[Q] What new phones are coming out? - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been wanting to get a WP7 for a while now. I recently saw the LG Quantum (no contract) for $225 from Newegg. Really tempted to pull the trigger now but with Mango being released and perhaps some new devices coming out soon am I better off waiting?
I'm still trying to decide on what OS to switch to on my primary phone. Since I needed a couple of back-up/emergency/car phones, I figured instead of buying a $50 dumbphone, I might as well use the opportunity to test drive Android and WP7. Already got an Android (LG Thrive, $150 Amazon). Now all I need is a WP7 one.
P.S.
Buying a phone from Amazon or Newegg only and $250 total (inclusive of 10% tax and ship) is my upper limit on device price.

There are rumors that at least Samsung and HTC are planning WP7-related events on September 1st, which could mean new phones will be announced. Nevertheless, the current phones are a fantastic value, and if you get Mango on them, what could you possibly miss?

To me WP7 phones are really cheap at the moment. I mean 200 for Omnia 7, thats a great piece of HW at a great price!
Unfortunately I couldnt live without a kb so I had to get the Htc 7 Pro, but that was only 280 even though I didnt search much for best deals, just wanted the phone fast.
Of course prices are probably so down because they are not selling...

my advice is: buy yourself an omnia 7 or focus its a beautiful piece of hardware you wont make a mistake!

Thanks for all the replies. Alas, my tech fund got raided with the purchase of 2 HP TouchPad's this weekend so looks like I'm going to have to wait. I was watching the Nokia Sea Ray leak on YouTube and it looks to be a really nice phone. Methinks I'll wait a bit until new devices pre-installed with Mango get released. I should have my tech fund replenished in another couple of months or so.

I was wondering if there are any 4G WP7 devices to be soon released on sprint.

There will be Noka See Rey with Windows Phone 7, but i'm not sure if it will has 4g.

I have my upgrade rebate available in October. I am currently enjoying my View tablet so I thought I might try something different for my phone. Prior to android I used a WM device and I enjoyed it. I also had a zune hd so that part of the WP7 is not unfamiliar to me. I had thought about giving the new WP7 a try but I really need the 4G. Well hopefully they have something they have been keeping under wraps.

[Q] Is there a "cheap" WP7 phone out there?

So, I'm looking to get a wp7 phone, strictly for the xbox live games/integration. I already have a phone that I love, but I happen to be a bit of an xbox achievement whore, and it'd be cool to be able to play games on a handheld that count for gamerscore (I know, I'm pathetic). Obviously, I don't need a contract with a carrier for this, since I won't be using the phone as a phone. I plan on just using it on wifi.
Unfortunately, I don't know much about wp7 phones at all, so I'm hoping you guys can point me in the right direction of a "cheap" (prefereable < $100) handset that will run games halfway decently.
Thanks in advance!
Im in the same situation, though im trying to replace a zunehd.
I looked around, and it seems like the LG quantum is the cheapest, so far.
Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk
there is no phone where you can play games decently as all windows phones have a minimum hardware requirements..Almost all windows phones are compatible with the apps and games available in the marketplace. The best and the cheapest option available according to me is Samsung focus SGH-i917 you should get a good used phone for arnd $150 ..LG quantum is also good and cheaper than focus..you should get that for around 120-130 USD..

You have Verizon wireless according to your profile. You have only one choice.
The HTC Trophy. Not a bad little phone but, if your a heavy gamer like I am, it's not really fully designed for that. I have one. Games run fine on it and Mango games run even better (60fps, noticable difference).
Note, besides bigger screens, storage memory or QWERTY keyboards, every first gen WP7 device specs are the same.
The HTC Trophy is $49.99 with a 2 year, and you can get one Non-Contract price for about $400 (ebay $250-400 new/used).
How's that for cheap ?
Also to note, if you wanted to use a WP7 device after playing with it as your phone with your carrier, the Verizon HTC Trophy (Spark_W) is really your only option.
Well, since you are not looking to use it for phone, I recommend you get the LG Quantum. You can get brand new unsubsidized one for $200.
Thanks everybody for the info. I don't think $200 is worth it to me for a few achievement points at the moment. Maybe I'll try to find a Quantum on Craig's list or something. Thanks again!

Are there people on this site who would only upgrade when their device dies?

A decade or two ago I remembered the only time people upgraded were when their device became non-functional. However these days it seems to me that it is norm to change devices every time a newer version comes out. And this form of consumerism is most pronounced in the mobile phone community. Partly because the mobile phone technology evolves faster than other technology.
I wonder how many people still use their until it dies or at least have a upgrade plan (eg I upgrade phone every 3 years, laptop every 4 years, DSLR every 6 years).
I used to upgrade approx every 1.5 - 2 years when I had a dumbphone My first "smartishphone" was the Nokia e70 that still works and I keep it for backup. I then bought an Xperia X1which I used until it died, although about 6 months prior to battery spazzing out I used it as a work phone as I purchased a HD2 for private use. When it died I used a combo of my e70 and HD2. Then last year in November (I think) I then purchased a EVO 3d which I now use as my personal phone and my HD2 as my work phone, the e70 went back in the drawer for when I need it next.
Cool story huh bro? So I guess the moral of it is that I upgrade whenever I cant fight the itch anymore and I never get rid of my old phones even if they are broken.
I upgraded from a dumbphone to my first smartphone: Nokia E72, but I hated the OS when I saw what Android could do, so I bought a SGS. Which I am willing to use till it dies because of the many ROMS and stuff still being made for it.
I only upgrade when my contract is up. It is a 24 month contract so that is when I will upgrade.
For me it is important to get good hardware at the time of purchase and make sure you can load the latest software on top, because at the end of the day what makes the device tick is the software it has inside it... Thank god for XDA community of hackers
I'm using a like 5 year old deskop running vista. I am going to upgrade that once windows 8 comes out.
I have a transformer that i see no reason to upgrade.
MY first phone was an iPhone 3G and i had that for a year till iOS 4 came and totally killed it. Then I upgraded to an iPhone 4 right after they came out in Canada.
Now this month I am upgrading to a Galaxy Nexus because, well the iphones still good, put siri on it and it does what I want to it but i am just sick and tires of iOS and really want something different.
Point and shoots only get replaced when they are destroyed and TV's only get replaced once they stop working
I'm not a big upgrade-a-holic i let my stuff live a good life and i'm upgrading my my iPhone because I still have 18 months on contract and I do not see me using it for another 18 months... and the sooner i get this one the cheaper my next one will be
I go through a ridiculous amount of phones, 5 last year.
I'd upgrade today from my EVO 3d if the HTC edge was out now I love HTC
sent from a galaxy far far away where I actually understand the mods I do to my phone thank fu*k for devs
i may not always wait for it to die, but i'll go a good amount of time with a phone till I like another one, I had a few nokia phones for years, they were just solid
i hate upgrading simply cuz of the fact that you have to extend your contract. i recently got my htc vivid.. and im planning to stick to it until it dies.
Prior to switching over to WP7, I used to "upgrade" my android device weekly or bi-weekly. I was a Craigslist fiend and owned 67 phones in two years.
While I now own all WP7 devices, my daily driver for 9 months was the Dell Venue Pro and is now the Nokia Lumia 800. With WP7 you get high quality regardless of device so the need for frequent updates is kaput.

This is what I do. I upgrade as soon as AT&T will let me. I hate to extend the contract, but I don't see giving up a cell phone anytime soon, I haven't had a land line for years, so if I upgrade early it is like cutting some time off my contract. On a family plan, paying more than $100 a month they used to let you upgrade the primary line every 12 months (so people could buy each iPhone I think), but that ended this year. So I upgraded to the SGS II, the best device at the time, and still, and it should hold me over until may 2013 when I qualify again. By that time I hope to have LTE in my area too, so I will be able to get a second or third gen LTE phone on AT&T. If something really tickles me before then, I might try the 3 warranty replacement trick to upgrade early, but it'd have to be really good to beat the SGS II.

I pick a time to upgrade my stuff. I aim for about 3 to 4 years out a desktop, but I will go for top of the range CPU, and add more RAM 9 months after getting it... So i7 2600K right now, and 12 GB RAM. That will see me through to 2014/2015 I hope.
Phone, I will see how it goes. I kept my hero from 18 months of date of purchase, but it was pretty diabolical performance-wise after 9 to 12 months, as other devices raced on. My SGS2 is now 8 months old, I think, yet is probably still the fastest all-round device on the market. So I am looking for AT LEAST 2 years out it, perhaps 2.5 or 3...
I only get a new phone when my old one breaks...I would still be on my droidx if the battery hadn't gone to mush and exploded. Now I can only get to the stock recovery.
But it was too early for an upgrade, but once I was on the phone with verizon for awhile and explained what happened they gave me an early upgrade.

^^ Pretty much this for me too...
The HD7 was the first step to breaking the addiction, and now im planning on keeping my newly acquired HTC TITAN till third gen WP7 phones release. Seriously, the saturation of Android phones are bad for guys like me that like to always be up to date or have the newest thing. No more, WP7 is garanteed support and updates for at least 2 years so I dont have to worry anymore. Plus its great to get away from the Rom addiction and just enjoy the damn phone lol

I would need a very compelling reason to upgrade. My phone dying would be one such reason. The only other would be a new device that ticks all the right boxes for me, and currently the phone i have is the only one that does that.
Carrier upgrades are a no go for me as Vodafone are awful for locking down, branding and delaying updates, even on Nexus devices which should get their updates directly from Google.
Only update when there is something worth updating to. My last phone was the HD2 then went to the captivate but traded it for.the Inspire which is what I had wanted but it hadn't hit yet. Now I will wait for a decent HTC phone to come out that is not just a minor hardware change. Maybe the quadcore will be enuff to make me update but too soon to tell. Inspire still does what I need it to and is fast as hell for me
I've only ever owned 3 smartphones. My first was the iPhone 3GS when it was first released I had it for 1 year and 3 months until it started playing up. I bought the phone outright biggest waste cost me 1G with the Apple care for 2 years. Apple then replaced the phone with a brand new one so I never opened it and sold it on Ebay for $600. I then bought my Desire HD had it for 6 or so months and I couldn't resist the Sensation XE when it was announced so I sold my Desire HD for $322 and bought the Sensation XE for $560 about 3 months ago and I'll have this phone until it dies.
Using my 10 years old pc with windows xp and using till it dies and I change phone when earler dies but I had SE w810 since 2007 and it still works but I wanted something new and small so bought this one and I think I will use it until 2013 summer when contract ends or until his end dont see purpose of spending money on high end phones its better to have psp or psv and small android for everyday using because every day theres new better android on sale but psp will stick few years unchanged and with same performance ofcourse maybe you have lot of money to spend it

It all depends on the device, but phones in my house have the shortest upgrade cycle (24-36 months) while laptops and desktops can generally be refreshed with upgraded hardware halfway through their lifecycle lasting 4-5 years.
Tablets look like they are going to age fast...

Worth it?

Hey guys, so i have been wanting to try out WP7 for a while, i have an opportunity to snag up an arrive on contract. since im on sprint there doesnt seem to be much going on in the WP7 area. id love to have a titan 2 like device or even one i know is going to get the latest versions, however that doesnt appear to be sprints concern.
anyways long story short is it worthwhile for me to put my epic 4g touch off to the side for while and snag the arrive and give it a run for its money? or should i hope that some day sprint brings another windows phone out? (preferably with a bigger screen)
I really like my arrive, WP7 is a great OS, but please do keep in mind that this device is getting long in the tooth. The arrive was brought to sprint over a year ago.
The DFT rom is great and enables internet sharing.
I'd only go for it now if you are enamored with the idea of a hardware keyboard. Otherwise, I'd wait until the summer to see if sprint brings a Nokia WP in.
http://www.sprintfeed.com/2012/03/sprint-developing-lte-windows-phone-with-fall-release-in-mind/
Sprint apparently has a new windows phone in the pipeline but it wont be until the fall, I havent seen any other rumored windows phones for sprint. I love windows phone and the arrive for the most part suits my needs but there is definitely some apps missing when compared to iPhone and Android.
Hope that helps.
I switched to Sprint and grabbed the Arrive when it came out ($50 on contract at the time). I love the phone and love the OS, but I'd hold off because I expect Sprint to feel the Nokia love before the end of the year.
The two gripes I have about the Arrive is that it's only 3G and I don't even have the option for ICS (sans custom ROMs which I'm waiting for those to shake out a little more before I take that plunge). Those aren't major gripes, just the two biggest issues I have with the phone. If you don't just totally hate your phone, I'd stick with it (or look at getting an Arrive from someone who didn't like it and is selling it used). Save your upgrade for the Nokia and I think you'll enjoy it even more.
yea after a bit of searching and deciding on it all im gunna try and pick up an arrive on teh cheap and us eteh upgrade on the new one...
sadly they still want 50 dollars on contract for this phone :/ which is teh same amount as the photon which is less then 10 moinths old

I have had my Epic 4g since launch and after trying Win 8 Preview I wanted to try WP7. I went to a sprint store and tried the Arrive and I liked it. So, I found a refurbished Arrive on ebay to try out for $150 shipped. I'm up for an upgrade. But, I know the flagship phones are coming out at the end of the year and I will save it for that. Have you thought about buying an off contract phone and waitng for the phone you really want?
fwiw you can get the arrive for free on contract from wirefly
I just got this phone due to a finally dead TP2. Rest in Peace TP2. I will miss you so very much.
I really don't know why this device isn't more popular. The keyboard is basically the same as TP2, (best ever), and the phone is lightning quick. It's made very user friendly. Slide to what you want and the learning curve is almost non existent. To each their own I suppose, but for me, I will be happy with this device.
i was waiting for a GREAT wp7 on sprint but couldn't wait any longer. Picked up a used arrive today for fairly cheap and man I'm loving it so far. It's so fast compared to my ancient tp2. I've already downgraded spl, rspl/hspl, and flashed dft gold_c v1. Great rom so far. I'm loving ie9.
I agree to others that it is not really worth the contract for this because of it's age, but I still love this phone a lot. Of course I didn't have a chance to try an android phone(or native android phone, I tried the android port on TP2), so I can't say this is better, but it fit my taste.
Now, serious question, how to load 8107?

As of today - worth getting a Lumia 800?

Lumia forums here are very quiet but anyone who owns a Lumia 800, considering we might see WP8 announcements/launches in next 2-3 months - do you think it is worth getting a Lumia 800? I don't generally use 'used' phones as I've had bad experiences in past. So might go for a new one. I have HTC Titan currently which I'll sell off along with HTC Sensation XL - HTC is not impressing me on either of these handsets (long story).
Or will the general suggestion be of getting a cheap droid?
One of the plus points I've thought of so far is - Nokia will try and keep these Lumias alive by few more apps every now and then (exclusives) for next 12 months. I am hoping WP8 would have matured enough and I can then get second wave of WP8 devices or a cheaper pureview.
Must admit it is seriously quiet on here, I am going to wait for all the bugs to be ironed out before I go with a wp8 handset and until then will keep my 900 lumias as they do the job nicely, On the plus side there is wp7.8 to look out for in future, I personally would get a near new 800 or 900 to see you through til next year, I picked up a white 900 last month for £285 in near mint condition off ebay and it runs lovely, The 800s are abit cheaper and you could pick up a decent one for just under £200, Failing that I advise you try an N9 as I was really impressed with it, They go New from around £276 and will give you something different to tinker with, The only thing I didn't like about it was I could not sync it with Live calendar and I need that for all my work appointments etc, Great fun though and screen slightly bigger than Lumia 800s

I can't find any Lumia 900s for that cheap and 800s are nearly £50 cheaper. I guess I might play a waiting game for a week or so but you are right! Will go for one of the Lumia to take me on to 2013!

I managed to win at auction so was lucky to some degree, Sold my Black 900 as it was abit bland looking and then had enough to get the white one, I did same as you and ditched the Titans lol, Don't think I will be going back to HTC unless they bring out some wp8 phones which would need to be outstanding to tempt me away from Nokia now.

Nah, if you are going to stay with WP when WP8 are launched and you don't mind a bit of bulk, I think it will be worth waiting for Nokia with pure view! Will hands down beat both HTCs hardware and efforts behind WP! I am never lucky with bids (shakes his head!), never! I might have to give it another go and see if I am lucky with any bids at all this time

Wait for WP8 to launch and then buy a Nokia WP8 device. Nokia is very good at providing updates for Lumia series. I have Lumia 710 and I am very happy with the device. Very smooth GUI. There are some limitations but yes, they will be shortened in WP8.
I have a different question here, why would you sell your Titan for a Lumia 800? I mean, I'm honestly not seeing what you gain by this, and it would likely cost money. Sure, they'll keep the Lumias alive with special features, but then again - if you want to purchase a new phone anyways, the only logical thing to do would be imho keeping the Titan and going for a WP8 Lumia upon release.
I wouldnt get a lumia right now, with wp8 coming out so soon.

i'm betting on the storm for wp8 being loud and short. then a little trickle of a stream like wp7 did. there doesn't seem to be much going on in the wp8 section, either.
maybe the devs are waiting and watching to see if it's viable to spend any resources on it ?
The reason I want to sell HTC Titan is primarily because of call quality and secondly because from 7.8 onwards, Nokia looks like the only one who will be supporting its handset, even if it is by releasing exclusive apps. All other OEMs want you to buy WP8, where as Nokia will do what it did with Symbian, support the lower and the higher end markets equally for long time.
As I said, calm before the storm. No one is active here or anywhere else. WP blogs have dried out. But then WP8 doesn't look like a super hit yet based on leaks. It might be an excellent launch as all loyal Gen1 buyers want an upgrade. But I don't think I want a WP8 from first batch of launch. I am planning on Lumia 800/900 so that I have a WP7.8 handset that will be supported till 2013 summer by when second gen WP8 might be launched and will hope WP9 doesn't kill WP8 by no update path again. Can't see how I will react if WP8.8 scenario comes in 2013!
I gots my Lumia 800 a few weeks ago, free, with a 1 year plan. In those situations it's Definately worth getting it. Most Android or iOS offerings are at least twice as expensive and often offer a lesser user experience than my Lumia does, and this is in comparison with a Galaxy S3. Of course WP7.5 has it's flaws, but after 1 year i'm free to pick up a new device with my contract and I'm up for picking up an ironed out WP8 device then.
WP7.8 might lack a few features that WP8 will get, but 99.99% of those Nokia will fill in with their own apps. Like the datacounter application and so on. Even today the Lumia 800 is a seriously good device and once you learn how to handle the battery, it's still one of the best phones out there.
Don't get me wrong, if you would be stuck with it for a longer time after WP8 is available, you will feel like you miss out on stuff after a few months. But for year or even 1.5 years it's definately a good buy.
You getting a Lumia , i am going to have Titan 2... and we are both buying WP8... what a coincidence .

Certainly true, but I'd expect most if not all of them to be ported to other phones and I'm not sure the costs of this same-gen change would make this switch reasonable.

I'm not too unhappy with Board Express, but then again I'm not a heavy forums user. You can try this app and see if it fits your need.

I've been using 7Pass on my phone + KeePass on my desktop for ages and been very happy with it. This combination can synchronize and is available for free (or you can purchase the $1 version of 7Pass to support the development - it's worth it)

Oh, Google stuff. There seems to be a few Google+ apps, but nothing nearly serious - mostly junk applications. For YouTube there are decent apps in the marketplace, try Metrotube or SuperTrube. About the others I'm unsure.
I've seen Nokia 600 and 700 wp7.5 brand new in car phone warehouse for under 100quid. They are also selling the old Mozart wp7 for 99quid.

Not even comparable to official Tapatalk. May have to settle though.

Sounds nice but i wouldn't want to dump all my information into a unofficial app. Plus, mSecure functionality trumps this. Have you seen mSecure in action, the way it handles syncing and the way you can view and use your passwords? I can post examples if you like.

I had metrotube last year on my old HD7, might have to settle for that. Preloading has me spoiled.
I can go back to using Pulse to replace Currents. Everything else is a huge downgrade. Like no TV apps(Google TV), none of my games, etc.
Its a ton of trade offs, but I just want to try 7.8.
Damn I hope developers take advantage of native coding in WP8.

Idk. Now that I have my TF300 I've been using google stuff extensively again, but honestly there's such a huge family feeling with WP right now, after using it for 8 months. I get more functionalities and all the fancy stuff with Android, but my PHONE is too personal for me, and now I can't live without the feel of warmth that WP offers me throughout the UI. Everything became like a part of me, and even if WP8 won't be able to face the competition I'll still be hooked anyway. No matter what, even JB feels COLD to me. IDK if it's the design, the functionality of the few basic things we have or what. I just can't think about myself using something else daily at this point. Am I nuts? Maybe it's just the bit of vodka I had tonite, but still...

Motorola Triumph Jelly Bean SIGN UP

Ok my last post about jelly bean = FAIL. This time it isn't me. Motorola has a petition going around for phones released in 2011 and there after. (Yes the Triumph falls under this category) If enough people go to the link and sign up for the petition for this phone, THEY WILL PERSONALLY BUILD US JELLY BEAN. This is direct and without flaws.(THAT MEANS NO LIST OF THINGS NOT WORKING). No more alpha crap waiting for beta and the use of an operating system without ALL features. I realize that devs are hard at work, but I really wish that they either hurry up, or EVERY TRIUMPH OWNER SIGNS UP. Yes this may take some time, but it is AN OFFICIAL MOTOROLA TRIUMPH UPDATE. SIGN UP HERE---\/
Go to right hand side of page, enter details, phone model, etc. Hit Send and you are a +1 person
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/ci/documents/detail/2/motorola-jelly-bean-rebate_en-US
By the way
By the way, this is totally possible because our device name is in the list of supported devices according to that Motorola sight. All we need is hype about this and enough people to request the update.
If the old mod is watching this and remembers the last post I had that was shut down, I am personally sorry for that disorganized mess.
Eh, them spending development time on such a niche phone seems very very very unlikely, On their ICS upgrade schedule forums.motorola.com/pages/00add97d6c the Triumph was listed as "TRIUMPH WX435 - Will remain on Android 2.2. "
No plans for 2.3, no plans for 4.0, 4.1 seems highly highly improbable.
On the plus side you may be able to trade your phone in for a 100 dollar gift card down in 2013. Perhaps they will fund a nice chunk of your next virgin mobile Motorola phone, since I bought it for 130 a year ago that isn't a bad deal at all.
Honestly cashing out for a new more powerful, JB shipped with it, dual core, more ram, better screen, hundred dollars off phone will probably be the far better deal TRIUMPH WX435
Will remain on Android 2.2.
UMM WELL

I see you didn't see my comment, the website says that the TRIUMPH is on the list of possible updates. Also you didn't read the fine line, the 100 dollars is only towards new motorola phones with jellybean. The Triumph is just waiting for enough people TO SIGN UP.
This isn't a petition, it's a signup sheet for information. No where on the site does it say if enough people sign up we will dictate their business decisions. No where on the page says you are voting for which phones get updated and it is a popularity contest. It also doesn't say these phones are all being considered, just that they all were made in 2011 and qualify for one of the two offers.
Motorola said all phones released in 2011 will either get JB or 100 dollars off a new phone. Which clearly means some phones will fall in the 100 dollar camp with no JB, and I am betting that will include far better and more expensive $500+ phones than the Triumph.
Of phones for that to happen to, the dirt cheap, stripped down, already announced to be staying at 2.2, prepaid carrier phone is probably at the top of the unlucky pile. The Triumph is an odd duck in Motorolla's 2011 heap, I am surprised it even got included for the chance at $100 at all. I bet half the phones on that list will be getting a 100 off offer and no JB no matter how many people sign up. (And some of these phones are far more popular than the Triumph, sold on major carriers and worldwide)
All signing up here does is sign you up for the mailing list that will say "Congratulations, We didn't upgrade your phone, You qualify for $100 off the $200 New Motorola phone @ Sprint/Verizon/ATT with a 2 year contract $80 contract! ... If you send in your Triumph" That will be one cheap promise to keep, nobody will leave $25 Vmo for that. Motorolla wins more if they get you to buy a new contract Droid Razor Maxx for $400ish, than porting JB to a unpopular (We are in the Legacy and Low Activity Devices forum) and unprofitable (Most phones are 500-600 dollars subsidized down to 200 with contract, ours sold without contract for 100-200) phone.
I wish it got upgraded too, I wish other Motorolla phones got upgraded too. Thanks for the link, I signed up for all my phones.
Just don't get your hopes up too high, expect a hundred dollars off an expensive phone on sprint, *HOPE* that they are unprepared for virgin mobile customers and we get a 100 gift card or something we can use on virgin mobile or hope that Motorolla comes out with a good new phone for Vmo... JB on the Triumph has a snowball's chance in hell.
Edit: In addition Vmo doesn't even want this phone to be attractive, since we are grandfathered in at 25 bucks they want this phone to die out. It never goes on sale, They have it priced at Full Brand New Retail more expensive than dual core 3D 4G phones running ICS and a hundred dollars more than I paid a year ago. If Vmo has anything to say about it (They certainly do) this phone would never ever see an update. Also Vmo has an extablished MO of not updating any phones ever. The Triumph just happens to be the one phone Motorola sells with them.
As expected, Moto has updated the release list
https://forums.motorola.com/pages/00add97d6c
Phones that cost 300 dollars subsidized (so really 600-800ish) 1 year ago are now not getting ICS, and they deleted the triumph as if it never even existed, phones far better got screwed, the triumph is so low in the pecking order it essentially doesn't exist according to moto.
Here is hoping our 100 trade in comes in the form of a versatile gift card, and we can buy nexus devices.

hmmm give every triumph owner 100 dollars or just put jelly-bean on Triumph. someone didnt think before making such an extensive post. oh nvm, they took Triumph right off of the list! dirty bastards are lucky this was the first Android phone to hit VM. I woulda been quick to choose any HTC model over this one.
Best bet for a jellybean experience: take your triumph boot into recovery wipe everything. Find a baseball bat near buy commence smashing. Look around for new phone with a working cm10 wala now you have jellybean ,
