I find it interesting the iPhone 4 PRIOR to the IOS 5 upgrade was actually faster than the Atrix 2.
The tests where done with all devices sitting on the same spot on the table, in doors with the latest version of speediest.net app.
Also of an interesting note, the iPhone 4 was the *same* iPhone 4 for both iPhone tests, only difference being the iOS versions.
Not that any one cares about the apple crap, but I figured since it was surprising to me that a *non 4G device* (at least as far as marketing jargon goes) was faster until seemingly crippled.
The Same SIM was used in all of the testing. (iPhone 4 sim is a pain in the ass)
At any rate, it would seem the Atrix 2 is one of ATT's faster devices.. Any one else notice a severe increase VS other devices you've used? Any one found it to be slower?

When I was at my fathers house i compared my phone to his with a Speedtest. He has an iphone 4. I live in the city, i got an 8.63 mb download speed and he got a 4. 4 mb download. He was running iOS 4.2.
I have had an iphone ever since the 3G. Boy am i happy to have switched to android. The new iphone 4s still cant even connect to 4g, has only 512 mb of ram, no widgets etc. Technically all of the specs of the newer android phones (Atrix 2, GSII, many more) blow the new iphone out of the water. At this point, they just seem to be running on hype now, eh?

I am also getting fastest downloads ever - though not as fast as you. Here in Denver, 5.8 MBs download, 1.45 MBs upload. Faster than iPhone 4 or 4S.
However, I don't think the iPhones are just hype. Much as I like the Atrix 2, there are times when it freezes or stutters or just doesn't respond well to touch, even to unlock the screen. I don't know if it is because it is receiving system data from Android servers or what, but it is quite frustrating at times. With iPhone 4 or 4S, everything it does, it does well and smoothly and consistently. I still may end up going back. I like the big screen of the Atrix, and the fun of rooting and customizing, but it is certainly easy to understand the popularity of iOS, because "it just works" can be said more emphatically than you can say about any Android phone I have experienced.

Almost made the switch over to SGS II today. Went trolling through their forums and that phone is still riddled with battery drains like the OG SGS. no otterbox for AT&T version either. Rock solid device the ATRIX 2 so far. I am having issues with the SD card not saving the first camera pic. Need to return my card for a class 4 or 6. Oh well I'm sticking.g with this since Sammy pocket rocket and HTC vivid is too expensive.

I'll have to agree with cushcalc. Until you use an iPhone for a while you won't be able to understand why it has such an appeal, especially if all you see in a device is its paper specs and not how it actually functions. Its naive to think that the iPhone is running on hype alone. I've had every iteration of the iPhone up to now and have only just converted to Android because I want more control over my device and want to tinker (and I have philosophical qualms about apple and their walled garden), but after using both ecosystems extensively, I still say that the user experience on iPhone easily beats Android. It works better, its faster, smoother, more intuitive, etc. It has a lot of issues (hence my defection to Android), but it is definitely still a better user experience. The only thing that has come close is the MIUI Rom.

I just took my atrix2 back and got the htc vivid and will admit that the atrix2 while my speed test scores are about even the atrix just felt faster and much less laggy.
Not that I'll be taking the vivid back but the atrix2 is a great device that I can see myself getting again if the bootloader gets unlocked.
I think Motorola had built a great device with the atrix2, I feel its definitely the fastest phone out on att right now and my battery life was awesome with the a2.
It's too bad I'm the type that always thinks the grass is greener on the other side.
For those that say it doesn't deserve the atrix name or that It's a minor upgrade, go out and try one. It's one of my favorites but I'm an htc fan and even though sense bogs phones down I still love it.
Hope it gets root soon and unlocked. To those that might be thinking of switching, think hard about it. The a2 is a great, fast phone.

Untill i use an iPhone for a while? Did you not read where i said i have always had an iphone since the 3g?(over 3 years with them) Did you also fail to notice how i stated my father had 4.2 iOS? Maybe because i did the jailbreaking for him and only an untethered jailbreak is currently available for iOS 5. I am very experienced with iphones.
Anyways. Not saying i'm becoming an Android fanboy or whatever, but like i stated before i'm much more intrigued with the Android OS. iPhone is just very...SIMPLE. Sure you can have a VIDEO play as a wallpaper, if you want your battery gone in 3 hours. Sure you can advertise iOS 5.0 having a "revolutionary notification bar" which android has had since the start. Sure you can open alot of your apps to look at updates instead of having a widget display info without even going into an app. Sure you can use a laggy 3g connection that is bery outdated and wait for the slow recalculating with a gps.
Truth is, the iphone is for the simple sheep who simply need prodding along.
Well anyways that is really off topic. Sorry. But yeah this phone has great speed capabilities (along with all other devices with HSDA+)
Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk

Also the ONLY thing the iphone has going for it is that there are slightly more apps available. Just saying. But this thread is not about flaming iOS so bye lol

More apps at higher prices. I have NEVER gotten an apple product of any kind to function properly. They must despise me or something. Used Mac pros & get a repeated gray fail screen of death that doesn't go away & iphones that bootloop after I open the photo gallery, on an itouch I was just using the internet and and somehow after a few tilts, the screen orientation became permanently upside down. On a macbook pro I once opened iPhoto and the whole system rebooted and kernel panicked upon restarting. I despise them for all the problems I've had and their set at such a high price tag. Maybe I'm just very unlucky, but never had a good experience with apple. Android, linux, and windows (On a pc I built myself) have never served me wrong. xD

Twice over 7mbps and once upto 9142kbps here in Orlando on my Atrix 2.
I know lte isn't due here for a while but the Vivid is tempting.

At&T has dropped price on Samsung S II Skyrocket by $100, making it actually less than the standard S II. But I still like the screen on the Atrix 2 better.

Switch to Atrix???

Ok. I have had the inspire since it came out and I think its a huge upgrade from the captivate. My question is, for another $50 should I go to the Atrix?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
For another 50? It will cost me 100 more plus the 35.00 restoring fee. And I'm buying one today to compare to my inspire. I love the inspire but the atrix also looks nice so going to see which one I keep. The inspire screen looks much bigger than the 4.0 on the atrix, I have to see if it will make a difference web browsing n watching movies.
I'm keeping both for a while. Absolutely love the inspire, but those specs on the atrix are just too irresistible.
Yeah with an available upgrade you can get an atrix for $149 from radioshack. I went from a cappy to a surround to a focus (wp7 needs alot of work) to an inspire. I love it but the screen has some touch issues and it has locked up on me a few times. So I am a little concerned about that. Plus dual core is hard for a nerd like me to ignore.

Ditto lol......
I know dual core, but will the Atrix be LTE compatible?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
I loved the atrix at first. Then I tried my inspire. For me at least Android without htc sense just feels like something is missing. I came from a nexus one to nexus s to iPhone 4 and now to my inspire. The atrix seems like As close as you'll get to a pure Google experience on at&t at least. I'm tempted to check one out only because of the awesome screen and hdmi out. But thats bot enough to make me switch from my sense to motoblur. That's the deal breaker for me... if only the inspire had a fingerprint reader
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
That is a very good point about LTE. It may be a monster of a phone but there is definitely no LTE support that I have read about. From my understanding AT&T will be putting out LTE phones this year but not for a while.
Also good to know about motoblur. I am a huge, HUGE, fan of Sense. I came from samsung's horrible touchwiz so sense has completely restored my faith in android. I have read several reviews that were not to keen on motoblur and I don't want to get caught up in constant rom flashing like I was with the captivate. Seems like everyday i was flashing a new rom and that just got old.
Either way, I will never go back to the iPhone. Not unless they make major improvements to their OS. But thats for another thread.
unless I am mistaking the Inspire doesn't have LTE support either, right?
Inspire might not be LTE compatible either, but It's half the price and had a bigger screen.

Yeah, I loathe motoblur. I just got the atrix and I hate it as much as everyone else that I've read. The first thing I'm doing is loading on ADW Ex....
And sense is amazing. It should be the standard on android.
Just came from an AT&T store to handle the Atrix and the 1st impression was WOW, small screen, maybe because there's hardly any bezel it makes the screen seem dwarfish. When I placed it alongside the Inspire it was noticeably smaller. I honestly don't know if I can downgrade in screen size.

I noticed this too.....what a difference from the inspire.....hard to believe the difference is only .3 inches
I just checked the Atrix at my friendly ATT shop, and I'm not sold to exchange my inspire for the Atrix. Colors seem better on the inspire, but the whites look whiter on the Atrix. Quadrant and nenamark1 were amazingly faster on the Atrix. I also checked the laptop dock and I was not impress by it. I check YouTube @ 1080p and it couldn't handle it. Even 720p was jittery. What do you guys think?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
I too was less then impressed with Atrix so I'll stick with Inspire at least for now. Hopefully Infuse will drop soon.
nevermind ....
CM7 will never make it to the atrix and development will be restricted to the same kernel released by moto. So hell no.
I went to the ATT store with the intent of trading my inspire for an Atrix. I played with it for a few minutes and decided it wouldn't be an upgrade for me. I mainly use my phone for texting, email and twitter. Dual core can't improve that experience very much. Maybe I'd see it a different way if I played lots of games on my phone but I don't.
They even let me play with the laptop dock, which further cemented my decision. It really can't compete with even the cheapest of netbooks out today. Too slow, especially on pages with flash.
I also just like the massive solid metal feel over the plastic of the Atrix.
If you guys are looking for speed, our CPU overclocked to 1.6 feels much faster than the atrix. I'm well satisfied with my purchase.

how is the battery on the overclocked ROM?

And who says Sidekicks are for teens ;)

So I'm at work (I now work at UPS, btw) and this late 20s, early 30's woman comes in looking to ship a package. I go ring her total up, then I noticed out the corner of my eye the slide from the sidekick 4g.
So we had a short conversation about how we both like a good qwerty and how nice it feels. It made me feel good because my best friend, who has an EVO, keeps telling me not to get one because nobody has one.
I'm not one to buy a phone based off of popularity, but based off of what I like. In about 2 weeks I'll be (officially) part of the SK4G family!
It really is the best Keyboard in TM's Android line up. It just seemed to be buggy from the start, not to mention considering it's Samsung updates come once in a Blue Moon.
I've always liked the Sidekick family, even though the first Sidekick I had was the ID. It served me well until I lost my data plan. I heard the LX and SL or whatever else there was, were great improvements and now I'm the proud owner of a 4G. I love it! It's got the feel of a Sidekick with all the perks Android has to offer. My only qualms are battery life and (occasionally) speed and lagging. I rooted my phone, and it seems to be performing much better, but this is all fairly new to me, so I'll have to have a friend who is more experinced with rooting and ROMs take a look at it.
Note... the sidekick may be fully functional, and a great messaging phone, but it is also a low end smartphone. You will notice graphics lag everywhere, it won't hinder you from doing anything, its just not pretty.
What im saying is... don't compare it to the evo. Its a real shame that Tmo doesn't have high end keyboard phones. On the other hand, I can actually type faster on the vibrant then on the Sidekick. The bigger the screen, the easier virtual keyboards become.
My low end sidekick 4g is way faster than my cousins evo, sense bogs you phone worse than touch wiz.... those " loading" screens when going back to the homescreen are annoying as heck, and not to mention the repopulation of apps when opening the app drawer too... it almost reminds me of my old g1...................................

Now that I think about it, my sk4g was on par to Droid x / Droid 2 / Droid global on quadrant easily low 2000 scores every time.... I have a very technological family, we always compete who's is faster.....
Its embarrassing a $150 phone is faster than "high end" phones.... now nexus' are a different story ;-)

Who cares who its marketed to. I'm 21 and own one. Its just a phone. Beer is marketed to adults only, and its seems pretty popular to teens. I love this phone, and on top of its speed, it has flash. Not many high end phones have it either.
I wish the camera had a flash...my only gripe. I would talk this phone up to the end of the earth if it did.
I honestly hate the low end specs....i loved the keyboard and 4G speeds maybe even form factor. Needs bettet larger screen flash bettet cam etc...i had to leave the.phone behind

Even though the perfect screen size for me is 4'', this phone has everything I wanted. And remember, 1ghz and 512mb ram were at one time high end specs.
It was either this phone or the epic, which is the only other phone I like, ever.
I've always loved the Sidekicks, I've owned 3, but I decided to get the 4G Slide for my daughter.
It has the best keyboard ever, hands down.
I am in my late 40s and my wife & I have had Sidekicks since Sidekick II. Still best keyboard on the market!!

You obviously haven't looked at the Tmo lineup of phones in more than a few months.......
MyTouch 4G Slide...
Last I checked 1.2ghz dual core Snapdragon processor with Adreno 220 gpu(yes, the same gpu as the Sensation, Amaze and Evo 3d), 8mp camera, 1080p video AND A KEYBOARD would be considered high end.....
The Sidekick 4g doesn't hold a candle to the MT4GS...not one iota. Sorry to those I might offend but I'm speaking from experience.....as the SK4G and the MT4GS are a couple of the phones I currently own and use every day....in fact I'll go as far as saying I'd ditch my SK4G for another G2 given the opportunity. Giving up the G2 for a SK4G was a big mistake to start with as the G2 had a lot more going for it. The ONLY thing the SK4G has that the G2 doesn't? A FFC....who uses it anyways?

Exactly.
It's UNDERCLOCKED from the factory to 1.2ghz. It should actually be running 1.5ghz. If a single core G2 can be OC'd to 1.9ghz, imagine overclocking both cores..?!??!
IMO from what I have read the hummingbird kicks the crap out of almost everything on the market still in terms of graphics performance, I just wish we could OC higher like the G2 but we aren't going to get that kind of support needed for a kernel that crazy
I'd love a dual core but I can't deal with a touchscreen only phone or a crappy keyboard (tried G2 and MT4GS) I couldn't ever get speed like I can on a sidekick. I went from an LX to a G1 and that was a nice keyboard but every phone I had after that was painful to type on. I will be holding out until another phone comes out with a comparable keyboard before I upgrade from this one. A dual or quad core would be nice but I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything major right now besides being able to tinker with it ;P

Well not really. The Sensation is clocked at 1.2 ghz. And so is the Evo 3d. But the Amaze has a 1.5 snapdragon s3 processor. Different from the Sensation and evo 3d. Even if the it was 1.5ghz it still won't get the same performance as the Amaze and Evo 3d because they are newer processors. I believe that when you overclock a phone with dualcores it overclocks both core. Not just one..

Wrong and right. We can currently oc to 1.7 using the virtuous unity kernels but if you try to oc using apps like setcpu it will show as being overclocked but it only oc's one core since setcpu doesn't support it yet. So it depends on how you try to oc. However setcpu works just fine for underclocking both cores.

I have owned every SK since the B&W, with the exception of the slide, and having given the 3 immediately away as an "Oh Crap, it's your birthday today?!" gift to an ex.
Extremely solid phones, from my experience. Having been a Jr./Sr. High schooler through most of the models, I put them to the test. In fact, on multiple occasions I had pulled out my SKII and played hackysack with it. I also sprayed it to the point of immersion with a hose one day when doing yardwork and the lil guy just kept on goin. The 3 was a bit finicky, but I enjoyed making custom skins for it. From what I hear the slide was a piece so I'm glad I avoided that one.
My phone prior to the SK4G was the G2, and I have given a fair comparison in another thread so no need to do that here. I see the strengths in the G2 and if I were not a SK guy I would have been extremely happy.
Now, the only reason I've ever had to hate on the SK is the false market that they attempt to sell it to. When the 1st gen hiptop released I was 13. For as cool as it was, it was underpowered for me. They have continued to give me outdated or slow hardware ever since. I would easily have spent more money every single time for a phone that would actually hold it's own amongst the big boys for a while. Looking at this years model - Hummingbird... 512mb ram... 3mp camera with no flash .. really?
However, I love the design. I've been spoilt for fast typing keyboards (On previous models I would out-type the screen and have to wait a good 10 sec to watch it get typed out. Heck, I've written 3-4 page reports on the LX during the class it was assigned). I've been spoilt for multitasking via jump shortcuts. Bringing android into the mix was a great move.

From what I hear the slide was a piece so I'm glad I avoided that one.

oc'ed G2x vs Iphone 4s

I got my hand on Sprint Iphone 4s, and tried couple of things out, and G2x faster in most of web browsing, (Iphone 4s favor in nfl.com, apple.com, buy.com...). Only game I tested is Angry Birds, and G2x a few sec ahead. Why people overrated Retina display when the color is not as good as IPS? Also with the resolution that high make some game have blury looking, but when browsing internet the text look awesome, unbeatable.
Really not fare to compare an overclocked phone with stock phone, oh well, just for fun and made up a reason not to upgrade a new phone
G2x @ 1.4Ghz, Nightly 201, Faux CM 0.4.4, Opera is the main browser use for test.
Iphone 4s, stock browser (Safari), FW 5.0.0.
All test over wifi.
the 4s is not bad and the only thing i think apple products have is the fact that they get all thier needed updates always. The 4s had the same ios as the 3gs. I really wish Google would force this with our phones too!
I really want to see how much more power is inside this G2x but because we dont have ICS yet, I will have to wait!

the reason for google not having updates for every single android phone while apple does is simple:
Apple only has to worry about a handful of unique phone models while android has many more, each with different hardware which makes writing firmware updates difficult since they have to be tailored to way too many phone models.
therefore, in the android world it's easier for companies to make money by releasing a new android phone rather than updating old ones.
G2X is king of performance. Of course it will beat iphone 4s, maybe iphone 5 will finally catch up.
My G2X beats my buddys tmobile sgs2 in everything except internet speeds. In gaming is where the difference is most noticeable, but even in simply scrolling through pages my G2X is the smoothest phone I've ever played with (and I play with about every new high end tmobile phone, and anything Best Buy puts out a live model of).

Well in all fairness, TMO's SGSII is terrible compared to the Exynos versions. The S3 processor in that is probably the weakest out of all of the dual cores. But the G2x doesn't even hold a candle to the real SGSII's which have the Exynos processor and the all powerful Mali-400 GPU.
With that said... I still love my G2x.

Well still, there are a lot of different phones and hardware but that's no excuse to keep our systems behind the curb. They release the source and should require companies to enforce updates.
Apple has more control of its hardware and software.
Like I said they do a great job keeping their stuff up to date. Even the older 3gs.
I love my g2x just tired of waiting for an update and using in official roms that all seem to have issues.

you basically repeated what i said...
you're right its no excuse but android depends on the developer community due to its very nature that it is open source. Also since phone companies are able to make more money by marketing new phones, they do that instead

Enforce updates are definitely the key words. I'm surprised no one has opened lawsuits about phones with security flaws not being patched by the carrier/manufacturer, etc. I hope in the future the carriers and manufacturers will take updates a little more seriously, or maybe the pure android and manufacturers' code can be updated independently of each other. You may say I'm a dreamer...

I disagree here, the tegra 2 is at the bottom of dual core phones when it comes to memory bandwidth with only 2.4GB/s. The S3, isn't much higher above it at 2.7GB/s. Both of those SOC's are way behind the likes of the Omap 4460, Exynos 4210, and the A5 which all have 6.4GB/s. So I'd hardly call anything with a tegra 2 powering it the king of performance.

The Retina Display in the iPhone 4/4s uses IPS technology, the iPod Touch 4G is the only one that doesn't use IPS.
And I completely disagree, the A5 is much better than the Tegra 2, processor wise they are almost identical (note: Tegra 2 does not support NEON), but GPU wise it's really no comparison, I still like the G2x better though.

Lets put it this way... I wouldn't make the G2X an ambassador for Android phones. I had an iPhone4 but had to get rid of it when I changed carriers because Wind Mobile doesn't support any of the frequency's that the iPhone4 supports. The iPhone4 (or now the 4S) both kill the G2X! even though the 4 is not dual core. The retina display kills all of the Android phones that i have seen with its superior clarity. Only phone that I havent tested is the Galaxy Nexus, Can someone confirm if retina display is better or Galaxy Nexsus screen?.
If u try zooming in on a picture like X5 the iPhone4 will keep the picture crystal clean. U even start noticing hairs on ppls bodies lol. G2X screen on the other had gets blurry & blocky almost instantly.
As for web browsing on 3G... Iphone4 opens larger web pages (pages with ots of pictures or galleries for example) way faster than the G2X, but on wifi both phones are fast. I would love to be able to hack an iPhone 4 & install ICS on it.
Just sharing my experiences of both phones w u guys

Try to run Angry Birds on Iphone 4/4s and see how "clear" it look, I didn't mean retina display is bad, I just saying some games don't support that high res, and make the game look blurry, but Infinity Blade look bad ass on Retina, I never seen any game on mobile look that good.

[Q] Second thoughts

I purchased an unlock atrix 2 to use in my country and i'm having second thoughts. I'm coming from a berry storm so to me its a major upgrade. Reviews are sayin its a low budget phone n cant compete with top phones what are you guys opinion on this. And apart from the 1.2 ghz processor on the Gs2 how does the atrix compare with software features and available widgets.

I honestly wouldn't really agree with the benchmark aspect.
Quadrant:
Atrix 2= 2409
Skyrocket= 3075
Antutu:
Atrix 2= 5177 (unusually high for what Ive pulled before, typically it is around 3500's)
Skyrocket=6477 (beating out the galaxy nexus and only being topped byt the transformer prime quad core)
Both phones were cache cleared, app optimized, maxed stock cpu (atrix 1ghz, skyrocket 1.5, the sky can go to 1.9 but the benchmarks put it into boot loop at that speed) Both are running samung 32gb micros, and screen brightness maxed
One area that the Atrix 2 did excell in was hspa+ data speeds. Same location, the atrix would pull 12+mbps where the Skyrocket would pull around 8-9mbps. Kind of a tradeoff though because when the skyrocket hits LTE Im doing 50+mbps. The atrix is more of a development/ webtop machine as I dont pay for the phone or service (thanks att) and the sky is my daily. I was actually pleasantly surprised at the atrix2 screen as Im not a huge fan of moto screens. Overall I would say it is more mid level than high end. It is sometimes laggy and glitchy but Im sure as soon as the bootloader is unlocked and work really gets done on it, things will turn around.
thanks
So apart from the benchmarks would u say the Atrix 2 can do the same things that the gs2 r nexus can do...imma noob n this will be my 1st android
I believe this phone is right on the level with the other high end phones on the market now. Performance wise it is pretty quick, build quality is near the top, screen is a pleasant surprise.
One thing you should really be aware of when comparing this phone solely on benchmark tests. The Atrix 2 has higher resolution than a lot of phones it is being compared to. This is somewhat of an artificial disadvantage, since this only really hurts the phone's performance on the benchmarks, and not in the real world. Also understand that this phone is constantly compared to phones with overclocked processors, of course those phones will outperform the Atrix 2.
The Atrix, in my opinion is a miss marketed high end device. True, it is not the absolute best phone on the market, but the actual gap between the best phones and the Atrix 2 is very narrow. This phone is every bit as capable as any high end phone on the market, and at half the price.
So no one here would trade for an LG Thrill? I've about had it with the memory bugs on this phone and apps disappearing.

I think you would be perfectly happy with the atrix2. I work for Best Buy Mobile and I have a lot of phones pass through my hands (I personally get a new one every month or two) so I can be kind of biased towards super smart phones. For the price ($49 from bbym) it is an amazing phone. Its quick and capable of most things the sgs2 and nexus can do (sans ics right now). I dont hesitate to recommend it to people at all for the price. If it were 150+ I would probably not sell many because thats going into sgs2 territory and in my eyes the sgs2 line does have better phones, but at 150-200 dollar difference.

I posted my personal benchmark scores because I know that is what a lot of people want to see. Many people like opinions but will really make decisions based on real data. And yes you're completely right that there are some things limiting the atrix2's scores while not impacting real life performance. The atrix 2's release was right around when the sgs2 came out and completely got overshadowed. We didn't sell a single one for two weeks after launch. Only now when the atrix1 is free and the 2 is only 50 more are people really getting interested. I can honestly say though that the atrix2 does not perform as well as my skyrocket but its hard to really take those as comparisons. The faster clocked processor and much better graphics chip give the sgs2 line a more fluid user feel which does impact my opinion a lot. The atrix sometimes gets twitchy. I am excited to see some developement on the ROM from once the bootloader gets unlocked. I would love a stripped stock rom and OC/UV kernel. Or a nice vanilla ICS port. I hav been playing with the gnex for about 5 days now at work and it is really nice. Unfortunately 4.0 market would not allow me to run benchmarks? Idk how the gnex's score is in antutu then
Great reviews for the Atrix 2. Aesthetically, the phone looks good too. But we still can't ignore the fact that apps on the Atrix 2 will randomly delete itself whenever it pleases - possibly the only drawback on this beautiful device.

Most of the problems with the apps have been discussed in details and can be fixed. Make sure you have NO apps installed on the sd card and some class 10 cards dont play well with this phone. Notice I said some, not all. Making sure the card is properly formatted will also save you some headache. Now am I saying you should have to do this, No I'm not, especially with a new phone. But there are working workarounds to address the problems if you take the time to do them.
For the price you WILL not beat this phone and it will hold its own with the higher priced phones. Once we get some custom stuff for it, things will truly be different and in a good way.
I'm probably going to jinx myself for saying this but I haven't had any apps go missing and I have had the phone for 31 days

Beautiful Widgets is 10cents today on the market. It has nice weather and you can select between two different sources.
The only thing that is different about the A2 compared to its high-end competitors is its price.
At the person talking about apps disappearing, the same thing happened to me. They would usually reappear after a restart. I found out that it's because some apps stored on the microSD card try to get accessed before the microSD card is fully mounted, and it messes with all the apps on the microSD. For me, the problem app was a theme for GO SMS. Just go to "Manage Apps" and find the apps on the "external storage", click on one you think might be causing a problem and select "Move to phone."
I have owned other android devices and I was a flash addict, that's how I killed my captivate... That being said, I do look forward to flashable ROMS and other tweaks and mods for the A2. But, I can say that I have never been this satisfied with a stock device as I am with the A2. I got it at Target 2 weeks ago, it was free with a 2 year contract ... I am thoroughly happy with it, I could not ask more of a stock device.

[Q] Before The Blaze, What Was Your Daily Driver?

Before the blaze I was using a infused. What device did you come from? Do you feel like it was a upgrade?
Sent from my SGH-T769 using XDA Premium App
Before the Blaze (which is my first Android phone) I had owned a BlackBerry Bold 9700. So far I'm really liking this device, the only thing I really miss is having a high level of notification customization, a notification LED, sms and email integrated in a single messaging app, and whole device/sd card encryption.
I don't miss the lack of memory or good 3rd party apps, and the plastic screen. Battery life on the Blaze is not as good as my BlackBerry, but it's more than enough to get me through at least a days worth of work.
Before this I was using an LG G2x, which was a joke. Prior to that it was a Samsung Galaxy S 4g.
I feel like this was a significant upgrade from both, it's a solid device imo.
Sent from my SGH-T769 using Tapatalk
I am coming from the G2x as well. I think this phone is better, but I do miss CM7 and ICS lol. The screen on this phone is still a little wider, so I'm getting used to that.
I think this was a good upgrade, and that will be more evident after a few more months of development.

T-Mobile G2. It was an okay phone, but it was really starting to show its age.
I'd say it was a definite worthy upgrade (aren't they all?), most applications do open instantly, if not just 1/4 of a second, and I love Samsung's touchwiz UI, its simple and neat. I always hear that people don't like it, but I can never figure out why.

Had CM7 2.3.7, and enough tweaks to get the quadrant to 1200 or so, it was 400 out of the box. 600 to 748mHz OC without a fuss was a HUGE plus, and it was good for a cheap phone, only my incessant messing around hard bricked it
For reference, i've soft bricked my blaze like 3 or 4 times (twice was trying to change lcd density)
Before that it was all flip/feature phone junk, one WM5 phone but it was terrible at everything.
I came from the first Mytouch 3g. Started w/ Cupcake, but went to Cyanogenmod right away. Cm and Ginger Yoshi kept that poor little phone usable for a really long time. I used it for over 2 1/2 years.
Now the low side of my SetCPU is set at about what was the max for that phone.
Got this phone 5 days ago. Came from At&t for better rates, but couldn't afford the Galaxy S 2 so got this phone instead.
Was running Task650 AOKP on my Galaxy S 2 and I loved it. Hopefully more development will come for this phone.
ATT Nexus One, I'd still be using it (even though ATT's network speeds literally went to hell about a year ago) even though my bill was more expensive even though I had a corporate partner discount but the touch screen stopped working.
I guess you could say the main two things I miss about my last phone would be the LED that was in the trackball, and the superior audio quality for music.
Wow, I've had so many...
LG-P999 (G2X which when tricked out was the bomb...its in the shop)
NexusOne
G1 (rest in peace you started it all love!!!)
