[Q] Accessing Android Market after installing ARHD3.6.5 - HTC Sensation

Hi guys
first time posting but have been lurking for a couple of years now since getting my Hero 2 years ago (always found the answers to any questions hence not had the need to post and be a pain ). Anyhow got a nice shiny new Sensation yesterday and have put the above mentioned ROM onto it without any issues.
However since updating to this nice ROM I've lost the ability to download apps from the market place through the web as opposed to on the phone (which works fine). I tend to find this way a hell of a lot easier than doing it through the phone.
Anyhow I've reinstalled the ROM after finding a post similar to this but to no avail. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on what I've missed or done wrong.
Many thanks for you help
ps I would have posted at the end on the ARHD3.6.5 thread in the developers section rather than start a new thread, but i don't have the necessary credentials to do that yet.

[Q] Fresh 3.4.0.1

Hey guys, thanks for all the advice. I've been doing a lot of reading through these forums and was able flash the "fresh" rom onto my evo. it worked flawlessly as well as the radio. its a great looking os. I do however have a question that may be off the subject a bit. Security wise, I've used my phone in the past for my banking and I was wondering how secure these custom rom's are. I mean what's to keep the developers from creating a back door to get into people's information to steal it. Again, I'm pretty new at all this... I have not found anyone talking about this subject in these forums unless I missed something. If you know anything about how that topic please help. much appreciated. thanks guys...you all rock!

[Q] Can Someone Confirm My Phones Back To Stock To Be Returned

I am asking all please don't attack me for posting this as I am but I am desperate....
Hi, I wanted to ask after installing the Stock UVKD1 – Flashable T959VuVKD1zip file will T-Mobile be able to tell I was rooted at one time? What happened is.. I was rooted and after flashing this I wasn't. Not accusing anyone, actually glad because it gave me a reason to return the phone. This purchase wasn't planned but because I own the Vibrant 3g (1st one phone) and love it, love the themes, everything about it. So at T-Mobile store saw 4g and bought it. Nothing like the Vibrant.
The ones that have contributed to this site have been amazing!!! It's too bad that there are so many with just gripes and complaints. Over at the Vibrant sites everyone works together and it's fun. Not a developer, have had many soft bricks but have fun with my phone and enjoy learning.
This is long because I have seen so many attack others and hope people won't waste their time on me because I am returning the phone and haven't posted anything before this anticipating someone would jump on me about where I posted or the answer is elsewhere "go to that forum".
The fact is that everything I have looked at and I have looked everywhere people are having problems and everyone's is a little different than mine so I just want to know if with this rom on my phone can I return it to T-Mobile, to day is the 19th day and I only have 20.
Thanks in advance for any answer someone can provide me with.
im not sure but I don't think you can get D1 over the air right now. however, that doesn't mean you rooted the phone, just that you flashed it. I suspect they might feel the same way about that though. If I was you I would flash from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978836 and then remove root as explained in that forum.
Please feel free to thank this post if this helped.
wrong section .. should have asked in general but download root checker if it says no root then you are fine

I don't think you read my post completely. I know I am not rooted. I do have some knowledge about what to do or I wouldn't be messing with a phone, this was going to be my main phone and I kept my Vibrant to play with and learn.
I was only asking about the rom because I didn't know what rom was on the phone when purchased.

Well since this KD1 Rom is a t-mobile update, I don't think you'll have any issues returning it. I would unroot the phone though (if is rooted). I'm not an expert; I'm like on the same boat as you are which is learning all this great stuff, but would t-mobile be able to tell if you were rooted once? not really sure.

Thanks for the help. I removed all signs of root so after I swap out the 32 card for the 16 finish getting that straight I should be in good shape.
You might know this, where was the movie on the phone? I zipped it and got off right away so I don't even remember. If you know that would be great.

#1 wrong section, please read before posting in a section that is defined for development only, not general questions.
#2 TMobile retails stores won't even care, probably won't even check.
#3 If they did check, as long as you are on build T959VUVKB5 or KD1 your fine.

What problems were you having with it anyhow?
It sounds like you must have been trying to make modifications to it that are either untested or not designed to work properly with the SGS4G.
I know alot of people call it the Vibrant 4G but it's not the same, there are alot of differences with it, so it's easy for someone with less experience to mess it up. Not saying you don't have experience, but it sounds like you breeze through phones quicker than the flick of a light switch.

I thought you might have helped being that it was your thread i got the rom from and I asked the question there, sent you a pm but this is the last day to return (typing while files are moving from one sd to the other). Wrong again, you seemed to be one of the ones actually developing something for this phone and not wasting time to criticize people. Glad to be returning the phone and returning to the Vibrant forum.
People should do what I'm about to before buying a phone they want to mess with and that is check out these forums what's going with the development and if there are an overwhelming amount of negativity. And I know that's what some of you did, just thought I'd save someone the time of posting it.
Once again I am learning as I'm sure some others out there are too.

I have 2 phones the one I am exchanging (returning) the Sam T959V Galaxy S 4 and the Sam T959 Vibrant. That's at least how it's printed on the boxes.
I have not done anything from the Vibrant forum on the Galaxy S 4g phone. I flashed the rom from the thread you posted and went from root to no root. All SU apps wouldn't even open because what was needed wasn't in the needed directory(s).
All's good. Thanks.

It honestly doesn't have much to do with negativity.
More so with forum etiquette. I'm not trying to be rude to you, I merely telling you, no matter how much you post "Don't flame me" "don't be negative"...
If you post in the wrong forum anywhere on XDA, you're gonna get a negative response. That's a given not specific to this section.
I didn't see your post over there, until just now. Again cross posting is a no no, I understand you needed and answer. The best place for that would have been the general forum. not the development forum. It clearly says General Q&A section.
You can return the phone, I love my SGS4G and it works great. It seems like your mixing the two issues. Other than a few people on here, the majority get along just fine with no issues.

So if you have gone through 103 phones in one year, than either you're extremely picky, or you just like new phones.
Either way I don't fault you, but don't bag on this forum because you don't know the right section to post in, and you haven't even posted for help regarding the "issues" with your SGS4G.

Didn't have a problem with the cards and don't have a problem with the phone either so I didn't go over to the threads you posted. I have the sd card that came with the phone and the 32 as well as a 16 for the T959. Use my computer a lot to transfer files and have multiple directories to keep it all separate. No problem there.
If I hadn't bought it after the T959 I am sure I would be keeping it as you are. The amount of development here on XDA is great and I didn't realize that the 2nd memory card (the internal on the T959) that is used like a 2nd sd card but at the same time like the internal memory on all the other phones was removed on the SGS4G. Became spoiled with that as well as the builds on the T959 for themes, mods, roms, etc. Don't mean to insult anyone so please don't take it that way.
You've answered all my questions, thank you and I will contact the correct person letting them know question answered, posted in wrong forum (and multiple times, won't forget that) so this thread can be removed or however they handle the errors (or maybe I'm the first).

Yeah I hear you. I came from a G1 so it was an upgrade. Not much of an upgrade for a vibrant user.
The threads I posted were actually quotes from posts that you had posted on other forums indicating you had issues, but not in the SGS4G forums, in the vibrant forums.
Glad you have no issues with it. No harm done, just to avoid this always check which forum your posting in and try to avoid cross posting.

T-Mobile customer service and I called the store, but I have been so side tracked I didn't even there. Tomorrow is my 20th day technically and just noticed I had a lock screen on it the phone I need to get off so maybe I'll just keep this too and try and make some changes to it to make it fun.
Customer service has been wrong before, but I have always worked things out with them. Been with them since 2000 and am down to 5 lines from 7 and a data line so they have been pretty good but then again I guess policy is policy. Then again I do know that customer service (return by mail) was up to 30 days and the store was way shorter. I am surprised it was 20.

CWM hangs in operations

A friend rooted his phone using the update.zip method and wanted to flash CM7. He tried several times and told me that it would just sit there. 15 minutes later, still nothing. So I told him to swing by and I would have a go. I tried flashing CM7 in CWM and same result. I thought maybe he had a faulty recovery so I tried reflashing in ROM Manager. I noticed two different options for the Captivate; Galaxy S Captivate and Captivate (MTD). I read the instructions on the CM7 thread here and it said to use MTD. He originally used the other one. So I tried to flash the MTD and it gave me an error. Something like this: "Rom manager has been set up to use your existing recovery installation." Nothing happens after that. I try to flash in recovery again and nothing. Then he informs me that he hasn't done a full wipe yet. So I back up his apps, boot into CWM recovery and perform a wipe. The wipe hangs...same as flashing.
So back to stock with Heimdall I go so I can start from scratch and know that anything that is wrong is not due to something he did before and forgot about or anything like that. Clean slate, so to speak. That went well, no problems. Re-rooted, flashed CWM recovery for Captivate (MTD) rebooted into CWM recovery and all operations still hang. What am I missing here? If there is some piece of vital info I am not giving out here, just ask and I'll get right back and answer.
I appreciate any help I can get. And Just FYI, I do not currently have the device with me but I am relaying this thread to my friend who does so he can stop by and answer questions that I can't and try things out himself.
Thanks in advance.

Does it really matter whose phone it actually is? The problem still remains regardless. And yes it is a friend's phone. I'm not sure why you think I would lie about this on an anonymous forum. And if you look at my posts, they are pretty much all in the Thunderbolt and OG Droid forums. I'm simply trying to help a friend out and this thread was a bit of last resort. I guess I should have learned back when I had problems with my wife's phone and posted a help thread on XDA. I got no real help. Just a few people telling me that they never had a problem like mine. I re-posted the same thing in the android central forums and within 20 minutes got real responses and finally someone walked me through fixing the problem one-on-one through G-Talk. If these are the type of responses I get, I'll just repost this there and really get help.
I really do like this forum and a lot of great development happens here but if someone needs help and all members do is take shots at people, chastise them, or flood a thread with frivolous posts, maybe forum admins should consider ridding the site of general help sub-forums.
I am glad you found your issue which could have been solved by reading threads. Oh and XDA doesn't have a general help section. We have General for device news and info. Q&A for questions, Android devoloment for devlopment, accessories for cool phone gear and themes and apps for themes and apps. XDA is not about spoon feeding info to new members. We expect you to put in a good effort to find the info you need. While I understand it can be ruff with all the info around.

[Q] I'm attempting to root my i535 on a Mac

Firstly, my name is Animal and though I've used these forums as reference, this is my first time posting here and I'm still a semi-n00b to the whole rooting thing (though I did root my Charge for fun after getting tired of it). After some moderate (but not severely thorough) searching through the forums, I don't believe I have found a thread with the specific information that I'm looking for -- so I apologize if I'm repeating an already discussed topic. My phone recently did the OTA update to Jellybean, and as I've discovered many others experiencing, this update has left my phone bruised and broken. The battery life has diminished severely, my reception quality has decreased among a few other crappy things that someone needs to be ashamed of. So, I've decided to root my phone and skip straight to 4.2 and reep all those nice benefits. Except a) I'm trying to do so on a Mac, and b) having already updated to 4.1, a couple of the techniques I've found (through xda-developers threads) do not work with Jellybean. I like to believe I am fairly tech-savvy and am still having trouble with this.
So... what is a Mac using, Verizon JB-based GS3 owner to do to root?
Thank you all so much, and I anxiously await anyone who is sitting near to respond.
Before I switched to windows I was using parallels running Windows 7 with Odin and the root toolkit found in the Dev section. Once rooted you don't need he computer. Maybe root with a friends windows machine?

Run a virtual machine with windows? As far as i know, no one has posted a root method with mac for d2vzw with 4.1 already on it.
did it!
Well.. considering it looked like I didn't have much of a choice, I immediately got on downloading Parallels. After a few minor complications and hiccups (due mostly to my stupidity/fried brain) I am now confidently rooted and flashed to the ROM of my choice. Thank you guys for being so prompt to answer; though I wish there was a quicker solution at the time, I've made it through and appreciate your immediate responses. Without those, I would've probably still been looking for a while around running this on Windows. Look forward to seeing you in the threads!

[Q] Is there an updated unlock/root/S=off thread?

Hi..
I got lucky and received a new phone from TMO's insurance to replace the one I took for a swim in a hot tub. The only downside is having to start from scratch to root/unlock/etc everything.
Since I last did these things in May, 2012 (with SuperCID/S=off a few months ago), I had forgotten the steps and came here to XDA. I wasn't going to post this since I figured I would just try and look around for the threads I originally used, but when I went to the stickied root thread in the Development section, the first link (for fastboot files) was dead...
So... hoping to avoid a lot of time chasing down dead file links (and since there have been a lot of changes since that original thread such as the ability to get S=off), I thought I'd just ask if there are any recent purchasers of the HTC 1S or anyone who is in my situation, and if they knew of a better/updated thread with all of the steps from unlock through S=off....or even (if someone could be so kind) just give me a list the steps they followed and an approximate location as to where to find the necessary files.
Thanks a lot!
Paul
This is just pure laziness.. There's always Google which has helped me a lot when it came to dead links.
The hansoon toolkit link still works.
You can always Google for the android fast boot files which I did last week.
I just recently s-offed my device without running into any dead links...
In other words: keep looking.

I don't expect anyone to hold my hand—I only inquired if there was an updated thread.
Of course I realize that I could Google everything if there was any reason for that (like, for instance, if this phone was only released 2 weeks ago), but since people have been doing these things for quite awhile now, I wondered if someone had compiled an updated thread and further, I also had reasonable expectations that there might be one since so much as changed.
If not, I know that after chasing down dead links and spending 5x the time it would otherwise take if there had been a thread which had a clear, integrated/comprehensive list of steps for unlocking, rooting, recovery, flashing a custom Rom, getting SuperCID, and getting S=off, then I would certainly make one after I completed everything.
Why should anyone have to repeat all that mindless work of searching down multiple websites, forum threads, and posts if someone else has already done it? That's crazy. I guess you or others don't share in that attitude.
I did all steps a week ago...and again yesterday for a friends phone...every link on the supercid, s-off, unlock and root topics works as of yesterday.
just pure laziness
