Dock Mode - HTC Desire S

Just realised it does landscape.
Make this interesting... http://blog.cablejive.com/2011/09/19/dockboss-now-available-for-order/
or would this be better http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MD099ZM/A?afid=p228|GBUK&cid=AOS-EMEA-SHOPIP-GoogleBase-UK
Do any iPhone docs also have bluetooth connection for audio?

Wha..?
Desire S may NOT or will NOT receive native DOCK support

Did I make a mistake and tell everyone something they knew already?
This is what it looks like, though this isn't a DS and it doesn't need the HTC cradle, hence my wish to see if I can exploit an iPhone speaker system.

Dock mode on Endymion V2.2:
But I selected it manually. Have no idea how it will behave when connected to a physical dock.
Cheers

It should work? HTC sell an official dock, I presume it does that.

For Desire S? I doubt that...was looking for one and couldn't find any. I saw some docks having a micro usb in which you plug the Desire S horizontaly but those were not genuine HTC docks.
Like the one HERE

Here's one .htcstore.eu/cz/htc-cr-s470-detail-3V60000101.aspx from our local shop but I guess you can get it also from your HTC store.

Unfortunately not There is nothing like this in RO. I've found some traces of it in some online private stores but they just say "product available soon", no pictures, no price, no nothing.
In the official HTC store there is no dock either. I'v checked other official HTC sites as well and not even UK or DE has it (at least not listed on their official pages). Only some of the Central European countries have it (Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia).
I do hope it'll be added to the other countries as well, or I should speak with a friend in Poland to buy it for me

Do you guys mean these official ones?
CR S470 HTC Desire S USB Cradle
HTC Desire S Protector & JMB Cradle
HTC Desire S Battery & JMB Cradle
You guys might want to read the description.. Its quite confusing actually if it's really meant for Desire S.. Someone needs to contact them..

http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.php/4469/htc-desire-s-desktop-cradle--cr-s470-

They have some mistakes on the site for sure. On the HTC Accessories site given by Skanob (first link), one can easily tell that the photo does not match a Desire S. The micro USB pin in that craddle is too much on the right side to fit the Desire S. We have it more to the center.
Also the description is confusing. In the title is said it's the craddle for Desire S and below in the description it is said:
FEATURES
• Sleek, stylish design
• Automatically launches the Sensation’s ‘Dock Mode.’
• Sync your PC/Laptop with your HTC Sensation
• Perfect viewing angle for your handset
• Simultaneous charge and sync capabilities.
• Micro USB connection
For me Desire s is NOT HTC Sensation. So untill I see one...
I'm not saying they don't exist. Just they are very hard to find at least in RO and not all official HTC sites have it...that's strange

I wouldn't mind having that handset, in terms of its design anyway! Dpad and numpad combined, not too bad!

Was that a question at the audience? At the site, MTK is said to be a company making chips (for dopod presumably). But by the look of the touchscreen (note the 5 touch areas) I would guess that's the popular Chinese handset interface (nothing special there though, will find a review if anyone's interested).
it's very popular in china, because the price is good for the customers, any other companies could release the PPC phone as cheap as this one?it seems none!
I would get one too ...
I does not quite understand the overpricing of the HTC products ...
as we can all see customer support sucks ...
after all who will give 800 euros for a TyTN 2 (Tilt)?
osavioro,u have to know, such as HTC these big company, they got a huge profit on phone, then release a huge price for the customers, they r JS(JS=奸商=profiteer),we must refuse them,go ahead
Actually I got my t-mobile wing at $135 which isn't that much more than this one. (The sales person at the T-mobile counter gave me a price break after a half an hour debate on the phone. lol)

Anyone have a link to more about this phone? Googling "Shanzai" brings up this thread and nothing else related to phones, and www.m8cool.com (as seen in the photo) doesn't exist.
www.m8cool.com exists ... not that I've been able to extract any particular information from it
Soooooooo where can you buy one?
That link takes you to a page but you can't buy one there.
This looks like it might be fun to play with.
Did some searching and found this:

Its Not $99.00 -- more like $150.00 and then shipping from China. Gets pretty expensive.

However, everything is China is MARKED very high. Doesn't mean you pay alot.

Phones with keyboards - Android or WM, any manufacturer

Hey guys
I won't bore you with a long story so here goes the short one: I need a new phone, I currently have an Acer M900, I could buy another M900 but why not try another?
must have KEYBOARD!
Current choices and ruled out:
Omnia 2 - b7whateveritisbuthasakeyboard - No diferent to my Acer and no chefs
Milestone/Android - serious concerns over its keyboard, market access for non-network locked. Ruled out.
TP2 - lesser model than my current Acer and its HTC which i refuse to buy having been burnt several times.
So, are there any other top of the line phones with a keyboard i haven't considered?
Thanks!!!
Have you looked at the Sony Ericsson X2?
But only the TP2 has XDA developer support

Not heard of an X2 so will take a look but I know the X1 was somewhat of a disaster and also made by HTC.
omniapro b7610. its basically an omnia2 with a keyboard. (slightly smaller screen and internal storage...)
LG Expo (IQ). 1Ghz Snapdragon and wm6.5.
and yeah the xperia x2. looks really sweet but using old processor. not made by HTC.

The X2 does look good but you have just said my very first glance - old slow processor.
Any idea when the X10 is out? That looks spanky...

start or end or no idea? I'm only back in the country for the first few days...... argh!
arghhh!!!
Very pricey and April
X2 will be awesome, and it's coming soon in the States (not sure about elsewhere).
The Expo too is a good phone for sure, what with Snapdragon and a nice keyboard.

arm bag strip for desire to hold it while running

I found one at decathlon but it was too short to keep an htc or iphone.
Do u know where to find one on ebay?
Almost a year ago I bought the "Tune Belt AB8" somewhere from eBay for my HTC TyTNII. I think it was designed for the iPhone, but fitted nice for my TyTNII and guess what? It fits the Desire even better!!
The Tune Belt itself is perfect for the job!
http://www.jjbsports.com/run-365-armband-wallet/running/shop/fcp-product/10930
Bought this the other day from JJB, fits the desire perfectly but only without a headphone plugged in. With the headphone plugged in I have to keep the zip open a little on one side, works fine but wont keep the rain off.
Try the xtrememac sportwrap obviously for the IPOD or IPHONE, but the headphones plug in nicely and it fits perfectly. I can even use the screen whilst it is in the strap.
It is nice and comfortable as well. Surprised me a little really I usually dont like things on my arm when I am running. The only thing that did not seem to work perfectly is the little plastic clip that you can wind the extra flex onto it keept unwinding.
This one for the Nexus One ought to do the trick:

I wish someone would make a Desire specific one.
Anything new on this subject?
I think I'll just need to go for the google Nexus armband that igadgetz make. I might be a bit tight but it's the closest thing to what I'm looking for. Shame as I would really have preferred an armband specific to the exact Desire dimensions.

Which OTG cable?

Now that source is released I'm sure OTG will be implemented quickly for all of us to enjoy and take advantage of. It will be my first time using this feature, and I was curious if you guys had any insight on if there's any cable better than the rest? I saw a 9.99 one on eBay for the S II and many others. Does it matter which one I buy?
Honestly, mine is from eBay for like $2 and it works very well

lol no. I didn't check the seller, mine was located in the US. Let me see if I can find them then. Mine was definitely similarly priced and looked the same which is why I didn't check the info in-depth.

lol they are the same ones I think. It does say they originally ship from Hong Kong. I bet BOHO Electronics just had some in stock locally when I ordered.
Anyway for anyone else looking, just search USB OTG cable and find yourself a US (or your country) seller to get it shipped quickly. They should generally be under $5 shipped.
I'm in Alabama and Boho got mine to me in under a week

Just recieved my OTG cable today, bought the one Myron posted off Amazon, but though a different seller so didn't ship from Hong Kong. Only issue is that it wouldn't fit with the case on (I have the Speck Candyshell Grip), but it looks like most of them I've seen so far wouldn't fit either. If anyone knows of an OTG cable with a smaller MicroUSB end that might work, I would love to know!
Looking forward to being able to use it with my HOX!

[Q] Opinion re: practicality of app space for heavy app use

I am looking at both the HOX and the Skyrocket (aka Samsung S II LTE on Rogers). From what I've read, despite having similar specs, the HOX is superior. The obvious limitation is the lack of expandability. While for *most* users this wouldn't be much of an issue (use that Dropbox space!), I have my phones loaded with tons of medical references. Right now, I have ~7 GB of apps on my old HTC Sensation 4G. So, I'd like an opinion as to whether you think the HOX is a practical choice. I'd rather take a hit on performance than sacrifice apps!
Edit: When I say ~7 GB of apps, I do mean the apk + its data, not just apks only. Also, I'm definitely rooting whatever phone I get. I'm using AOKP on my Sensation right now and will probably do the same with the new one.
I have the skyrocket and the hoxl my skyrocket is half the phone the hoxl is if u need storage can't u get a 32gb version of hoxl?
My skyrocket has screen blobs on it and the sticky power button issue so ya two hardware problems on one phone bad deal get the hoxl and don't look back.

Rogers doesn't carry the 32 GB version, and I can't afford to buy one elsewhere.
This doesn't answer my question, though. As I said, I'd rather suffer some small annoyances than be unable to keep my vital references!
It's all up to you man... If the space is really that much of a bother get the skyrocket end of story
I have about 5gig of app w/data, but I don't store music and photos. I use Pandora and transfer photos to pc regularly. Have about 8 gigs extra space after my backup of Rom and downloads.

only you know what you can/can't live without. if your medical stuff requires more space than the phone has and you can't afford the 32gb version, then your decision has been made for you. I came to the HOX from Sensation and have managed just fine, but we all have different needs I guess.....
One thing about that picture I posted, I'm pretty sure 4 gbytes is taken up by "other" in the apps partition... Its reserved so you can't use it.
