Does anyone have a modded ROM that will support 4g here in Canada All these ROM seem to support 3g only and my original supports 4g. Some info would be great.

Does the optimus 3D really support 4G (LTE)? However, I think you can do that by replacing the radio, check Thrill 4G forum for details.

Its not an lte phone, my radio said before it was 4g and i notice speeds faster than hspa 3g but now its seems that its 3.5 g reds the H now never reads the 4g notification now. And i will check out the the lg thrill forum thanks

Is there any practical difference between the two or are they just rebranded versions of each other?
I'm sitting with my LG Thrill 4G right now and am looking to get some sort of root happening so I can manage this battery life..
pretty sure it's just branding but don't quote me on that.
All tech sites list them as the same so don't think there is any real difference.

AFAIK neither the O3D or the Thrill has true 4G radio, as I understand it it's just that some updated 3G stuff are OK to call 4G because of the upgrade even though it's not really 4G.
As I remember AT&T and some other network had a case before the review board that decides what is what because their ads said 4G but it's really not, but because of the speed upgrade they where doing etc it was decided that it could be called 4G.
I might be totally wrong and the Thrill 4G really has a 4G radio but I don't think so, I think most of the 4G phones are actually 3GPP LTE.

Looks just like the O3D so unless the Thrill 4G for AT&T is a one of a kind AT&T specific phone that no other carrier can have then the 4G is marketing and nothing else.

found this issue for a different phone but not the sensation. i just flashed to the Android Revolution HD™ 3.6.2 XE rom and it doesnt show 4G anymore but an H. am i still getting 4G just with an H icon or am i getting less?
Yes, h is T-Mobile 4g.

T-Mobile USA uses 4g for the h symbol (and I'm pretty sire even for normal 3g, or utms, after seeing romanbb so some tests). But it really is 4g.

A: My ROMs are based on WWE HTC ROMs. It means that there is no "4G" icon but you have HSPA+ connection with "H" icon anyway.
4g is a scam anyway. The 4g you get is not "real" 4g.

Probably has to do with your ROM being based on a European version.
The technical term for what you call 4G in the US is HSPA and basically is an addon to the UMTS/3g specification.
The Mobile standards organizations have not yet settled on a 4th generation mobile standard, candidates for 4g networks are LTE Advanced (Long Term Evolution Advanced not to confuse with LTE which does not qualify for 4G failing some of the technical criteria), IEEE802.16m or WirelessMAN-Advanced (not sure what that is, all pretty much prototype state)
Then there's the failed/former 4G candidates that all fail one or more of the criteria the standardization bodies agreed on (called 3.9G according to Wikipedia):
3GPP LTE, WiMAX, UMB, Flash-OFDM and iBurst of which only 3GPP LTE and WiMAX were developed into a productive system for mobile phones.
HSDPA, HSDPA+ as well as their upload counterparts HSUPA and HSUPA+ are sometimes referred to as 3.5G and in the US are often marketed as 4G
To sum it up: 4G is not yet there, but it's commonly used as a marketing buzzword for updates to the 3g standards. In europe these updates are called by their technical names HS(U/D)PA(+) and ROMs based on european original firmwares use the H while the US based roms use the 4G icon.
The Sensation does not support any of the 4G networks, neither the candidates nor the discontinued ones. It can only do HSPA+ with data rates of 7.2 Mbit/s per wireless stream. (I think the Sensation supports MIMO to achieve up to 21 MBit/s downstreram)
LTE at 100 Mbit/s or LTE Advanced are NOT Supported by the Sensation, thus it's neither a 3.9G nor a 4G device, but at best a 3.5G device. (Though I think that classification is way more confusing than it helps guessing the performance)
What is the Best Radio to use for Sensation 4g Running CM7? My 4g is kind of off... I sometimes get really good speeds and sometimes it'll act like a dial up connection! Any help would be much appreciated!

check you radio version to see which one you have. do you have any other issue, with the wifi for example?
Wifi works fine. im running 10.56.9035.00P_10.14.9035.01_M It has the H Icon which is 4G but it is going in and out from H to 3G to G to E. Depending on where I am at.

I guess it's just your network that is not fully 4g covered. I have the same thing here in my country. When I received my sensation, I had the 4g icon wherever I was, but when I flashed my first custom rom, and radio, I guess the thing became more sensitive and shown 3g and H icons.

I have an Unlocked HTC sensation XE that I am going to put on Tmobile 4G or Simple 4G, will this phone even get 4G on T-Mobile U.S? I do not see the 4G symbol is there a rom or something that i have to download for that?

That's GSMArena's take on it. If yours is the bottom set, 1700/2100, you'll get T-Mobile 4G. I have no idea what Simple 4G is, so I can't help you there.

Oh, I didn't see the other question. The 4G indicator is an american carrier thing, when you have 3G/4G, you'll see an H. 2G is gonna be an E and GPRS is G. There are mods floating around for Sense and AOSP roms alike that'll give you 2G and 4G indicators.
so if i lets say flashed Sense 4 would i get the 4g indicator?
The mods theoretically work on any ROM. PkMn ROM has in-built tweaks to allow you to switch from 'H' to '4G' whenever you want. It's also sense 4.

That's a known issue with sense 4.1 Roms. I'm.using viper one s 1.1.1 and it has a g icon for 4g.

I have the HTC one s 4g running the newest viperone Rom and I don't see it having 4g.
I looked up the specs for the phone and it says it doesn't support 4g on tmobile but I keep seeing forums with people saying they have 4g.
What do I have to do to have 4g? I have a new micro sim that should support it.

the rom is not the one that controls the data speeds or 3g or 4g, the radio is, our phone is quad-band and suport T mobile and att networks.
lte is not suported, beside thath all the other networks like. 4g,3g,2g,edge,g, are supoerted.
what the rom does not suport is the data icons, since the venom 2.0.0 base is not from T Mobile Us and is from some kind of rare network in Europe,, 4g icon is not suported, phone will be most of the time in 3g and h icon.
but your data speeds will be the same as 4g, since only the icon is not present in the rom.
