okay I broke my market app. I have been trying to get it to work again. Basically I broke it trying to get a previous version of market back on it so I can put a theme on it.
So I get an error, The application market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Market will load. You can search. But if you click on anything it closes.
Here i what I have done.
Restored a back up from titanium.
used the app doctor.
unistalling and reinstalling the market.
Any one have any suggestions??
Wipe all cache in recovery and mount system
Find the update zip of your rom or the vending.apk you plan on pushing and use adb to push it to /system/app
This is the only way I know how to fix it, it helps alot when you try to modify certain apps because the cache effs everything up sometimes

Word. Haven't tried that yet. Give it a shot later. I know I can flash but even with backups I'm not looking forward to a flash.

Hey thanks a bunch!! it worked like a charm. and really, you do have to wipe that cache. That was what was buggering me up every time. Not only do I have my market working again, but I have my themed market back. WOOT!

When I try to download apps it says it was unsuccessful. Regardless of whether it is wi-fi or 3g. First time I've had this problem. Any suggestions?

Try clearing your cache and deleting the .android_secure folder on your sdcard. Might also use a file manager like EStrong's to go into your download folder and delete any download-file.apk files and then reboot, that usually works for me.
Thanks for the info. I tried it but it's still not working. Any other ideas?

Is it possible you deleted the Google Talk app, without downloads never complete.
No, its still there. I already pursued that avenue. I'm totally stumped this one.

Ok....for some reason unknown to me, it started working again.

It's the Market's cache. A lot of Android users had this problem. Clear the Market's cache, reboot and you're all fine.
It's been about 5 days now that i can't download anything from the market, all of them hang on downloading and after a while says "download unsucessfull"
i've tried canceling and restarting the download, clearing the cache and data for the market, restarting the phone. Nothing helped.
i'm with cyanogen mod 6.1 and Nexus One
You could download apps without issues before? Well, make sure the memory of your tablet pc is enough for the downloaded apps. Actually I think you should always download and install apps on the memory card instead of the tablet itself.
Does it actually download a certain amount or does it not even get round to downloading? Have you got enough memory free for the apps you're trying to download?
Doesn't even start. I've got plenty of space
Try wiping dalvik cache and fixing app permissions.
what's that?
reboot into recovery mode

Also go into Settings-->Applications-->Market, and clear data and/or cache. Might clear things up for ya.

can you update that as well?
how if yes
Honestly, if you are on a Nexus one, switch over to CM7. They have a stable that was released in May and it works very well.
I have a Nexus One and love the new CM7.
Yes it would be nice to do that, the only thing that stops me is that he recommends to NOT use titanium backup after, cause it my mess it up.
So i'll have to spend half day with the phone :>
That's why i was looking for at least temporal fix of the market
The CM7 rom that I use (GSB3.5 on a Droid Eris) also recommends not using Titanium Backup, so I use MyBackup Root. I've switched back and forth from numerous other Sense, CM7, and AOSP roms and have never had a problem restoring apps and data. So if that's your only issue switching over to CM7, you might try that. Of course, you wanna do a NAND backup first so you can always have a backup.
As for your Market problem, I've had the same thing happen, and most of the time I just keep trying to download an app until it works. Though that's tedious and doesn't fix the issue. If clearing Market data doesn't work, then rebooting into your recovery and fixing permissions and clearing the Davlik cache has typically worked for me.
Good luck, and let us know what works.
flash it again or try to insert a gmail first and market will be in menu then

Try going into Settings/Applications/Manage Apps, then Clear all the apps Data and Cache that have anything to do with Google!
Especially look for Market, Download, Checkin Services, and whatever else, then Reboot... If that Still Doesnt work Reflash the Rom or Restore a Nandroid Backup!
Good Luck!

where do you do that? I only found "fix apk uid mismatches"
nothing about davlik cache
for some reason the last 3 apps i've installed all FC on me. at least 2 were from the market. prior to this i've installed a ton of apps from the market and TB.
open maps, movies, yelp.
i managed to install yelp after i uninstalled movies. not sure why that mattered. i actually got the FC message but then it went away. movies still didn't install correctly. i've completely removed open maps.
i've heard fixing permissions in cwr can work but i've screwed up my phone on a prior rom doing that so i'm really weary of using it. also, why would i need to fix permissions if it's a new install?
Update: fixing permissions did nothing. Does clearing dalvik do anything?

Clear cache and dalvik and try again. If you still have problems, then reflash your ROM on top of your existing ROM without wiping anything. If you still have problems after doing this, then backup your apps/app data with Titanium and then do a full wipe (system, data, cache; everything). Then reinstall your ROM, then install Titanium and restore your apps (do not restore system settings; only restore apps and app data).
Sorry didn't finish reading it but do what Henry said

That works too.
I just flashed drhonks kd1 (had a lot of problems with flashing other roms for some reason) and i restored all of my apps through titanium but they arent showing up in the market. Any way to fix this?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
you should restore through cwm. but try to uninstall all updates/clear market cache and then reboot the phone into recovery, clear dalvik and fix permissions and then check the market again
I had the same thing happen to me. I had the apps installed but they would not show up when I accessed my apps in the market.
Rebooting the phone fixed this for me. I now have the apps show in the my apps setion of the market without doing anything other than a reboot after the apps were all installed.

some of the sulotions I tried:
clearing data and cache for download manager, market, google apps etc..
uninstalling a bunch of apps and wiping dalvik cache
factory reset, which worked but after a couple of days the problem came back.
I'm runnig MIUI 2.2.3 (android 2.3.7) on my htc desire hd

I don't believe that's the problem because I just found out that I can't download files through the miui browser as well, but I can download with firefox for android. Based on that I believe that it has something to do with the download manager maybe, but as I mentioned before I already tried clearing its data.. any thoughts?
I have this problem on my CM9 Photon....
this is happening on my phone. it's stuck on the notification thing even tho it's been installed.
If you have the dalvik to cache the cache apps won't download

Perhaps you have some internet settings changed through apps e.g. droidwall, lbe privacy guard, tethering apps? When I have problems with market downloads, I have to reboot phone then clear data/cache for download manager and market.
Try using mobile data instead of wifi, or vice versa.
