Today I have an anouncement.
I will be doing all MIUI development for the X, D2 and D2G. Also, I will be making an update for my barebones CM rom once a month from here on out. Lastly, I will be working on an Ice Cream Sandwich rom from the SDK later this week to have something ready for when source drops. As for my Milestone 2 rom, I am probably going to release what I have and see if someone else can figure out how to get data working with it. I do not have a job where I can constantly be SBF'ing my phone anymore and that rom was the fastest way to break the phone. I still am planning on working on a sense port but that will be far down the road after ICS is out.
Secondly, Since I am working on so many devices right now, expect delays to be there but things still coming out at least. I am taking donations to get my thinkpad working again (since it got killed) that way I can have 2 dev machines. Any phones I can get will help too. Whether it be an X, D2G or D2. Simply put, I don't have enough hardware right now to crank them out very fast and I am asking for donations to expedite releases. I am posting this in the X forum since I will be developing for that device now.
I appreciate anything you guys have given to me before (you guys kept me afloat during my unemployment). I look forward to be doing more releases, but if you guys have anything left to give... It will make this much faster for me. Developing with my phone I use has just become almost out of the question.
Edit: ICS will be my primary rom in development until we get it running. Once DXC does his last release I will be doing just maitenence releases for MIUI.
I am a complete newb, so I might be way off. So with what your developing could I put ICS on a Skyrocket? And if I could would it be a stock version or a custom one?
I'm semi new to Android Development .etc and I have somewhat of a stupid question as I dont understand what MIUI is.
Also. This means there will be a CM rom of Ice Cream Sandwitch for the D2G?
i got xtra d2g but it is locked
i sent it back to d seller to unlock it n she kept saying she dod have d right unlock code and she has no idea y it does not work.
mayb i can get it send to u ACE, helped me to unlock it n u gotta keep it for development purpose.
then once u done wit it, send it back to me
i believe the seller live in lima ohio
Keep up the good work, Ace!
Dont forget about GSM users of the D2G.
Thank you!

Is there a project for an android rom 2.3 with baseband Europe or USA? I like the work being done, but an android rom 2.3 would make a big difference for this phone.
One suggestion would be to make a port of the Milestone 2.3 rom. Or use a Cyanogem 2.3.5. If developers need help testing or other things, I am available.
But I want to make this suggestion which I think is helpful.

hey bud, welcome to our forum as I suppose you are new. We are very fortunate with the ROM's we have presented to you as it has been a long tough road for the few Dev's we are so fortunate to have here. Considering Moto did not offer us an upgrade to 2.2 and the locked bootloader it has been a tough road to 2.2, as most other good phones with less or same as or better Hardware all got the 2.2 upgrades, therefore it was easier for the Dev's of those phones to proceed forward to a 2.3 ROM. We are very proud of the progress our dev's have made to help bring us 2.2 we are just now getting close to perfection. So you may have come at a good time, your struggle to get to 2.2 is already bypassed and there are a few Dev's currently working on ways to bring us 2.3. If you take the time to look around the threads you can see their progress. As for me, I am very grateful for our 2.2's since Moto never intended for us to have it! lol.

Definitely agreed I remember the time when I saw this forum asking Dexter to help make 2.2 ROM and since then, the devs here have managed to make many wonderful and stable 2.2 ROMs. As for me, I'm not too concerned with gingerbread cos I perfectly happy with the 2.2 ROMs!!

I believe Mioze7Ae is working on CM7, along with his other projects
Since Google has purchased Moto, I hope it gets better. But I'm so glad to be part of XDA member. I got my 2.2 from XDA. Big thanks to those who work on upgrading our XT720!

Yep, I'm quite happy with my khal_power's 2.2 as well. It's very stable and way better than original ROM.
To all those super developers out there.
Assuming that Ice Cream Sandwich is running on a suped up Galaxy S2 for Verizon, with LTE. How fast do you think you guys will get it over to the Charge?
Also, I have never bought any of that team Black Hat stuff, but if you could get me ICS a month after release, I would be more than happy to pay you for it.
Many of you are younger guys, and you seem to work for charity, but why? Business is business, if you've got something people want, consider charging for it.
I'm sure some people are reading this thinking I am nuts, but if these guys charged for roms, they would have more time to put into it. In some respects I am just saying what everyone already know, you get what you pay for.
Thank you to the entire dev community. Keep up the good work.

are you talking about the complete system dump of ICS as a stock rom? or custom rom like Gummy/Humble using it as a base? If it's the first option it could take a while longer... though it kinda makes me wonder if VZ is holding out on GB for us to get ICS to our phones, it seems kinda pointless to upgrade us to GB then this magical new build ICS comes out a month later

This would be my guess unfortunately. Of course I have no evidence or reasons to support my belief, but its my guess nonetheless
If the charge does get ics i highly doubt it will be before summer of 2012. To be honest i wouldn't even count on that though. At least going by there current track record of verizon and sammy. But only time will tell.
I just really hope that these top end phones will start keeping up with current android builds. the fascinate was on eclair when gb was released and now the charge is on froyo and ics is about to be released.
well isn't ICS supposed to be like the universal android build for all devices? you'd think they'd wanna push it out to all (perhaps more recent ones) android smartphones
blazing through on my 4G Droid Charge
idk but i hope your right anoninja. It would be nice to see.
I'm counting on JT getting CM7 finished and pulled into the CM mainline. Hopefully that will eventually lead to some ICS goodness in CM8.
How the heck does an old Windows Phone 6.5 get Jelly Bean before the Thunderbolt. Somone's managed to port Jelly Bean to the HD2 and yet all indications are that it will not get ported to the Thunderbolt. I just don't get it.

Because someone decided to spend the time to port it.
It shares the same hardware as other Android devices, that's how and because it's unstoppable and had/has a HUGE development platform.
DO WE REALLY NEED ANYMORE JB AND ICS THREADS????
SERIOUSLY!!!!
People need to start reading more.
In fact maybe if people spent more time reading instead of questioning,
then maybe they could contribute towards getting it working for us.
Just a thought....
Pretty tired of these threads though.
They don't help and the info as to why is already everywhere you look.
Not to mention that there is already a JB AOSP port being worked on for us.
Sit back and patiently wait, or contribute something!
You got 123 posts, member since 2009, and that is all you can come up with? Hopefully next time you read some before posting.

No kidding, all the posts about ICS and JB are getting old quick.
He probably just wanted to start a thread with the title "jelly bean" because it's such a hot topic. This thread should be deleted.
agree. this thread should be deleted or at least locked. this topic has been beaten to death, repeatedly. a quick search of the thunderbolt threads would find an identical topic incorrectly posted in thunderbolt development that was, well, not well received and got locked.
* Thunderbolt 4G *
I am actually quietly developing JB for this device, but due to RIM lock it is unusable as a phone. JB works and with the HTC dev tools you can compile it with the tbolt drivers and it works like a charm, except for calling, mms, and ya know being a PHONE, heck I have gotten this to run Ubuntu natively WITHOUT android, just wait or develop one yourself, please don't come here QQing to us, we don't care. HTC are very good at releasing RIL within a two year time period of releasing their devices, but VZW are very tight nit on their LTE and don't want too much information released for other companies to make LTE devices without DNA and DNR signatures. WiFi is confirmed working so if you use google voice and groove IP go ahead and contact me I will send you a link to my rom, but I repeat ALL PHONE FEATURES EDGE, 2G, 3G, LTE MMS FM RADIO DO NOT WORK AT ALL!!!
(long time XDA lurker first time poster)
*Sigh...*
So let me start off by saying, I am by no means a seasoned developer, just somewhat of a power user with a long time love for Motorola devices... Somebody has to root for the under dog, right? In any case, I want to sink my teeth into getting something custom running on the beloved Xoom 2.
To me it seems like it wouldn't be all that difficult now -- after all, we seem to have all the prerequisites for a custom ROM -- we've got root, we have a functioning bootstrap system, there are fastboot files available in case of a stuff up... The only thing we don't have is developer interest. To me that is really disappointing, in my personal opinion the Xoom 2 is a great device that could truly shine with a little bit of attention.
At the very least, I'd like to get CM10 running, after all, the MZ617 got an OTA update to JB, so the majority of the porting work is done... As far as I can tell, the only difference between my device (MZ616) and the 7 is lack of 4G and CDMA radios in the 616. In fact I see no reason that the OTA shouldn't work on a 616, however I don't want to run that risk and would much rather work on something truly custom that can be run in a ROM Slot and worked on, with the stock system there to fall back on in case of disaster.
Given that this hasn't happened already, I would wager that there are very few, if any, developers out there with these devices so I have a feeling I'm going to be undertaking this project on my own. That's fine, but this is mostly new territory for me and I don't even know if I'll succeed. I realise there are most likely threads related to topics like this already, but none that I could find dated past 2012...
I don't want to over hype this or give anybody false hope. Chances are, this won't work... But from what I can see, all the foundations are there for a solid custom build, there's just been nobody with the necessary skills to do the work. Hell, I'm not even sure I have the necessary skills, I've only ever ported a themed ROM which is nowhere near as much work as this.
The reason for my posting this thread is to gauge community interest in something like this. Personally, I'd love to see it done because I tend to not use my Xoom 2 because of it's old and inefficient software (does anybody else find 4.0.4 laggy and horrible?). I would benefit from this and it would breathe new life into my device... However, if there are others interested it might provide some extra motivation to get stuck into it. Alternatively, if anybody feels they have any talents or skills to add to this project then by all means, you're welcome to apply your talents. I'm going to look into using Git for this once I determine the best software to fork and work on.
N.B. Also, if anybody knows of an active mirror with the "Blur_version.0.268.4.MZ616.Retail.en.AU" fastboot file that I could get a hold of, I'd appreciate having some kind of fall back in case I brick my device attempting this!
I'd love to see KitKat on the Xoom2. Currently using the Verizon JB firmware and it's OK but a bit buggy, not sure if its this bad on a genuine Verizon device. If I could help I would but I'm an end user/noon so you might waste more time explaining stuff to me than the time I could save.

Here are all the firmwares available but I couldn't find yours.
An Asian modder got the MZ617 to get the jelly bean update from the USA Droid models and I made the guide for the Xoom2/Xyboard 8.2 to get that update.
So we already have Jelly Bean, we have root, and we can use SafeStrap.
All we need is a custom rom.
I have the MZ615 EU and I am very interested in this project. I'm not a dev either but am will to help out in anyway I can, testing, promoting and so on. I am currently desperate for an upgrade from 4.0.4, probably lucky to have even got that from Moto I know but it is quite heavy compared to JB and KK. Delighted I found this thread and best of luck with the project.

If there's a version of yours sold in America by Verizon wireless you may be able to put jellybean on it but my advice would be to not bother, it becomes laggy and horrible after a few weeks use so you just end up clearing data and going from scratch rather to often. KitKat with its low memory demands would be spot on.
Yeah, KitKat would be incredible to get if we can. My Xoom2 is in mint condition and still feel relatively new to me, I really don't want to replace it.

I'm thinking about using RAZR kexec and try something on this, tho I don't have time, and my resources are low, will be just a favor I'll try to do to a friend who have one and asked me what can I do to get kk on it. No promises, but I'll see what I can get from other devs I know of around.

I am also interested in this project. Xoom 2 is a beatiful device, too bad Motorola keeps a locked bootloader, but Safestrap is there.
Also, some of the sources are released online by Motorola.
So, did anyone manage to get anywhere with this?
I would love to see Cyanogenmod brought to the Xoom 2. CM13 runs great on my old Galaxy S3 which is almost the same age as the Xoom 2. It's a real shame nobody seems interested in porting it.

I was thinking about getting an ATT LG G3 and was looking around , but do not see any Vanilla android roms.
Do they exist?
Do you think there will be a Lollipop rom that can be flashed to this device?
Thanks

No and yes. Once the official or leaked android 5.0 drops for either the international g3 or att g3 our devs will pump something out.

There are aosp roms available. It's just that a few things don't work at the moment (camera has been fixed recently but bluetooth still doesnt work).
The problem is the aosp roms are tethered, meaning you need a pc and adb to boot the rom. As soon as the bump devs release the necessary tools, rom devs will be able to "bump" the kernel and have it ready for flashing. By then you'll be able to download and flash normally.
I think the biggest reason why we don't see more custom ROMs is the fact that the Bump team still has not provided a website or other method for developers to "bump" their work. These guys do this in their spare time (ie they aren't working on this 9-5, 5 days a week). Apparently they are struggling to get their website up and running as it has become a magnet for hacking attempts. Hopefully they will be able to get it all sorted out soon!
Once there is a bump method released to developers, they will be able to really concentrate on the G3 and I think you will see a lot of work released soon after.

I ask this out of ignorance and not impatience in any way, but. . . . Why is the site such a rich target for hacking?

Because they found an exploit in the LG bootloader so it basically paints a target on their back? Those same devs have had other successes with rooting other phones and what not. They are in my opinion very popular in the Phone community from their accomplishments. I think this alone makes them a target which is ridiculous. Whether it be jealousy or someone trying to make a name for themself or better yet a foreign country being mad that Americans cracked the code who knows. Actually I don't exactly know why they are being targeted lol. I am just taking guesses. I am sure their is even a possibility that Team Codefire doesn't know. Either ways its a shame that it is happening but it will all get sorted out.
Wish d850 could at least get a tethered aosp ROM
I bet we see some by next week. The tree is out. Should be good to go soon. I bet this thing is a BEAST when its running something slim.
