This is pathetic on samsung's part, one of the most powerful phones on the market and they leave it with a broken gps and outdated software, long past every other notable phone has froyo we will still be chillin with eclair...and relying on our dev community for navigation, sammy needs to get their **** together

Android 2.3 coming in a few months for captivate

Hi,
I'm not sure which section of to put this thread in, but anyways. I was at AT&T buying some screen protectors for my captivate and the salesperson told me that 2.3 is coming in a few months for the captivate. I hope this will answer some questions. Hopefully the salesperson wasn't lying. But this is good new!!! PS there is the same post in the Q&A section that I accidently posted. I meant to post in the General section.

Are you sure he said that last "for the captivate" part? I'm sure what he meant was "we'll eventually have a phone with android 2.3. It won't be the captivate, I'm just telling you now so you get your wallet ready."

My friend works for rogers up here in canada and he was saying the same thing about gingerbread. hopefully it is sometime soon within a couple of months.

Who cares where it comes from. If there's official 2.3.3 out somewhere, devs here will get their hands on it.

We will see. I wouldn't say give up all hope that 2.3 will ever get to us... but based on past history... don't hold your breath. Also, my experience with AT&T reps is there are a few that have a clue on Android and they are like us. coming to XDA and various blogs for their info. I don't think AT&T gives them official anything.

So, messed with just about everything I could think of to see what was working and what wasn't. Here's my small list of whats not working. Hope it helps.
Can't view gallery items.
Music app doesn't show song info under album art. Or show music at all for others.
Weather LWP doesn't move.
Landscape on Homescreen.
Will try to get you a logcat tomorrow. Hopefully.

Nfinite, I have a logcat from kingdom and a logcat from gingersense while I was playing music so you can compare the two. My pc isn't working right and I can't download or post them here, send me a pm with your email and I can get them to you asap. Awesome work bro! I can't wait for this to be functional with sound.

I can't go to my settings at all. I just installed ICS 2.0 on GummyCharged GBE 2.1
I also cannot use my Wi-Fi. What's happening?

Just try downloading InfinityRom 12/04 and then go into the theme section and download the ICS theme that works with that ROM..i know there is one in there (this is it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331598)...update to a new rom and a new ICS theme

The thread has been deleted now, but there was a thread where we were all telling him he was running the wrong rom to use the theme he wanted, telling him what he needed to run, and he was cussing at us and telling us that no one was telling him what he needed to know. It was entertaining for a bit, then it got sad. I'm still not convinced that he's not an elaborate troll, because there's no way anyone can be that thick.

Am I Okay for Daily Use?

Hey everyone,
I just got the Nexus S 4G last night, traded my Epic 4G Touch for it. Hardware wise, I guess I downgraded, but practicality and such - I'm a very happy camper.
GPS works great, fits like a glove in my hand, and I love that it's in a much newer condition lol.
Any way,
This phone came running on an ICS build. I'm not really sure which and it seems stable so far. I'm just curious, is there a more recent type of ROM/update I should run on or is it okay to just stay on this build here.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

oh well can't stress over a $200 loss.
if you want stable, then what you have may be stable. if its not crashing of course.
now what you have seems to be 2 months old. and to a lot of us. that's like a year.
I wont endorse any ROM because they havnt included a thanks in the OP mentioning me.
mine is still in develoment. its the best.

Lol, I didn't take a straight loss. I had guy put money on top to break even. But yea it seems stable so far, battery life is nice too.

Anyway, to the OP, I actually went the opposite way.. I traded my nexus s for a second e4gt, kinda regretting it.. You will love the ns4g, it gets the job done.
