Tiamat Kernel Error - HTC Desire S

Why my phone always freeze after I OC'ed my phone to 2ghz using Tiamat kernel? How to fix it?
Thanks in advance
Sent from my Desire S

you shouldn't be OC at 2ghz, your asking for trouble

Its because I cant play 9mm smoothly. Then whats the maximum OC that will not freeze my phone?
Sent from my Desire S

Are you serious? I'm using stock Rom 2.3.5 with no root and s-on and its smooth for me... No lag what so ever
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App

Which ROM are you using?
Also try increasing the voltage of the kernel, as I believe Tiamat is under-volted (could be wrong). Doing this may stabilise the performance.

What Am I Doing Wrong? (Overclocking Question)

Well, on my Inspire I have flashed a custom rom that gives me up to a 1400 score on my Quadcore tests, yet I see other people hitting 2000-2500, what am I doing wrong? I'm using Core Droid v5.0 with a flashed radio that speeds up my download and upload speeds. Do you guys have any advice on how to speed up my Android?
And by the way, yes I do have set CPU and I have the settings on Max (1024000) and on Minimum (245761) I also have set on boot ticked along with profiles to save battery life. Any help is appreciated.
Sincerely,
RootTheNoob
Are you running a kernael that can be overclocked?
How can I tell of it can be overlooked, and I'm pretty sure I am its the default core Droid Rom, or do I have to install the kernel separately as well?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
The default CoreDroid kernel isn't overclocked. Also if you have an overlooked kernel, setcpu would let you push past 1ghz.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
I think you can use the leedroid kernel with coredroid can't you? If so, I'm using that one. It will overclock to 1.8. I only run at 1.2 though.
see post 957:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12123867&highlight=leedroid#post12123867
So what do I set it to to overclock it?
First you have to floash the kernel. The you use the slider in set cpu to overclock.
How do I flash it?
Sounds like you have some reading to do. Download the kernel to the root of your SD card. Then from ROM manager use CWM to flash rom from SD Card. DO A BACK UP FIRST THOUGH. Read the first few leedroid posts and that will help
No, I know how to flash things but what kernel do I use?
What kernel do I use with Core Droid?
http://leedroid.ftp.rshost.eu/DHD-Kernels/
it is the 2.2.9. Check his post here and it will tell you what you are getting
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991848
Try the Inversely ROM...sure its stock based but the kernel can be oc'd to 1.8.... at 1.5 I got over 2600 and at 1.8 I got a 3309 and could do better sub some tweaking...right now though kernel is not a separate flash package.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Um..should be Ingersoll ROM.
Autocorrect fail....
What also helps is be fully charged...do your quad right after fresh boot and stop/shutdown all background processes you can..that's when you get best score.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
Edit: hey he just posted his kernel ad a separate package...will make things interesting.
Guys, none of those kernels worked , I had to restore my Android to a previous backup.
Anything I can do?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Coredroid 5 is based off the the leaked GB rom no custom OC kernels are available. 1500 is about what I get with that rom also. If you want higher quadrant scores you need a froyo 2.2 based rom and kernel.

You'll prolly have to download a Rom with an oc kernel and wipe everything before you install it.
May not be what you want to do...but might be the only way to get what speeds you're wanting.
Otherwise...you'll have to wait till there's an oc kernel for the Rom your using.
yelp there isnt Oc of the core with gingerbread.. they do a 2.2 with oc. i havent done those yet cause i do like this gingerbread.. Im just going to keep with this V5.0 MIUI guys have the OC kernal for their gingerbread but they have more steps than i wanna deal with.

Does SetCpu overclocking work on both cores?

I use the SetCPU on the HTC Sensation 4G, it looks like it only scaling the cpu0. I am overclocking it to 1.5GHz but when I query the cpu frequency I don't see it on cpu1.
can somebody run the fallowing lines on adb shell to see if the scaling works for you?
Code:
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq
cpu0 gives 1512000 for me but cpu1 gives 1188000
ps cpu1 goes idle and this file becomes unavaliable, I run linpack run multi-thread just before I query the cpu1.

How did you even get the Setcpu to recognize the sensation's 1.2ghz? How did you detect the device?!

Custom kernel but setcpu definitely isn't working right with them either. Still not 100% compatible with our asynchronous cpu.

I have a custom kernel that supports 1.8ghz. but setcpu only allows 998 to be the maximum when i click nexus one/snapdragon. I don't know what other options i have.
If you have a custom kernel that supports it (most do i think) setcpu should have an option to autodetect. You shouldn't have to select a device. If autodetect isn't available try uninstalling setcpu and reinstalling it. None of the device selections will work for us because our device/chipset isn't supported for manual selection (yet).
If You're using a custom kernel then delete set cpu and use an OC Daemon like the Virtuous Daemon with Unity Kernel or user Android Rev HD and Mike's OC Daemon with any compatible custom kernel -- which depends on if you're using a 2.3.3 or a 2.3.4 ROM.
How that helps d0oD

How easy is it to employ the OC Daemon and a kernal for it? Is it something we can just DL to out SD card?
Yes Dude, just flash a custom rom. If you're on a 2.3.3 based rom there's plenty of custom kernels and if you're on a 2.3.4 based rom just flash The Unity V6 or V7 kernel which should come with the virtuous OVERCLOCK Daemon included as part of the flashable.zip that you can find in the Leedroid ROM's thread in development.

Cpu0 is at 1890
and when i ran linpack and got Cpu1 it was only at 1188.
Unity V5 on Senseless 1.3
I found this out before SOFF with the kernel module insmod. Even with the virtusous_oc demon, it still not working. I'm using 2.3.4 kernel with smartass, I wonder if that works on second core.

I just checked with insert coin 2.3.4 rom scaling governor of the cpu0 is smartass and governor of cpu1 is ondemand. I guess that does not work either.

Come on we need further testing, need to know the KERNEL, ROM, and what app you are using to control the CPU. CF-Bench is a longer test that stresses both cores.
If you look a the thread with Faux this is an issue with the ROMs or the OC apps, not the CPU, which the CPU in the phone is one of the only ones with an ASYMMETRIC CPU, meaning that the cores do not sync or lock to one another.
I am using set cpu with the unity v7 kernel and it works fine I am over clocked to 1.7ghz at full, when battery gets low goes down to 700mhz, when screen off about 500 mhz
when using stock kernal I used a manual settings using setCPU.txt obv cant over clock it but could under volt it to save battery when screen was off... if anybody wants my set cpu profile (txt file) I still have it floating about
you know what here is the file
place the file on the root of your sd card and in set cpu select manful from the device list.
remember stock kernel = no overclock but happy under clocking

Ok you can't apparently pay attention to the point of this thread, all CPU apps, CPU Master, SetCPU, Virtuous Overclock all are able to overclock my CPU with the custom kernels, the problem is not me being able to overclock or not, its been tested by me many times with other kernels as well, and the OP that the Second Core is not sync and also not being modified by the governor as well. So all the CPU apps are only controlling the single core.
Does anybody tried CPU Master ? I think it's the OC utility that coredroid ROM suggest...

try system tuner to overclock your processor...it works with faux 004 (also if you want performance change the governer to ondemand. its possible with system tuner too)

Each kernel has a range of frequencies built in, check the specification before you flash to get the range you want. All of the CPU management apps can only work within the ranges defined in the kernel.
sent from HTC Pyramid using Tapatalk 2
Try the new Bricked kernel. You can easily set the maximum and minimum frequencies simply by renaming the ZIP file. Use Recovery to flash. Setting CPU frequencies was never that easy!
I would say try bricked (like aayush mentioned). As he said, you can change the clock speeds by renaming the zip file (up to 1,944 Ghz, but only if your phone can handle it, so I would suggest that you first use "System Tuner" to test how high you can go with oc).
try searching for a kernel that supports hiigher clock rate
for example when flashing arhd it asks you about the kernel you want and not sure wich one can go to 1.7ghz or more

I agree...with bricked kernel, you can set CPU min/max....
I tried Bricked at 1.83 and works like a charm. Tried at 1.99 but after a minute or so my phone rebooted so I'm back to the more stable 1.83 and the battery is amazing!

Problem: Music player lags a bit

I'm on 4.0.4.. Stock ROM.. matr1x kernel..
The music player lags while the song is playing if I start something else like Whatsapp or browser..
As in the song literally lags..
I've tried oc'ing it to 1.4ghz..
And have plenty of free memory..
But still it lags..
Can someone please help..
Do I need to change the kernel? if so which one is good?

i have no issues with this kernel, but if u have a nexus s and not a 4g i will advise you to not oc to 1.4, stay at 1.3/1.2 . cuz nexus s processor are diferent...
but if u think it is the kernel, flash another one, but that one should work perfect

Trinity?

Try raising voltages back to stock. Some phones can UV without rebooting but become far less efficient and unstable. Matr1x is undervolted by default.
Edit: See here for stock voltages.

I'm really hoping we see some T-Mo USA compatible kernels coming soon. All previous one's I've tried did not work, and usually broke Wifi, or never would even boot.
Also hoping that we see CM9/AOKP compatible versions as well.
Make a nandroid and flash the boot.img through fastboot, whats the worst that could happen?
Nice, GPU overclock. Guys, I'm going to try this on my TMOBUS device and report back whether it works.
This is looking good! Can't wait to hear whether or not it works on 1.84 TMO-US base. I can't use fastboot from my work computer or I'd test it myself.
Yeah, Im running it on Leedroid 2.1 with the 1.78 base. Will let the phone charge before testing it.

Heres a first time quadrant test running at 1.7GHz (can clock to 2GHz!) in spite of the S3 One S owners
I have one question: There was this IMPORTANT note where it said I had to flash a zip, but which should I flash if I'm on V5?
I suppose this will only work on Sense ROMS?
Link ://d-h.st/foy v1-v4 its said but I installed the zip with v5 kernel runs great!
Flash (CWM/TWRP) compatible with this kernel postboot script and thermald.conf for better preformance and battery safe.
Flashed this over 1.84 with success. Quadrant is a couple hundred points higher without over clocking.
