a big thing. But I can see how someone may be at bit overwhelmed (using Samsung again as an example because its the only skin I truly know) with all these features of their new phones, and while some may be useful, some I do consider gimmicks like waving your hand to transition between screens, and others. Basically, as far as I can tell, no skinned version of android is as smooth as vanilla. All these skins are on TOP of vanilla android itself making it even heavier. How could they be? Apple guys, they like simple and smooth. That's what iOS is. And so is vanilla android. Especially with lollipop. Basically, I want the general reception of android to be this beautiful smooth OS that I use, rather than the ugly mess that it CAN be (not always) skinned. And I believe the latter is how its looked at as of now to the majority.
The way that an phone looks and operate is something one should be considering, but there's another thing to consider which is the power underlying the kernel. I use Cyanogenmod because I am able to emulate CD/USB at kernel level and that opens me up the opportunity to replace flash drives, and to replace CDs. Another thing is that Cyanogenmod allows for root operation by default which gives me the opportunity to do things I wouldn't do without root.
Me trying to explain to iPhone guys why I prefer Android is like me trying to explain why I think This is Spın̈al Tap is the funniest movie ever made to people who make that claim about Anchorman and Zoolander. Or trying to understand why people slather ranch dressing all over every damned thing they eat. People do/like things I just don't get. I'm sure the reverse is true.
The best way to promote Android is variety and customization. You can choose from many companies and interfaces. With 3rd party launchers you can make your phone look the way you want it to, despite most manufacturer ROM appearances. And don't forget homescreen widgits. Meanwhile, every iPhone looks like every other damn (un-jailbroken) iPhone out there because you can't do bugger-all to customize. And we're not even getting in to root or custom ROMs...

Keyboard cases

I'm looking at the S5 as an upgrade to my defunct Captivate Glide. Does anyone know if any cases with a built in keyboard are available for the S5? Google turns up loads, but they all seem to have been discontinued...
s5 too small.

find one. but its to expensive and i dont know the seller

Physical keyboard Cover for note4

I know that note5, s8, note8,... have available a physical qwerty keyboard accessory.
However I cannot see any info about it for note4, I suppose Samsung made it only for later models but what about third parties.
Does this accessory require any hardware feature/support on the device?
Otherwise maybe it would be possible to hack the note5 keyboard to make it work in note4.
What do u think?
A BT keyboard would work, saw one the other day when investigating the same thing.
Dunno about Note 5-> Note 4 mod tho.

I saw this DIY keyboard, that's nice for work at home/flight etc, but not for walking/outdoor uses.
In fact, now there is a Linux/android PDA called Gemini which looks pretty similar.
I am looking for a vertical physical keyboard
