I've been wanting to get a WP7 for a while now. I recently saw the LG Quantum (no contract) for $225 from Newegg. Really tempted to pull the trigger now but with Mango being released and perhaps some new devices coming out soon am I better off waiting?
I'm still trying to decide on what OS to switch to on my primary phone. Since I needed a couple of back-up/emergency/car phones, I figured instead of buying a $50 dumbphone, I might as well use the opportunity to test drive Android and WP7. Already got an Android (LG Thrive, $150 Amazon). Now all I need is a WP7 one.
P.S.
Buying a phone from Amazon or Newegg only and $250 total (inclusive of 10% tax and ship) is my upper limit on device price.
There are rumors that at least Samsung and HTC are planning WP7-related events on September 1st, which could mean new phones will be announced. Nevertheless, the current phones are a fantastic value, and if you get Mango on them, what could you possibly miss?
To me WP7 phones are really cheap at the moment. I mean 200 for Omnia 7, thats a great piece of HW at a great price!
Unfortunately I couldnt live without a kb so I had to get the Htc 7 Pro, but that was only 280 even though I didnt search much for best deals, just wanted the phone fast.
Of course prices are probably so down because they are not selling...
my advice is: buy yourself an omnia 7 or focus its a beautiful piece of hardware you wont make a mistake!
Thanks for all the replies. Alas, my tech fund got raided with the purchase of 2 HP TouchPad's this weekend so looks like I'm going to have to wait. I was watching the Nokia Sea Ray leak on YouTube and it looks to be a really nice phone. Methinks I'll wait a bit until new devices pre-installed with Mango get released. I should have my tech fund replenished in another couple of months or so.
I was wondering if there are any 4G WP7 devices to be soon released on sprint.
There will be Noka See Rey with Windows Phone 7, but i'm not sure if it will has 4g.
I have my upgrade rebate available in October. I am currently enjoying my View tablet so I thought I might try something different for my phone. Prior to android I used a WM device and I enjoyed it. I also had a zune hd so that part of the WP7 is not unfamiliar to me. I had thought about giving the new WP7 a try but I really need the 4G. Well hopefully they have something they have been keeping under wraps.

Hey...well im Egyptian too. good to see u here, this phone is great, only few unfortunate customers got buggy devices, just make ur mind up, if u want better looks and camera go for neo v . im using this phone from around 6 months and i have no problem till yet...and im happy with it, only problem is the battery drain...Salaam
gt i9003 is a mid to high end phone with a good price tag (costs a bit less than galaxy ace in some stores!) and it a good phone for normal everday usage. The battery life is great, the battery can last for 3 days if you are normal user, mine is celebrating its 4th day
Its very worth its price, only if you are unfortunate and get a buggy device. Normally 1 change of the motherboard and it'll be alright
Cheers

This phone is definitely worth buying especially now our development community has grown so much recently
i recommend the 9000
it has a much bigger community and therefore more roms
from what i heard a working ics rom too
depends on the price you pay!
If its under 300 US$ (without contract, of course), its worth every penny!
If its above this pricetag, i wouldnt bother with it since its a rather old device with not much developer support

well we can't say that its grown bec. dev's come and go mainly bec. not much people have this device compared to the galaxy S and S2 but there is progress on custom roms on this device. But it all goes down to how much you want to pay. For me it's definitely worth every damn cent.

I think it´s a great phone to buy.
It works well, I like the battery capacitiy (mine lasts between 1,5 or 2 days.), you can install lots of roms and updates easily.
Its a pretty good phone , good for the price too. i bought it to get into Android and i fell in love with the OS , i always hated Apple and their products so Android came to the rescue.. Samsung support for this model however sucks but the community is always building custom roms and fixing things up so its pretty well worth it..
As a former iphone owner and current galaxy S3 owner. Wondering how often android users buy or switch devices?
As we know with Apple we only update every two years. Seems like androids have a new king every few months. So how often for everyone?
I usually change on a year, Last year I had a Galaxy mini, Today I have Galaxy Gio
I think I will buy Galaxy S2 in next year
I change whenever I feel like my phone is starting to suck. I started using Android late in the game, so my transitions went like this.
Got first Android, 7 months later gets a better one, and I recently bought my third main phone after about 1 and a half months of using my second.
So I changed rapidly last time, but my first to second transition took more than half a year

I just change my phones whenever I see a new one that I want, which is significantly better than my previous one.
Last year I had an X10 mini pro for about 5 months until the Xperia S came out. I've still got the Xperia S now but I got an S2 last month aswell. I probably won't upgrade until a new OS comes out, considering both of my phones will be getting JB.

I keep mine longer than most apparently.

I am still using my Motorola Droid 2 that I have had for over a year and a half. It still does everything I need it to do. In my opinion, the question will be whether or not you feel the need to always have the latest and greatest gadget. I don't, obviously. LOL.
There will always be newer, nicer phones coming out than the one you have, especially since there are multiple manufacturers battling for your Android business, and I'm just not inclined to try to keep up.
2-3 years for me ... Using HTC One X with ARHD 9.3.1 haha won't change that fast XD
i only buy the new phone only until the now-using phone is broken, or i will never drop it away.
Usually every 2 years when my phone contract expires.
So it costs me a new device (like S3) a copayment about 50 € .... thats OK.
2-3 years for me :good:
Every year. I have it down to a science. Get first phone at a discount on contract. Wait a year and sell that phone for $200-$300. Come out of pocket $200 for a new phone. Wait another year and get another phone on contract. No point in me going to prepaid...I get such good discounts on T-mobile that it is completely worth me keeping my contract.
I got my first phone in 1998 and since then I'm on my 11th phone. 11 phones in 14 years. I'll try to use this atleast for 2 years. But you never know.

As long as I have money enough to buy a new one
A year and a half at the very least. And depends on new phones that I might like.
Late 2010 I bought my first phone (Satio & it's Symbian) due to some short circuit around August 2011, I decided to get a new one which is Galaxy S Plus that I've been using since September 2011 till now.

Nexus one
Trying to change my phone now but dont see my galaxy nexus dying anytime soon it still runs ics smooth as butter
I only change phones whenever my current phone gets broken or stolen. Otherwise, I have no reason to change it.
About once a year just to keep up with the latest tech and not get bored of a phone.
Hopefully the next HTC flagship / Nexus
1ST OG Droid

3rd thunderbolt
4th incredible 2
5th Rezound
6th charge
Three of which have been repurposed as home modem, work modem, and 2 damn fresh Mp3 players.
Rezound is what I use for carry everywhere...and until it disintegrates or a four core , 2 gig Ram, no bigger than the thunderbolt comes out....Rezound it will be.
}}} my BUSINESS with Nils P was a REZOUNDing success on the ICS....uhmm 2.3 {{{
I buy 400$ phones every year sometimes 2 years

You will need an external unlocking service, such as popping round to a local unlocking shop or using a service like https://unlockcode4u.com/unlock-Samsung/Galaxy-Ace-2-I8160.htm - I've never tried it so be careful. o2 had a great deal but for a black version, for like £130 or something for Christmas.
I bought my Ace 2 at Phones4U before Christmas for 130 quid. It's unlocked and I had the choice between black or white. Not sure what the current price is but you might want to ask.
thank you for replying.
My b'day is coming up early february and i was thinking about buying the ace 2 (white) for 160.00 plus 10 credit = 170.00
is this worth it or shall i wait? although im desperate for a smarphone right now.
i cant believe phones 4 u were sellin at 130 pounds...why is the price so high now?!

if you really can't wait ace2 is worth is because of the fact that it has a dual core prossecor, plus it is gettin jb soon. Now I don't know about your currency but in Greece it was on a really low price for a while so I grabbed it.Although if u think it's expensive and you can wait I read that another mid-range phone which has close specs to ace2 is being released soon so ye.
you could try your local CEX (Entertainment exchange) and see wha they've got, just before christmas they had several phones for under £120 that i preferred but my partner made me buy an ACE 2, im not complaining but i spent £180 on the ace 2 black and could have had a nexus S or xperia play for less and they were unlocked. the Ace 2 i bought from EE shop (orange/tmobile) is locked to one of these 3 networks.
If you really are set on an Ace 2 try CEX's site obviously you can then limit the search to the store closest to you.
According to this http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sam...-go-upgrade-unlocked-phones4u-instore-1458341 the Ace 2 is £109.95 at Phones4U at the moment.
Hello there. I've been considering these days to buy this device but lately I'm getting really discouraged to do so. I watched at least a dozen videos about the j and at least as many reviews. A couple of them praise the device for its display and okay performance for this price but most of the reviews are strongly negative and some even advise not to buy it at all. My mobile carrier offers me to buy Xperia J with a 2-year contract for 6 euro mothly without changing my plan. Is it a deal or I should reconsider it? I'm ot a tight budget and the only other option for this price range is Galaxy ace plus but I don't think I'll manage to live with its awful resolution.
Any opinions? Thanks
Better pick j over ace plus with its 2.3.6. Sure, theres negative reviews. But that will once you mod the phone. Bigger screen resolution always win over cheap smaller ones.

well if you're not the "hardcore mobile gamer type" and would just normally use the phone for call/text/internet/music plus some few movies then xperia j might be for you..forget galaxy ace plus...
I hate galaxys i bought an ace s5830i and the digitizer cracked very easily samsungs build quality is very poor even on there more reasont models ebay is full of wrecked galaxys the j is not that bad especialy for the price after a few mods it is very easy to live with. a duel core dose not mean better performance my partner has an xperia u and it is really bad worse than a stock j the screen redraws take a life time opening an app i even longer and multitasking forget about it lol.

A lot of online reviews are for the older ICS version of Xperia J which wasn't great.
If your just using the phone, messaging, facebook, twitter etc.. It's fine and smooth as butter with the current Jelly Bean release.
If your into photo's, movies, netflix, gaming, then it's definitely not the phone for you.
dont go for ACE coz there will be a problem later on with its physical memory saying its full and u might not be able to install apps.. Xperia J just think about it.. i would rather buy Xperia L its kinda close to the budget !!!
Hey thanks for the answers. I really appreciate it
It will be my first mobile phone with Android so I really don't know what to expect exactly. I'll be using it for music, web-browsing, reading documents and snap a photo here or there. I am not a heavy gamer at all but I find it rather disappointing I won't be able to watch HD videos :/
I also read comments that with the new update most of the lag got fixed and it's more stable now.

L was just introduced to the market where I live at (Bulgaria) and the price is kinda high - 260 euros without contract. The problem is that I want to buy a phone from my carrier with leasing and their catalogue is very poor in terms of device choice. For the money J was the only reasonable phone I could pick out.
I could wait for Sony to release their Xperia M that was introduced a few hours ago because it has everything I could ask for. But I am in real need of a phone right now. I can wait but I've been waiting for moths already.
I still haven't decided firmly but if I don't reconsider my choice I'll be buying the J this Thursday
if that's the case then go for it !!!
