Are there any way rooting GS4G with Mac OS X? Thanks!!

I don't know about just straight rooting but you can flash one of the one-click kernels that has root. All it requires is a working Java installation on your Mac.

I have tried bt5 and debian and no luck i tried with titan kernel instead of stock and no luck, i contacted developer and he said to try other roms. What error do you get? Mine says something about trying to mount then says no directory but now in the latest update it gets stuck on first line of code

I was wondering if anyone ever managed to install gentoo on our device, and if so is it on top of android or dual booting? Also if anyone has that tremendous capability, could please provide a guide (preferably step-by-step). Cheers.

Shouldn't be much different from the Backtrack installation, just replacing it with the ARM version of Gentoo.
I want to start creating ROM's and need a Linux based OS so I'm downloading Ubuntu 12.04. Is this OS a good one to use, or should I have downloaded an older version?
I'm a complete n00b in Android developing, so I'm currently in the process of reading FAQ's and guides on here and Google.

hi, 12.04 is relatively new and has compatability issues regards compiling (did for me), I used 11.10 for cm7/9 if you wish to compile aosp ics/jb then use 10.04.4 (lucid) 64bit this is used by android aosp team to compile, you should have no problems with it, providing the build environment is setup correctly
Where can I get v10 or 11 from? I've downloaded and installed 12.04 but couldn't find the others.

No idea yet. Might try following a few guides on here like Sakinda's guides at creating CM9 and Evervolv and see how they go.

It dual boots for me. I installed it with the Windows installer, wubi.exe, burned to a disk and it let me install alongside Windows with a 30Gb partition.

I'm using 11.10 64bit that LiVeRpOoL-FaN posted on the first page. I can't remember how I did it but I burnt it to disk and installed it alongside Windows, so I have the option which I want to load at boot up.

Ubuntu has been released for android. Will our devices be able to run it? If so, will it run well?

I get the feeling it won't work too well if it works at all.
I'm placing emphasis on dual-core on the website below.

What about apps?

No they cannot but they should be easily portable since android and Ubuntu for android use the same kernel.

This thread is surely aimed at Ubuntu Phone, not Ubuntu for Android, no?

I'd like to see this ported to DS, especially as my contract runs out soon!
Sent from my Desire S using Tapatalk 2
I belive that it will be realised
So, if some kind soul ports it (We are actually talking about Ubuntu phone, but not Ubuntu for android right?)
would it pop up on the android development forum?
Ubuntu
How big is this Ubuntu and more important could a sort of dual boot setup be created like on a PCM so the android os could be primary and perhaps Ubuntu could be on a partition on the flash card.
I got a 64gb sd card class 10 so I'm looking for ways of using my space creatively
