Hey Guys,
Im considering trading my nexus S for a LG G2x off Craigslist. He says there are no random resets, no bleeding...stuff like that. It has flashed eaglesblood on it.
Is this a safe bet for a working (kickbutt) phone? Or am i risking stuff here?
Cheers
Trevor
U Mad Bro? Why would you trade for a Nexus S for that?

well i think you should do it its worth it because you getting a newer phone with 4g and dual core plus i advice you to flash the miui rom after you get it this rom is the best it lets you use so many themes and locksscreen then any other rom plus it looks so much HD
To be honest I would rather have the Nexus S. ROM's are more stable. There's still some bugs here and there for CM7 on G2x, but they're still very stable. Plus you're guaranteed ICS. Dual core is cool, but nVIDIA doesn't release drivers so that sucks.
Up to you though. Just be weary, there might be a reason he's trading his G2x.
Powered by a G2x
As much as I enjoy my G2x, I wouldn't.
To answer your question, I don't think it's safe considering how many issues the G2x came with, not that many weren't software-based and can't be fixed, I just imagine that if he is selling it, he might be having an issue that he feels he can't fix. Or maybe it has an issue that is truly not fixable.
Regardless, your Nexus S is legit. We truly can't take advantage of two cores until ICS.
Haha OK. So after all that I decided to go for it. LOL. So... I guess a hello to the forums is in order .b
I've had the phone running for a while now... no issues.not even screen bleed. Solid as a rock, the only
thing is sometimes the browser force closes... I can live with that. I'm hoping I got lucky. Lol
Welcome. Fast phone, but until ICS, it really is a single core phone. At a used, student price, you got a good deal.
I say do it. I got mine off Ebay. Not a single problem here.

DONT DO IT!!!!!!!! I miss my nexus one and I swore that i am never getting another android phone unless its a nexus... LG doesnt give a crap about this phone, they have moved on to bigger and better things. i doubt we will ever get ICS.. im currently using CM7 which makes this phone some what enjoyable, but still has its fair share of bugs and problems, such as GPS and camera sucks, my N1 was better at taking photos.

Oh my God! Is this the g2x's whining thread? If you don't think a dual core 4g phone is the best choice your being a baby. You want a phone with problems, huawei ascend. I owned 6 prior to my 2 g2x's. Choose right rom/kernel this phone will stomp anything. I have the screenshots to prove my claims. I am a full time writer at ACS, I do reviews as a second career. But listen to all these guys.

The Nexus S 4G (which wasn't really different), so I did do a bit of keyboard-in-mouth, for a minute there I did forget the Nexus S came out on T-Mobile first. Tired.
I came from the Nexus One, bought the G2x off-contract, specically to be able to pick up the Nexus Prime at a discount.
I just hope the nexus prime won't disappoint. Rumors on specs are mixed. The qualcomm chips in the Tmo SG2 and Amaze are meh. Also 5mp camera is meh.... other specs say it'll have the Exynos chipset and 8mp cam. Some say Verizon will get it first others say T-Mobile. Verizon has the Droid Prime with similar specs already and aren't ones to keep it clean with Android.
Either way, if the specs are worthwhile over the G2x, I'll grab it.
Best solution for me personally would be Verizon with sweet specs as my old work blackberry needs upgraded and I set up our new exchange to work properly so my company is allowing Android sets now... meaning I can kill my $70 personal T-Mobile line, sell my G2x and profit.
LG G2x - 2.3.5 MIUI
Asus Transformer - 3.2 Revolver
I honestly don't think it's that much of an upgrade of our G2x's. Our phone is still up to par with alot of the phones out there now.. Once we get ICS on this thing, we should be fine.
Will it work on at&t?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Yeah. I think it'll get more development support and the devs won't have to worry about nvidia giving up the source codes.

The Prime looks nice but I plan on holding onto my G2x until the phone hits at least the one year mark if not more to see what's coming next spring and summer. Quad core phones anyone?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I know everyone wants the latest and greatest, but sometimes it's a bit overkill. Unless you have a good job with 500+ bucks to throw I don't see why we should be running to get the Prime when you already have a Tegra 2 Dual core device. Nothing can even tough this device yet.
It'd be hard for me to dump my dual core device for another dual core. At this point might as well wait for whatever the next gen quads come out next year. And once that happens, I don't even know what we'd do with a quad core lol.
Well... We'd buy more batteries, of course.

Lol, I seriously think they should just take a break on the progression of processors, screens, GPU's, etc. and use that time and man power in advancing the technology of battery's... That's literally the only Achilles heel that even the best smartphone's have these days.
At this point, I'd rather have the creation of a 5,000 mAH battery with out changing it's size than a quad core processor.

Agreed ten fold. I'm waiting til the Nexus Double Prime before I plan to upgrade. This phone is doing just fine, and has a very nice set of developers working on it for us.
If they did make quad core phones, I bet the battery life would be at least 20% worse than now. When I'm not even getting super amazing battery life to begin with, it might be a problem.

Yeah, main difference between the two will be updates. Something the G2X will probably never officially see. After the half ass 2.3 update we got I'm pretty much over it.
....
I really don't see the point of quad core phones; unless Google does something unbelievable with Jelly Bean that needs an insane amount of processing, nothing a smartphone does needs that much. Hell, dual core isn't even that necessary unless you run a lot of 3D stuff.
There is such a thing as overkill people. I'd like to see phone manufactorers declare the smartphone as it exists now finished and start working on some new innovations that would make better hardware necessary. 3D screen ala Nintendo 3DS with FFC capable of eye-tracking to orient the 3D so you see it at any angle?
While I agree that the G2x can hold its own, I do miss owning a nexus device. My friend still has his Nexus One and running official software we can only get via custom roms.
My reasoning to grabbing the Nexus Prime IF if launches on Verizon is so my work can pay for it. Unfortunately I heard Verizon is launching the Galaxy Prime.... which is similar but not the nexus prime backed by Google.
Well just have to wait until Tuesday. All the rumors running around its hard to make any reasonable decision.
If Verizon gets gimped on Google support then I'll keep my G2x for a long while.

Agreed. My work is on sprint and I am waiting to see if it launches on sprint. If it does, I'll pick it up. If not, either sii or stay on g2x. It looks to me that the prime is going to launch on everyone but sprint.

If you don't want to spend much, go for it. For it's price, it's an amazing phone. One thing to note is that stock firmware isn't the greatest, so if you want to see the true potential of the device, flash CM7/EB or Weapon G2x.

The G2x, in my opinion. Is a great phone. I have had it for about a month now and I will say I have not had one single problem with it. This thing is quick!
I have flashed every ROm that xda and others have to offer and have always reverted back to stock and just rooted it. But for me I can't use use a ROm that has issues. Not saying that the ROM's that have been posted by the DEV's here on xda aren't great roms, as they all offer something different and it is strictly user preference on which you will/could use. I just find that stock runs flawlessly for me.
But as for the phone? I came from a Sensation, this G2x royally kicks the Sensations backside. And I will be using this G2x for quite awhile.
For me it is definitely a great phone, cheap, fast, and look pretty darn cool.

I've been debating the same thing. If gaming isn't your thing, I'd go for the NS. It already has ICS, we'll get ICS "by summer". A couple of things still don't work on CM7 through no fault of their own, it's NVIDIA's closed drivers, so the same will probably happen on CM9. I know they said they'd help the development community but it's already January and we haven't seen anything so I'm not holding my breath.

Nexus S IMO, I"m actually trying to trade mine as well for a Nexus S. I like SAMOLED better and some thing's on the G2x just bug me. Samsung just makes the best phones IMO, plus it's a Google phone. Can't go wrong with that one. And with Tegra being closed source it'd troublesome to dev on.

I disagree. There's no better chipset for gaming than Tegra2. You'll be hard pressed to find another phone that, when overclocked, hits 100 FPS. Just my opinion.
The NS is hype, a brand, and a loyal group of followers...none of which merit the glorification it receives. G2x is in every way a better phone; the resale value bit mentioned before is complete bull****. The NS sells for the same, if not more than the G2x. I think it's complete bull****. G2x blows the NS out of the water. You can keep an active community, but to me, it comes down to specs. NS is old and can't compare to newer, better technology.

I don't care how many cores is in a phone. as long as it works how it should, and the g2x was not doing that FOR ME. Take an iPhone 3gs for instance, I don't think it even had a 1ghz processor yet its as smooth as a 1ghz android.

How's the NS? What's your thoughts after trading? Pros and cons?
My Pros of NS:
Super Amoled
Endless dev support & official Google support
Camera quality looks better
No memory leaks=multitasking King even with 512mb of ram!
My Pros of G2x:
Dual Core Processor!
Micro SD slot
Gorgeous looking device!
Although both the NS and G2x have a 4 inch screen, the G2x screen just looks much bigger and I love the almost natural looking whites.
My Cons of NS:
Single Core Processor
Screen attracts finger prints like crazy and so does the entire phone!
My Cons of G2x:
Lack of drivers=lack of excellent quality roms (no offense to the devs)!
Camera sucks so bad!!! I know its a software issue since the camera was way better with LG's camera app on official Froyo (I've owned a G2x before)
Battery life SMH! Need I explain?
Conclusion: I love both phones. Either phone fits me well since all I really look for is a phone that makes/receives calls, browse the internet well and text. I'm pretty simple. I love the G2x hardware, just hate LG for letting it go to waste. This phone really had and still has potential to be something great. It definitely is better than the NS when it comes to hardware, but software wise the NS has this phone by a long shot.
Luckily I haven't had any random reboots or overheating as my other G2x did in the past. And I notice very little screen bleeding so I'm happy!

I could not be more fed up with the T-Mo G2x. I just listed it on Craigslist. I have had more problems with this phone that any other Android phone I've owned. I can not find a ROM that makes this phone run smoothly. I do not blame the devs in any way. They are just working with the crap that LG provided them. Anywho...to my question. I was wondering from those of you on T-Mobile what you thought the best replacement would be. I'm not eligible for an upgrade for another year so that is out of the question. I need a contract free phone and it needs to run on T-Mo's 3G or HSPA+ network. Thanks for your advice guys. I appreciate it. BTW...my budget is $350. With pretty much any optimized CM ROM (Eaglesblood, Hellfire Phoenix) and a good kernel, well THE good kernel (trinity) your phone will fly. Could easily compete with the T-Mo Galaxy S2.
But, yeah, the next best thing to a G2x is a Galaxy S2, I think HTC phones are ugly, but if you like them I think T-mo has a few good ones.

Why do people think a single core phone can compete with a dual core phone? It just doesn't make sense to me.
Even with crap software a dual core phone beats a single core phone in sheer processing power, and then with custom ROMs it beats them in everything. Not to mention the G2x has Tegra 2.
I'm happy with my G2x's hardware, and the dev's here are amazing.
Can't blame you for being fed up with it. While I've never really had problems with it I know plenty have.
To me, you shouldn't have to constantly try to find a perfect combo of ROM and kernel to make a phone good. It should already be 100% working out of the box, and the G2x was far away from that.
Hopefully you can get something better! If you can try to trade it for a Nexus S. Nexus S has no problems and actually has a higher re-sale value than the G2x.
Anyways, good luck.
Try the ICS kang roms? I hate this phone too, although custom roms do seem to fix a lot of the issues I had with the g2x.
If you're looking for a different phone I would recommend the amaze/galaxy s2 or wait a few months for some of the new phones that were announced at MWC.

I have used several international Huawei before and they all have been sub-par. they really are a budget phone maker and I don't want to be their Guinea pig for the high end market.

I don't feel that I am missing out in any way shape or form. After having a Nexus S in the past and having used my mom's nexus s since the 4.0.3 update, I can tell you that it blows my G2X out of the water. Single core or not, I will take a bugless interface over what I have been dealing with on the G2X. I am unable to keep it on for more than an hour at a time, at which point I get the sleep of death. This is my 3rd G2X and they have all had the same issues. I have tried every custom rom and every kernel and every combination in between. I am experienced with flashing roms and kernels and can not for the life of me make this phone worth anything. I'm done with it. So yeah...I am considering going back to the Nexus S.
One more thing. Thank you so much to all of the devs for the G2X. Thanks for all of the work that all of you have put in trying to make this phone everything it should be. You are very much appreciated.

You are lucky my friend. I haven't owned one yet that doesn't suffer from the sleep of death. It truly makes me sad as the G2X really is one hell of an handset. I just can't take the frustration associated with it. I just need a phone that works for the next 11 months. Then I can get the first round of 6 core processor phones early next year....I can be hopeful right????

Can't blame you for being fed up with it. While I've never really had problems with it I know plenty have.
To me, you shouldn't have to constantly try to find a perfect combo of ROM and kernel to make a phone good. It should already be 100% working out of the box, and the G2x was far away from that.
Hopefully you can get something better! If you can try to trade it for a Nexus S. Nexus S has no problems and actually has a higher re-sale value than the G2x.
Anyways, good luck.

Shame. My phone is fast and stable. No sleep death, great power, and damn good battery life.

Tried them. All was well for a couple of days. Then the sleep of death came back.

Try the ICS kang roms? I hate this phone too, although custom roms do seem to fix a lot of the issues I had with the g2x.
If you're looking for a different phone I would recommend the amaze/galaxy s2 or wait a few months for some of the new phones that were announced at MWC.

You must've just gotten bad hardware, but I wouldn't try again to see if you got good hardware on this phone, I guess I was lucky as my G2x is smooth as butter and bugless.
Also if you still have your G2x, try raising the minimum frequency using SetCPU as many said that fixed their problem, but if you don't then don't worry about it.
Have fun with your Nexus S, because even though it's hardware can't compare, you'll still have complete google support and be among the first to get 4.1.x.

I actually switched from a Nexus S to the G2X. I never had an issue with it in any way. I just couldn't resist some dual core goodness with the G2X came out. I regret ever switching at this point. Someone just offered me $240 for the G2X which goes pretty much for what they are selling on Ebay and on Amazon. I think I'm gonna do it. Anyone have any suggestions of other places to sell it for more?

That's why I always keep my previous phone for a couple months after upgrading.
Take that deal, because of the G2x's bad rep most people sell them for around 50-100$, but you've got a sucker on your hands, so sell it quickly before he smartens up.
Although, I've seen some people say their G2x was bad and then when someone else bought it the other person was able to have a stable clock speed of 1.66 with undervolting which is extremely intense, so you may be the sucker .
But yeah, if you don't like it, sell it to that guy.
EDIT: also the SODs can be caused by your battery, you may have gotten a faulty battery from LG (like many others.)

OH! Yeah, right now a single core ICS phone would blow a dual core GB phone out of the water, seeing as ICS has the HW acceleration :/.
ICS builds are a lot less than perfect right now for this phone.

I had the same problems with mine up until about a week ago. I read an article that stated it wasn't the phones problem but a battery problem due to LG batteries having a bad batch and overall suck. I ordered a anker battery off of eBay and guess what? I have not had one single issue again for a week straight. Same rom and kernel as before. So to anyone having issues and are using the stock battery replace it with a non OEM brand.

Hey Fellow Infuser's....
So are you guys thinking about going S3? I am sort of on the fence about it as I am due for an upgrade, but the S3 is launching with a 2 core LTE.
I am thinking they might due the old switcheroo with like the S2 and the Skyrocket bs.....
Would you guys wait for a quad LTE, as the Tegra 3 is has already been through ATT's test?
What do you guys think? Thanks!
NOTE....!
i will get a unbranded unlocked international version
Would love to, if I were due for an upgrade.
I've been thinking of getting the international version that has quad core...but idk, that would mean I would have to sell my infuse...which I really don't want to-i love my infuse lol...but the geeky tech side of me wants the latest and greatest even if the hardware can't be fully utilized lol
Anyways...the duo core coming for att is supposed to have 2gb of ram I believe, where the quad core only has 1gb...

Why the international version? It has no LTE.... HSPA+ is slow enough on my Infuse.
By the way, Samsung already released the source code for the SGS3, so I mean AOSP is going to be on the US carrier phones pretty soon.
All of the phones coming to the US is 2GB's of RAM.
Infuse is a pretty good phone, but I like the new design with more rounded edges and the blue looks pretty hot....
Quad core with LTE is what I am thinking of waiting for but I wonder how far that is along?

old hardware? Actually in this tech world anything more than 3-6months old is considered out date, so it seems....

Its basically the same phone as the SGS3, but pixel density is higher on the SGS3.... but that might be because of a smaller screen.... So basically the exact phone except with some software changes.....
Its the same?
I also got the unbranded note n7000 . I dont think i need the quad core but i do need bigger screen

the international version is tempting but the sgs1 is still badass imho. power isn't everything.. i'm keeping the infuse unless i break another one. then if i have the money it'll be the international sgs3 or if i dont ill get another infuse or captivate.

Hey, Dan.
Long time no see...Hope you're doing good.
hey infuse family !,
yah ya know, just thinkin' since that GSIII will only be sporting duals, id halfta deffinetly go with G-NOTE. If possible, i would overclock her duals to 2.0 ! (im guessing this may only be in my dreams), but if not maybe rock her out to 1.7, 1.9? really get in der and joust her jowls !! And then get that newer hacked/modified S-pen app ive been seein floatin round!! anyone see it? its like a crazy lil' miniature photoshop on the go! and oolala is that stylus like a samurai sword, so precise !! and um, yah !, that good dense pixel-populated screen is soo beautiful and crisp and fine, and the best part of it all is her size ! she's like a gargantuan plus-sized sexy momma, and i cant get enough, i even wish she was bigger cmon samsung give me a full figured 6 incher !! lol !!!
cheers brothers!
While we are on the subject which one the note or the gs3 and reasons why? From what I can tell the at&t versions will be pretty much the same specs but the notes bigger and bigger battery.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
Same specs as note... not true. The s3 has 2gb ram and the s4 which annihilates the s3 (note) and does better in tests then the tegra 3. Idk about the new exynos, but id be happy with the gs3 over the note sadly. Note 2 is going to be the best no doubt.
Btw here is att page on the gs3, click on learn more and there you have the major specs for you http://www.att.com/galaxysiii/?wtSlotClick=1-007JMY!903919-1-1&rel=nofollow#fbid=42LHi-vzBIX
BTW it looks like we are getting a home button! Yes im soooo happy about this, finally it will look awesome and look exactly like the international ones.
