Has anyone tried using the Chainfire3D app (and/or the experimental EGL Driver) with their Xoom with any results? The market app does say that it Honeycomb is supported but it does say "Honeycomb is still a big risk".
Before I flash it, I wanna know if anyone has had any success
Thanks,
Annie
I wonder why you want to try this... chainfire3D is nice to emualte Tegra/Qualcomm/etc. GPU, but Xoom has a really nice GPU, so this makes no big sense to me.

I wanna try this because the Chainfire3D EGL driver has Anti-aliasing, which for this certain game (osu!droid) can be quite neccessary.
I have it for one of my phones. I have tried it on the Xoom but it did nothing special for me because we have Tegra chips and I never used a game that needed modified drivers.
If I remember correctly its five bucks to try. And you support a developer. You could always give it a shot.

It's great to be able to support the developers of these fine apps. If you are using any of the custom Roms/kernels with your Xoom, don't forget to donate to to Team Tiamat/Team Rogue also!

As announced earlier,Rockstar Games has released GTA III in the Android Market today. Available now for $4.99, it works on select Android devices, mainly those running on NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, although company is promising a TI OMAP supported version soon, which will work on devices like Galaxy Nexus.
Games Features via Market Description:
Visually stunning updated graphics, character and vehicle models
HD quality resolution
Gameplay optimized for touch screen devices
Custom controls for the mobile platform
Countless hours of gameplay
Gamepad Support for select USB controllers
since,gt-i9003 uses T1 OMAP chipset,so i believe it will work on our device.
Tried to install the apk today, and got "There is a problem parsing the package." message.
not sure if its because of the chip or because i'm still running stock froyo that came with the phone "FROYO.JPKC2" (2.2.1) (arabic version).
If there is anyone who tried the game with gingerbread or a custom rom, please share if its working, and if it requires chainfire, etc,
thanks guys

does droid 3 use the nvidia chip? if not, you and the others that are testing the version of the game intended for nvidia are seeing that you should wait for the omap version, as OP stated
New version (1.1) supports PowerVR and works in our device (no FC after intro), but the game is slow, especially when you're driving a car. I have tried reducing textures and quality on chainfire, but doesn't improve too much.
I am on KPQ and CF-root without OC, you can try with UC OC, and will post here the results.
Holy cow!,this game runs awesome on uc v6 and xkpq, just tested it,guess what it runs faster than my brother's i9000

pls tell guys, u have sound while playing gta3?

i playing like xplay enjoy guys
My download stopped about halfway through, and when i opened it again, surprise surprise, it worked!! with no sound tho :S
the graphix are pretty smooth and the controls are very responsive, however the FPS drops a little with sharp turns or quick view changes, still quite playable.
I'm on stock froyo without chainfire 3D or any custom kernals.
Update: The download was corrupted as the memory card became full and save games are corrupted. Perhaps the sound files were never downloaded in the first place.
Without audio it works like a charm..

Sorry to say, but our Samsung Charges don't have the nVidia Tegra 2 that GTA3 for Android was built around... You're SOL man. Might still be able to refund your purchase and get yourself a PSP. All jokes aside though I did the same thing and looked it up after. Only phones with the chipset Tegra 2 can operate GTA3.
Have you tried using Chainfire 3D?
Sent from my SCH-I510 using xda premium
Tried with Chainfire, no luck. Chainfire emulates Tegra's decoding and processing, but can't emulate its hardware, IIRC, so some games (Riptide GP) work perfectly, some games (Galaxy on Fire 2) are glitchy as hell but playable, and some (well, this) just don't work at all.
There's some people without tegras workings. Just depends I guess.

Might be good news:
I found out through LogCat that the problem might lie within the PowerVR SGX540. Which is in fact the same GPU as the Galaxy Nexus, in which Rockstar states will fix soon. So yeah, it should work, just wait a bit for an update.

Still not working for me after the update
It worked for me after the update, however, the game lagged pretty bad and eventually froze. It didn't FC, it eventually came back but it wasn't playable. I haven't tried it again since.
So after uninstalling GTA3, I am not unable to re-install it. The Market claims my device in not compatible with it. How did I download it before then??? Any ideas here?

Luckily, I just got an ASUS Transformer and GTA3 runs amazingly well.
if try many ICS ROM and many kernel, but there are no one can play my SplinterCellHD more than 5 minutes, it always said 'unfortunatrly blah.. blah.. blah'

They can all play HD. You just need to install chainfire3d driver and you'll be good to go.
thanks for the answere, ill try to install chainfire first.

Using CM9 4.0.3 v2.1 with Air kernal 2.9 (200-1100, lulzactive(stock setting)/sio).
No FC when playing HD games, some games even dont need Chainfire 3D to run.
But it drains my battery
Anyway..there is no error of HD games with CM9
Try it and hope it works on you!
Um... a low available RAM is it's reason, isn't it?
I use a Ram manager PRO, setting ram manager pro Hard gaming, I play HD games and there isn't FC
and my phone's is CyberGR 7 + Air 3.0!
Make sure to install the driver after you install the chainfire app. Once phone reboots you should be good.
I already try all this methods, try to use chainfire and driver install on it, slim ICS, Trinity kernel, overclocked, ram optimation, all are still have same problems. But the longest time I can play its while I'm try to stop common application that running in background, so I think its a RAM problems.

I will test. thanks
These games are not in HD gameloft calls all their nexus game HD...480x800 is not HD resolution
You don't need chainfire unless your using adreno or tegra version of the game and u already stated u can play for up to 5 mins
And u don't need a particular rom or kernel
If was a ram issue you would see performance degrade over the course of gameplay(lower fps stuttering...ect) before is actually crashes
Could be corrupt data.
delete all the content in gameloft folder for game on SD card
Start up the game and re download game data.
pirated version it could be old version not optimised for ics
Or could be trying to do a licence check and when it can't verify it boots u from game
Edit
splinter cell isn't even listed on game loft website for nexus s.
Hi everyone. I'm a noob.
I was wondering if it was possible to make my HTC Desire S running PACman v20.0.1 ROM able to run Real Racing 3. It doesn't appear in the play store and online it says incompatible. Please reply
Thanks.
I would normally tell you to use market unlocker app, but it doesn't work anymore, so the only thing left would be warez try looking on the net for an apk... I'm playing rr3 on my DS overclocked to 1.7ghz but it's still leggy. Laggy but playable

lower the oc to 1k-1.2k, high oc is known to cause lag in some games.

Real Racing 3 was available on 28th February. I downloaded it, installed, noticed that it was laggy on my ROM. I've changed the ROM and it wasn't available. Since then I've tried some other ROMs and also incompatible. Installed with the .apk file and I'm now playing it(although it's lagging, especially after hacking and buying all cars )
Reaper V4.0 is probably the most stable rom available. Gaming performance proves to be much better on this rom, so you might want to give it a try.

Maybe the game performance would be great on it, but it's on GB. I have flashed the Desire XS and the performance of Real Racing 3 is even better, than on CM and PACman with overclocked CPU. But thanks anyway for your advice!

Your call. Something to remember is that many things affect gaming performance including governors and I/O schedulers. Also, you might want to try using V6 Supercharger script (link is in my sig) and GameBooster 2
Haven't got a chance a chance to try GameBooster 2 yet but judging from the responses in the play store, it seems to work well.

Hello everyone.
As you see, I'm "new" to this forum (I have been roaming here as a guest for a while) and it already helped me a lot in doing root, installing a custom recovery and custom Roms to my Samsung Galaxy Fit, I even learned how to overclock it!
Anyway, my main questioning is if there's anyway I can run apps that require a better CPU like Subway Surfers, Temple Run, Mobli and others?
I thank everyone in advance.
No way until it's ported or modified to run on armv6 processors.

As samo_gf said it depends on game porting from arm7 but as you require app to overclock your gfit then use "No frills CPU" from playstore

No u just need the ported game/app and depends on the game that you need to overclock your device.. Min 245Mhz and Max 729Mhz are good settings to overclock for most of the running games

Well, I'm usually running 748Mhz and 122Mhz as the minimum, so I guess that will be more than enough to run those games. All that I need now it's a bigger micro sd card (4GB ain't doing the trick no more)
