Mad Squirrel's "Auto Memory Manager" App - HTC Sensation

It's on the market.
Has anybody tried it out? I'm using it and don't see any significant difference in freed up RAM for my Sensation 4G. Maybe it's just me, since I'm all stock and not rooted.
Still running Sense 3.0 and I fluctuate from 100-130 mb free RAM
If anybody is willing to try it out and see if it works for them, and let us know that'd be awesome! I'm guessing this app works well with custom ROMs, but just a guess

Personaly, I don't think there's any reason to use any "memory management" apps. Gingerbread does a good job of managing memory all on it's own. I think things like task killers etc are NOT recommended to be used.
Why do you need more free memory if you already have 100-130MB free?

I agree that task killers are unnecessary, but according to reviews this Auto Memory Manager works differently from a task killer. However, if it is essentially a task killer, then I see no use for it. I just guessed that maybe it was different because a lot of Android enthusiasts swear that this app is a savior.
I need more free memory because the minute I open up my browser and facebook, I'm well under 50MB free RAM and the phone gets ridiculously slow

You won't really notice any real difference unless you set a really high threshold for the settings OR you have very little free RAM e.g. less than 40MB. So depending on what setting you're using it is likely that it isn't doing much cause it looks like you're not actually using up your RAM.

If you can't get it from the Android Market for what ever reason go to Amazon app store and get it.

Link doesn't work. I had that SPB Home on my Tilt 2 and liked it. Very customizable, but it was a resource hog, so I stopped using it.
Yea, signed up for the beta testing a couple months ago and used it for awhile. Pretty stable and has good looks and no lag really.

If that's what you're running than that's a really old version. The version they sent allows you to set 4 shortcuts in the dock and 1 for the app drawer instead of the 2
It's a pretty neat and fast launcher except for a few things that may be just me:
-Look is a bit meh
-Can't place icons where you want them to (all gravitate from top to bottom, left to right)
-reeeeallly high memory usage compared to others (approx. 40-60mb, leaves some games running sluggish)
-Can't use live wallpapers (I would at least like the option to)
It's cool and different, but always find myself going back to even the stock launcher or ADW EX
I think I got the beta 5 back in December or January, but I haven't really used it since then. I just reinstalled it real quick so I could post some screens.

[APP] Eset Mobile Security Beta for Android

Some nice features
http://www.eset.com/us/beta/mobile-security-for-android
Good news! I use ESET Smart Security on my computer and it's amazing, hopefully this app will be good aswell.
Great post, been waiting patiently for their release.
Thanks for sharing this info, ESET is high quality software and I'm looking forward to test-driving their Android debut
It does not install on Optimus One CM7.
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk
finally, they released it, been waiting for this app for a while now, eset has to be the most comprehensive protection solution for pc's, hope it will also do a great job protecting our Android smartphones
It's running seamlessly on my Desire HD
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA Premium app.
it has included a call & sms/mms blocker option, no need to pay for another app to block your unwanted calls, works great on my SGS with very little cpu & battery usage...
Did you folks give it the administrator access it's asking for?
Also I'm interested to know how ESET plan to monetize this?
Yip. I gave it the rights it requested. Have since removed it. Nice app but not so sure I need it.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA Premium app.
This is great news! will buy at release (if i have at that time)
Been running it a while now in BETA and have to say you barely know its there just like their PC software. Doesn't seem to affect resources at all. Has anyone seen any reviews on mobil security software testing?
Should also say I am running on a rooted Atrix with Gingerblur (thanks to Kennethpenn).

Yip, I agree. But my question is this: is this app really worth having running in the background? I mean, it's using system resources and adding to battery drain.. for what purpose?
I'm sorry but any app has to have a darn good reason to have a place on my phone..! And I don't see what this app adds - even though I think ESET's done a good job of the dev on this app.

Tried this then tested with a test virus for android, didn't even detect it or did anything about it, all this while scanning my arc.

ESET uses very little resources on your device.
A good reason to have it is because its best in its field and because more and more malware gets added to the Android market or off-market evry single day. Not only that but having a AV/AM on your mobile device is just or even more so of importance as your desktop.

Okay, thanks. Maybe I'll load it again. What about animboo's post about ESET not picking up the Android test virus..?
Is there any reason as to having antivirus software on a the phone. (Genuine Question). I am mindful of where I am getting my application/games, even through "other places". Are these sort of software necessary?
Definitely not a bad app but I don't completely agree with some of its permission requests. Have never used a security app on my phone before and have been fine so far.
Does anyone know the reason behind some of the most prying permissions?

Is there any reliable test to back this claim? I have my doubts.
And as for Desktops, ESET was very good and almost unknown for quite some time but recently hasn't really done a good job lately. (check av-comparatives)
Runs great on my device (HTC Dream/G1). I have not experienced any bug as of now.
Its so smooth and barely uses 1% of my cpu. Scans are very fast.
Thank you ESET.

It said it was running 2.2.1 but the video was fake as hell. Our tablet does not have an sd slot yet in the video it said sd mounted and as soon as it got to the part where it shows the storage amount it blurs out. Also the cameraman conveniently drops the camera the one time where the dude forgets to swipe his finger yet the tablet still switches to a new page. From the looks it did not seem legit to me at least.
It's probably seeing the internal drive space as the SD card space.

If u notice the SD storage read 28gigs. It's reading the internal SD card as the external. So that's legit. And second the nexus s I believe didn't have a SD slot yet the option was still there and showed storage.

It is fake. You can see in the video without him swiping it transitioned.
Also when he turned off the light the video clipped
We already have a team working on porting android on it as we speak. Furthermore I do not think the resolution is proper
As per the documentation, maximum resolution supported on the Froyo is 854x480 (WVGA854) and it looks more than that.
The video is fake, please move on.
Simply ask for a dump if they have it, or gtfo and exit the thread.

Can't find a stable ROM, is it the apps I'm using?

I've tested several ROMs, Infused, Serendipity, DarkyRom, going to try gsinfused next.
I routinely have problems with a very laggy phone, I have a live wallpaper running(which I love), and I always have trillian running. Most of the time it's pretty smooth, but after a while sometimes it gets really laggy, even when I end all the tasks in task manager it seems to persist in this unstable state.
One of the biggest causes of this unstable state is when I'm using google maps, or using bluetooth in my car, this can really kill the stability.
Can anyone offer me any advice? I really like the setup I have right now, am I just pushing the phone too far? Or is there some settings I can modify to continue using the apps I like.
You could try wiping cache and dalvic cache in recovery whenever things get slow
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
Trillian. Live wallpaper. Looks like most of your apps are memory consuming, and CPU consuming. Google maps with navigation takes up resources on a higher side. Maybe try taking off live wallpaper.
As apps continue to stay in background running (not just preloaded ones) like trillian, the memory used by them increases with time, and this makes lesser memory available to any new app.

So it sounds like I am just giving the infuse too much to handle. Should I start using advanced task manager? Could that help in any way?

Keep in mind...both of the above mentioned Rome are NOT infuse roms ....so they will have some kind of bug in there somewhere...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
I've been flashing about 2 ROMs per week, all have their pros and cons. Of all the ROMS I've flashed, I keep coming back to what I call Old Reliable (for me), Sensation 1.1. No reboots, FC's, it's fast, stable and with the Modem/ kernel combo I run, I get 4+ to 7 mbps DL, 2+ UL on network, and 18-30 hours battery life, depending on usage.
This has been MY experience. I've had the same thing occur on the "newer" ROMs which no one can explain. Black screen, green Android, yellow block letters "kernel panic", then I have to pull battery to reboot. I do have a pic of this on my digital camera at home, which I'll post later, it's a strange occurrence.
Use dman3285's stock rom. Clean, fast and made for the Infuse.
[ROM]SGH_I997 UCKL2(Rooted, Deodexed, and Busybox)(CRT off)
But definately lose the live wallpaper. They're neat, but they really slow things down.

Not really. Using ATK to auto kill tasks only increases strain cos of the way how android handles memory.

Yup - I do one kill on boot to clean cruft, and will do a kill if something is clearly misbehaving, other than that - I don't do it and def. not autokill.
Probably live wallpapers is the culprit, they're notorious for being laggy.

Should be in the top 3 of any "must have apps" list out there (imo). Constantly updated & supported and has saved my ar*e more times than I care to remember.. if your still feeling cheap and know where to look the pro version's plastered all over the place for free but to be honest this is one of those apps where the developer deserves the support (again imo).

Short answer yes, totally worth it.
Because the pro version will let you go back to your homescreen (do not hit the back button!!) and tb can run in the background doing a restore or backup. That alone is a great feature. Another is scheduled backups, not sure if that's a pro feature or not though lol...
totally worth, you should buy it.
