I only use it once every two weeks for about five minutes. I really use my phone for just about everything. I'm thinking of getting rid of it.

I have only had mine a week and find myself using it just to use it, even if it isn't the most convenient device at the time. I am a teacher so I will probably sell it and get an ipad because ipads are much better for classroom use. I had hoped my personal use would justify getting the xoom over the ipad, but I just don't think that will be the case with me.

@OP: If you don't use it, sell it. Give someone else a chance to enjoy it.
I have actually experienced the exact opposite. I haven't even turned on my tbolt for three or four weeks.
Everyday use here. Great for work, play, reading the forums, troubleshooting my alienware m9700 high cpu use, movies. I just love it! Now how do I burn dvd's with it?

I don't really use mine out of the fact that I only bought the wifi version. I would sell mine and probably turn around and buy the 4g version so it can be used on the move. It is a great thing to have around, but would love to have the ability to use it anywhere vice at school and home only. As of right now, I use mine once a week...maybe. Back when I bought it, I used it every single day. Developed for it, ported themes and such..then as soon as I got it set to the way I liked it, it just sits there.
If you got wifi tethering on your phone you could use that. It would save you getting a new device. As long as you got your phone you got data.

+1. I tether off my thunderbolt. I rather use that as my network then connect to all the different wifi hotspots available. Home and thunderbolt only to network connects my zoom gets connected to.

My infuse 4g has 2 icons...dialer & tether wifi. I think I might of owned a laptop once, but I haven't seen it in a while....thank you xoom....get a dialer please so we can ditch the infuse too.
Use mine all the time. Would use it more at work if I could get my Thunderbolts hotspot to stop being a pain.

This is the first billing cycle with full on Tbolt-sim-in-Xoom action for me.
With 8 days left I have used 37.698GB (without tethering).
I use my lap top everyday. I bought my xoom because I "wanted" it. I also like to tinker with it. Question....how often do we watch our big screen TV or take it with us?
I use mine as much as possible. I also make sure to get every byte of data I paid for on my plan. I spend too much time at my stupid job to not get everything out of every penny I spend. If I could figure out a way for this sucker to mine bitcoins or something when I am not using it, I would!

Hi Guys...
I have a Thunderbolt now (rooted) that waqs giving me problems I was going from 4g to 3g to 1x and then I wasn't getting any data at all. This started last night....I figured I would wait because it was a network problem
This morning the same thing was happening....I called VZ tech support and they told me before they send me a new phone...I have to go to a VZ store and get a new sim card. I unrooted my phone and went to the store. I got a new sim card and that didn' help. I called back tech support and they said they will send me a new Thunderbolt. I have a family plan and I have 4 phones on my plan (mine is the only smartphone) I asked if I can get a CHARGE...after some back n forth chat...he told me that they will send me a NEW Charge...and also a belt clip and screen protector for no charge....
I love my Thunderbolt...and I know there are pors and cons betwen both phones.....but I really use my Slingbox app alot and I wanted to get the charge because of the screen...so Monday or Tuesday my new charge arrives...
hope I didn't make a mistake not going with the Thunderbolt....thoughts??
I guess I will be in your forums more often now! LOL
I did the same thing. And I'm never looking back. I love my charge. It took about two days to get used to it bc of the plastic feel but now I love it. The phone runs so smooth with the voodoo lagfix and the roms are amazing and very slim. Your battery life is also amazing. Twice as long as Thunderbolt. Be happy you switched as your getting an AMAZING phone

Thanks...I am so skeptical....if I did the right thing.....
Did you root yours???
I may or may not root mine.....I rooted my TB....
I may just wait for the over the air update....I guess I will see when I get the phone
The phone is much better after the latest update that was pushed out. The web browsing (flash content) used to be my biggest compliant. It was so slow and choppy. But now everything is right where it was at when using my old Thunderbolt. I do suggest rooting and custom Rom' ing it. Particularly the voodoo lag fix.

After the latest update the speed is very close between devices. I don't use Touchwiz, any replacement launcher works better. As mentioned, I do have a custom rom on my Charge. I used to use a custom rom on my Thunderbolt as well. (bamf 1.6) I get much better battery life out of the Charge. About three to four hours more. The browser lag was fixed by the last Verizon update. I would recommend the Charge over the Thunderbolt simply because I have had many fewer problems with the Charge and the battery life and the screen are amazing.
My wife has my old Thunderbolt and she emails me pictures that she takes on her Thunderbolt, so she can view them on my screen.
Hope this helps.

Why not get the extended battery?

Hmm. You sound like an Apple fanboy.
Before they sell people Android phones they should make them pass an Android Proficiency Test. That way if they suck at learning about their phones and unleashing its true potential, they can go to Apple and let Steve Jobs rape them four different ways.

that's interesting since I've been rooted since I purchased this phone back in april and although I'm on CM7 with the leankernal running in battsaver mode, my phone doesn't even last all day when i'm on 3g and just texting and using auto-sync for my gmail and facebook.
the battery on this phone is absolute garbage, almost as bad, if not worse than the Eris' battery was.
if you arent getting throug a full day with that setup on 3G then there is more to the problem than the crappy battery.
i can just barely squeeze a day out of my phone on a sense rom and 4G coverage. it is very close, but i can do it if i dont mess with the phone and only use it when i actually need to use it (no fun)
but i just have a 1700ma slim battery, and my stock battery and i am good to go for a full day easily with heavy use.

What's your battery life like? Looks like we both have the same usage but I'm on the stock CM7 kernel and I come home after an 10 hour shift (12 hours off charger) with about 40% battery life left. After I get home I flip on the wifi and surf and play music until the battery dies which is usually an hour or an hour and a half.

So recently i have been getting the static noise(yes i know its been talked about many of times) on my phone on about every other call. I had already had one charge replaced due to the static noise. Since i was getting close to my warranty expiring plus i really couldn't handle the static noise anymore, i decided to give verizon a call. I had only one expectation, to get a charge refurb replacement. What actually happened............they gave me a nexus as a replacement. Yup you read that right!!!! Didnt count as my upgrade, didn't have to pay anything, simple as that!! Its a refurb nexus but still!!!
So i should receive it by friday. I just really want to thank all the devs out there that bring goodness to the charge. Tweakstock is so freaking amazing as well as the ics theme!! You guys rock!!! For now farewell and i might even see some of you guys on the nexus side

I was really nice, explained what i tried to tech 1 support, told them it wasnt going away and just kept chatting with them. I just mentioned i was scared i would get another charge with the same issue and then be stuck since my warranty was running out. Tech support said she can look at other equivalent models. I told her i liked samsung, especially the nexus, she talked to manager and boom i jumped for joy!
Just tell them you have it....trust me the know of the problem.

Never had static issues. Also no data drop issues since EP4/FP1 updates. That's pretty cool that they gave you a nexus as a replacement, but it is 6 months old already, and the SGS3 has been announced, so it's not that surprising. I suppose if you catch the right manager on the right day...

Did you have to pay for your Razr? I've been getting the static squeal about 40% of the time.
They offered me the Razr, but as an upgrade only w/a 2 year extension. I told them to stuff it.
Should I call customer retention?
I am sick of crappy phones. (2 LG Revolutions that bricked themselves while charging overnight, refurb charge that had a self destruction of the micro USB port, and now the charge that thinks it's a fax machine.).
The rep admitted it's a known issue with the Charge.
Would I fare better in a store? If so that means I have to go back to stock FP1, & get rid of Tweaked 2.1 which is running fine.
I want to get this done before the 28th, so I don't lose my unlimited data.

Got the phone a year ago for free from my mom cause VZW messed up her insurance and she got the Thunderbolt for no extra charge.
Charging port started to get really weak and you had to jiggle it around. Well, it completely got smashed in about 2 months ago. Dad has the same phone so he would charge my batteries whenever I was in town, but I usually just used a flip phone for calls and texts and my wife's old Captivate when wifi was around.

I will agree with you. It's all in what Rom you use and how you set it up. If you let everything run like gps and auto sync, the battery will die quickly on any phone, its a given. Sync when you need too and use gps when you need it. Dim the screen when you can and don't overclock a ridiculous amount and you can easily get a day out of it. I haven't had any issue with my tbolt. My .02
You guys are lucky. I keep my screen dimmed, GPS and sync off, underclocked kernel, stick on 3g...
Generally when I leave the house to catch the bus, I'm at 100%. By time I get to work two hours later... 50%.
Granted the phone gets a lot of use during that time. But compared to my droid, droid 2 and even my old blackberry curve... The battery is atrocious.
Granted if I put it in airplane mode it can last a long, long time.
I love this phone... But the battery blows.

I don't use my phone 24/7 because I work 10hr shifts,...but it should last me a day or two on moderate use. I also played with the RAZR Max HD and it was great..defenetly a phone to look into.

Good luck on the 2 days of use....to achieve that, put your screen at the dimmest setting and put airplane mode on.
Honestly man, I'm trying to help you. Everyone wants the new toy. You will not feel any difference from your S3 except the screen. Sense bogs that phone down so hard that the home screen actually has lag.
Top-tier device with lag? No thanks. I played with one last night. My s3 is smoother. If it wasn't, I wouldn't be in here...

See, I disagree because I played with it today for at least 30 minutes. The Verizon rep kept coming to me asking me if I needed an upgrade lol...and I did not notice any lag. I opened Facebook and played a few games that were installed on the phone. I noticed that the phone needs a bit of tweaking with notifications and everything but other than that it was faster than the S3. I like the S3 because of the buttery scrolling but that is due to the scrolling affects. If I do not like sense I will just slap Nova Prime on it and be done with it
I dont know how to live with only 11gb of memory.... 3 nandroid backups... 2 rom zips, some music, some naked pics (of my girl of course) and i would be getting that annoying "insufficient memory" crap..
No thanks. I will stick with my Clean-S3 and 48 gb of memory.

NOOO! Not the DNA!!!
In all seriousness, get the Note2. Very nice step up from the S3. IMHO a 1080 screen is nice, but not worth all the other drawbacks.
You may not see lag at first but once you get all you apps and background services you'll see it lag. Htcs overlay really slows down phones. My s3 on the other hand hasn't slowed down yet even with a ton of apps and services running in the background. Also the s3 will most likely see more updates than the DNA.

Endorsed. The Note 2 is the phone to have right now...
Look at the Dev support for both phones. Nuff said....
Get WHATEVER you like. No card slot would be a dealbreaker for me, but who knows what other people's needs are. I have a 64gb card in my S III and it's almost full... but I also have a Nexus 7 with only 16gb and I deal with the limitations. Cloud storage is the next big thing for mobile devices, and if you're in a solid 4G area and don't have limited data, why not give it a shot.
Sidenote- I finally got to check out a friends Note 2 yesterday. WAY too big of a phone... for me at least... but it's a great device.

I agree, My dad has the note II and its huge....and he has it in an defender otter-box lol every time he bends down to do something his phone falls out of the clip.
I do not need a massive storage because I don't listen to music on my phone..I have a 32g I pod for that. I do take a lot of pictures though so I guess that I would have to transfer them to my PC every once in a while. The phone has more goods than bad but I will look into the lag and if unbearable then I will return it.
Thanks for the replies guys.

fyi - You could use "Sweet Home!" application to automatically send your pics in your gallery to your computer when you get to your HOME network and then you could auto delete it as well, if you want. Super neat app.
If you can get two days out of the DNA then you don't even need a cell phone, lol. If you left it sitting on your desk with no use it wouldn't last 2 days. The screen is nice but personally no SD card, hardly any dev support and a locked boot loader are deal breakers.
Spending 30 minutes in a Verizon store is irrelevant when they're making sure you get a sick WiFi and 4g signal!!
I will make a prediction of your actual usage - 24 hours on battery, 5 minutes of screen time!!
I have a friend who works for HTC and have played with every device they have. Personally I think the battery life on their phones make them useless.
