Hi all.
I have searched but not found. I miss a feature from my old HD2, it was possible to deny a incoming call with a sms. Like: I'm busy right now, call you later. Have been talking to HTC support and they told me to take a look at Market.
But I don't want to BLOCK incoming calls or texts, just the possibility to deny them with sending a sms to the caller.
Is there a workaround somewhere?
Anyone else missing this?
I have the option, settings menu and it's under calls or phone, I can't remember. I will check the location and post back.
Edit; It's settings, calls, phone, you should see it there.

Oh, it's there but it doesn't work.
Try to call yourself or when someone is calling you, where is the option on the screen then?
Thanks for your reply.
Does this work for anyone?
Checked as well found it but it does not for me as well.

If you search in the Development and Hacking threads on XDA there is a tool called, IIRC, Call Firewall, which might be what you are looking for.

There is a programme called 'Call Blocker' I used it on my Diamond, using WM 6.1, give it a go.
SPB Phone Suite does the job as well, they call it "Call Fliltering"

Looks like it simply rejects the call. If that is the case, the caller will be sent to my voicemail and I still have to delete it afterwards.
Call Bouncer is better. It accepts the call and hang up. No voicemail.
However, there is a problem I think would appear in all these programs. At times, I got a ring (or half a ring) before it is caught by Call Bouncer. I found this rather annoying.
Is there any apps out there that silents selected incoming calls instead of rejecting them?
Sometimes I don't want them to know I'm rejecting their calls, just that I wasn't around to receive them.

I have the impression that pocket call bouncer has an option to reject (accept and hang up) or ignore (turn of ringing). Give it a try. I've used it on HD2 but I don't like it because at times the phone rings once before the bouncer can take action.
Magicall does all that. It can:
1) reject (send to voicemail)
2) drop
3) pick up and hold
4) ignore (no ringing is sounded while caller keeps waiting)
5) handle incoming SMS
You can also set it to automatically send SMS to callers.

my most excellent buds.. the programs are all reactive stuff.. something has to happen for the programs to do something.
If you really want to let the person think you just didn't pick up his call, then just simply copy a silent ringtone and use it as a custom ringtone for the person... you'll never "hear" from him/her again.
And.. it just takes 30s to turn off voicemail.. I mean, you wouldn't want the person to wonder why is it that you have voicemail and he/she wasn't diverted there?

No worries...I'm using Callblock now and it works great....
Just replying moooxooom's statement that we should use a silent ringtone for all callers. Sometimes it takes just a little bit more thinking to capture all the usual scenarios.
Cool call management app - my recommendation
I use HTC Diamond 2 and recently came across a cool call management and call blocking app XBLOCKR. I first downloaded the Lite version from Microsoft Marketplace and was quite impressed. It has a great feature "Do Not Disturb" and alas it is not available in the Lite version that I was using. I contacted them through their website as they sell it for $ 19.95 which I feel is a reasonable price, but thought of bargaining
They gave me a code and I purchased it for $ 14.95.
It's a great app if anybody is looking for something different than call blocker apps. It gives you options to handle your call when it arrives as well you can pre-program. I am very happy having it on my Diamond. Check it out as they have a 100 call trial version with all the features.

The readme for Call Bouncer states that it ignores the same as Call Firewall does, this sending the caller over to your voicemail. The developers site for it is at http://www.ipocketpc.net/applications/Category32-Utilities.aspx (scroll down to it) to see if this is the same Call Bouncer you are talking about.
Best Call Managers
Hi
Check this one out http://www.pocketx.net/products/photocontactspro_ppc/
Allows you to set call management individually or in groups. Can set timed profiles. I rate this as one with the most variety of options
Hi !
I am looking for an application wich can block call instantly, without one ore two rings before droping call or redirecting to voice mail. I tried a few applications from market like SPC, aFirewall etc. and i am very disappointed. Every one of them droping call after one or two rings, so caller will realize that i have an firewall installed.
Thank you !
In order for your phone to block a call, it must know there is a call to block... It has to ring on the other end, or there would be nothing to block.
Gblocker is as good as it gets
I had iBlacklist on iPhone, call filter on nokia and those apps dropped the call instantly. The phones did not ring at all.
So, there must be another explanation...

If the call if rejected by your phone the caller can always know this is happening... however your carrier should be able to blacklist numbers for you in the event of mischief and in this case the caller will actually hear a "no such number" tone and the call will never be handed to your phone to deal with.
I'm not sure if your Nokia or iPhone solution actually managed a local or a network blacklist. If it was a local blacklist then for sure the caller knows they've been hung up on (even if it doesn't ring at your end)!
aFirewall the best for me

If you go to a contact, and then to go options, there is an option to send that call directly to voicemail. Phone doesn't even ring.
aFirewall is eating my batery very fast. And it does ring one or two times before droping the call (even more when it came back from sleep/stand by).
Refer to iBlacklist, i can tell you that it is blocking the call somehow before ringing - i tried to call from another phone and it divert the call to voice mail instantly, with no ring - sounds like network busy tone.
The same for Nokia.
Anway, thanks for your suggestions !
The best solution is the modified Phone.apk from Cytown. You can block the call
in the same way carrier does. Your phone never make any sound, or turn on the screen...
Nothing happens, like the call never exist.

Yes this works. it is already built into the phone. I have a few numbers set up this way already. Why are you guys using apps for this?
Because i don't want to add to contacts every not wanted numbers. And i need that application to manage scheduled profiles (again, like iblacklist - no, i don't want an iphone just for this app), so i can manage when and for whom i am availlable.
I know that there call blocker apps that can answer/hang up or send the blocked call to voicemail. But is there a app that can send the blocked call to a special message. Something like the phone disconnected message. So the person would think that phone was disconnected and stop calling period or you can record your own personalized message for that particular number. This message would only be played for blocked calls and the regular voicemail message would be played for unblocked messages. Is this already an app or can someone develop it.

Great idea! I hope something like this can be done... Would be interesting if you could just set an mp3 as the receiving message or something. Very interesting indeed.
Sounds like a fun idea, maybe someone annoying keeps calling you and you set it to forward to an mp3 file of a message saying this phone line is disconnected... not a bad idea but right now i just add them to the blacklist and let it go to voicemail
I don't use this particular feature, but Extreme Call Blocker Droid can do this. As far as I can tell, the program works fine on my Nexus One (eventhough it says Droid in the name). Within this app, look at the "Pretenders" list for this feature. It comes with like dialtone, snoring and a few others by default (and you can add more).
Google voice does this.
When you get a voicemail from them add them as "blocked", next time they call, they get a "this number has been disconnected" message.
Thanks just what I was looking for.

Yep, the two best ones are made by the same company:
Root Call Blocker (for general use):
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.rootcallblocker.beta
Call Master (for advanced users):
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.blacklist
These are the only blockers that completely block everything without turning the screen on. Need to be rooted though.
I tried a few apps on the market but when I ring my Hero from a number which is not in my contact list it still rings. I can set any contact to go straight to voice mail so it seems logical that an app could be developed to do the same for any numbers not on contact list.
Anyone knows of such app which actually does it for our hero?
Anyone? There has to be some one who knows
I use CallFilter. It works pretty well, sometimes it'll ring one time real fast, then go to VM. Only probably I've found is that if I'm on the phone already, it cuts off my call.
Yeah, I tried it but unfortunately it still rings for calls which show a number. It only works if the call has no name in contacts or unpublished number.
So the idea is really to just send anyone to voice mail if they are not in your contacts. I figured that if they want to contact me they'll leave a message and if I like to talk to them next time I'll add their number to my contacts.
What ROM are you using? If it's AOSP you can long press the number in your call log and in the menu that pulls up you'll see an option to add it to blacklist but that requires missing/receiving a call from it first otherwise I've used call filter from the market in the past which seemed to work well

if you want the specifics, i am not the man that would be able to tell you. but i would think this is something tasker is capable of handling.
I'm using stock 2.1 with root and some mods.
Actually, the stock 2.1 comes with an option to send to voice mail for any contact. So what you can do is make a group and put all the numbers which annoy you with this option.
The problem with ALL apps which block is that they still either ring once or somehow silence and ignore the call. Either way the call still seems to come in on display. I'm not just talking about the notification but the front display. So it seems like all these apps deal with this in one way; they simply intercept it.
However, the feature which comes with stock 2.1 does this properly and only displays a missed call. The phone does not ring and the caller gets the voice mail immediately. So Sprint or Google did something else in how they handle this. It seems like there should be an option to just let it go straight to voice mail for any numbers not in the contact list or just let the damn thing ring
Still not able to find anything working properly for hero
