it is possible, that is the day the nexus prime will be released in the UK.
Hopefully it comes true. The leak was from the CEO of Notion Ink, who also let slip the Gingerbread release date over a year ago...so there could be some credibility to the leak. I for one can't wait until my NegriElectronics Galaxy Nexus arrives...just a couple days...
After going through a pile of phones in the last year I'm ecstatic for the new Nexus. None of the dual core phones I've owned were any better than the others (well mostly, IMO) and GalNex just epitomizes the current generation of phone. As non-Tegra3 quad cores are still a long ways off (and after Tegra2, I have absolutely no desire for a mobile Nvidia product), this should do nicely for a year or more.

I think Tegra 3's will start rolling out Q1-Q2 worldwide but nothing subsidized in the US till this time next year or early 2013. By then we'll also start seeing some other quad-core chips to compete. I don't see the need to waste your money on any phone right now if you own a G2x.

I've actually gone through a couple phones since getting my G2x. I still have it but find myself using the Sensation more. Since selling my NexusS to get the G2x, I've found myself constantly missing the Google updates and just Nexus'ness. My G2x has been an ok experience, but I have no great attachment to it. I dont really game so the advantages of Tegra are kinda nullified in comparison to other SoC's. The form factor is awesome, but mine has too many issues. I'm unsatisfied with the build quality and performance of the Sensation. The T-mobile line is my personal line, and selling both the G2x and Sensation pays for an unsubsidized Galaxy Nexus. After using a qHD phone extensively, I really miss the higher resolution screen when using other phones. I dont need more than two phones, and honestly the Galaxy Nexus dots every 'i' and crosses every 't' in my ideal phone spec sheet/experience. If the combo of Galaxy Nexus + ICS is as good as I think it will be, then not a waste of money to me at all. But everyone's different.
I'm so pumped, i've been lurking the g2x forums for a while now waiting for some news on ics and i've finally gotten the new news! However I want to warn everyone now, I am a NOOB!

Same thing as the infuse just a smaller screen and a little bit better of specs...waste of money imo...
S7 Infuse 1.6 Ghz
I'll have to compare the two in person to see if it's worth the jump. Very small spec differences on paper so we'll see how it goes.
Wait a couple months get a better phone.
Sgs2 will not compete with the phones coming up IMO
Then how do you think the infuse competes... I don't understand your position
I dont think it does, not within the next couple months anyway and with the little Dev/Roms i do feel that way.
im waiting on the Prime, then i will just give the infuse away, prob to my mother who still has the Captivate.
again this is just MY opinion.....i have been reading up on devices coming out. and i think they held the SGS2 off to long with HTC's new phone ( Runnymeade ) and then Nexus Prime and a few others i dont see this phone competing
ALL MY OPINION though

Agreed- Unfortunately. Although I enjoyed the S2 while I had it I did have a few complaints (all personal opinion) BUT with the recent talks about the Galaxy S3 and Nexus Prime I'm defiantly waiting being that I'll be gone from November to sometime at least after January with no phone or anything else I own with me I'd rather wait.
I will say -Phone technology is exploding and soon the market will be flooded with amazing devices that far surpass their predecessors. Pretty exciting stuff looking at what we have now & what is due out soon. For $700+ I didn't think the S2 was all that worth it, but for those that do want one & that could pick it up for the upgrade cost...MUCH better deal for around $200 that's worth every penny regardless of what I felt was wrong.

And your phone isn't outdated? The SGS 2 is basically 2 of everything from the infuse. dual core 1.2GHz CPU, 1GB ram, 32GB internal storage.
Explain how that works, please.
i answered this already, and agree with you 100%
the infuse will be outdated as well, hence why im giving mine away when i pick my next phone, prob the Nexus Prime if it hits At&t
If history is any indication, it's rumored release in Europe later this year means that the U. S will get it around march of next year.

The Nexus S 4G (which wasn't really different), so I did do a bit of keyboard-in-mouth, for a minute there I did forget the Nexus S came out on T-Mobile first. Tired.
I came from the Nexus One, bought the G2x off-contract, specically to be able to pick up the Nexus Prime at a discount.
I just hope the nexus prime won't disappoint. Rumors on specs are mixed. The qualcomm chips in the Tmo SG2 and Amaze are meh. Also 5mp camera is meh.... other specs say it'll have the Exynos chipset and 8mp cam. Some say Verizon will get it first others say T-Mobile. Verizon has the Droid Prime with similar specs already and aren't ones to keep it clean with Android.
Either way, if the specs are worthwhile over the G2x, I'll grab it.
Best solution for me personally would be Verizon with sweet specs as my old work blackberry needs upgraded and I set up our new exchange to work properly so my company is allowing Android sets now... meaning I can kill my $70 personal T-Mobile line, sell my G2x and profit.
LG G2x - 2.3.5 MIUI

I honestly don't think it's that much of an upgrade of our G2x's. Our phone is still up to par with alot of the phones out there now.. Once we get ICS on this thing, we should be fine.
Will it work on at&t?

Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I know everyone wants the latest and greatest, but sometimes it's a bit overkill. Unless you have a good job with 500+ bucks to throw I don't see why we should be running to get the Prime when you already have a Tegra 2 Dual core device. Nothing can even tough this device yet.
It'd be hard for me to dump my dual core device for another dual core. At this point might as well wait for whatever the next gen quads come out next year. And once that happens, I don't even know what we'd do with a quad core lol.
Well... We'd buy more batteries, of course.

Lol, I seriously think they should just take a break on the progression of processors, screens, GPU's, etc. and use that time and man power in advancing the technology of battery's... That's literally the only Achilles heel that even the best smartphone's have these days.
At this point, I'd rather have the creation of a 5,000 mAH battery with out changing it's size than a quad core processor.

Agreed ten fold. I'm waiting til the Nexus Double Prime before I plan to upgrade. This phone is doing just fine, and has a very nice set of developers working on it for us.
If they did make quad core phones, I bet the battery life would be at least 20% worse than now. When I'm not even getting super amazing battery life to begin with, it might be a problem.

Yeah, main difference between the two will be updates. Something the G2X will probably never officially see. After the half ass 2.3 update we got I'm pretty much over it.
....
I really don't see the point of quad core phones; unless Google does something unbelievable with Jelly Bean that needs an insane amount of processing, nothing a smartphone does needs that much. Hell, dual core isn't even that necessary unless you run a lot of 3D stuff.
There is such a thing as overkill people. I'd like to see phone manufactorers declare the smartphone as it exists now finished and start working on some new innovations that would make better hardware necessary. 3D screen ala Nintendo 3DS with FFC capable of eye-tracking to orient the 3D so you see it at any angle?
While I agree that the G2x can hold its own, I do miss owning a nexus device. My friend still has his Nexus One and running official software we can only get via custom roms.
My reasoning to grabbing the Nexus Prime IF if launches on Verizon is so my work can pay for it. Unfortunately I heard Verizon is launching the Galaxy Prime.... which is similar but not the nexus prime backed by Google.
Well just have to wait until Tuesday. All the rumors running around its hard to make any reasonable decision.
If Verizon gets gimped on Google support then I'll keep my G2x for a long while.

Basically, I want upgrade my HTC Desire soon, and I'm looking to get something powerful and pretty. I'm leaning heavily towards the RAZR, however I saw the leak that HTC are releasing a quad-core phone early next year, and I'm assuming there will be a couple released prior to that.
In short: will my RAZR be worth getting seeing as quad-core is just around the corner? Or is there anything else due out that'd trump the RAZR (HTC Sensation XE or Nexus Prime)?
I would upgrade now. Even though quad core is coming soon, there won't be enough software out there to fully utilize the potential for awhile.
Yea, I wouldn't go for the quad core phones for now.. That's gonna be the 1st quad phone ever, so it might have leaks etc and better wait til the market is full of quad phones.
That way, prices will go down (don't expect to get quadphones under 500 lol) as well as the number of bugs and error apps will have with 4 cores.
mmk, cheers guys.
and just for piece of mind: opinions on the RAZR? :>

Ok, well...I have actually had a pretty darn good expierience with my g2x...I just don't keep phones for very long. I have an upgrade available on t-mobile and am wanting to hear from you guys what you think I should get.
My wife just got the Sensation 4g, and she loves it....I don't think I like it that much....especially with a stock rom on it.
Was thinking about the SG II, but not too sure what is coming out in the near future. I know SG II will be getting ICS (as will the sensation)...
Let me know what you think.
Galaxy nexus is the obvious answer for a phone that will be coming out, soonish. Just look it up and watch youtube videos that'll pretty much some it up for you.

Just wait till the next big waves of phones come. Probably around Feb or so. Wait for the next generation S4 processors and Exynos.
None of the current phones which don't have ICS installed when you buy one. I also think you should wait until the next "crop" of phones which will have ICS and quad-core processors, more memory, better screens, etc. Also, check out the Android update history of the company, LG is horrible.
I agree with core. Wait till phones have ICS installed and new quad core processors. ICS is the software that will really make dual or quad cores shine due to its capability of multi-threading. Till then just make due. As far as i have seen android usually has a habit of making decent software upgrades every other official release its seems. Like we had donut then éclair but wasn't till froyo came out android was actually looking good. IMHO

I'd say wait for next Gen of phones also. You ask me there's nothing very impressive about this huge galaxy nexus they try to pass off as a phone. If it didn't come out with ics and the nexus name no one would even care. And since a multitude of phones will be upgraded to ics its really not the big deal its hyped up to be.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Ditto on the bandwagon to wait for the next generation. After all the releases the g2x can hold its own. Don't really need a new phone until the following :
1. ICS ROM from CM9 team and manufacturer
2. Easy to root/ develop on
3. Multicore processing
I am very patient. Hell, I bought this g2x on impulse without knowing about xda forum. Never again I paid retail for my phone. Just works out waiting how xda develops a new phone. Better that way. I am very disappointed with amaze 4g and sgs2 from xda forum perspective.
I am a big fan of cm7 and prefer a phone that can run that over stock ROM.
Still, better of waiting. By then prices plunge and you can get great phone at a bargain.

Considering op is talking about an upgrade option being available with tmobile, I'm sure he is only looking at subsidized plans. The nexus is not subbed so it will cost him 700 up front. So if your talking about saving subsidized phone you might see much of an upgrade when switching to any of the high end phones being offered right now. You will get extra ram a better screen and better battery but performance will be about on par with your g2x. I would say wait. I don't believe there will be any quad core phones in the next six months but the longer you wait the better the chance your phone might get an official update to jellybean and its possible a quad might appear. It might be buggy cause it's first gen but it's something I guess

Yeah but where is it going to be released to is the question. Samsung phones are usually released 6 months in advanced internationally. Most updated roms are released internationally before it hits these shores. I doubt we will get the first quad core.

I agree with mysterioustko, don't waste lots of money losing money on your G2X and buying something now because you're disatisfied with what you have. Wait until ICS is available for the G2X and evaluate the phone's desirability again. If you're still disatisfied, wait until the new crop of phones are selling with ICS and research the manufacturer's update history and never buy an NVIDIA (Tegra) chipped phone, get one which has chips that have totally open sourced technical information for drivers, etc., such as the Texas Instrument chips in the new Google Nexus phone. When the new crop of phones are first sold, wait a few months until the hype abates and real user and developer experiences/evaluations are available and read them thoroughly. As well, research what independent developers are supporting with alternative kernels and ROMs.

See, I'm not too upset with LG. Admittedly, the G2x isn't the best phone. I won't be the fanboy to indefinitely and baselessly defend LG, NVidia, or their products. But I think a lot of the bad rep the the three have gotten is a little picky. My phone is blazing fast, even faster than my old Sensation, has absolutely superior build quality, screen is great, dev community is pretty decent, etc. I understand people dislike NVidia and LG for their support and that's totally understandable. I've been a huge fan of my G2x; I've had ZERO issues since I bought it. No screen bleed, nothing.
You can count me in on this X3. I own a number of LG products. Hell, I even swapped my flat screen when a newer model came out. LG always improves upon their products, no matter how ****ty the first model. I've been more than content with my G2x and I'll trust LG on their next device. If the dev community suffers because of their negligence, however, it'll be on to the GN.
Ehhh. No im not going to get a device which will be EOL'd in less than a year. The G2X hasnt been around for a year since the release and they eold it before the samsung viberant if im correct. Im buying samsung or htc next.

I just can't believe how easy it was for them to give us a poop update to 2.3 instead of just revamping and fixing the little issues that 2.2 had (mainly data issues for me) I didn't have many issues either and my phone is incredibely dast, faster then my friends Amaze 4G, not overclocked. I want to root his phone and put AOSP on it, he isn't down lol. I just like the metal feel of most HTC phones, and the fact that they put out minor patches and seem to care about their phones that they put out. The G2X needs multiple little patches that has been ignored, LG states over and over that our phone 2X series line will be updated, I want stability over all not major upgrades. the whole time they working (5-7 months on ICS they could put out little patches for 2.3.... #HUGERANT lol
Laughing My Arse Off! They said they learned from their mistakes!
I learned from my mistake!
NVIDIA NEVER AGAIN!
I wouldn't buy an lg gun to shoot myself with. Jk this might be worth a try as a second phone.

I feel the same, I was on the fence on the G2X, I had zero consumer confidence in LG at that time, I was also pressured when the phone was released as my wife was waiting for my MT3GS, I really wanted to wait for the sensation, waiting now for the next good HTC phone to release or possible Nexus if it comes to Tmo

What's wrong with a quad core clocked @ 1.2GHz? You do realize how fast that is, right?
So the problems double.

Why believe them? They would do more for their crappy reputation if they just updated their existing dual core phones now to ICS. The LG X3 is just another scam. Promises, promises, promises, all broken. No more confidence in LG which sucks big time. BTW, Americans and Canadians gave their lives to prevent the Communists from taking over South Korea so that capitalism flourishes in S. Korea so that companies such as LG can exist. LG is a despicable company dishonouring the sacrifices of Americans and Canadians and the virtually free trade which S. Korea enjoys accessing the North American market which it doesn't appreciate. I have an uncle who volunteered for the U.S. army during the Korea conflict and he says that the sacrifice wasn't and isn't worth it because S. Korea plays the trade game one way, their way only, because they don't allow the same access to their market as North America does. Shame on LG for abusing us.
Now I for one would say LG dropped the ball on the g2x however look back to Samsung's and HTC's first phones. All of these companies dropped the ball on there phones. Hopefully LG will understand the higher demand for support for there higher end phones. This was there first attempt in this higher end android market. They failed but so did HTC and Samsung.
