s3? do you mean the Samsung Galaxy s3? really? oh God! how could you?
Did you know that Motorola has become the best at updating?
Did you know that s3 was release in april 2012 and our phone was released on september 2013?
s3 updating life is dead with kitkat, ultra has just got 1 update after released and its just 9 months old, I could bet we will get android L officially.

Not because samsung is terrible, s3 update dead line just ended, s3 users should be lucky they got kitkat.
s3 is more than 2 years old. They should do that with every phone.

[Q] Will this tab be getting an ICS update?

Just wondering if the Samsung galaxy tab plus will be getting the ice cream sandwich update, heard news that it might and might not be getting it, so I'm not really sure. Any 1? XD

I researched this before I bought my Plus. I would not have bought it without assurances from Samsung that this would indeed upgrade to ICS.
I, for one, cannot wait!!!!

Of course converting Q1 2012 from the "Samsung Timezone" to UTC means it's actually Q4 2012.

So do I... But from my experience with my past 2 Samsung devices... They tend to push back release dates 4-5 times before actually releasing the update. (Moment and Epic 4g)
Although maybe I just had bad luck in picking those two particular devices.

Actually Samsung is pretty timely with updates - as long as there is NOT a North American carrier in the loop (So T-Mobile TabPlus users are probably screwed.)
Once there's a North American carrier in the loop - you're screwed with almost any device from any manufacturer. The Tab 10.1 received updates in a fairly timely fashion, the I9000 did too, and the I9100 seems to be coming along fine.

I am surprised
I am very concerned and surprised that Chinese tablets are coming with ICS 4.3, even Sony S tablet has already updated to ICS via OTA and our device still has the same version that is Honeycomb. The most amazing thing is that Samsung is mentioning that our device is starting to receive the updates but when??? They are saying the same thing from long time ago.
there are no ICS updates for this devices...???
just curious, samsung forget this tab
Nothing yet, I think Samsung will not update it.
Don't think there will be, since SS just released Tab 2 which is an ICS tab... (possibly to take down kindle)
the Plus is a relatively young device. it MUST receive ics.

They said it may get ICS, but being a new device means nothing. For Samsung, 'soon' usually applies only to the next device they want to sell you.

It is in the list of devices, that will get ics
But first....
It could receive ICS but Samsung needs to sell his new ICS TAB 2 devices to the customers who are expecting the new android version anxiously. the strategy works because many people prefer selling their old tablet and buy a new one.
We could just hoping that we WILL receive ICS.. we'll just need to wait n see..

Galaxy S2 phones in Canada began getting ICS starting in May. Given that phone came out about a year or so before the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus... well, some Galaxy S phones in the US only just got Gingerbread in May.
With that sort of precedent, I fear we might not get ICS until the Google Nexus Tablet 2 with the Tegra 5 chipset is released.
Our tab will get ics, its a known fact. As much as I want the ics upgrade, I am happy they have not released it yet because we would all be *****ing about the peel ap not working with ics and other things that make the gal plus tab better that the the basic tabs that did get the update. Look at the asus transformer ts3, mybrother in law has it and it is a disaster right now.

Do we really need a new thread every two weeks mentioning a JB update for the S3 that doesn't apply to Verizon customers in the Verizon forum?
These are about as helpful as a "first" post but about 10 times more annoying.

Maybe next year when android 5 updates come to the galaxy s5 comes out we will see a 4.4 kitkat on our tablet. Priority will always be new phones and tablets. But im pretty sure we will get it some day. Also I think there is a problem with incompatibility from snote from note 3..a lot of complains will happen if the note 10.1 upgrade with it and people cang open files
Which model are you guys talking about?
I have a GN GT-N8013 ( 64G GNote 10.1 original ) and am still waiting for Samsung to come out with 4.3.
Am happy with the basic note but would really love multiple user support.
It's not likely the 8013 will see anything beyond 4.3.

Call it insider knowledge.
Note 2 and SGS3 having similar internals are supposed to get upto Android 4.4 Kitkat..so why not?
But having said that both these phones have only just started getting 4.3 few days back in some regions, so who knows Kit Kat can take couple of years to come to Note N8000, when Google release android 5
Its really a shame on Samsung, they should only release a limited number of devices each year for which they can release timely updates..
As it sits right now, we are 3 OS versions back. We will get an update in the (near?) future. Will we get 4.4? Probably. Will it be before the end of 2014? Right now it seems unlikely.
I'm living in the Netherlands and my Galaxy Note 10.1 N8010 runs on Android 4.1.2. (The latest available version in the Netherlands)

i wont fall into the same trap again. thats the reason holding me back from buying the note 2014.
Sorry guys if this is going a *little* bit off-topic (I'm going to talk about Android 4.3, rather than 4.4, but hey, still about an update for our awesome yet forgotten 10.1....)
It's a quote from a reply on other thread, by me.
I recently spoke to a Samsung rep (Samsung's website live chat) and with a Samsung rep (in person). Both said:
"it will be updated, at least to Android 4.3, but we cannot tell you when".
So I'm pretty sure we are getting 4.3 at some point. Heck, if the Note 2 and S III got it, it's only reasonable that our Note 10.1 gets it. It was the flagship tablet of its (short) time, such as the Note 2 and S III being flagships/high-end. Everyone's been saying that Samsung won't update it to force us go for the Note 10.1 2014 edition, so why did the Note 2 and Galaxy S III get the update (ok, ok, Galaxy Gear blabla)? Wouldn't they force you to go for a Note 3 and Galaxy S IV? You get my point.
So, be prepared to wait (wait... wait... wai...), and official news about the updates *cough kitkat* are coming.
My guess is: Android 4.3 and no Android 4.4, unfortunately but thankfully.

The Moto G will probably be supported for 1 to 1,5 years as long as the hardware can take it.
I hope they give us Key Lime Pie (5.0) before they decide to stop updates for it.
Moto has been on the ball lately in getting updates for older devices like the Razrs so I'm holding onto hope that it will get a few more updates.

If they supported before i am sure that they will supporting it now, since they are a google company.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It should in theory get 18 months support, so Android 5.0 is a real possibility, as Google is now concentrating on getting Android to run on lower spec smartphones.
BUT
Motorola could if they want stop support for the Moto G after only 12 months, because when all said and done it isn't a true Nexus device, even though they are now owned by Google, and alot of companies don't really support their low end smartphones beyond a 12 months period, and by the time Android 5.0 is out they have a Moto G replacement in the wings.

Google are the ones who have said 18 months of updates for their nexus line. I'd imagine they will do this with Motorola as well. Hey...beats some phone makers.
Sent from my Moto X cell phone telephone.....
Well we all assume that the moto g is a "mini-nexus" and that's why it can have up to 18 months updates but, motorola never said so. It can be that it stops earlier, specially considering that its a mid-range device.
Though motorola's CEO did said they will focus on releasing less devices and give them better support. This last year (2013) they only released two devices, which is in track of what he said in that interview but doesn't guarantee that "more support" is meant to be more than a year.
I'm pretty sure it will see android 5.x , assuming google won't go all the way from 4.4 to 4.5, 4.6, 4.7, 4.8, 4.9 before the big jump

"Lollipop" or "Licorice" would be my guess.
There are already lot of first-class devs around here, so I think the future of the Moto G is in good hands even without any official support

Defy+ only got to GB 2.3.6 but Quarx made it possible to decently run 4.4.2 on the old trusty defy. It's has been a long way from froyo to kitkat.
So if the Moto Gee gets attention from developers and I'm sure it will we have nothing to worry about.
I don't care as long as the hardware gets yearly updates ? If they bring out a moto g 2 for the same price with the latest firmware I'll upgrade every year, just hope the moto g 2 gets LTE

Verizon rolls out Nougat update for Motorola Turbo Droid 2

I can't believe Verizon is providing Nougat to a 2015 phone before a 2016 flagship phone. What's going on. At this rate the Android "O" version will be out before we get Nougat. http://www.androidauthority.com/vnougat-motorola-droid-turbo-2-752240/

I can believe it. I think Samsung and Verizon are having some disagreements or something. They just straight up left the beta, didn't get the gear S3 on time, and then of course there was the Note 7 fiasco.
Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
Yeah, there is definitely something going on. I think Verizon doesn't trust Samsung. I was chatting with a rep and she pretty much said that we how samsung has been, we are being extra cautious.
But it is absolutely pathetic that a 2015 phone gets it before a flagship phone from 2016. I wish there was a way for us to fight this. Guess the only thing is by going to different carriers.
This makes me sad.
Also Nougat for Verizon Moto Z Droid, long time ago.
