swype beta?

i would like to install the latest version of swype using my swype beta account. i installed the swype installer and removed (and backed up just incase) these:
/system/app/Swype.apk
/system/app/Swype.odex
/system/lib/libSwypeCore.so
/data/data/com.swype.android.inputmethod
but the installer still thinks theres a version of swype installed so it still fails. what else could there be?

I used to have that problem, try rebooting and make sure the com.swipe is also removed.

I had in stall swipe & got the same issue that it failed & need to be reinstalled. I removed it & didn't reinstall the app. I notice there were the keyboard selection under setting, locale & text. In the input selection i was able to select swipe & it worked for me. Dont know if this will help those that are using swipe.

well, if you backed up the files rather than deleting them, then just place them where they where.

well theres only a folder and three files, two files if your on a deodexed rom.

I remember 5 files, but I have no idea where they go!
I assume if I just reinstall a full version of whichever room I choose that I'll have swype official again? Or if I flash back to stock?

i used System app remover, backed up the original the app does it if you want too, then i just installed Swype 3.0

Followed this to install 3.25 beta on Mikey's S7 ROM... worked like charm.

Swype in CM7?

I tried going to swypes website and entering the beta and download swype through the swype downloader app but when i go to enable it it just keeps FC'ing. I also tried pushing swype.apk to /system/app but also get constant FC's. Anyone know how to get swype working on CM7? Thanks.

You have to freeze the original swype that came with the phone by using titanium backup. once you do that then you can install the swype beta

I did that and I even tried rm'ing the original stock swype but keeps FC'ing. Tried a fix permissions and wiped caches still no good.

I had this same thing happening just a couple of days ago. Once I got beta 3 installed.. it just kept FCing. I had to remove it, do the wipes of cache, reinstall... it then stopped. I uninstalled it via titanimumbackup

keep the installer on there.. but remove the beta via titanium backup.. I froze, then hit delete.. remove it. Rebooted into cwm, did the wipes. Then went into the installer app.. and reloaded it.

First of all I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to dsexton702 and team Acid for this wonderful rom. Everything about this rom is amazingly fast. Thank you guys. Anyway my question is "is there any way I can change to a stock phone dialer on this rom?"

Yes, just grab the DialerTabActivity.apk in system apps from another rom and over right it using root explorer or whatever you use... i had no problem with it when i did this (just know to do this at your own risk) i used the dialer from audiophile and put it on gs4g. just in case make sure you back up your rom before you do this.

I think there's also a dialer mod somewhere in the bible. I think it was the Xtreme Dialer.

I did that and started getting Force Closes every time I tried to make or answer a call, even after rebooting. Ended up having to restore my backup rom. Not sure why, but next time, I think I'll try to push the apps into the zip file before flashing the ROM.
and when I restored my old KD ROM, it left the bali3.3 kernel and red CWM, which is nice.

This rom does not have installed email.apk as that of the KF2, since I can obtain it?

You could also try fixing permissions in cwm...that's what I had to do after installing a new market

Dialer..could not launch the requested activity.

Can anyone help me?? I am on ICBINB kh2..i tried installing a blue dialer found under themes/apps section..ExTreme Dialer [MODS]...i replaced the dialertabactivity.apk on /system/app using root explorer..when i try to install phone.it says do you want to replace..i say yes but then it says it can not be installed.and then when i click on phone in my dock (im using launcher pro) it says could not launch the requested activity.can i guide it to the correct shortcut to get the blue dialer i just installed???..what can i do to get the blue dialer..and if I cant do that..does anyone have a link to the stock dialer so that I can fix the issue..Thank You.

Try deleting the original file in /system/app first, then moving over the themed one.

nevermind..i extracted the original dialertabactivity.apk from ICBINB into system/app and it fixed my dialer..but does anyone have any idea how to install the blue one from Extreme mods..or have a link to a working one? thx.

I just tried that..it didnt work..then i extracted the original ICBINB dialertabactivity.apk and now its back to the same message could not launch the requested activity...what should i do..i really dont want to have to reinstall the rom again.

Replace it and make sure permissions are set as rw/r/r

I believe it's only for Froyo. GDofWR420 also said the same. I've tried that initially, but that screwed up my whole calling. I couldn't receive calls after that, but I was able to call out.
Then again, I could narrow that down to either (1) my Froyo data restore or (2) replacing the dialer.
Let me know how that works for you.

I did that still could not requested the launched activity..i must be pointing it to the wrong short cut or something..this is really wierd it should work..any other ideas.

ok i did rw/r/r..on the original dialertabactivity.apk for icbinbkh2 and it is still not working...says the same thing..

the main issue is.i dont even see phone in my applications..when i tried to replace that dialertabactivity.apk..that messed it up to where ic ant even get the originial icbinb dialertabactivity.apk to work and atleast get a stock dialer for now..any ideas devs?

You're right, it's Froyo KD1 only. From the post:

Froyo and GB mods aren't compatible. Even mods between different revisions of Froyo and GB aren't compatible. Find the original dialer file somewhere so you can get your dialer back. Extract it from ICBINB KH2 if you have to. Should be under /system/app in the zip file.

Unfortunately, that doesn't even help it. You have to reflash KH2 again. Make sure you don't do an advanced data restore either. That'll restore the messed up phone.apk and dialertabactivity.apk. Use Titanium. FBis251 and I have tested that out and it works perfectly fine for user apps.

It should be fine to do an advance restore if he didn't make a backup after he messed up the dialer. But I would first try to push a gb dialer then fix permissions.

Ah, right, I forgot about him possibly making a previous backup. As long as it's not a Froyo backup, it'll be fine.
However, pushing the GB dialer and fixing permissions won't fix the problem. I've practically tried all of the simple methods to fix it.

Unfortunately I did not make a backup...using titanium backup....is reflashing the only way...I tried the Paul Diddy dial,with replace and fix permissions still did not work and thats for gingerbread...the stock gingrrbread dialer fromkh2 also did not work

I had the same issue yesterday and spent all last night trying the same thing you did. I had to odin back to T959VUVKG4 and started over. Do not install [THEME] [CWM] KG6, KH1, KH2 FEELING BLUE - Overscroll Glow-CRT on-off. UPDATED 8/17 on GB it will mess up the dialer.

Sorry to hear that man. Your best bet is just to reflash and restore backups with Titanium instead. Start with a KC1 clean slate, just to be safe. Then flash ICBINB KH2 again from there.

No Swype with Valhalla rom

I searched before asking this question without any luck. I have downloaded the valhalla ROM on my Galaxy s 4g and noticed i no longer have swype and can't use multiscreen live wallpaper. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

If you want Swype you have 2 options. You can either download Swype Beta (from Swype website) or you could take Swype from the Octane ROM.
I personally use the stock Swype from Octane. To get it you need to download Octane.
1) From Octane ROM, copy /system/lib/libSwypeCore.3.25.91.32328.so
2) Copy it to your /system/lib in Valhalla
3) From Octane ROM, copy /system/app/Swype.apk
4) Copy it to /system/app in Valhalla
Do 3&4 for SwypeTip-release.apk

here's the Stock Swype from 236
unrar, place the files on your mSD, then push the 2 apk's to your system>apps folder, and push the .so file to your system>lib folder and reboot = viola

That's been my take on it as well... and the DNS speech to text generally works better as well than the stock Google one in older versions of Swype.

thanks for this thread I was sad when I lost swype. but now i have it again.

You know, at first I tried stock swype from a previous ROM, didn't work, however I can see that I forgot to copy the .so file. I couldn't use swype as I got a force close every time I tried to activate it or use it.
Anyway, I deleted the apk from apps and proceeded to download swype from website. I did, and installed correctly, however, after that, I just got fc like I had with the above method. so.. what's the deal? Maybe it has something to do with permissions?
edit: it was indeed a "fix permission" that was needed. Everything is working OK now.
