bricked skyrocket! PLZ HELP - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

today i accidently deleted all roms without even knowing it, when i went to flash another rom i did the wipe data and all that and when i went to choose another rom thier wasnt any now my phone just goes to the samsung screen and thats it ..how do i fix iT? and i am using a mac so i cannot download odin

can you get in to cwm recovery, if yes, then it depends where you put your rom, internal or external sdcard, copy the rom to both

So you wiped everything then didn't flash anything then tried to reboot?
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I'd say the easiest route(if you can get it into download) might be to find a friend with a windows computer that you can borrow for a few minutes to load up odin and drop the stock rom back on it.

He still has recovery he's just a noob who lacks common sense pull battery replace battery go back to recovery Mount USB storage DL a ROM zip on your Mac place ROM on phone do wipes and flash. :banghead: derp

You're not bricked; you're just having a panic attack. Get into download mode and restore stock through ODIN. And, going forward, don't try to boot a phone with no OS...

I've always believed in that, but find myself going against it by posting this.
I realize some of the newer members get annoying by constantly nagging & flashing wrong things & generally messing up their phone. Then asking for help.
But what good comes from laughing at someone or flaming someone who just smoked a $400 phone ?

But, yeah, my bad for skipping the last sentence.

Flashed rom via clockwork BRICK...PISSED!!!

So just being bored, i decided to flash a t-mobile rom, via clockwork rom manager, now the skyrocket wont even power on. So thanks Rom Manager for the bricked phone, Bad Buisness....
First sorry to hear that man. Ive never trusted rom manager to flash, I always use clockwork mod. Have you tried pulling the battery and try to get into download mode?

Why would you blame ROM Manager for your mistake?
A. Anytime you flash anything (even if its the correct ROM flashed the correct way (CWM)) you always assume responsibility yourself.
B. You flashed a T-mobile ROM on your AT&T Skyrocket. If done right, it usually works, but it still adds extra risk.
C. You said you were "just messing around". Anyone that doesn't want a bricked phone should take flashing or modifying anything serious...not just messing around.
D. Most of the ROMS you are supposed to flash on the SkyRocket give detailed directions in the OP. Any I have sen all say to use CWM and give great instructions.
I don't see how any of this is ROM Managers bad business? Hopefully this will be a good tale of precaution for others before they brick their phone not paying attention. Sorry to hear about your phone, but take the blame for yourself...not ROM manager.

Thanks. I'm not trying to give the guy a hard time. He just bricked (atleast soft-bricked) his phone so I'm sure he really is pissed. But blaming an app for it when it isn't the apps fault starts alot of confusion. If something really is wrong with an app, we all need to know about it so it can be tested / fixed/ avoided / reported / etc...If the fault is with the phone's owner than the phone's owner needs to take responsibility for the problem and stop blaming the creators of useful apps (and ROMS) for the problems.

It bricked because ROM manager doesn't recognize the recovery on the skyrocket. It's something in the first line of the app.
Although, I might agree with you and blame ROM manager also if it let you flash a ROM while it couldn't detect a recovery. That's just straight up ****ty oversight on the developer.

Try Samsung first. Tell them it just derped one day when you tried to turn it on. If they believe you, it might take a week or two but you'll get another phone. Samsung will just fix it and give it to the next person that has a warranty replacement as a "referbished" unit. They won't lose money and you will get a new phone. That is if they believe you.
still a 200 dollar deductible..i could probably smoose out of it...but i would actually like to fix it my self..just for the experience.....oh and the Rom was called Ziggy and Mobstergunz..(minimal triumph.v1.02..state away from that ****

[Q] Unroot my SGSII

Ok,
I'm trying to Unroot my phone and I've looked all around, including outside of XDA and I cannot find a fix. The K0nane method is a no go. Everytime I run it through ODIN it fails, giving me the DL screen of death on my phone. (phone----caution-----computer) I have to reflash the CWM .zip and it works again.
Can someone please PLEASE point me in the direction of a comprehensive unroot method? It would be greatly appreciated.
(yes I've looked, I've searched, I've combed, I cannot find anything that works for my Skyrocket.)
Any idea why Odin method doesn't work? Try the tar from sammy. Try a different version of Odin. Try a different computer or USB slot. Theres no reason it shouldn't work. Maybe reinstall drivers. Have you tried all that?
Sent from my SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
Have you Odin'ed the .tar from sammobile.com yet? It will take you back to original 2.3.5 unrooted and 3e recovery. Seems you are comfortable with Odin. Your phone will be unrooted. Make a backup of calls, schedules, messages and etc. With Kies then restore after you flash back to stock. You will have to redownload all of your apps. If you had a nandroid of 2.3.5 you could restore it then use the zergrush exploit to unroot.

Make sure your phone is connected via USB at moment you place the phone into firmware update (download mode) konane tar and Odin should work I hope that this is mistake you are making and that it works out for you mate.
---------- Edit---------
Make sure the phone is hooked up to the computer and then do the same step you would do to place the phone into recovery mode, without the USB cable connected your phone will not go into download mode. Make sure none of the boxes on the top are checked in.
Hey thanks guys, i'm looking into all of this asap. I appreciate all.the responses as soon as i'm back to a computer thanks to all.

Odds are if it doesn't work for your skyrocket means you are doing it wrong . Odin failing can happen for a variety of reasons. Bad usb cable, not using a Motherboard usb port on PC (if desktop use rear USB ports, don't use any adapters or external USB hubs), not using Download mode. Just to be sure run ODIN as admin. Plenty of references in general and Q&A.

Again thanks so much guys, and for the record, after getting flamed enough times in the past for posting a question that I know damn well has been asked, yes I'll dump HOURS into combing the threads and googling and checking various other sources before I ask anymore. Not too recently. It just happens from time to time. Flashed i777 kernel to i727

And now my Galaxy S2 i727 won't turn on or boot into download mode. I was told getting a jig may fix it but if my phone won't turn on would I be able to use a jig?
Is there any way to make my phone functional again or am I out of luck?
well that was stupid lol. sorry bud you might be able to jtag it but idk good luck
Yeah, you're hard-bricked. A jig would almost certainly be a waste of time and money. Send it to the jtag guy for $50 or buy a new one, maybe try to warranty it out through Sammy if you want to risk them finding out that you'd been flashing and broken the warranty.
Not to rub salt in the wound or anything, but had you paid close attention and read before flashing, you'd have noticed that you were about to flash an SGS2 kernel onto a SR, and riding full-speed on the train to Bricksville.

thats why the last part of my sig says what it says.
the 1st link in my sig has a link for brick repair, but first try to get it fixed under warranty, just say that it wont turn on anymore and act dumb about flashing...which is not to far from the truth
Smh.....another one bites the dust this is why I get so angry nobody takes time to learn about their $400+ device but then we are supposed to help them fix it..... my faith in the ability of our society to learn is dead I can't wait to see what happens when these generations get older

Not to be an advocate of noobs... i was kinda confused at first too. BUT never took rooting and flashing as a joke so I read and read... took me a week or so before rooting (already reading up on skyrocket and S2 prior to purchase though) and more than 6 months of reading before flashing Embryo 6.
Rooting is the new cool aid... wish some people will quit trying to be cool and really understand what they are doing. Most noobs just wants to brag that they have a custom rom as though it elevates their standing in life. Geeez.

And now my Galaxy S2 i727 won't turn on or boot into download mode. I was told getting a jig may fix it but if my phone won't turn on would I be able to use a jig?
Is there any way to make my phone functional again or am I out of luck?

One main cause of brick

So I check tapa talk everyday and literally everyday there is either a post about someone bricking their phone and what not and you see that makes sense because we aren't perfect but one thing is just like a duh for me . why are you flashing a ROM that isn't compatable with the phone if you are using Verizon s3 then use the ROMs made just for that . most of the posts I read are about people flashing a international ROM or something like stop haha . xda is well organized to the point where you should know where to browse for what you are looking for . so for all of you beginning flashers make sure the ROM is compatible with your phone /service before you end up bricking . well thanks for reading thought I'd just put my input up

Thanks for that but if they do not read the giant capital letters in the international section stickies that say "DO NOT FLASH THESE ROMS UNLESS ON THE INTERNATIONAL VERSION" They are not going to read this. BUT they will AFTER they brick their device. Suddenly they know exactly where to look for help even though it is too late.
I get my roms from goo.im anyways, rarely do I go through XDA for that. Although I once flashed a Rom without unlocking the bootloader, and it's not like I didn't know that I had to unlock it, it's just a stupid mistake that can be easy to make, same with flashing wrong roms

Yeah understandable but flashing a wrong ROM can seriously mess up your phone but I mean if this problem occurs rarely then yeah you know its fine but if it occurs often then its a problem considering most of the "bricked" posts on Q/A are about people flashing wrong romz

[How to] Unbrick MF3 Custom Recovery Fail

I figured that I might post this to help some people as I see this posted a lot.
Are you one of the ones that tried to install a custom recovery on the MF3 update? Are you facing a never ending boot sequence or device just freezing at boot screen?
Try this to help you get a normal boot so your phone is at least usable. (Note that your factory recovery will no longer work!)
First off, do a battery pull.
After you put the battery back in (make sure it's not plugged up) go into download mode.
Click Cancel instead of continuing into download mode. Chances are your device will boot up normal. I've tried this with a device I own and also tried it on a few others (through PM and chat online).
If this works for you please let me know!
Lol I figured this out in 2 mins of owning the phone.

You should change the title...EXTREMELY misleading...sounds more like a thread for a workaround to install a custom recovery lol

Fine I'll change it. I was just trying to help some folks that post the same things every day that you get mad at and bash around.

Your doing fine...you just got my hopes up lol. But something a little more specific like workaround for failed recovery flash or fix mf3 bootloop or similar

Yeah it'd be good to have this info in a better titled thread than it was...and an even better titled thread than this one.
Maybe: [How To] Unbrick MF3 after (stupidly ignorantly) attempting to install a custom recovery
Anyways, it was first discovered here, as far as I can tell:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2398336
(post 11)
And there's an alternative method too, if that didn't work:

Guys I'd appreciate it if you didn't spam up this topic with nonsense.
The phone is not bricked for one.
It was never publicly announced what to do one these forums that I could find.
Edit: I just read your posted topics and neither one says to do this
The questions are asked every day by people.
This post has potential to stop some messages.
Stop posting here just to get your post count up. If you don't have anything relavent to say then find another topic.
For the guys post above me thanks for adding more ways to help try to do a workaround even though you tried to undermine me here.

no worry bro--you did good--many new folks don't know that
and, you can't please everyone

If you're stuck in download mode and cannot get to your OS, I think that counts as a brick! Yes, btw, post 11 in the first thread I linked shows the solution which I have been telling others to do...which you did us the favor of making a post about as well. I agree that it's good to make this post, though I think your thread title could be more useful if you edited it.
Also, should this method not work for some people, an alternative method is a good thing to have.
Thanks again and have a nice day! :good:
I seem to be helping folks with the issue I have posted here in many other post. Have also had some PM's about it. Any suggestions on making this more searchable?

I think my suggestion in post #8 is still a good one.
Your current thread title makes it sound like you tried to flash a custom recovery on MF3 and it didn't work. There's no way anyone would read that title and think there's a "How To" guide in it.
Alright maybe that will work.

Lol I found this thread after I figured it out for myself. I was kind of hoping this would lead me into a way to get back my recovery.
This is how I fixed my brick.
Flashed this file in ODIN. Now my phone boots normally. Got it from another thread with a diff issue here on XDA. I tried it and it worked. Wish I could remember where and what the thread was called. I believe it was this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2360859
