(Q) GTA3 working on Charge - Verizon Droid Charge

Anyone have GTA3 from market working on their charge?
Mine downloaded fine but then just sits at a black screen the goes back to launcher after about 5 seconds.
I'm running infinity 1204

Sorry to say, but our Samsung Charges don't have the nVidia Tegra 2 that GTA3 for Android was built around... You're SOL man. Might still be able to refund your purchase and get yourself a PSP. All jokes aside though I did the same thing and looked it up after. Only phones with the chipset Tegra 2 can operate GTA3.

Have you tried using Chainfire 3D?
Sent from my SCH-I510 using xda premium

Tried with Chainfire, no luck. Chainfire emulates Tegra's decoding and processing, but can't emulate its hardware, IIRC, so some games (Riptide GP) work perfectly, some games (Galaxy on Fire 2) are glitchy as hell but playable, and some (well, this) just don't work at all.

There's some people without tegras workings. Just depends I guess.

Probably need better hardware...

There may be hope. I was poking around in the Galaxy Tab forums (I have one, plus it has the same CPU and GPU). lo and behold, I found the same thread there. One person said this:

Might be good news:
I found out through LogCat that the problem might lie within the PowerVR SGX540. Which is in fact the same GPU as the Galaxy Nexus, in which Rockstar states will fix soon. So yeah, it should work, just wait a bit for an update.

Still not working for me after the update

It worked for me after the update, however, the game lagged pretty bad and eventually froze. It didn't FC, it eventually came back but it wasn't playable. I haven't tried it again since.

So after uninstalling GTA3, I am not unable to re-install it. The Market claims my device in not compatible with it. How did I download it before then??? Any ideas here?

This sums it up for me, our poor Hummingbird can't keep up
Still worth the $3, it's nostalgic, and good to keep for a future more powerful device

Luckily, I just got an ASUS Transformer and GTA3 runs amazingly well.

App Optimization

Do you guys feel like on almost every app this phone responds a bit late compared to other phones. Its almost like no app is optimized for this processor. For example youtube, other phones respond right as you touch the screen. This phone takes a little more time.

If only apps were optimized for the tegra 2 processor.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Aren't there THD Games optimized for the Tegra 2? Only game which doesn't run well for me is Fruit Ninja... Everything else (Apps/Games) run perfectly fine.

GTA III?

ive been trying to get gta 3 to play smoothly but to not much success as of yet... im wondering if anyone has been playing it on this device, well playing it smoothly that is... and how they got to that result. im on barebone, with antonx's most recent kernel, thanks for the help, you guys havent let me down yet! (fingers crossed)

yea you can use it and everything, but since it's not supported, it wont work as smoothly asa you want it to be. If you uninstall it, go to the market and look it up, it'll say not supported on our device
ive been screwing with chainfire 3d trying to get it running better, ive gotten it to be on the verge of playable but it could be better, im gonna tinker with it some more and see what i can come up with. thanks for the info though.

Have you oc'd at all? Or set scaling to performance?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
Off you are on a bml ROM (haven't cheeked out bare bonne so i don't know) you can flash lightning zap then adjust the governor settings... There are instructions on how to do so linked in the OP... That should smooth out fps refresh rate...

Im on the oc kernel so yeah i got that bad boy cranked up to 1400, it was my understanding that only ondemandx and smartass worked in regards to scaling on this particular kernel, but hey i'll try just about anything, if that makes a difference i will let you know.

Each phone is different, tweaks and such that improves your phone performance may not help the next phone. That is also why the game might be unplayable on your device. Also most newer roms have the various tweaks built in. So installing them twice can end up harming your performance.
I was in the same boat as OP. I used Gremlin Remover, and started from scratch, and now I'm getting decent performance from GTA. Still lags some. But not as bad as used to. Definately playable.
It works just fine for my wife.

Ok, I'm probably wrong, but I believe placenta is a body part found in women. The umbilical cord goes through it, or something. Probably wrong, but, YOLO.

I can't speak for the KF1 because I haven't loaded this app on mine yet, but I can say that certain things do load faster with this app. I'm not saying that games run better, but there is a noticeable difference when navigating back to the home screen or launching the messaging app on my phone. I would assume that this might help the KF1 because of the somewhat older hardware, since the consensus seems to be that newer hardware already uses this sort of tactic to reduce CPU lag. Obviously I didn't read all one billion pages of the "discussion" about whether this works or not, so please let me know if I'm super wrong.
Gave it a spin on my kindle fire 1 and noticed absolutely zero performance difference. I'd have to agree it is a placebo, at least on the kf1

GTA Vice City

Hey guys,
Whenever I go to this in the play store it wont let me install and I get the following message:
"You're Device isn't compatible with this version."
Anyone managed to install vice city on their tablet?
Works on mine running stock.
Hmmmm really? Which firmware are you currently running?
Latest stock for the 16gb wifi. If you can't see it restore it from a titanium backup from another device.
hmmm managed to get it installed but a bit disappointed with the performance, maxxed out its very low fps. Same for everyone else?

Where are you talking about selecting which version of the XTZ you have?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using XDA Premium HD app
I have the SGP321 running CM10.2. VC runs awful, extremely low fps, diashow. I think the GPU runs at a low frequency, becuase in asphalt 7 the tablet uses approx 1.5 times as many power as displayed in cooltools. Has anybody a fix for that? Or how can I manually set the GPU frequency?
I contacted Rockstar about this game asking for them to add the device to the compatibility, after providing them with the device info they said they would be investigating, that was on the 11 August though.
I have ended up obtaining the game using other methods (silly having to since I paid for it) and it does play perfect on max settings on my tablet.

2nd core inactive

I just noticed that my second core is inactive on my g2x phone. Does any one know is this normal or my phone is malfunctioned? I downloaded this app name CPU Identifier and it shows my second core is inactive. I also did run a benchmark test on Quadrant and the score is around 1914 where as the normal score for g2x should be around 2500. Any help how to fix this would be appreciated.
App link? Would like to try it. Searched market didn't know which one

Probably has malfunctioned due to overheated. the first core is showing 1998BMPS and the second is showing 0. I haven't done anything major to the phone since I brought it two years ago except rooted it. May be I will try different kernals. Hope that it will makes it work again.

I hope that is not a hardware problem. I will try to install cyanogenMod to see if it can fix that.
Im currently running MIUI (SINGH UI) for the g2x and it also shows that my second core is down. Doesn't bother me though....I have not seen any drop in performance since I have originally rooted the phone and as far as overall speed is concerned I don't think my phone has ever been faster.

Try Quadrant benchmark you will see how much has affected. The normal score should be around 2500 but now is around 1989. Also, now I can't play games that has 3d graphic.

I guess the rom has something to do with it. I'm having problems with ICS and jb with quadrant. But with cm7 and a good kernel (faux123), my score reached almost 3000!

someone please help

Hey thanks for pointing out the second core was inactive as well as the other minor bug of the date an time resetting. Adressing these issues, do you think another release will be made with fixes. I love this rom personally i think its more interactive with its user interface an adjustable themes.
My performance was lowered.. wait with the 2nd core inactive is deep sleep even possible? I noticed a minor battery drain with the wifi... thinking its just me..
