Today I saw in a local store (in Italy) that tomorrow they'll have a sale on Google/Samsung Nexus S, at €280 (unlocked), it is worth the price or it's already an old device?
Currently I have an HTC HD2 with Android NAND rom, which is working fine for me...
why not get the new Galaxy Nexus instead of the old Nexus S ?

I'm not mcbyte_it, but my guess would be because the Galaxy Nexus will be twice the price?
@mcbyte_it: I'd say go for it. If you're on a limited budget, the Nexus S is a great choice. I wanted one when I was buying a phone about six months ago, but back then it was out of my price range.

Gusar321 answered it: newest euper-hitech phones are always above €500 (iphone 4 unlocked €550, Galaxy S II €599, HTC Evo 3D €599), I got my HD2 used for €350

I'll read reviews about it, as I like the possibility to change firmwares and do more than what it offers by default.....
Yes, I would go for it. ICS is guaranteed for Nexus S.
Should I wait until the Galaxy Nexus comes out or should I sell my G2x right now and use that money to buy a Samsung Galaxy S2? I also heard the Samsung Galaxy S2 HD recently came out in South Korea; however, I do not know when it is coming to the US. I just hope I can sell my G2x for at least $300.

I have a Galaxy 3 i5801 and a Galaxy SL i9003 and i have been thinking to buy a phone in replacement of Galaxy 3. I have a budget which of 20-25 thousand. I have two phones on my mind the LG Optimus 2x and Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc. Please help me. If you have any other suggestions please reply.
NEEDS:
I need a phone with good xda support.
It should support jellybean.
Get a phone made by google in case you need a jelly bean!!

Google has made companies support their phones for the next 3 update cycles (or something like that). However, this is valid only for post Q3 2011 phones and later. That's why I would recommend going for a recently released phone rather than the ones you mentioned.
If you want the ultimate developer support, as ronhoover suggested, go for a Google phone. Even the Nexus S is a great choice in this case.

for what price you replaced your phone and where?
can you please suggest us also, and how old was your galaxy 3..
The galaxy s2 with stock rom is not much better than the i9003 with modded in term of responsiveness, but after a custom kernel modded only it is ridiculously fast. Faster and smoother than anything I have tried.
9003 DXKP9 with UC non-OC v7 compared to Galaxy S2 DXKL3 with Siyah 2.6.3. Both on stock speed.
Oh my God!!!
Guys u will not believe this. Galaxy s2 recieved OFFICIAL ICS 4.0.3 over kies Here is news
LINK
I will recommend s2 phone to buy.

No my friend the GSII is by far the smoothest phone I've ever used, I had to choose between Note and the SII and the latter had more support on xda forums and more portable.

Why buy S2 now? Sure, its the best phone on the market right now and got ICS but its already "old"...
Wait a month or 2 and new, much better phones will appear and then you will regret getting the S2!

As Ron said, he has already bought the one but still we may kepp this thread alive with suggetions for the guys who are deciding what's next?

I recently spoke to a Samsung rep (Samsung's website live chat) and with a Samsung rep (in person). Both said:
"it will be updated, at least to Android 4.3, but we cannot tell you when".
So I'm pretty sure we are getting 4.3 at some point. Heck, if the Note 2 and S III got it, it's only reasonable that our Note 10.1 gets it. It was the flagship tablet of its (short) time, such as the Note 2 and S III being flagships/high-end. Everyone's been saying that Samsung won't update it to force us go for the Note 10.1 2014 edition, so why did the Note 2 and Galaxy S III get the update (ok, ok, Galaxy Gear blabla)? Wouldn't they force you to go for a Note 3 and Galaxy S IV? You get my point.
So, be prepared to wait (wait... wait... wai...), and official news about the updates *cough kitkat* are coming.
My guess is: Android 4.3 and no Android 4.4, unfortunately but thankfully.

Dont care, as I am happy with what I got. Anyway most updates after a certain point will start requiring more hardware power. Like going from win95 to xp. Thanks for the info
I only want 4.3 since I hope that it will fix the USB host mode bug...
It's an one year old device, so hopefully they will update to 4.3

The problem that USB connections (host mode) do not always work.

Maybe only on some country's ROMs?
HAven't encountered it on mine.

well.. actually with KitKat the have gone reverse. like a phone with 512 mb can run it.
Some older model (2010) phones are capable of running a slimed version of kitkat
So there is no chance that our beloved note 10.1 couldnt run it
There are several other threads on this topic. It possibly depends on combinations of hardware and ROMs. I'm quite sure it started after the upgrade to xxucma8. It could be a combination of certain apps. But it's a nuisance.
NO Note 2 Phone updated
I keep seeing this several times on this forum . The NOTE 2 Phone has not got the 4.3 update. There is no word on when we will get it. A few days back there was a so Called leak for the [email protected] Version. Some have tried it on t-mobile(what i have note 2 phone. But with Large issues. I cant say how this leak is running on a at&t note 2.
So the bottom line is NO Update for note 2 phone.
If you find one differently let me know Because i want My Update. Its a expensive phone to be left behind.

Wasn't the a contractual agreement with Google among android licensees to upgrade all devices for at least 18 months?
http://www.sammobile.com/2013/11/18/galaxy-tab-2-10-1-wi-fi-gt-p5110-receiving-android-4-2-2-update/
Seriously, if the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 gets Android 4.2.2, our Note must get some sort of update, don't you guys think? Otherwise they wouldn't update Galaxy Tab 2 and make you buy the Tab 3.
So, calm down everyone, we are probably getting a newer Android version

Didnt 2014 just came on sale in Canada? I think this is the problem - 2014 model isnt even sold world wide. I think they want people to replace their old 2012 models to new one. If they update the 2012 model, people wouldnt see any reason to upgrade or buy newer and more expenisive device. Dont know... just speculating...
But budget price tab2 gets an update before their premium line device - this is something you wont expect to see and happen when buying a premium prize device. You expect to get a premium class customer care, dont you? Unfortunately it seems to be something special that Samsung cannot offer... A flagship without updates... so sad...

and keeping support for AC-3 codecs!
It's been nearly a year and i have still the same TW 4.1.2 rooted system.

"The only hard number thrown out today is 18 months. That's how long future hardware will be in the support cycle" (from your link above)
Support and applicable updates. I didnt see that they said phones will get all Android updates. As far as I know, there is no such contract. If you wish to get Android updates, only Nexus line is supported for 18 months.
Samsung is known to be lazy but this is too much for a premium class flagship model. It's already 10months I got A4.1. and then nothing while my bfs budget prize Asus Tf300 has 4.2 (already 6 months ago).

Yes, it's true, Asus is superb, as always when it comes to firmware updates. Very close to Nexus line.
However, their QC is another story.
BTW, anyone who says Sony is great with updates haven't any experience with their VAIO line.
So we ALL! have either MKBHD Android L review or someone else's... I wonder.. Since motorola still has some things with Google will the MAXX, ULTRA etc get the update after the google play devices and nexus devices... im not too sure because we all know how verizon is... what do you guys think?
