I have flashed Darky's 7.7 for the captivate (awsome rom), and I would like the original phone app back. The rom has the phone app with the video call buttons and I would like to have it without.
I realize this is because it is based on a I-9000 rom, but any help would be appreciated.

What u do is download another rom where u like the phone app. Then put that file on ur sd card.
Next get rootexplorer and change the top to r/w.
Finnally find the phone file that u just put on ur sd card and copy/move it to /system/app. It will ask to overwrite, just say yes.

Thanks, do I just use Phone.apk or Phone_Util.apk and PhoneErrService.apk.
Thanks again.

Yup, cant get that to work, just a couple things force close and the same dialer remains. I will try again tomorrow. Thanks for your help.
The only thing I can think of is try new phone.apk, phone utilities.apk and phone error(something).apk

I think I might have to make a update.zip and install with clockwork recovery.
Pretty sure you're also going to need DialerTabActivity.apk for this to work properly.
Use caution though, I got my phone stuck in a bootloop trying to do this exact same thing and ended up having to re-flash the ROM.
I'll try that tonight when I get home from work.
The keypad is in DialerTabActivity.apk. You'll want to follow the same steps above to copy that over the current DialerTabActivity.apk in /system/app/. The Phone.apk controls the screen that comes up when someone calls in or when you're in a call.
Hope noone minds unburying the thread. Is phone replacement a way to fix the problem with the phone app losing phone call even when I press home button?
I am not sure if this is the rooting of my nomu s10 that did that, but otherwise, the apps are working fine.
Thanks.

Try deleting the original file in /system/app first, then moving over the themed one.
nevermind..i extracted the original dialertabactivity.apk from ICBINB into system/app and it fixed my dialer..but does anyone have any idea how to install the blue one from Extreme mods..or have a link to a working one? thx.

I believe it's only for Froyo. GDofWR420 also said the same. I've tried that initially, but that screwed up my whole calling. I couldn't receive calls after that, but I was able to call out.
Then again, I could narrow that down to either (1) my Froyo data restore or (2) replacing the dialer.
Let me know how that works for you.
I did that still could not requested the launched activity..i must be pointing it to the wrong short cut or something..this is really wierd it should work..any other ideas.
ok i did rw/r/r..on the original dialertabactivity.apk for icbinbkh2 and it is still not working...says the same thing..
the main issue is.i dont even see phone in my applications..when i tried to replace that dialertabactivity.apk..that messed it up to where ic ant even get the originial icbinb dialertabactivity.apk to work and atleast get a stock dialer for now..any ideas devs?

Froyo and GB mods aren't compatible. Even mods between different revisions of Froyo and GB aren't compatible. Find the original dialer file somewhere so you can get your dialer back. Extract it from ICBINB KH2 if you have to. Should be under /system/app in the zip file.

Unfortunately, that doesn't even help it. You have to reflash KH2 again. Make sure you don't do an advanced data restore either. That'll restore the messed up phone.apk and dialertabactivity.apk. Use Titanium. FBis251 and I have tested that out and it works perfectly fine for user apps.

It should be fine to do an advance restore if he didn't make a backup after he messed up the dialer. But I would first try to push a gb dialer then fix permissions.

Ah, right, I forgot about him possibly making a previous backup. As long as it's not a Froyo backup, it'll be fine.
However, pushing the GB dialer and fixing permissions won't fix the problem. I've practically tried all of the simple methods to fix it.
Unfortunately I did not make a backup...using titanium backup....is reflashing the only way...I tried the Paul Diddy dial, with replace and fix permissions still did not work and thats for gingerbread...the stock gingrrbread dialer fromkh2 also did not work
I had the same issue yesterday and spent all last night trying the same thing you did. I had to odin back to T959VUVKG4 and started over. Do not install [THEME] [CWM] KG6, KH1, KH2 FEELING BLUE - Overscroll Glow-CRT on-off. UPDATED 8/17 on GB it will mess up the dialer.

Sorry to hear that man. Your best bet is just to reflash and restore backups with Titanium instead. Start with a KC1 clean slate, just to be safe. Then flash ICBINB KH2 again from there.
Once flashed, is this rom compatible with Infusion Core A kernel? UCKL2 modem? I really like the look of the Rom.

It will flash...but don't expect video (and whatever else it breaks) to work...
It is based off of the latest AT&T leak so it has to have the stock kernel for everything to work.
Yes any Infuse modem will work.
Fonts
Are there any fonts or themes for this rom? I was under the impression it was based on MIUI, and could therefore be customized. the only MIUI element I see is the lockscreen manager. Am i missing something?
Its a work in progress, give it time, Nop seems to have a lot in store for his new Rom!

After flashing, Superuser is disappeared from App drawer and become "unrooted" but superuser is already installed as reported by Market.
Uninstall and reinstalling, no problem but still now shown in App Drawer and reported "unrooted" whenever useing apps which need root access..
Tried re-root with SOC, stuck with the messeage "waiting for device" and would not be continued..
Any idea ??

Odin/heimdall flash a custom kernel. then download the su updater for cwm I think the link is in the open of caty rom or something. reflash the rom (sometimes su gets corrupt and causes all sorts of issues, best to format /system and reinstall the rom for good measure) and flash the su updater immediately after. make sure you do this before a reboot and that voodoo is disabled on your phone. there should be a folder on the root of the SD card named "Voodoo" the V is capital and in that rider should be a text file or folder named "disable-lagfix" if this is not there before you flash the voodoo/cwm enabled kernel and lagfix gets enabled you must disable it and reboot before you flash the rom.
this leak is really secure, you need the custom "insecure" kernel to root it and there seems to be an issue with the build of bionix causing people problems. read the thread but don't get too confused on all the different advice.
also if you can use heimdall I posted a heimdall flashable dump from my phone in the bionic thread. it already has updated superuser and su.

no Voodoo exists but the disable-lagfix file/folder doesn't. it is usually a file but if you create it as a folder it works.
if you have no Voodoo folder you should create it as well as the disable-lagfix to speed up the process and avoid issues. or you can install bionix from my heimdall package. your choice.
I cant tell fron the screenshots....does this rom have the lockscreen that allows you to choose unlock, phone, sms, or camera?

I may need some help from someone. Here's the issue I have been experiencing with the rom. After awhile of just normal usage, performance begins to deteriorate. The symptoms can easily be described as lag. After a reboot, I return to square 1 with speed and response. Has this been happening to anyone else?

I notice quite a bit of lag after trying the included adfree apk.
You can try uninstalling adfree from tibu
If that doesn't work, you may have to try to figure out how to fix permission, wipe dalvik and wipe cache.

Hows battery life on new version?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
I just installed this rom ontop of the old V2 bionix iv been running for months, figured it was about time I upgraded lol. Iv been playing with it a bit, and am getting used to the new layout. Maybe this is intentional but where did the battery info and pulldown task bar ontop go? Also some things seem to be not fitted to the screen correctly, like my contacts list and the lock screen is cutoff 3/4 way thru the clock on bottom. Ill keep playing with the settings when I wakeup I just wanted to check I didnt miss something or install it wrong, like a lingering file between the 2 versions caused an incompatibility. Other then that its pretty sexy sofar
I posted this in the general section, but no one has answered it. Please release the platypus egg kernel as a .zip file or post a link to where I can download the kg2 odin file so that I can flash the bali port. I want voodoo and refuse to flash an entire rom just to get voodoo.
check the heimdall thread i have it posted there last 2 pages
heimdall isnt working on my computer unless you posted an odin file in that thread its not going to help me.
Unless you are in love with the Samsung launcher vs. GOv2's Launcher Pro (or my preferance: download ADW.Launcher), there is no reason not to upgrade to GOv2 and get all the other tweaks in addition to the Kernal.
I know you say you've had trouble in the past, but just try it like this:
1) Boot in to CWM with the GOv2 zip on the sdcard.
2) Check your mounts
3) Run a backup
4) Check your mounts
5) Wipe data, wipe cash, wipe dalvik-cache
6) Check your mounts
7) Flash GOv2
8) Check your mounts
9) Advanced-Restore data partition only
10) Check your mounts
11) Reboot
Best case, everything works great and you just upgraded the Kernal as well as many other good things / tweaks, while still keeping all your apps and all your config.
Worst case, just boot in to CWM and restore what you currently have. You only waste about 15min of your life in trying, and I don't see how GOv2 could have any drawbacks over stock+bali (other then the alternate Launcher and themed icons/widgets - I installed AWD, unthemed all my icons, and I love the transparent-black widgets).
You should NEVER need to Odin unless you can't get in to CWM (which should never happen).
NOTE: When I say check your mounts, each partition on that CWM page should read "unmount" (meaning they are currently mounted). Check your mounts before/after each step, including before the final reboot.
I know how to check mounts. I want to keep touchwiz because of the themes. I really like the stock themes, and none of the launchers from the market have the option to view the app drawer as a list. if they did, i would consider using one of them. the stock themes are not really what is important. viewing the app drawer as a list is. my process thus far has been as follows: odin to kd1, kies to kj2, root, backup, flash rom, then restore system only from the backup. it hasnt been stable enough so far, but right now i am considering trying it a little different. i am going to get back to stock kj2, then delete all bloatware and all google apps from the system, then backup, then flash, then restore system from the backup, then reinstall any apps i want from the market. I also have the .apk file for play store, so i am also going to delete market and market updater before backing up. then after restoring system, i am just going to install google play store from my sd card. if anyone has any thoughts, please respond soon. i already odined back to kd1, getting ready to do kies to kj2. that takes a few minutes as i have to unplug the phone from the pc and reinstall the drivers through kies.
But I would prefer to just flash the kernel. I dont see any reason why they wouldnt release it.
well, after a very lengthy and complicated process, i finally have the platypus kernel on kj2. here is what i did. i started kies mini but didnt plug my phone in yet. i just went to menu and install driver. then i odined. after reboot, unplug the phone, back to kies, install drivers again. plug phone in and update firmware through kies. after reboot, unplug and install driver again. turn on usb debugging and root through super one click. reboot. install drivers again. then go through the system and delete all google and tmobile apps. get cwm running and take a backup. connect mass storage and copy b2tb to sd card. flash according to instructions. reboot. let the phone sit while i walk my dog. come back, boot into recovery, select advanced restore, system only. fix permissions, wipe dalvik, reboot. reinstall desired apps through market website. that was all last night. today i supercharged. so far so good.
well, its been almost 24 hours since i finished everything up. stable so far. no random reboots, no force closes, no screen lag or freeze, no crashes. i kept my backup from before the flash, just in case. gonna give it another day or two to make sure everything really is stable, then take a backup of the current setup. once i do that, im leaving this phone the hell alone lol.
To clear the record, I never had trouble flashing roms except for once and it was because i flashed cwm through rom manager before i knew not to do that. my most recent trouble started when i attempted to move dalvik to my ext2 partition. something went wrong when i attempted to move dalvik, and it got deleted. i had a backup and tried to restore, but got an md5sum mismatch. i did a factory reset through voodoo and it screwed up my apn settings. i restored default settings, but it didnt work. so basically after much trial and error, i have a stable advice again.

i don't have a flashable zip unfortunately, but what i've been doing is flashing the zimage thru Odin. if that helps you at all, if you're comfortable with Odin, i've been meaning to upload the tar file for the kernel that i made to this thread:

I have used swype for a long time and have replaced it many times.
You have to make sure that you have removed ALL "references" of swype from your phone or it will not install. Including any backups you may have in Titanium Backup.
What I always do is delete my Titanium Backup backups. Then in Titanium Backup settings> more > Clean up the Dalvik Cache, I clean the Dalvik Cache. After that I reboot my phone. Then I install swype (I send myself a new email invite from the swype beta website) without any issues. It works EVERY TIME.
I think stock Swype needs a library in /system/lib, something like libSwypeCore.3.25.91.32328.so (maybe wrong with the version). See if you have it or what the version is.
I only pushed the swype.apk into the system apps, nothing else. How do I get the library?

Stock rom has that lib I believe for stock swype u also need swype tips apk or something like that

Erik and Antonx are both right. From stock KJ6 debloated by raver, you need to pull from /system/lib libSwypeCore.3.25.91.32328.so and push it to the same directory on yur phone. Then pull swype.apk and SwypeTip-release.apk in /system/app and push them tothe same directory. Do not try to install them by selecting them or whatnot as it will fail.
