[Q] 2.3.4/2.3.5 and Exchange Activesync - HTC Sensation

Was shocked to find my research before swapping my work iphone to an android handset didnt uncover the Activesync problems (in my case calendar). Seems its a known issue and my 2.3.4 certainly had the problem. So much for my skill in the droid forums!
My Nook on a 2.3.5 ROM works fine, so changed from Chris' Pyramid3D to the 2.3.5 based S3N5EaY on my Sensation and can confirm the activesync is working fine.
My question has anyone else got a 2.3.4 ROM that works fine with exchange AS? Knowing most of the 2.3.5 based ROM's for the sensation are at early stages I'd like to get something stable (will be testing the current one and hoping it's all good).
Thanks!

I've being using ARHD on both 2.3.4 and 2.3.5, not had any issues with Exchange ActiveSync
What issues have you been having?

Just updated to Android v. 2.3.5 comming from 2.3.4 and now I can not get the Exchange ActiveSync to function again.

Exchange working without a problem on LeeDroid 3.1.0

+1 EAS working on CM7, ARHD 3.x.x

Thanks for the confirmations of working ROMs. My issue is the calendar synch fails with socket timeout. I've tried the many suggestions but it be broke for me on 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 based ROM's!
Using CdTDroiD's S3N5EaY ROM and it fixed the issue (based off 2.3.5) so hoping to keep on track with that ROM as it develops.

I've had no issues with stock 2.3.3, 2.3.4 and now with Beast 2.3.5 based ROM I still have no issues with Activesync. Both mail and calendar work perfectly.

It may be the way our servers are set up, but i know many folks have the issues (not just on the sensation its multiple android phones).

[Q] Will a new ROM solve the late SMS problems with 1.47?

Morning all
I'm one of the unfortunates affected by the problem with 2.3.3 version 1.47. When the phone is connected to a 3G or HSDPA network, all the 2G functions stop working. Well documented, well known, and no sign of a fix until this week when it looks like 2.3.5 and Sense 3.0 are being released.
My DS has been stock until this last week, and I've been running it with mobile data turned off just to make sure that calls and SMS work - which isn't too smart for a smartphone
Since the problem is definitely with 1.47, I was hoping a new ROM would solve the issues. I was recommended CyanogenMod, and thought I'd give it a go. So, I got used Revolutionary, got S-OFF and installed CWM Recovery. Went off to the CyanogenMod website and realised they dont have any stable builds for the Desire S at the moment
So, having had a look around here, and realised there are equally good alternatives, I think I'm going to try Virtuous instead. That's all fine, and I'm quite looking forward to it.
Will it fix the problems though? Anyone?
I don't suffer from this problem. But I can seriously recommend virtuous. It just works perfectly and when I was using it I had no bugs whatsoever
Also I would recommend cyanogen if your not a big fan of sense

[Q] Quick questions regarding rooted Inspire 4g

SO I rooted my wifes Inspire 4g like 4 months ago and didn't do much of anything with it after the fact. No new kernel, no rom cooks or such. All stock other than a few choice root access apps.
She got a notification that their is a new update ( assuming the sense update and such) but she went to accept the update it hung in a godless limbo until she told me what happened and I did a battery pull.
SO the question is, why is this?
Is their a stock newest firmware/rom for the inspire with built in root and maybe an overclocked kernel that I can put on the phone for her. She wants her phone to run like it did out of the box with the HTC widgets but with all the updates.
Can anyone gimme some info........
You don't want to do an over the air update since your phone is not stock. It will break your root and may cause other problems. Turn off software check in menu/about phone, or decline any OTA updates. There are plenty of roms to choose from in the development section. You just need to decide which one you like.
If you're looking for a rom that is close to stock (since you stated your wife wants it to run like it did out of the box), I'll assume she doesn't want sense. Cleardroid was a great rom when I used it, but I like the sense components and have switched to ARHD (see signature). You'll have to check and see if Cleardroid allows for OC/UV and all that stuff.

You're confusing me. ClearDroid has Sense. It is Sense 2.1, but it is Sense. I do believe you were talking about Sense 3.0 or 3.5 (I have not used Android Revolution even though it was the first ROM I downloaded). But I agree that ClearDroid is a great ROM.

Cleardoid is the only Rom left, that I know of, that is still supported and uses the latest htc inspire update as a base(2.47.502.7). And yes it does and always has had sense, just like stock inspire. The only difference in the newer sense roms is the new lock screen and widgets are a little revamped. Other than that it looks just like stock inspire sense. The latest gingerbread update from htc comes with an annoying bug where contacts don't show in your messaging app, just the numbers. You have to tap the number and it takes you to the contact where you have to select a default widget action and that contacts name will show up for that single contact. Once you restart you phone though you have to start back over. I am not sure if cleard has fixed this on the cleardroid Rom. The inspire will probably never be updated past sense 2.1 by htc but there are plenty of custom roms with 3.0 and 3.5. Also the latest gingerbread version from htc is 2.3.3 where customs are at 2.3.4 - 2.3.7.
Honestly though if your wife wants it to run like out of the box I would just install cleardroids latest stable froyo build. The HTC gingerbread update brings better battery life and a quick notifications tab and maybe some other less interesting options, but it has many bugs that I have encountered that I do not like.

RumRunner 3 uses the same base.....jus sayin
Ah yes, my apologies, rumrunner version 3 is 2.47.502.7 as well.
I suppose there are probably some other devs that have used this base in older versions, but I think they have all moved on to newer bases by now.

Ahh my apologies, I tend to not be very clear sometimes..it seems however that everyone beat me to it so like everyone has said..Cleardroid seems to be the best option if you want it to look/run just like it was out of the box. I've used Cleardroid and it was a nice rom, I didn't have any issues but I really like the sense 3 components for some reason so my taste drifts towards those roms...
Thanks all of you. I decided on ARHD for her phone and she is digging it.
Peace

[ICS] Best (most stable) ICS Rom on the web?

Hey guys! Just wondering what experiences you are having with the stock roms and sense based roms? Best features? Most stable? Lag? Bugs? Let me know your opinions!
Keep within the terms of use, and be respectful!
All respect and props given to devs! Thanks a ton and merry Christmas!
Personally, I'm looking for a Rom that will work with titanium backup, any suggestions?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G running Insertcoin by Baadnewz
You should probably wait for the ROM over at MoDaCo to update, the next update has everything working other than BT and Camera with Full hardware acceleration.
Merry Christmas to you too!

I thought everything was already working in 7.7 aside from BT, camera, and HWA?
Yeah Matt you are 100% correct. Everything is working extremely well, the ICS Rom over @ Modaco, created by a Guy named TripNIce is absolutely great. Its definetly possible to use it as a daily rom, if u can live with out the Camera, Hardware Acceleration, and Bluetooth. I would use it if the Camera @ least worked, I don't use it regularly but with the holidays here I already know I'm going to need to snap a quick pic or two. Lol

I've flashed the InsertCoin and ARHD and then removed the sense parts with the no-sense script. InsertCoin ICS is pretty nice but so are most of them I figure since they're all coming from the same place. I'd like a nice CM9 Xmas present myself. Perhaps a Santa-delivered nightly?
There's a cool thread on the developer forum on fixes and enhancements which is really getting good now. Lots of great fixes for things, ways to get AOSP things working.
The current round of ICS and Sense ROMS are a lot of fun to play with. Backups are nice too
webstar1's Ultimite ICS is the most stable no-sense I've tried. It is literally fully fledged AOSP. Most sense ICS rooms are laggy :s I would recommend this one for sure!

Been running the rom from MoDaCo for about 3 weeks. Usable as daily driver for me as I don't use bluetooth and camera ( I have a 5D for that ).
Waiting for new beta update scheduled for tonight.
Virtuous Inquisition v1.2.0 :: Senseless ICS (4.0.1)
I am a noob using HTC Sensation. Installed my first non-stock ROM today..
Am currently running Virtuous Inquisition v1.2.0 :: Senseless ICS (4.0.1) and here is summary of my feedback for this version.
Used ROM Manager to install from SD Card. No hassles and was over in less than 10 minutes.
Really Smooth.
Known lockscreen issue with incoming calls.
Known lockscreen issue with unlock to Camera not working.
Issue with WhatsApp being unstable. Not sure if it is a WhatsApp issue.
By default, mobile data is switched off. (Need to switch ON in Settings/Usage Monitor)
Notification messages blur while going away.
WiFi works great.
I agree with others. HTC contacts and dialer are much better than ICS stock versions. Specifically for contact linking and T9 dialing.
Merry Christmas everyone..
p.s. I just watched the noob XDA Developer video. Awesome.
I've been using ARHD 5.02 for 3 or 4 days now. I ran the no-sense script and love it.
The camera works, not sure about BT since I never use it.
The only bugs that I've noticed are very minor, i.e. FML widget not able to cycle through FML posts. I have to actually open FML to get my daily fix.
Also, Titanium backup isn't playing nice with it, Mike knows about the problem though.
This rom will definitely be my daily driver until I can try out CM9.

Ice Cream Sandwich - Insertcoin VS Android Revolution HD

The title says it all. for those of you that Have Ice Cream Sandwich on your Sensation , and you have tried both roms, which one is better?
I havn't tried ICS insertcoin since I updated to hboot to 1.20 and the latest radio.
I do think that makes a big difference to performance though, and at the moment I'm very happy with ARHD 5.02
Virtuous FTW!
ARHD - IMHO Stable and support.
i think it's RCMix Ice, 24 hour, and stable.
lots of different opinions here! I myself have Android Revolution HD but havnt tried any others.
I have InsertCoin, tried also ARHD
Chosed InsertCoin because.. I don't know
Aren't they all based on the same leaked HTC rom with a few minor personal changes?
Aren't all of these ROMs a tuned variant of the HTC Sensation Sense leak?
Aside from obvious kernel / speed mods, each should perform similarly, so when you ask which is better, are you asking what is special or better in each variant?
If I may ask, I'd like to know what percentage of each ROM is 'just right' and what percentage 'needs work' - to assist answering the question.
Is that a helpful way to ask? Which is more of a reliable 'daily driver' that you enjoy and can rely on?
I tried insertcoin, ARHD, Ultimate, RCMix and Elegancia ICS ROM. All felt the same. May be because of base leaked HTC ROM and Sense (look wise). All had problem with Exchange ActiveSync policies and Security settings FC. I am back to insertcoin GB based ROM.
Virtuous Inquisition.

How does it compare to his AOSP version? I really like the speed of the AOSP but it can't be a daily driver without working mail and mms.

it has a few sense ics problems, the most closest aosp rom available with speed and everything working
I have tried both, and BOTH have the same problems when used in my phone...
"Random reboot", about every 20 mins...
So i am off now to try yet an other rom...
ICS on my Desire HD works rock solid (but without cam), so i am a little suppriced so discover that these more complete sensation roms have those kind of issues...
Right now the phone is on insert coin, and aperrently in a bootloop... :-S
- it have worked for 15 mins up until that point...
TripNice tr001b ASOP:
The ROM is perfect except:
1. GMAIL/FB tiles bug
2. scrolling to slow
3. camera
4. battery percentage missing

none
2 cents & 10 char
ive tried a few i like onceICS the most it has the best battery life but if your looking for something would sense i recommend InsertCoin
aren't they pretty much the same? ICS so new, I dont think ive seen the descriptions under the different roms vary much. What we need is kernel source dam HTC cawcks
I think id rather see an interest poll cause these things tend to cause too much conflict
kernel dev fights, aosp dev fights, too much drama.

That's curious. I've been using ARHD 5.0.2 on a daily basis with no problems whatsoever. I flashed the firmware update too.

[Q] Stock ICS Email in GB

I really like some of the small upgrades to the stock ICS email app (namely, the ability to search!) however I'm not ready to go to ICS yet. There isn't a single version that we have yet that is stable enough for my use. The ones based on the leaks aren't stable enough with WiFi Calling and the AOSP ones have their own issues. So for now I'd like to stay on GB (currently HyperSensation). Anybody know if its possible to backport the ICS email app to a GB based ROM?
insert coin 4.4.x has wifi tehtering and wifi calling working perfect for me at least
i have a tmob sensation
battery is good i havent ran into any issue all camera options work without any problems too
No, all the ucs apps rely on the new framework in ics to work. You can't use ics apps with gb roms.
