I was checking the browser but can't find a way to delete the pre installed bookmarks...Is there a way?
Believe when I say I've searched high and low.
The short answer is no, certainly not on stock, even if you have root.

They are built into the framework and display depending on carrier flex settings.

I am attempting to root my sisters captivate and install cm7. How do I get z4root installed onto the phone.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
At the risk of sounding like an ass, if you can't root the phone you sure dont need to try flashing cm7. It's a VERY difficult, multi step process where one tinymistake will soft brick your phone.
You don't need to root first in order to flash different roms.
Also, are you sure your sister wants cm7? She'll lose divx playback, 720p, hardware noise cancellation, and some other samsung specific things..

You don't sound like an ass I get that part. I am just unfamiliar with how to get it rooted easily I would've been doing it at her place away from my computer and was hoping there was a easy one click way to root her phone. I am familiar enough with android to flash the rom. Just not with the stupid att no side loafing apps policy

Thank you for that ill make sure she knows that before I proceed. Buy she barely uses the phone for much more than calling texting and Facebook

If that's the case, I'd probably just stick to one of the 2.2 roms in the dev section here. Calls will sound better with Cog 4.3, simply because of the hardware noise cancellation. They also include the Swype keyboard by default, which CM7 does not.
Has anyone noticed that the stock G2x comes with some LogMeIn packages(com.logmein.rescue and com.logmein.rescuesecurity) already installed? Anyone know what they are there for? I've yet to see anywhere that I could make use of them, which makes me wonder if they're there for LG or other companies to gain access for whatever reason.

So why is it on my phone with no app in the app drawer associated with it? I don't like the sound of it...
Might be draining some battery as well

Okay, so T-Mobile is including Logmein Rescue so they can access your machine for support. Personally, I backed it up and deleted it with Titanium Backup. No need for that crap. Everything is working fine.
The two apps are:
com.logmein.rescue 6.3.246
com.logmein.rescuesecurity 6.3.246
Thanks, I just froze them using titanium backup.

I removed them the first day I got the phone. Just use Root Explorer to delete them. I didn't like the sound of it either.
There is a thread about which apps you can delete, like the Tmobile crap, EA Store, games, etc. I posted what the app name was compared to the store and what I deleted without any recourse.
I removed a dozen probably.
I've had my phone for almost 2 weeks now.
First Android and touchscreen phone ever owned.
I have a few questions:
1) How do I clear only certain calls from my call history? I only see the option to clear all call history. On my old phone (Nokia N82) I was able to erase only certain calls made (for example, the last number dialed).
2) How do I lock my screen? Right now it autolocks on its own after a certain period of time. I want to lock it own my own like I could do on all my old phones.
3) What is the best FREE forum posting app out there?
Also, I tried to root my phone last weekend, but something went wrong and for a second I thought I had bricked my phone.
Thankfully, everything is okay but I do not plan to try it again for obvious reasons.

1. Hold the number and it will ask if you want to clear it.
2. Top left of the phone the button click it once and it will lock the phone.

Can you also recommend a good FREE forum posting app?
I know there's Tapatalk, but it's not free.
1)when you go in to your call history just long press the number you want to delete and choose delete form call history
2) One suggestion is go to settings>security and change the lock time to immediate
Hope this helps
Rooting can be a scary thing but i just recommend reading up as much as you can, until you feel comfortable again. then try the Ace hack Kit. it what what i used and it was super simple.

It's under maintenance. If you use either the xda app or Tapatalk you will notice that the "participated" function isn't working either. The two issues are related.
That's understandable, however there is still a search function available. Even in the app, so I don't understand what all the fuss is about.

Hmmmmm. It disappears the same time the search button does! Methinks they might be related.

I have a old Nexus s 4g from sprint that I was thinking about turning into a smart MP3 player and totally removing the phone abilities and giving it to my son. Anybody know a easy way of doing this? ROM ideas?
Thanks

You have to be rooted to remove system apps...
Yep, the last three phones have been rooted day 1 of each. I just would have thought more needed to be done than just uninstalling the phone apps.
I heard Voodoo sound can improve the sound quality, might try to install it.
