I was wondering if I missed something here, I saw some people's sig's saying they where running 2.3.3 on there SGS4G's and it said there kernal was bali 2.1 I saw a couple peoples saying that is there really a way yet to get bali on the new GB I thought you had to flash it thru cwm which gb doesnt have.
From my understanding it doesn't even support 2.3 yet.
Why start a thread about it instead of sending a pm to the few who has it in their sig? Would get a faster response no? Not only that, if people were to read all the pages in each thread they wouldn't miss a thing

I use sgs kernel flasher to flash the kernels. so i think they would have to use this on GB because there is no cmw yet. its in the market
Bali is froyo source. Not gb source. Plus, partitions are encrypted and will only work with the UNMODIFIED STOCK kernel.

If people read they wouldn't need to ask unless they stated that they read it but still don't understand. Please forgive the uncle scrooge in me. Im trying to stay up to date and I have to fish through all the posts/threads to find a useful anwser. Reading the same questions over and over is getting tiring when the answer was on the previous page.

Simple answer....no gb kernel source, no kernel tweaks or additions.

Maybe we should do what was suggested in the vibrant forum months ago and have a new thread for each update. When you get into the 4th or 5th update and over 100 pages that 75 are thanks this flies it gets confusing and hard to find an answer.

haha thats forums for you tho, i dont think all posters know proper forum etiquette
I heard this special from Samsung to AT&T dismissed by one of the pillars of this community as it's conglomeration of hardware is somehow disagreeable. Hence my respect to that with the title of this thread.
I am stuck at:
ODIN MODE
Product name: SGH-I727
custom binary download: NO
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
<picture of phone on left and yellow ! triangle middle, and on the right pic of pc
under that it says:
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
I am stuck there. (I unplugged during download mode) Any help for this ignorant biker who tried getting root first thing before even setting up his new phone would be appreciated.

So do you have the SR or the ATT SGS2 ? IF you have the sgs2 then look in the development thread for a return to stock rom. It has directions to get you back to stock firmware. I know some people accident flashed i9100 international sgs2's and they were able to get back with the return to stock.

If you have the SR you will need to go to there forums for a fix.

I have windows 7 on the pc and the yellow triangle with the exclamation point for a skyrocket phone. I plugged during download mode. Stuck at Odin. I read the stuff, downloaded stuff, is there a link to fire up Odin on Windows 7? I downloaded tar files and stuff but can't do anything with them. I am pleased to report it worked very well. Thank you very much for your helpful reply kornklown69.
I wonder why you smart people always assume so much and leave out details obvious to yourselves and a mystery to an ordinary biker?
If I hadn't been voraciously reading every page of as many threads as I have, spending as many hours as I can every day for weeks on end now (started with an att Infuse), I would still have been clueless.
I felt SO empowered when I realized the puzzle. The link you provided took me to the {How to][Tar][Odin] thread. Read the whole thing. Sounded promising. Got my stuff together, I'm not "rogers", check. My computer and cords have been performing flawlessly, check. Who cares about this counter and maybe I will end up getting a jig, and end up stashing it with my HDMI cord 'n stuff, check.
Hey where is the link for Odin?
STILL "where is the link to Odin" it finally dawned on me to use the Forum tool button and search for "Odin 1.85"
Bingo. A tiny little file that downloaded in no time, compared to the hour it took to download the TAR.
My elevator has been up for a long time my door just wouldn't open. Thank you for the help, and thank you for indulging, I digress.

Hey guys, I have a question. Yes I searched before posting this. So I am having an issue with the one click odin ICS leak. It used to work fine but now whenever you press the home button it has a slow reaction and slightly weaker vibration. The other buttons work fine. I did a factory reset but that didnt fix it. I reinstalled the whole ics from odin. That didnt fix it. Its not the phone because it works fine on other roms. The home button still works but it has a slow reaction and weaker vibration. Thanks so much to whoever can help me!

Sorry. Wanted to put this in another edit but xda app acting up, as usual lol.
In an attempt to be helpful and to prevent the derailing of this thread:
I BELIEVE this has been an issue on many stock implementations of ics.
I vaguely remember talking about this stuff on the first leak. So, it would make sense that using a different rom would fix the issue as our devs are savvy to such things.

I'd say the easiest route(if you can get it into download) might be to find a friend with a windows computer that you can borrow for a few minutes to load up odin and drop the stock rom back on it.

I figured that I might post this to help some people as I see this posted a lot.
Are you one of the ones that tried to install a custom recovery on the MF3 update? Are you facing a never ending boot sequence or device just freezing at boot screen?
Try this to help you get a normal boot so your phone is at least usable. (Note that your factory recovery will no longer work!)
First off, do a battery pull.
After you put the battery back in (make sure it's not plugged up) go into download mode.
Click Cancel instead of continuing into download mode. Chances are your device will boot up normal. I've tried this with a device I own and also tried it on a few others (through PM and chat online).
If this works for you please let me know!
Lol I figured this out in 2 mins of owning the phone.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 4

You should change the title...EXTREMELY misleading...sounds more like a thread for a workaround to install a custom recovery lol

Fine I'll change it. I was just trying to help some folks that post the same things every day that you get mad at and bash around.

Your doing fine...you just got my hopes up lol. But something a little more specific like workaround for failed recovery flash or fix mf3 bootloop or similar

Yeah it'd be good to have this info in a better titled thread than it was...and an even better titled thread than this one.
Maybe: [How To] Unbrick MF3 after (stupidly ignorantly) attempting to install a custom recovery
Anyways, it was first discovered here, as far as I can tell:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2398336
(post 11)
And there's an alternative method too, if that didn't work:

Guys I'd appreciate it if you didn't spam up this topic with nonsense.
The phone is not bricked for one.
It was never publicly announced what to do one these forums that I could find.
Edit: I just read your posted topics and neither one says to do this
The questions are asked every day by people.
This post has potential to stop some messages.
Stop posting here just to get your post count up. If you don't have anything relavent to say then find another topic.
For the guys post above me thanks for adding more ways to help try to do a workaround even though you tried to undermine me here.

no worry bro--you did good--many new folks don't know that
and, you can't please everyone

If you're stuck in download mode and cannot get to your OS, I think that counts as a brick! Yes, btw, post 11 in the first thread I linked shows the solution which I have been telling others to do...which you did us the favor of making a post about as well. I agree that it's good to make this post, though I think your thread title could be more useful if you edited it.
Also, should this method not work for some people, an alternative method is a good thing to have.
Thanks again and have a nice day! :good:
I seem to be helping folks with the issue I have posted here in many other post. Have also had some PM's about it. Any suggestions on making this more searchable?

Funny lol. Well, I tried. And failed lol. Was just trying to save some others time that keep getting so stressed about answering some of the same questions over and over.

I think my suggestion in post #8 is still a good one.
Your current thread title makes it sound like you tried to flash a custom recovery on MF3 and it didn't work. There's no way anyone would read that title and think there's a "How To" guide in it.
Alright maybe that will work.

Lol I found this thread after I figured it out for myself. I was kind of hoping this would lead me into a way to get back my recovery.
This is how I fixed my brick.
Flashed this file in ODIN. Now my phone boots normally. Got it from another thread with a diff issue here on XDA. I tried it and it worked. Wish I could remember where and what the thread was called. I believe it was this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2360859
