[Q] Using the system dump can anyone confirm if the Skyrocket has the Wolfson DAC - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Using the system dump can anyone confirm if the Skyrocket variant has the Wolfson or Yamaha DAC?
I know the SGS S II has the Yamaha, but given the different chipset in the Skyrocket variant I'm hoping they used the Wolfson DAC. The Wolfson website states that a version on the SII uses their DAC, so I've got my fingers crossed.
If it does i bet supercurio will port voodoo sound.
Thanks in advance.

On the Tmobile gs2 forum it has been confirmed that it doesn't have the Wolfson and the skyrocket is similar

I know your probably right. But I want to have it confirmed by a developer using the system dump or a tear down.
I'm basing my hope on the Wolfson website stating that a version of the SII uses their DAC, and that no previous versions of the SII have been found to have the Wolfson DAC.

Yes I was hoping too. i'm looking for where I saw it.I'll reply the link

And one of the best as well. It was in one of the original ipods. I think the 4th Gen, and it is an amazing DAC. Google it. Lots of love for it.
With voodoo control, the sound is stunning from this phone with good headphones.
I can vouch for this on my epic. Even the stock earbuds sound great. I'm using a pair of high end Sony buds and the sound is amazing. Also, the recorder is top notch too. With hi-q mp3 recorder and the recording setting set to loud environment, I went to a live show and the sound from the video was pretty decent l. I was right next to the guant speakers.

I guess you are still talking about the Wolfson DAC present on the sgs1 and the previous samsung nexus...
But what about the sound quality on this Nexus??
Seems to be, it doesnt have neither the Wolfson nor the Yamaha DAC...
Anyone?

Samsung SHV-E110S Galaxy S II LTE

From what I can see this phone is identical to ours. It's the Korean sgs2 lte and has source code released for ICS on the Samsung open source center.
Could someone maybe confirm this to be true or tell me why I'm dumb.

Not sure, seems like it's a possibility. Need a good old dev to shed some light. Sgh-i777 uses i9100 source for CM9 and AOKP. I'm hoping this would be a similar situation

This guy accidently flashed a skyrocket on his Korean version and it worked minus the buttons.

Hmmm. Well, it does have a 1.5 GHz Dual-core Scorpion CPU and a Qualcomm MSM8660 Snapdragon chipset. This sounds like this could maybe possibly work.
I know you can just get it from Samsung but here it is if anyone wants it:

Voodoo sound control?

Hello! I was just wondering if anyone knows if Supercurio has developed any for the GS3? I LOVED his voodoo sound control app on my sgs1!

No, only the international exynos gs3 has the updated Wolfson microelectronics audio chip that is compatible. The US versions have a yamaha chip. Supercurio stated on twitter awhile ago that VZW's decision to lock the bootloader made him not want to develop anything. Perhaps his opinion had changed now that the device is unlocked?

Where did you learn of the Yamaha substitution over Wolfson in the Verizon (US) galaxy S3? Is it possible for you to provide a link to the information or an image of a spec sheet or of the circuit board? I am trying to find a concrete answer because many pages indicate Wolfson is in Verizon S3 and others say it is not.
Bottom line with the Verizon S3 is the audio is terrible when recording video and I am trying to become informed so that I can find a fix.
Thanks!

The earphones will definitely work....but the mic MAY give problems...though it should work fine as it is compatible with Galaxy S.
Galaxy S i9000 and Galaxy R i9103 are not wired headset compatible. There are two standars for the connections in the jack plug, OMTP and CTIA. Galaxy R is CTIA. Also iPhone btw. If you use the wrong headset you won't head anything good, just a distorted signal, and probably that is not good for the amp.
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/31455
BUT I've seen googling around that actually the EHS64AVFWE is being sold in some places for the i9000 and, in others is advertised as being compatible with the Galaxy S3 i9300, which also follows CTIA.
Yes it works
I know its a bit late to reply here, but in case if someone else need an answer to this...
The EHS64AVFWE headset comes with Galaxy Note which has built in mic with 3 buttons: send/receive, volume up and volume down.
I purchased this headset recently for my Galaxy R and I can confirm that it works 100%

[Q] Audio Quality of Galaxy S4

Hi Guys!
I am planning on buying this when it becomes available in my area (KSA). I need a feedback esp. on those who already have this. What are your thoughts on this as a Music Player? I really enjoyed Galaxy S3, the quality of it's audio chip is superb, and with MegaBeats Mod + SiyahKernel, it even beats my Sony Music Player!
Your responses is highly appreciated.
Thank you very much!
Try to search the Q&A section OP many people have discussed about it there. Just some little info, SGS4 got the current highest end of Wolfson DAC.

Ahh I forgot about that, but the updated GSM arena article shows some great promise and some are speculating whether the S600 version also have Wolfson in it.
Will the 600 sound be awful then?

No it doesn't, i tried the phone the other day in store, and i was blown away by the sound quality, i own a Note 2 with superb sound quality, the Galaxy S4 S600 is much louder and i couldn't tell the difference in clearity.

I covered this before, it has the same qualcomm chip like HTC One.
Though One has beats audio and extra amplifier.

Nope, it doesn't. This is already confirmed by Supercurio via Voodoo Analysis on the 600 model. The GSMArena results have nothing whatsoever to do with Wolfson, the One with the same bundled Qualcomm DAC performs much the same.
Honestly this speaker isnt too great for music. I wasnt blown away. Loudness doesnt mean better. Its similar to the Note 2. Same placement as well. Very loud but kind of loud microphonish
