[Q]Manually install market? - Samsung Infuse 4G

Tried to uninstall market and install older version to get rid of the insufficient space problem, and now the market is FCing every time its launched. How would I go about reinatalling it? On infused 2.2.3.

hmmmm. if you were on GTG's infused 2.2.3 he had a market fix in it so not sure why you were still getting that error. are you still having that issue with the newest market? 3.3.11? Did you try clearing data on the mkt app? then reboting?

If I recall correctly the first thing I did was clear market data, reboot, and that's when I encountered fc ... fixed permissions in cwm, didn't work, so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, still no go

1. Copy the Vending.apk of whatever version you want
2. Using Root explorer, go to it location
3. Copy it
4. Go to /system/app
5. Delete or rename to .bak the existing apk
6. Paste the copied Vending.apk
You are good to go here.
I have used root explorer. You could use anything else too of your choice.

This happened to me too. Cos I had to reinstall 2.2.2 again recently for some reason, and my market auto upgraded, and always FCed. No amount of clearing/wiping market data helped.
I did the same steps as I mentioned above, but used the Vending.apk distributed in 2.2.2 (2.2.3 too the same as 2.2.2 except that it uses KI3 modem while 2.2.2 uses KI4). And now market is working all fine.

Replaced the vending.apk with the one in the rom, now it works and I can download large Apps. Thanks guys. Before reboot I was at 39 percent batt., after I'm at 10... weird. Oh and now the percentage is increasing, my phones charging itself ahhhhhhh! (wiped battery stats lol)

market error

okay I broke my market app. I have been trying to get it to work again. Basically I broke it trying to get a previous version of market back on it so I can put a theme on it.
So I get an error, The application market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Market will load. You can search. But if you click on anything it closes.
Here i what I have done.
Restored a back up from titanium.
used the app doctor.
unistalling and reinstalling the market.
Any one have any suggestions??
Wipe all cache in recovery and mount system
Find the update zip of your rom or the vending.apk you plan on pushing and use adb to push it to /system/app
This is the only way I know how to fix it, it helps alot when you try to modify certain apps because the cache effs everything up sometimes

Word. Haven't tried that yet. Give it a shot later. I know I can flash but even with backups I'm not looking forward to a flash.

Hey thanks a bunch!! it worked like a charm. and really, you do have to wipe that cache. That was what was buggering me up every time. Not only do I have my market working again, but I have my themed market back. WOOT!

Installations fail on Android market

Running BAMF 1.6.3 every once and awhile when trying to download from the market I get a "can't install to SD or phone memory" error. Any ideas?

I have the same problem with certain apps from the market (Air Attack HD and Tune Wiki to name a few). I get the message that it "can't install to SD card and I think it also says something about USB. I have gone into BAMF Toolkit and "Application Install Location" and tried all three options and still does not want to work. I read in one post that there is a Market App fix, but I've tried searching for it with no luck. Any help on this would be appreciated
I get the same error with angry birds

Try removing your SD card before download.

Pulling the SD card prior to download did not work for me. I am only getting the error on certain apps. Tune Wiki for example will not install from Market. I then went to their web page and tried to install the app directly (as an attachment from my email) and it won't install from there either. That makes me think that there is a remnant of the program somewhere on my phone or some other error that is preventing this and has nothing to do with the Market App. Does anyone have suggestions. I've installed Root Explorer on my phone, but not exactly sure where I should be looking and what I should be deleting. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm running BAMF 1.6.3.
Read a post about clearing market cache. Still no love. Gonna keep trying. Let's keep this post alive until we figure this out.
Yeah, I tried deleting the Market cache and cleared data and that didn't help. I don't think it is a Market issue though (read my post a couple up), since I can download most apps from the Market. The only ones I have problem with are ones that were previously on my phone, and this is not all of the previous apps, just some of them. Also attempting to install a app (one that I had trouble with from Market) from an email attachment also will not install. Are others that are having this problem having the same symptoms: can download some apps, can't install problem apps from email either?
So I need to back track as now my Market App is not installing anything. I've tried what others have suggested go into Manage Programs and delete cache, clear data and force stop Market app, and that has just made matters worse.

Swype in CM7?

I tried going to swypes website and entering the beta and download swype through the swype downloader app but when i go to enable it it just keeps FC'ing. I also tried pushing swype.apk to /system/app but also get constant FC's. Anyone know how to get swype working on CM7? Thanks.
You have to freeze the original swype that came with the phone by using titanium backup. once you do that then you can install the swype beta

Clear swype data

I had this same thing happening just a couple of days ago. Once I got beta 3 installed.. it just kept FCing. I had to remove it, do the wipes of cache, reinstall... it then stopped. I uninstalled it via titanimumbackup
keep the installer on there.. but remove the beta via titanium backup.. I froze, then hit delete.. remove it. Rebooted into cwm, did the wipes. Then went into the installer app.. and reloaded it.

Android Market Missing?

Today I went to update the apps on my TF101 and couldn't find the market. The link to it on my home screen said that the app was missing. It's not showing up at all in my installed apps list or in Super Manager.
Has anyone heard of this happening?
Market for TF101 available?
Wow, no one. Okay, then it must be something I did (though I don't know what).
What's the best way to re-load the Honeycomb version of the market?
I have never heard of the Market app just disappearing (not to say it can't happen). Try this one to see if it work (it's v 3.3.12)
I installed it as an update but since you're without a Market I'm not sure how it will work for you.
http://www.multiupload.com/DC4KOTPPX0
BTW do you have root?
I do indeed have root. I'm worried that some app I have has deleted the market on me. Removing a bunch of apps while I try to find out. I only need communication and some pentest apps anyway on it.
Downloading the linked file now to give it a test. Thanks for the help!
Well, it worked (installed and connects), but it keeps force closing when I try to update or install any apps.
Try clear data for market, also clear cache for download manger
No joy.
Should I be moving the Market apk to a system app directory? I'd heard before that it needs to be in /system/apps/ somewhere. Or does it install itself to that location?
I have a com.android.vending-1.apk in data/app with Permission rw, r, r
(don't see a Vending.apk like on my phone in system/app).
I don't know what to do, then. Can't get new apps installed with the Market force closing on me. Can't update old either.
Backup up apps and data, you might need to do a factory reset.
Are you on stock ROM or custom ROM?
Stock ROM. Haven't seen a custom ROM for the TF101 that seemed worth it.
Backing up when I get home from work. We'll see if a factory reset will work.
Thanks for the help troubleshooting, baseballfanz.
Well, crap. I factory reset, and I still have no Market.
I definitely need help now. I need to find a Market APK that works.
This is the version that was officially updated on my TF
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16959871/Market-8009011.apk
Yeah factory reset will not restore anything deleted. It might wipe out certain data/settings that was conflicting with why it was FC.
Still no good. Constant FC.
This sucks.
Not sure if this will help. On some phone going into settings and choosing English (US) solved fc for market. Also I remember a member who had a rouge app causing the fc. Don't remember the exact app of hand
This is a tablet, not a phone. Also, I factory reset it, so no apps on it except the ones it shipped with.
Does anyone have access to the stock TF101 ROM?
To heck with stock. Installed Revolution. Good to go!
.

Were you able to resolve this? It seems I'm having the exact same issue. I even installed the above market with no luck.
Thanks in advanced.

I have used swype for a long time and have replaced it many times.
You have to make sure that you have removed ALL "references" of swype from your phone or it will not install. Including any backups you may have in Titanium Backup.
What I always do is delete my Titanium Backup backups. Then in Titanium Backup settings> more > Clean up the Dalvik Cache, I clean the Dalvik Cache. After that I reboot my phone. Then I install swype (I send myself a new email invite from the swype beta website) without any issues. It works EVERY TIME.
I think stock Swype needs a library in /system/lib, something like libSwypeCore.3.25.91.32328.so (maybe wrong with the version). See if you have it or what the version is.
I only pushed the swype.apk into the system apps, nothing else. How do I get the library?

Stock rom has that lib I believe for stock swype u also need swype tips apk or something like that
-sent from my POS i897
no camera, no power button but at least I got miui lol
Erik and Antonx are both right. From stock KJ6 debloated by raver, you need to pull from /system/lib libSwypeCore.3.25.91.32328.so and push it to the same directory on yur phone. Then pull swype.apk and SwypeTip-release.apk in /system/app and push them tothe same directory. Do not try to install them by selecting them or whatnot as it will fail.
