SMS delay? - HTC Desire S

Hi,
I recently bought my wife a desire s but she has been experiencing alot of issues with a delay when receiving sms. It seems she gets a delay of upto 1-2 hours then will receive alot of texts all in one go.
The phone came with a custom Rom installed but i changed to another but the issue is still present.
Anyone aware of a delay receiving sms? if so anyone know of a fix?
i can give more info on the Rom that is installed if needed when i get home.
Thanks

The thing that could be causing this is when the phone gets "locked" on HSDPA (Whats HSDPA?). I had this problem big time on my HTC Desire (not S, original Desire). I can't really tell you how I solved this problem, and I'm not going to linger on the technical reasons as to why it might have had the problem to begin with as its all theoretical.
But if you want my solution, try updating to one of the many ROMs in the Android Development section. Just to name a few worth using.
Stock with tweaks and enhancements:
[ROM] [21 OCT] Saga3D v3.0 (Desire S official Sense 3.0) - [2.3.5] OTA 2.10.401.5
[ROM][30 OCT 11][Hyperion V2.1|Sense 3.0|GB 2.3.5][Hyperion kernel V1.2|OC|BFS]
Sense 3.5 ports from Runnymede (Sensation XL):
[ROM][28 OCT 11][Endymion V2.1|Sense 3.5|GB 2.3.5][Endymion kernel V1.1|OC|FFC]
[ROM][Nov 6][v3.1][Desire S] BeatMod BlissSense Hybrid| Sense 3.5 | 2.3.5
[ROM][2 NOV] Runnymede S v3.3a [Sensation XL : Sense 3.5 GB 2.3.5][Stock Kernel]

Sadly, a very common glitch with HTC phones and one of the android software updates.
As above, it gets 'stuck' for want of a better word - and while the data connection is fine, all the 2G stuff - texts AND calls, stops getting through.
For mine, rooting and upgrading the stock 2.3.3 ROM to Virtuous Unity which is based on 2.3.5, solved the problem instantly. For weeks before that, I'd been running the phone with data turned off, just so that calls and texts would come through.

[Q] 2.3.4/2.3.5 and Exchange Activesync

Was shocked to find my research before swapping my work iphone to an android handset didnt uncover the Activesync problems (in my case calendar). Seems its a known issue and my 2.3.4 certainly had the problem. So much for my skill in the droid forums!
My Nook on a 2.3.5 ROM works fine, so changed from Chris' Pyramid3D to the 2.3.5 based S3N5EaY on my Sensation and can confirm the activesync is working fine.
My question has anyone else got a 2.3.4 ROM that works fine with exchange AS? Knowing most of the 2.3.5 based ROM's for the sensation are at early stages I'd like to get something stable (will be testing the current one and hoping it's all good).
Thanks!
I've being using ARHD on both 2.3.4 and 2.3.5, not had any issues with Exchange ActiveSync
What issues have you been having?
Just updated to Android v. 2.3.5 comming from 2.3.4 and now I can not get the Exchange ActiveSync to function again.
Exchange working without a problem on LeeDroid 3.1.0

+1 EAS working on CM7, ARHD 3.x.x
Thanks for the confirmations of working ROMs. My issue is the calendar synch fails with socket timeout. I've tried the many suggestions but it be broke for me on 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 based ROM's!
Using CdTDroiD's S3N5EaY ROM and it fixed the issue (based off 2.3.5) so hoping to keep on track with that ROM as it develops.
I've had no issues with stock 2.3.3, 2.3.4 and now with Beast 2.3.5 based ROM I still have no issues with Activesync. Both mail and calendar work perfectly.
It may be the way our servers are set up, but i know many folks have the issues (not just on the sensation its multiple android phones).

looking for a specific rom

Hey guys looking for a specific Rom. I need to have the following:
Sense 3.0 (only because of WiFi calling)
Romanbb tweaks or similar
Stable and fast
Or if anyone knows of a sense 3.5 Rom that has WiFi calling fully functioning that would be great
Thanks
Hi,
i use Sense-O-Maniac Sense 3.5 Rom and it's good for WIFI calling also.
I have 25mbit/s internet and i have 20mbit speed on my HTC Sensation so video calls are not a problem

Ice Cream Sandwich - Insertcoin VS Android Revolution HD

The title says it all. for those of you that Have Ice Cream Sandwich on your Sensation , and you have tried both roms, which one is better?
I havn't tried ICS insertcoin since I updated to hboot to 1.20 and the latest radio.
I do think that makes a big difference to performance though, and at the moment I'm very happy with ARHD 5.02
Virtuous FTW!
ARHD - IMHO Stable and support.
i think it's RCMix Ice, 24 hour, and stable.
lots of different opinions here! I myself have Android Revolution HD but havnt tried any others.
I have InsertCoin, tried also ARHD
Chosed InsertCoin because.. I don't know
Aren't they all based on the same leaked HTC rom with a few minor personal changes?
Aren't all of these ROMs a tuned variant of the HTC Sensation Sense leak?
Aside from obvious kernel / speed mods, each should perform similarly, so when you ask which is better, are you asking what is special or better in each variant?
If I may ask, I'd like to know what percentage of each ROM is 'just right' and what percentage 'needs work' - to assist answering the question.
Is that a helpful way to ask? Which is more of a reliable 'daily driver' that you enjoy and can rely on?
I tried insertcoin, ARHD, Ultimate, RCMix and Elegancia ICS ROM. All felt the same. May be because of base leaked HTC ROM and Sense (look wise). All had problem with Exchange ActiveSync policies and Security settings FC. I am back to insertcoin GB based ROM.
Virtuous Inquisition.
tripnice HTC pyramid. How can a sense ROM be only 117mb? I gotta say he is genius

How does it compare to his AOSP version? I really like the speed of the AOSP but it can't be a daily driver without working mail and mms.

it has a few sense ics problems, the most closest aosp rom available with speed and everything working
I have tried both, and BOTH have the same problems when used in my phone...
"Random reboot", about every 20 mins...
So i am off now to try yet an other rom...
ICS on my Desire HD works rock solid (but without cam), so i am a little suppriced so discover that these more complete sensation roms have those kind of issues...
Right now the phone is on insert coin, and aperrently in a bootloop... :-S
- it have worked for 15 mins up until that point...
TripNice tr001b ASOP:
The ROM is perfect except:
1. GMAIL/FB tiles bug
2. scrolling to slow
3. camera
4. battery percentage missing

none
2 cents & 10 char
ive tried a few i like onceICS the most it has the best battery life but if your looking for something would sense i recommend InsertCoin
aren't they pretty much the same? ICS so new, I dont think ive seen the descriptions under the different roms vary much. What we need is kernel source dam HTC cawcks
I think id rather see an interest poll cause these things tend to cause too much conflict
kernel dev fights, aosp dev fights, too much drama.

That's curious. I've been using ARHD 5.0.2 on a daily basis with no problems whatsoever. I flashed the firmware update too.

[Q] Best Sense 4.0 rom so far?

So now that we have multiple roms based on Sense 4.0, which one is the best for you and why?
As for me I am still waiting the next step for fixes
"Best" is simply not to tell.
What works great is Kings Rom. Tried all 4.0 Sense-Roms til now. Virtuos was the first rom I flashed and a lot of things worked great, but BT with headset didn't work. That seems to work with Kings rom. Also tried Elegancia as I am using Elegancia roms since I rooted and s-off'ed my phone.
Til now all sense 4.0 roms seem to have some difficulties. Mostly animations won't work and on some BT won't do.
Til problems are solved, I'll revert to sense 3.6
Now all based sense 4 are the same and they have same problem.

In terms of speed and stability?
Are same till now ..
If you're looking for speed and stability, don't go with any of them. Even the One S version is for a phone with an S4 processor, we have an S3. Unfortunately, while the S3 is still powerful, the S4 has many improvements from what I hear. Sense 4 roms may never be as fast as 3.6 or AOSP-like roms.
So now we have 3 main roms:
-Baadnewz
-Shnizlon
-Virtuous
I want to choose between Baad beta 10 and Shnizlon 1.6.0
Help!
There can't be no good ROM for now, cause the source for Sense 4.0 just been out for a few days. I'll wait for some more stable versions.
I think after trying all of the Sense 4.0 roms, Virtuous S4X is probably the best.
I am on Baadnewz beta 10 (perhaps upgrading to 12) and I am very happy!
Everything work, fast enough and very little bugs.
Only Rootexplorer is not working as app
BT is not working of course. I wonder if they will make it work one day, it's a BT 4.0 and Sensation is 3.0

That being said, please do remember that the HTC One V also has Sense 4.0.
I have been running Virtuous for the past few days, and there is absolutely no lag anywhere!
There are no nightlies yet for the sensation? i searched but i havent found a single post in the devs area with cm9 , just roms based on it

They're not really working on it yet. The Sensation is in their second wave of devices that they're seriously focusing on.
Team Venom
I've searched this web for quite a while, and the Viper3D is by far the best 4.0 sense ICS out there. I have no issues, and the simple little quirks that it did have are solved. Wonderful daily rom, constant updates with a little humor and I've flashed each and every one of them including the multies. Everything works, tweaks are fabulous, I have no complaints and it has been my daily driver for quite a while and don't see my self changing it.
Anything Virus is included in, I'm following, and with the well established and newly named Venom team? They are setting it off!!!!

SENSE 3.6 or 4.0 ROMS?

EDIT: FOUND MY ANSWER. however...
did some searching and i guess that the WiFi calling issues are due to Tmobile so i guess we'll get working Wifi calling whenever Tmobile releases their update for the sensation :[ which could take up to a month or more (theyve been saying April how long now? 2 months? BS.)
i guess my options would be either revert back to Gingerbread or stock ROMS with functional wifi calling ORRR suck it up until they release the update and devs apply the working wifi calling to their roms eh?
Which sense ROMs out there would you say are the most "complete" as far as less bugs?
Root your Phone
Theres no point waiting for an update that anyway sucks..

About ROMS
for sense 3.6 ROMs...there a are lot of them..ICS 4.0
Android Revolution HD is a complete one with almost no bugs...fully developed..
(Goota select the right kernel...sebastian, faux, bricked...)
insertcoin epic ROM- good one too
elegancia ROM series with awesome animations- which few dont like...
Many more...ARHD Best of them all
For sense 4.0 Roms..
Ordroid is awesome..updated everyday..has few bugs...
Sense 3.6 for now
Been trying a few Sense 4.0 ROMS. Some were very good and stable, some had a few minor issues - as usual fixed very quickly by the rockstar developers.
My personal view, I didn't find a major improvement in my user experience with Sense 4.0. That coupled with the rock stable nature of 3.6 ROMs, I am sticking with 3.6 for now.
Some experiences with Sense 4.0:
1. Noticeable lag when switching back to the home screen. Insert Coin. Not sure if fixed.
2. Camera crash - ordroid but has been fixed.
3. SMS widget was ICS stock - Elegancia - fixed.
Virtuous Eclipse i thought was the best among Sense 4.0 ROMs. No obvious issues.
That said, the day Android Revolution HD comes out with a Sense 4.0 ROM, i switch immediately.
I have the feeling that the Ordroid Rom is no longer close to the original. I would have liked this Rom as much as possible unchanged.
I like Sense 4.0 on Android Revolution HD 6.6.2!
: D
Sense 3.6 ROMs are without a doubt, the most COMPLETE. Sense 4.0 still has bugs, but I hope not for long. However, Sense 4.0 ROMs are known to be faster as Sense has been made lighter.
For a hassle free experience, Sense 3.6 ROMs are perfect currently.
