Try to wipe battery stats at 100% and get through at least two charge cycles, it helped in my case
personally , stock ROM has longest battery life
I´m running MV Nexus Rom with matrix 10.5... Using 1320/440... Deep idle enabled and max freq when screen off enabled and it´s giving an awesome battery life... I´m using a TMo Nexus S

Honestly I'm not sure what deep idle is.. I'm working on a friends phone.. I have a charge. I didn't know smartass was an option.. But I'll def hit that up.. So how do I enable deep idle? And how would raising min clock speed save battery life? jw?

Pretty simple. What is the best rom with battery life for this phone? I rooted my girlfriend's phone and right now she's running cyanogenmod. Battery life doesn't seem that great though. Any suggestions on something to try out?

Also recalibrate your battery using battery left from the market.
Thanks. I'm an idiot. I meant to ask this for the evo 4g supersonic. I posted in the wrong section.

What battery saving apps do any of you recommend. I don't think I'm getting as good a battery life as I'm hearing others get. My battery usage stats say android system is using way too much......about 40 percent sometimes.

Or setcpu

Do these require specific kernels to work?

Yes , not all kernels allow change voltages

Voltage adjustment is not really necessary, unless you are increasing voltages for overclocking.

Uhh, no. I suggest you read up on the findings/observations documented by multiple kernel developers and bedalus's kernel testing posted here. UV has no effect on power consumption.

Well I tested it on my friends nexus s 4g and my epic 4g and with a lot of UVing. Lemme further explain.
Okay when you UV it just uses less amount of voltage on that frequency so in essence you save battery because not as much voltage is being used. Now however if you UV by a lot like -100mV and higher the phone will lagg a bit. If you overvolt your pushing more voltage to the phone which is more power being used.
I just tested my phone freqs. Used were 100,200,400,600,800,1000 And all were UVed by -100mV and playing games and using lower freqs it will lagg. When I didn't UV at all it never lagged.
Not to mention BTW I was @ 88% before and it only took me 2 mins to post this and now I'm at 86% with no UV at all. And last post before this I took me same time with UVed I went from 95% to 95% lol.

Well I can say every phone is a tad bit diff. But for whatever reason no matter who's phone when I UV if the phone handles it it. It saves me battery I want you to test this and see.
Run whatever scheduler and say performance run 100 MHz by -200mV like and 200 Mhz by -150mV and so forth. Play GtA 3 and watch when UVed it laggs and when Not it laggs stillbut not as bad. I mean hell even 1.5GHz no UV I still lagg haha

Wiping your battery stats will get you nowhere, their wiped each time the device charges to 100%. Also the oem battery sucks look into an Anker so you have multiple small batteries rather than one huge one.

I've been getting really good battery life with the gold 2450 mAh battery people have been posting about on the accessories thread... Phone will last over 18 hrs of HEAVY use and over 24 of moderate to light use and today it came off the charger at 3 pm, talked from 3:45 to 4:50 and texted off and on the rest of my shift and it has 68% left on virtuous infinity alpha 2 with V6 supercharger running. Mostly 2G with no wifi up, bluetooth on all day.

Sent from my myTouch 4G Slide using xda premium
Yeah V6 Supercharger... Link can be found in the MikXE OP on the dev forums or you can search it. It isn't strictly necessary on this phone as compared to my G1 (lol!) BUT it definitely helps keep things running smoothly.
Oh yeah and in response to your original question - if your rom supports overclockng/underclocking you can either modify the settings via developer options (on most aosp roms) or get a third party app such as setcpu or antutu cpu master (i use rom toolbox) to control the minimum and max processor speeds. Mine is set at 192 min and 1512 max with the governor set to on demand and it runs fine. Deep sleep can get a bit... Deep... At times and not wanna wake up but for my battery life it's a small price to pay.

I've never really seemed to get much of a battery life difference over or underclocked. I do set the min clock all the way down to 192.
I use the big 3500 Hyperion. I'm a heavy web user...it gets me through the day.
Cm9 definitely seems to extend my life vs. Sense roms. But that's perceptive. I can't prove it.

I can lmao same exact usage the other day on cm9 got me 1 day 15 hours with 4+ hours screen on time playing the Oregon Settler with my Anker before going to 15%. Today I'm at 3 hours screen on and 12 hours on battery and I'm at 33% on MikXE so yeah AOSP def less strain on the phone, but Sense is SO PRETTY lol

That is like running your car's engine at 6000rpm everywhere you go and when you park it. Sure it can do it, but how long will the engine last and how long can your gas tank hold out. By allowing the governor to regulate speeds the phone gets to use the cpu horsepower much more reasonably and allows the phone to use much less cpu power (sleep)when it isn't being utilized. I set mine at 192 min 1516 max and the governor to on-demand (depending on what profiles are available).
1.7 didn't ever do much for me other than make the phone hot and slightly crabby. 1.5 runs cooler, more stable (noticeably so), and with better battery life. 1.2 works just fine as well.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement
