[INFO] Cat NOVA What´s inside ? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hello
this bad sunday i tried to open my brandnew Cat Nova Android Tablet.
It´s sold actually by Hugendubel and Weltbild.
It´s actual an cheap Android Tablet with Android 2.3
CPU is a TCC8033
it should have 1,2 Ghz but actual it seems to be only a 1 Ghz CPU.
Good site for Infos is http://androtab.info/
You could root it using the [APP]SuperOneClick v2.1.1for example. There is a little trick, found by a member of the http://www.android-hilfe.de Forum
DU musst aber wenn er bei Step 6 stehen bleibt einfach usb abziehen, USB Debug ausmachen..kurz connecten...dann wieder abziehen und wieder USB Debug an und reinstecken.
Click to collapse
after step 6 you need to unplug usb / turn off usb debugging / reconnect hte usb for a short time / unplug usb again / turn ON usb debugging again / plug in usb again an let the SuperOneClick tool do the Rest.
This method worked fine for me.
To open the Cat Nova:
1. remove any connections ( power, usb headphone, etc. )
2. remove sd-card ( if there is one inside )
3. carefully remove the rubber band that goes around the tablet. It is fixed from the inside on the underside left and right from the connectors. Don´t pull it out here !!!
4. start removing it by carefully pull it out for example on the upper edge.
Remove it around the whole table and let it hang on the bottom.
5. now you will see the screws which are around the tablet.
6. Pick up a little screwdriver an carefully remove the screws.
In my case there are 11 Screws.
7. Now begin to carefully open the backside of the tablet beginning at the top.
8. Be careful not to lose the Volume control wipe ( a little damn plastic part sitting inside only been hold by a little nothing )
Be also careful not to break anything on the bottom of the tablet
9. Voila Now the tablet should be open.
Be careful if you remove any of the shielded Tape as you may rip of any flat cable !
On the inside: EM86_V3 printed on the PCB
some unused connectors an pads
seems like there is a place for a mini pci connector and a
sim connector
unused 10 pin connector

[INFO] CAt Nova / Rooting / USB Driver Problem ? Here is the solution
If you are having trouble to find the right USB driver here is a solution that worked for me:
Pick the official android_winusb.inf which is included in the official
Google Android SDK: developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html
Open the android_winusb.inf an add the following lines:
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_18D1&PID_DEED
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_18D1&PID_DEED&MI_01
Click to collapse
in the
;Google NexusOne
Click to collapse
Section.
Save the file an pick it when windows ask´s for it.
Now the Driver should be installed without any Problems so you could use SuperOneClick.
Only tested under WinXP / 32-Bit Version.

Is there any Option to install a custom ROM?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

Hi fgoeber,
nice pics. So do you have a list of all components. I'm very intressted in the camera-sensors. So do you know the name of the manufacturer ?
thx, uli

Hi
I have bought what I think is much the same tablet as the Cat Nova but with the difference that mine has internal 3g phone included as well:
aliexpress.com/store/701252/211239486-507494256/8-Android-2-3-Telechips-8803-Cortex-A8-1GHz-EM770-3G-Phone-Call-6-Point-Capacitive.html
So it is an Emdoor EM86 as listed in this thread.
I have noted that on the the cat nova homepage there is information about some FW updates:
tablet.cat-sound.com/index.php/support/nova-update
I am a bit curios to try and installing their latest update to see if it would work on my tablet but I am a bit unsure if the hardware difference would cause my 3G phone stop working. Also I am not sure if the Cat Nova updates only support german language... It seems like the Cat Nova team are planning future updates to ICS which is good news.
Or is there someone out there whos managed to install a custom ROM - I am having some problems with a nervous g-sensor and it would be nice to get rid of that problem.

I feel guilty here, and I am posting off topic, if this annoys someone I will delete this post (given this forum allows me to). I am a developer and one of my customers said that my game doesn't work on the Nova - as this is the only thread I have found posted by someone with intelligence, can you indulge me a minute or 2 and see if you can run: -
Edit: I cannot post outside links so please do an Android Market search for Solitaire 3D by Jonathan Barton.
Again sorry for the hijack, and if it is inappropriate I will delete it.
Thanks for your consideration

Hi Jonathan
I made a quick test of your app on my tablet Emdoor EM86, which from a hardware point of view I would say is identical to the cat nova, and it seems to work. The animations all seem to work. The only problem I could see is that part of the left most part of the screen is missing - a small part of the left most pile of cards is not shown on the screen.

I really appreciate you taking the time to check it for me. The chap said: -
leider kann ich das spiel weder auf meinem htc noch auf meinem cat nova spielen wegen der bildgrösse die gerade mal 1/3 des bildschirm füllt

Which Google tells me means: -
Unfortunately I can not play on my htc still on my cat nova play because of the image size just 1 / 3 of the screen fills

thank you
I thought he may have a custom resolution, but he says its 800x600 - which works fine in the emulator. I guess I don't have a solution for him then, which is sad because I do like to solve the issues. I guess with the bits of the deck cut off it's still playable for you though, so his issue is something else again.
Again, thanks for taking the time, and apologies to everyone else
Edit: re-reading that German is he saying it's not working on a HTC but it does work on the tablet? Nevermind though, its possible he isn't running my latest version which I believe sorted those issues!

No, he said it's not working on both of his devices, one is a HTC the other one is the tablet. It seems to me that the screen resolution is too high for the game as he said that only 1/3 of screen is used be the application?
Are you using a fixed resolution?
I will also try it this evening, I'm using a HTC Desire HD.
Please don't ask me which screen resolution I am current using.... LOL
Best regards,
Harry

Ok thanks.
I am really beginning to feel bad about this obvious hijack - can an admin/moderator please split this thread from my first post?
The app does run for all resolutions which I can test in the emulator, from 320x480 to 720x1280. It handles wide-screen well, but, it needs minor tweaking for 600x800 as that is so square like - I took widescreen into account but not squares! I have done a fix to handle that, but its not released yet. This work is rather complex in that I am rendering the game using the OpenGL engine and 3D perspective co-ordinates with the origin at the center of the screen, but the on touch events are 2D Cartesian co-ordinates from the top left corner. There is significant math in there for calculating both how far down the Z axis I render my objects to fit the screen neatly, and reading and converting the touches as to resolve what card was selected.
Hopefully my next version 2.3, should deal with all resolutions cleanly.
Again thanks for taking your time to look at this for me. Professionally I write accounting software, and have done for 15 years, it is unthinkable on my part to have a bug which I cannot fix / work-around (bugs in accounting software don't go down so well for some reason!)
Cheers Jonathan

Yes, it is possible.
at android-hilfe.de there exist a "custom rom", which is at least based on the latest official (but not released) ROM and has some minor bugfixes
not a big thing like CM, but it is a good start at all.
at least, with this ROM the latest Version of all Angry-Birds are playable, which seems to be a problem with the Original ROM.
[sorry, can't post a direct link to the thread due to restrictions here. Take a look at the Cat Nova Section, you will find it]

Battery
What kind of battery is in it? If i wanted to replace it with a better one? And the cameras as well?

Can I install CWM on Cat Nova?

I hope I am not the only one with this device because it really is a fun and unique Gadget but even Acer abandoned it shortly after release. I believe there is great potential in this Device, if we work together and share our tweaks and customizations. Maybe even play around with some Linux Distributions and once it gets released off course Windows 8. Preview worked great and the Windows 8 Keyboards will be a much needed improvement.

I am really hoping to find others here that have not given up yet and believe there is more to be done with it. As it is similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note in terms of, being between classes I would appreciate it if this does not end in a discussion if a Dual-Touchscreen is useful or not. Obviously I feel it has its practical applications while I recognize it is not something for everyone. As a little Side note my 86 year old Grandma asked me if she can have it. She loved playing around with Microsoft Surface Collage and for me that was an amazing reaction I never thought possible. Only problem now my Grandma and my 6 year old Sister fight over who gets to play around with the Acer Iconia when I come over.

For example here with KiesAir but manual initiation.
Note: It is a very special device from Acer that probably should never have left R&D. That said I am thrilled they did decide to release it. Unfortunately with the release of Windows 8 getting closer and Apple/Google trying to secure patents, all creative startup Companies producing Multitouch Infterfaces have been bought up and disappeared into these big Companies. For Example Bump Top Pro. If you ever had the pleasure of working with it you would never want another Desktop Interface again.
All Graphics were made on the Samsung Galaxy Note.

Bottom Screen Disasembly Instructions
1. Remove back cover plate
2. Remove the screws and disconnect cables marked in the picture below
3. Carefully separate the bottom screen from the case to get access to additional screws required to get full access to the motherboard. In order to separate the screen use a small plastic tool to move around the edge starting at the front and unhook it. Be gentle so you don't accidently break the plastic clips.
4. Be mindful of the cable connecting from the screen to the power button circuit in the right corner. You don't want to accidently tear the small wires that it consists of.
5. Remove all remaining screws that became accessible once the screen is removed.

Social Jogger can be used on any Windows Dualscreen Computer (does not work on single Screens). Just copy the Folder under Program Files/Acer/Social Jogger make sure you got the newest Version
If you look at some of the DLL's for the Keyboard it is possible to reconfigure the whole Keyboard and its look. But it takes time.
Usefull Hardware Upgrades:
2x4GB = 8GB instead of the 2x2GB - There are some RAM hungry Apps.
If you dont need that much space or if you are rich enough go for a SSD. It will speed up things allot.
Sidenote: My previous statement about 16GB Ram was probably wrong. I just got informed that using 2x8GB will result in problems. So stay with 2x4GB and or if you got it to work please post how.

I'm currently hunting one of these laptops. I plan to put linux on it to use as a primary coding system for school.
Maybe now I won't look so silly carrying my USB keyboard everywhere to avoid using the integrated keyboard on another laptop.
I see both displays are working under linux 3.2.
Anyone know anything about the touchscreen in linux?

Ghost touch
Hi guys! I got the answer!!!! DOWNLOAD from acer website the vga driver and install it. It wasn't a hardware problem it is a software problem windows installs vga drivers that are faulty so just install the acer one again and the ghost touch goes away. I have been a day with no ghost touch after I installed it. I used to have it at least once every 30 minutes. Happy day for everybody!!!!:good::good::laugh::laugh::good::good:

It is one of those Acer oddities where even Acer themselfes loose any and all interesst in the Product within 6 month of its release and there are good reason for this too. But the worst Thing is that you do not want to carry this Thing around. Any and all Drops would be fatal.
Acers newest odditie was the DA220HQL Smart Display with Android:

Acer is a creative Company but maybe sometimes a little to creative for their own good. I am just suprised that these Products even make it to the production line and dont end up as only prototypes, but for that I am very thankfull. I love these Gadgets just make sure you always wait for the Price to drop as soon as they realize they can never sell them all. Then you can buy them to Play around. Otherwise you pay a premium Price for a non premium Device/Toy.

Hi! I installed the drive few days ago and no ghost touch until now. I did use the foam tape before and it still there maybe you should do both install the driver and and the tape as in senpa.us.
Good luck
ghost touch relieved with foam tape
I used the foam tape 4 months ago and the ghost touches are gone. I do occasionally suffer episodes of touchscreen keyboard non-responsiveness when awaking the machine from sleep, however. This Iconia rocks with windows 8 pro!

Anyone doing Web design on their Note 10.1?

I have a few projects planned which means I'll be getting into a bit of Web design again.
I was wondering if this tablet / the Android platform has to ability to support web design in any way?
Has anybody tried this with any success?
Obviously the artwork is a given, but I would like to be able to create complete sites and upload content if this is possible?
Thanks

The most I have done on my tablet is keeping Wordpress sites updated... they have a pretty decent app out...
I understand this really isn't "web design" but it is in the realm.. thought I'd share.
Extremely plausible,
I'm a frontend developer/designer mainly working on Mac OS/Ubuntu, but lately I catch up on my mark ups while accompanying my missus on the weekend, she's in the beauty salon, I'm on the waiting bench with a cup of coffee, tablet connected to a usb mouse + bluetooth keyboard. Files are sync on dropbox (I use dropsync instead of dropbox app since it allows me to sync the way desktop app sync) or I simply edit from FTP (or simply offline edit, download my project to my tablet and work it locally)
I use these following apps on android:
- ES File - best free FTP/file browser imho
- Chrome - since we mostly did Chrome apps, this ensure the design rendered well on desktop chrome as well btw chrome android DOES support local file
- Droid Edit - superb editor
- Photo editor for image crop if you must (I prefer pure html/css for creating elements)
I mostly write HTML/PHP. Try it mate! Felt weird at first but somehow writing on Droid Edit mimics the experience I got from writing on Espresso/Sublime Text, well.. minus the code completion of course LOL
Cheers!
Same here.. The notes software thou will not TOUCH True web design software. I to use word press to push updates as well as c/panel app to do domain and email admin stuff on some non profit sites i manage..
I would say quick edits and add pages from page temp-lets and code from copy past or some simple editing while out and about would be great. NOT Full editing.. I Think the same for editing graphics on the note. I have 32 inch monitor and wacom intros on my desktop. Note is awesome BUT FAR FROM setup i have on desktop
I think I'm going to get the Samsung ATIV smart PC Pro (convertible laptop).
Full windows OS and i5 processor, all my windows software installed so this will replace my laptop.
This also has the s-pen and wacom digitiser.
So far I can't think of a better all rounder but I'm open to suggestions?!?
Thanks

I asked me the same question a few weeks ago and after a bit of research I found the answer for me - 10.1.
Its due to the more possibilities on android, less weaker than windows in the area of virusscanners (you always have to install one on windows) and the good portability.
In this Video (
) u can see some other devices like the ativ one. Even the "lag" in paintshop on ativ compared to the price difference in my country, it was less expensive to get a note.
So far, with something like Air Display, iDisplay or S Tablet ( stablet.co.kr ) (which, it seems, will be released soon) you can use the paint-programs on windows or mac with your spen (what i've read) with screen sharing or use ur note as a wacom tab for pc.
But one thing I don't like is the lack of charging/AC while using otg.
I build an otg cable with some extras, so i can use external usb keyboard, mouse, gigabitlan over usb (wifi disabled that time) and some drives and sticks on my 10.1.
With mouse its like working on pc and I can superfast dismount the otg to take the note with me.
Hope there will be a kernel soon or something to use usb power (or ac power) while otg. So far, it's possible through a trick and its not working every time - maybe I'll make a thread with my custom otg cable...
Oh, and the weight. ~600 gramm the note, ~1,7 kg the ativ ? Ough.
good luck.
ps: first thread and... Ich habe das "noob-Video" gesehen bei der Registratur. Und es soll verboten sein, Nicht-Englisch zu reden?

Quake 2 on Windows RT

Only created my account today, so I don't have enough posts to put this in the developer section. Maybe someone can help me out.
I managed to get the Quake2 source from Ids ftp server to build (with a lot of warnings) for ARM in Visual Studio 2012.
I've attached a screen shot and the binaries to this post.
All you need to do is drop the pak0.pak and players folder into baseq2.
Enjoy!
EDIT: should also mention that this is a native port (not .net or winrt) -- props to XDA guys for the hack!
EDIT2: for those with errors, keep in mind you need the pak files and players folder from the quake2 install for this to work (or you can grab them from the demo). Google is your friend! . If you encounter the famous "water crash" then run "sw_waterwarp 0" in the quake console.
EDIT3: For a joke. I've added the OpenGL Quake2 renderer and a software based OpenGL implementation (built from an older version of Mesa3D) as attachments. Given that Windows RT doesn't have support for OpenGL this is probably as good as its going to get without a port that has Direct3D support. While the OpenGL version looks much better, be warned.. it runs __very__ slow. If you want to give it a try, just go into video options and change the 'driver' option to "default opengl". Enjoy!
EDIT4: So.. in an effort to clean up some of the bugs, I stumbled upon KMQuakeII which has an 'unofficial' 3.23 patch for the Quake 2 source. I've managed to compile that version of the source for ARM. I was hoping this would fix the full screen issues, but it didn't. Regardless, there are probably worthwhile bug fixes anyway.. so I'm posting it here. There are also extra video modes in this version (very easy to add btw!) however the 1366x768 mode didn't work correctly on my Surface.
Well done! Link added to the list. Much appreciated...

Enjoy!
EDIT: should also mention that this is a native port (not .net or winrt) -- props to XDA guys for the hack!

cool, seems to run nicely, -just using one core.
At first : Thanks for the work!
But i get an Error :"Couldn't load pics/colormap.pcx
(on Surface Jailbrocken)
I can't manage to open it. It says there is an error.
Another question... I want to do it for Bluestacks. Do you know anyone that could've done this? Thank you.

Make sure you have the pak files and players folder from your quake2 install in the baseq2 folder. If you don't own quake2 then you can grab these files from the quake2 demo install (google for it). Good luck!
Awesome job!
I got mine working smoothly
There is some issues that often when I load saves the game crashed (quake2.exe has stopped working)
I have no idea. Save game works perfectly and start new game works as well.
Looks like this guy back in 2005 have the same problem (except he is using... Amiga?): ht tp://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=17808
Tanks i did not know that ;]
I Will get a Demo right now ans try ist.
Does it work with any Version of quake II ?

Yeah, there could be several bugs in it. This is built straight from iD's source. There are many other 'ports' of quake2 that have encountered and (in some cases) fixed various bugs. Still, its extremely playable even with a few annoying bugs!
I cant get mine to go to full screen.... is this usual behaviour?

Yep. The pure Quake2 source has known issues with full screen on "odd" resolutions. Given the time frame for when Quake2 was developed.. the 1366 x 786 resolution that is common today doesn't make any sense that's why its "not supported". There were some unofficial patches added to Quake2 many years ago to add wide screen support and more resolutions. A lot of people also fixed the problem by just using the OpenGL version (which I could also provide binaries for.. but its _dog_ slow). What I've ported here is the 'software render' which got very little attention once the '3d boom' hit. If I get bored, I may see if I can get full screen working in the software renderer.
Joystick or Xbox Controller?
App is cool and runs well with mouse or keyboard but I have tried joystick and Xbox controller (both recognised by WinRT) and app ignores both. I have turned on Joystick under options.
I didnt get any bugs yet.
But Fullscreen would be nice
Woww this game bring me so many good memories nice work!!!

Same here. 800x600 is the best resolution to me..
Btw can you load your saves after close the game and restart it?
For what its worth, I've updated the original post with 'newer' binaries and software based OpenGL support. The fullscreen thing is also bothering me so I'll put some effort into that over the next couple days -- hopefully its been fixed in a different Quake2 port and I just need to migrate the code over. Cheers!
If you don't mind me asking where did you get the source files from? I would have done this two days ago but I couldn't open the project files from id's github. I then tried quake 3 and doom 3 but getting those working is a different problem entirely. Those games have inline assembly in them that I don't have the skill to replace.

The source came straight from ftp.idsoftware.com. There is a lot of pain in getting a working vs2012 solution file and convincing the source that Win32 does not imply x86! Many issues with libs and older CRT functions too. Just takes time, patience and good experience with VS & C code.
You're absolutely right about Q3 or Doom3. They will require an overhaul and will need to be ported to Direct3D10+. Sadly I don't have the spare time to get _that_ involved -- though I'm happy to help if someone wants to lead the charge.
Cheers
Game crashes sometimes when I try to load a saved game. Also performance is far from what I expected. I remember playing it on my Nokia n95 with software renderer and it was fluid, on surface higher resolutions cause serious performance degradation. The more I use desktop apps ported to Windows RT(quake, dosbox) the more I think that tegra 3 suck.

Quake 1 (w/OpenGL) on Windows RT

Sorry for the 'general post' .. but again, I don't have enough posts to have access to the developer section.
Hopefully this will make someone happy.
After playing with Quake 2..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2097092
I took a stab at Quake 1. Code was only slightly harder to port because of the old MGL lib. Anyway.. here it is.. Quake 1 (with optional software OpenGL support --- VERY SLOW)
Game runs very well (non-opengl) and full screen support works nicely.
Because its difficult to extract, I've included the PAK file from the _demo_. If anyone has any issues with that, please contact me and I'll replace it with a binary package. As is, you should be able to just extract it and run WinQuake.exe (or glquake.exe if you'd prefer a slower experience!)
Enjoy all!
I just had to register to say: I love you, man. :good:
Awesome! Really thank you for your work!:good: I just finished the first episode without bug.
Btw, what files do I need to replace if I have the full version of Quake 1? Just pak0.pak or the entire id1 folder (except the saves)?
Nice. Played Q1 opengl online a long time

You should be able to just copy the entire ID1 folder from the Quake install. I'm not sure if the saves will work or not.. I haven't tried.
Enjoy!
That's AWESOME.
I remember playing Q1 so much on business trips on my crappy laptop so many years ago.
I'll have to try this out with my surface.
thanks!
Awesome! This is really great. I'm also trying to get enough posts to be able to participate in the discussion / porting of stuff to Windows RT. It's great to see such a thriving development / porting community arise so quickly!
Superb
This runs incredibly, I thought it would be fiddly, but it just works. I just need to enable mouselook and I am all set. I am also keen to get my ten posts up and engage on the dev thread. I have several things that I think will port over quite nicely.
I can't control the window that it opened in. Can't maximize (running in small window) and most importantly, can't close the game. All the buttons in the upper right of the window wont work.
Please help. Thanks.
(Post Deleted)
does it work with controller (xbox)
has anyone tried using the d3d wrapper as described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42277354&postcount=29 ?
I don't have a surface, but i've been quite interested in getting one as the prices are < $200 now.
If the surface only had STEAM support I would have gotten it day 1.

The "Complete" sensation rom

Brown=Test Done

Hi Guys!!! :victory:
Even if it seems I’m a New User, I’ve been reading on your website for very Long time and I gained a LOT of experience with android phones thanks to you GENIUS DEVELOPERS and I’m sure I can share my experiences in this forum to help as well as been helped!!
Now, after days and days of research, tests and missed sleep hours, :silly: with Proper ROM, Kernel and Accessories I “ALMOST REACH” my final dream Phone thanks to you guys!
Wait, I’ll explain...
Basically my Girlfriend has the Samsung Galaxy S3 and I have my HTC Sensation XE...and the S3 is one of the most "complete" phone I’ve ever seen! It does EVERYTHING I’ve always wanted from my phone....by “Stock”!!!!
Now, I’m SURE you can understand me guys...I saw what an Android phone can do and I KNOW my sensation XE has the potentiality to do MUCH MORE that the limits that HTC put on his stock ROM without modify any hardware so it can become as powerful and complete as, let’s say, a mini-S3!
This is become my challenge, my goal (and MY OBSESSION! ) and after AGES...I ALMOST reached it....I’m very Close and I need your help and I’ll offer mine as well to make the “FINAL SENSATION ROM”!!
Now, after this LONG and BORING introduction:
What I want from my Sensation XE is basically the most “Complete” phone possible:
1- OTG USB “Fully Working”
2- Bluetooth drivers compatibles with applications like Sixaxis to connect the PS3 controllers
3- Keep a “Fully Working” MHL-HDMI
4- Keep a “Fully working Beats” and the compatibility with the mic and the play\pause\next\prev buttons integrated on the Beats cable for Sensation XE
5- Increase volume Loud-Speakers
6- Improve Battery
7- Improve Camera
8- Improve performance and boot time
9- Various personalization
And now I’ll share all my experiences:
--I first Fully rooted my phone
--Flashed PG58IMG.zip with Firmware 3.33.401.6 for ICS ROMs (HBOOT-1.29, Radio 11.24A, 4Ext 1.0.0.5-RC9, ADSP) ALL IN ONE!!
--Tried the first ROM:
Sense-o-Maniac - Sense4.1 v1.2.0
1- OTG USB not working
2- Bluetooth drivers NOT compatibles with applications like Sixaxis to connect the PS3 controllers
3- MHL-HDMI video-out not working (only audio and black screen)
4- “Fully working Beats”
5- Better volume Loud-Speakers
6- SUPER Improved Battery
7- Improved Camera
8- Improved performance and boot-time
9- Few personalization and tweaks
--Then I added the “Overclocked_kernel_v1.5.2_by_SebastianFM” to the ROM and magically I had:
Sense-o-Maniac - Sense4.1 v1.2.0 + Overclocked_kernel_v1.5.2_by_SebastianFM
1- OTG USB working 90%; keyboard, mouses and even cabled PS3 controller perfectly working BUT to Mount Hard drives and pen drives it was necessary the app “USB\OTG HELPER” and to mount another sensation as USB-Disk-Drive it was necessary the app “USB Host Controller”. No “system support” so no auto-mount hard drives, USB-Storage not listed on “settings\storage\” after the “Internal Storage” and the “SD Storage” and no media-scan of the USB-Storage’s content in the gallery (No images from USB device appear in gallery, no songs in music, etc)
2- From 2 to 9 pretty much the same.
--then I discover the GENIUS KERNEL “PYD-X - 3.8.1 beta – ViperS” and another point of my list was working:
Sense-o-Maniac - Sense4.1 v1.2.0 + “PYD-X - 3.8.1 beta – ViperS” kernel
1- OTG USB working 90%; Everything like the Overclocked_kernel_v1.5.2_by_SebastianFM plus the tests done with the “Sixaxis controller” app and the “PS3 PairingTool” which don’t “sense” the PS3 controller via OTG (even if buttons and sticks works around the menus) and keep asking to insert the controller via USB to change the PS3 Controller Bluetooth MAC-Address
2- Bluetooth drivers COMPATIBLE with applications like Sixaxis Controller (v0.5.7 only) to connect the PS3 controllers (after change the controller’s Bluetooth MAC-Address by PC) but it cause the WiFi to stop working until the reboot
3- From 3 to 9 pretty much the same.
--Then I decided to try other ROM:
Elegancia-Sense4.1-v3.2.0
having EXACTLY the same results.
--and keep trying and trying I suddently had MUCH better results with:
“ViperS_1.6.2” ROM + “PYD-X - 3.8.1 beta – ViperS” kernel
1- OTG USB working 90%exactly like in the 2 previous ROM
2- Bluetooth drivers COMPATIBLE with Issues exactly like in the 2 previous ROM
3- MHL-HDMI --working-- PERFECTLY!! (after turn it on in the Venom Tweaks Misc Menu)
4- Fully Working Beats like previous 2 ROMs
5- MUCH Better volume Loud-Speakers(The Best!)
7- Slightly less Improved Battery than the other 2 ROMs
6- Same Improved Camera
8- Improved performance and boot-time
9- LOADS and LOADS of personalization, tweaks and BEAUTIFUL ANIMATIONS of the menus
--so at this point I was quiet satisfied of the results but I wanted to fix that problem with the Compatible Bluetooth drivers and the WiFi so I tried the last test version of Pacha’s Kernel
“PYD-X 4.1.9 + kernel reset (non-bootloop)”
But somehow it broke the MHL-HDMI even on ViperS ROM
so I went back to the 3.8.1 version and changed ROM to the Rock Solid
Android_Revolution_HD-Sensation_6.8.0_XE + “PYD-X - 3.8.1 beta – ARHD” Kernel:
1- OTG USB working 90% exactly like all previous ROM
2- Bluetooth drivers Sixaxis-COMPATIBLE with NO ISSUE AT ALL!! Wifi and Sixaxis worked perfectly at the same time!
3- MHL-HDMI --working—PERFECTLY!!!
4- Fully Working Beats like previous 3 ROMs
5- Same Loud-Speakers volume as stock
6- VERY Improved Battery
7- No much Improved Camera (I hate the sensation stock camera!!)
8- Improved performance and boot-time
9- Almost no personalizations at all so a little too “STOCK-Look”
--so at this point I was VERY happy but I decided to try anyway few AOSP ROM without sense and the tempting JellyBean:
CyanogenMod-10-20130109-bruce2728-pyramid,
OpenSensation2-20121210-pyramid
And the best of the 3 AOSP in EVERYTHING I tested:
AOKP_pyramid_unofficial_Jan-20-13
1- OTG USB working 100%!! The System recognized and mounted instantaneously (without any app) all USB-Drive I tested and all the media in the USB magically appeared in Gallery and Music. “USB Storage” was now listed in “Setting\Storage” and it perfectly “sensed” and paired the PS3 Controller without the any PC’s Help.
2- Bluetooth drivers Sixaxis works quick and FLAWLESS without any issue already at “Method 1” of the Sixaxis controller app
3- MHL-HDMI sound ok but the video out is full of issues and instable
4- Workaround for the beats that seems to bring the good enchanted beats sound but loses somehow the compatibility with all the buttons (play\pause\next\prev) integrated on the cable
5- Improved volume Loud-Speakers
6- Improved Battery
7- Improved Camera (I personally still prefer the VenomS’ Camera)
8- SUPER Improved performance and boot-time!! The phone is SUPER SMOOTH, it boots in HALF TIME of other ROMS!!
9- LOADS of personalizations and a general sensation of smoothness and pleasure for the eyes with all the animations
CONCLUSIONS:
I thank you very much all who had the patience to read this until the end, I say sorry for my English and if I said something stupid feel free to correct me and PLEASE guys (since I'm NOT allow yet to write in Development session), make sure Venom Team, ARHD Team, AOKP Team, xXxPachaXxX, SebastianFM and Every Sensation Developer (sorry if I don't Name ALL of you  ) read this so they may see which are the good and bad points of them ROMs, collaborate and make the best Complete ULTIMATE SENSATION ROM!!
I will help as much as I can with Donation and to test on my phone, Just let me know which Log you need and I’ll Post!
Ps.
Love you Guys!! :good:

I don't think any of the developers I mentioned (or not) do even know yet of this thread existence...:crying:

On that note, don't worry about devs not knowing what's good and bad about their roms.
Presidential candidates aren't as scrutinized as a new rom on XDA.
If something doesn't work on a new rom, the dev will hear about 25 times in the first hour, then another 30 times after he corrects the problem and posts a new bug free build. And then some idiot will show up 3 weeks later without searching the thread and ask why he's getting that bug even though he hasn't updated his rom to any of the 20 newer builds since the bug was fixed.
Pick any rom development thread...at random...read the whole whole thing, and you will see this pattern repeat itself over and over and over. Try not to get too annoyed by it...but it's hard to remain calm sometimes.
So while your guide is great for other users trying to pick which ROM is the best one for their needs, you're not telling developers anything they don't already know. It's great information, but it's other users who will benefit from it.
You have really done a good work n I feel u have seriously searched a lot and made a systematic thread this vll surely help newbees to select roms n get some knowledge......

Skipjacks thank you for your replies, they are always constructive!
Believe me I read few >>FULL<< threads and I know EXACTLY what are you talking about...sometime it’s just FRUSTRATING!!!
I’m VERY happy to help other users but the reason I would like some of the developers to read this thread as well, is because it’s not a “this doesn’t work, please fix it”-thread, but more like “this doesn’t work here but it DOES WORK in there but there doesn’t work this but it WORKS in here”-thread, so the Genius Developers can help each-other “fusing” all the working features and make the “Complete-Sensation”
I also would like them to know that I'm offering my help as a tester since I have a spare sensation, OTG Cables (powered and not powered) and MHL cable and I think they may need “Hamsters” like me to try on their new betas!
Anyway I guess I will just wait until I’m allowed to write in developers thread and place a link to this thread, all I want is to be helpful! :fingers-crossed:
