I find myself looking at my phone to see who is calling and deciding whether or not to answer. My problem is that I don't answer enough.
Is there an app or a work around to disable incoming caller ID, or be able to make an "allow" list for those numbers I do want to see.

Bump... Is there nothing out there that can make it happen?

I'm looking for a way to identify unknown callers. I know that there are standard apps for these, but none of them seem to fit what I'm looking for.
One of my buddies showed me a setup that he had on his g1 awhile ago. What would happen is an unknown call would come in. He'd click the hangup button. The call would route somewhere and then back to his phone with the number and sometimes the name if the number was in the contacts list.
To test the setup I blocked my number in network settings and then called him. It showed unknown, he hung up, a second later my name and number showed up. From my end I heard no change or handover just ringing.
How do I set this up?

I'd be very interested in an answer too. This would help me no end.

This service has been around for a while.
Check out "TrapCall"
They use this as part of an alternate service because they also offer "SpoofCall" a caller ID spoof service.
It's a pay for service but works exactly as you explain, call comes in, you hit end, they process it and re-port it over to you with the caller info.
Hi all.
I have searched but not found. I miss a feature from my old HD2, it was possible to deny a incoming call with a sms. Like: I'm busy right now, call you later. Have been talking to HTC support and they told me to take a look at Market.
But I don't want to BLOCK incoming calls or texts, just the possibility to deny them with sending a sms to the caller.
Is there a workaround somewhere?
Anyone else missing this?
I have the option, settings menu and it's under calls or phone, I can't remember. I will check the location and post back.
Edit; It's settings, calls, phone, you should see it there.

Oh, it's there but it doesn't work.
Try to call yourself or when someone is calling you, where is the option on the screen then?
Thanks for your reply.
Does this work for anyone?
Checked as well found it but it does not for me as well.
Looking for a decent call block app with a specific feature. The feature I'm looking for is that it only blocks the call after specified number of missed calls. My mother in law is crazy and will call repeatedly until you answer the phone. I would like her calls to be blocked after 3 missed calls.

there is no better option . +1 for root call blocker pro
Avast Mobile Security does pretty well. Me and a friend use it, he was getting harassing SMS messages and Calls, put the harassing number in the block log and he hasn't had a problem since. Also it doubles as a Mobile AV, it's picked up every bad application I've installed (on accident ofc)

Interesting. When will the unblock this number? or we should manually remove it from blacklist?

Try this (you require root) -
Root Call Blocker - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fahrbot.apps.rootcallblocker.beta
Or a more advanced version which includes rules and full privacy mode -
Call Master - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fahrbot.apps.blacklist

There you are, a great solution for me is rcb.
I did a little googling on this & came up with nothing but call blocking subjects.
So I thought I'd ask the question here.
Has anyone come up with a way for your phone to automatically google search the number of an incoming call (that is not already in your contacts list)?
We've all let an unknown number go to voicemail before calling back, a liitle info while the phone is ringing would speed things up!
Well, kit Kat...it's a start!

I can't find this option on the Note 5 in the usual place under phone -> more settings -> caller ID. Anyone knows where the option is?
Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
That should be where it is. You go in settings and then call blocking, you have to insert the number you want to call block.
Sorry. I want to hide my caller ID. Not to block someone.

I don't know if you can actually mask your own number, to prevent it from being seen. I think maybe before in the past, where incoming call, it would read restricted or private. That I remember, but it's been a long time since I've gotten a phone call with restricted or private display.
