[WAREZ] WARNING:: Dolphin is a warez!!! - Android Apps and Games

Hi, guys,
as the title says, I'm sure that dolphin browser is a warez. It collected everything you have clicked and every webpage you've viewed. I was shocked then, and today someone sent a strange email by my name to all of my friends.
Lets take a look with it.
TOPIC::
Hi, dear friend
---------------------------------—---------
Hi, dear friend
I ordered a lot of nice presents on a shopping website(web address deleted.) for my friends as Christmas gifts.
The Chrismas Day is coming, this website is holding many promotion activities, all their product will
have a big discount, besides, when you purchase products reached value $500, there will be a
further discount of $100 for free charge. It's really a good chance shopping now, don't miss it!

I'm a Taiwanese, I only view XDA for a English forum. However, xda don't have warez, and I only used dolphin browser before for about 2 months! And it collected all of my ID + passwords!
Everyone please stop using this ****ing bull****, or you might get this mail, too...

Always check permission requests before installing an app

That's not what warez means.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App

warez is software that has been distributed illegally for free when it a paid app.
dolphin is aware of the issue and have patched it in the latest version according to another thread on this forum. There is a way to block the info it sends if your phone is rooted by editing the hosts file manually and adding a specific address to it.
here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319529

To me its really strange how everyone complains about permissions applications require when installing on an android device, when they install just about anything that says "freeware" on they PC's. Android is just nice enough to let you know what the application accesses, kind of "I politely ask for access to these parts of your system" Where on your old nokia/windows mobile/samsumg/motorola etc which didnt have android, you would install anything anyway. I have read reports about Dolphin browser, so it caches server side, so does your google account which you use to access market. All your searches gets stored serverside, cookies track your browsing habits. If this is suck a concern, dont store your credit card number on your phone as a contact or in plain text. Dont browse dodgy porn sites. Dont watch too many movies where the CIA/MIB are watching your every more. Seriously, just use another browser if that is the problem

In the latest update of dolphin there is no more forwarding

Skyfire browser?

Sorry if this has been brought up before, search didn't come up with anything though. I just saw on a few news sites some posts on the Skyfire browser (http://www.skyfire.com/) going into beta. Almost sounds too good to be true, basically a greatly improved Opera Mini. I'm not a huge fan of giving unknown companies my phone number to sign up for a browser I've never heard of, so I was just wondering...has anyone heard anything about this?
Skyfire
I've heard about it but as I understand it's in a beta test that's only available in the States so I've not been able to try it out.
Yeah only available in the US. I have signed up for the beta but you can't download it yet. looks pretty cool.
Can someone plz upload it here once it's available for download.
that browser jus blew safari, opera mini, picsel and IE or anyother mobile browser away..its freakin sweet cant wait till i get it..lolz..and its FREE
herez the video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mWUoxiLZFc
OMG Finally
Out of all the App's that I have, that will be the MOST used. I have always been envious of the Safari browser in the iPhone. Now they will be envious of all of us 100% I can't wait to get my approval. Thanks for the post.
Kevin
Wow, that's pretty cool. Opera has been draggin their heels so long with Mobile 9.0, looks like they might get their thunder stolen again like they did with desktops.

C'mon on man... Thats a very bold comment to make without anyone actually touching it yet. Prime example: PoinUI... It looks sweet but is not as functional as it is beautiful. Just a thought

Why would you want to use Google Maps in the browser if Google has already released a pretty fully functional WM app anyway?
I signed up for the beta as well.. Hope at least someone gets in..

As a matter of fact I did see the video... and I still feel the same way: What good is a beautiful product that doesn't function? Kinda like the Titan right? it's got Rev A, But does it work? no. Your next comment will proli be "well what about 3.16?"... My rebuttal it's extremly buggy I know because I'm using it. But back on topic... My opinon... Dont get too excited about things that aren't available... again just my opinon.

Why is SKYFIRE still taking new sign up’s? If they can’t handle the volume they should take down the invite . I signed up on the first day and still don’t have it.

This is not safe to do is it ???

Hello xdadevelopers,
I've been having a heck of a time accessing the market to get U.S. apps that I'm otherwise entitled to owning. Being outside the country doesn't allow me to download these.
I then came across:
http://www.abtevrythng.com/2010/10/how-to-download-android-apps-which-are.html
As you can read from the instructions, it states that you must hand over your Google username and password.
Humm.... Isn't that exactly what one should not do????
I have not used AppBrain myself, but it is a huge and very popular portal.
I doubt it will misuse your google credentials and i probably would have heard of something like that happening.
But i can understand your worries and it is good to ask before just entering ones passwords and account into random sites.
Lets wait for another answer, maybe from someone using appbrain, as i don't plan on signing up there .
try VPN,pls.
I don't use appbrain myself, but I know people who do. Very good app, from what I've heard.

[APP][2.2+] The Pirate Bay Browser 6.7 - REMOVED FROM STORE - APK LINK AVAILABLE

Update 17/06: removed from Play Store, download link: MOD EDIT: Link removed.
I recently developed my first app, and I'd love to get some feedback. You can also use this thread for support if you want (also the email that I put on the market page works too).
As you can guess by the name, it's an app to browse and search The Pirate Bay. You can then open the page, or download the torrent directly to feed it to the client of your choice (Transdroid, uTorrent, etc.)
In particular, I really like the look of recent ICS applications so I've tried to get that look right, even on pre-ICS phones (should be compatible for 2.1 and up). I've used Actionbarsherlock 4.0 for that.

Why would this thread get locked?
It's a app that pretty much serves as a mobile version for a desktop website.
Torrents are NOT just warez.

What makes you so sure that everyone who wants this app is wanting to download that 80%?
Anyways i'll stop replying here, it usually turns into a flame war etc. sorry to OP for this "war" you can report my posts and have them removed if you want.
I just uploaded 1.2, it should be up any minute on the market.
Regarding warez stuff on TPB: as far as I'm concerned, I'm using The Pirate Bay to download content that I can't find via legal channels, because not licensed / not distributed in my country. It's up to each user to use TPB (and by extension my app) in a responsible way.
People who want warez would find it without my app - heck, they'd find it even without The Pirate Bay (there's no shortage of other sites for that).
Seriously top notch. This in conjunction with utorrent remote is kick ass. Is there a way after downloading the torrent file to have it auto launch your torrent app? In my case utorrent remote.

I need to check that up, it would be better indeed to just select the client without having to go through the download.
But it may depend on the way utorrent is coded (they need to register an intent I would think).
Nice job with this. At first I didn't think I would use this, but its really made things alot easier. Again nice job.

Excellent app
I am using it behind Orbot, as my ISP blocks The Pirate Bay.
Used in conjunction with µTorrent Remote, or tTorrent on the phone, this is a useful little app.
One suggestion though, I seen same from others too, but to see the actual file size would be cool, especially if downloading to a phone with limited space
I guess when one goes to the site one can see that and other info, but would be handy all the same, for it to be included in your app.
Look forward to seeing what other additions you might add too
Thank you.

Actually I don't think I'll ever implement that. That way you can download the actual content using the client of your choice, either a client that downloads on your device or a remote for your desktop computer/server.
What I do need to figure out however is why it always opens the browser, instead of the torrent client you have installed on your machine (doesn't work for me with Transdroid).
hmm, i'm just getting a "connection error" with this popping up. facebook, market etc works fine.

Be aware 'Scam' App : U need 2 read this ! It may cost u money if u don't!!!!

Hiya,
I'm bagofbits and new to these forum's and was not sure how to contact anyone at XDA so after some after advice from LUFC (forum moderator) here is my situation.
I have a wildfire s and been viewing those forums, during the last couple of days since the change over from android market to google playground or whatever it's called these days, I've been getting a popup app in my status bar saying please download 'battery supercharger' . I've been just clearing my status bar but it just kept coming back.
Today by mistake i downloaded it and got loads of texts within minutes and ended up with a charge of £4.99, I text 'STOP' to the number given. My network provider(3) can't help and I've mailed google help about it and they have logged it and are getting back to me.
Also a number of post's on the web about it...
Anyway enough rambling, I've searched the wildfire s forum and can't see any mention of it, just thought that it would be useful to post something about it so nobody else falls victim to this.
Give me a thanks if u could please.
Cheers
Oh might be an idea to check recent downloads you have made that contain ad's that may harbor this scam.

The ad you saw in your status bar used ad over the air function.
There are some apps which will detect apps using the add. Method. And will give you the ability to uninstall it.

Unfortunately this is true, you have not stopped the messages - just confirmed to the spammers that the number is live and real. 3 may be able to help you by blacklisting the numbers you are getting messages from - also have a look here if the messages persist.
This is a problem that is by no means limited to the Wildfire S - recently I recognised an app on my friend's Samsung Galaxy Ace as being malware - it was also generating notifications about some kind of battery optimizer. I managed to remove it before she accidentally signed up to anything.
Regarding the app, try some apps like Lookout Mobile Security and BitDefender . If you run a scan with these, they may find the offending app and help you to remove it. Good luck!
solution to battery supercharger text costs
saw the two text messages yesterday, spoke to Vodafone told them to block any charges today, up to which time charges hadn't gone through. So hopefully this will cost me nothing.
even if they had placed the charge, I would have asked Vodafone not to pay it, and kicked up a fuss until the agreed not to do so, or carry the cost themselves. Anybody with a mobile phone contract is in a very strong position at the moment I have noticed, getting lots of freebies off them.
thanx for ur advice
but i think it is not harmful

Is there an app that does?

I want to create a form that has fill able fields and a place to sigh by a customer. I would like it to be modifiable when necessary and able to attach pics . I also need to be able to email it and print it. Who makes a good app to do this?
I have done searches and found a few. but their web sites suck as to showing what it will do. they just describe it, no examples. they don't even give prices. I also do not want to keep the forms in the cloud and I don't want to pay a monthly subscription to use them.
Here's an example of one for the Apple. http://www.formconnections.com/

The only I seen that mimics what you are looking for is this. I used it for photography. I am sure you can alter the documents or release type and it also lets you arttach pics and will email a pdf to you and a client. I searched it up online and used a pirated copy and bought the app immediately after trying it.

Yeah. It's only if it's purchased from Sammy's store that the issues come in. Other devices won't know you own it and you can only get updates when Sammy gives them to you. Learned the hard way about app stores other than Google's.
