Hey Guys,
I had a quick question... I just installed Clockwork Mod on my Nexus S, my only real reason for doing this was to wipe my battery stats so that I can (hopefully) extend my battery life a bit. I really want to get the stock rom from Google for ICS in a few weeks (have used custom ROMS in the past, but want to get this one stock ), will having CWM prevent this?
Regards
Trevor
If I remember correctly loading the Nexus Stock Image from ROM Manager will reset the bootloader and recovery.

Im wondering the same thing.
And about battery stats wipe, you could download battery callibration from market, it does the same thing - wipes battery stats file.

You do realize there is a dedicated Q & A section for the Nexus S right? how do you go directly into the development forum without even glancing at the Q&A forum...fail, please don't ask questions here
Sorry it sounds harsh, but it's annoying seeing questions here when I'm looking for ROMs/Kernels lol just read rules before posting.

Hi all.
Perhaps this is a newbie query but here you go.
I've been flashing stock rooted OTA's from the beginning, and always chose Odexed over Deodexed I suppose because of file size. Now, I'm looking to diversify and have the ability to theme etc.
Can I flash a deodexed over an odexed rooted 4.53.651.1 OTA with out data loss?
I assume I can just wipe dalvik, and cache then apply yes?
The specific thread I'm referring to is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17642327&postcount=1
As I'd like to incorporate this with out flashing an entirely new rom. I'm cool with stock rooted goodness.
Thanks!!
This is not a question board
This is not a question board. Might want to post that HERE
I don't think you can flash a deodexed over odexed...reason being the deodexed ROM will just overwrite the current files without removing the .odex files from the system...
But you could probably get away with it it you wiped System, Dalvik and Cache (keeping Data) before flashing the Deodexed ROM. I have always wiped System before flashing a ROM just as a precaution but I believe flashing a ROM already does that.

Thanks. However if you don't know the the answer to the question, despite it being placed in the "wrong" thread, why do you feel the need to moderate it? Thanks to the others for their replies.
Take a pill man.. Jesus.
cuz if its not moderated, idiots who cant read properly will continue to spam the developent thread with stupid questions

Excuse bigdee. Some people just get frustrated with the fact that people post questions in the development section when there is a questions and answers section the same place one will find development. Others assume people read the forum rules and investigate the forum structure before posting. I wouldn't say he was moderating, more so informing you of where to post questions so threads like these don't end up where they are not supposed to.
Hope you understand

Questions or Problems Should Not Be Posted in the Development Forum
Please Post in the Correct Forums and Read THIS
Moving to Q&A
After 6h hours I have 30% of battery left and the biggest consumer is listed as "Android OS" with 22 min of CPU used. What is exactly "Android OS" and why it takes so much CPU?
You'd get an answer quicker if you posted in the correct section. Try the Q&A section

As far as I know there is no agreed upon "cause".
any of the following should help correct it for now:
Restart the phone- has worked for me before
re-flash ROM/kernel
flash new radio
factory reset
check recently installed apps/ system settings
I don't see the issue...

Posting questions in development. Is a big no no. Questions belong in q&a ...

I was wondering from user preference what is the best custom rom for the skyrocket? I have jellybean and love it but I want to overclock the processor just dont want a OS that's buggy and inconvenient for daily use.
I know there any probably many threads about this just wanted to start my own before I go rom happy
My skyrocket is rooted from ordin and I have twrp recovery.
I have never actually flashed a rom on a android just rooted several. I am getting the gs4 next week just want to have a little fun with my skyrocket in the meanwhile.
Thanks.
mod please move
didnt mean to post a question in this section, my bad.
No best rom threads are allowed! If you want to go flash happy before you get your S4 try them all out pick the one best for you.

+1
Only you can decide what ROM is best for you. Do your research, read the threads (take the time and read the whole thread!) And make your own choice.

Dude really...
if you read my stickies you would have seen the those questions aren't allowed, its a forum/mod rule and will be eventually locked
my suggestion is to read the stickies before you start flashing away as its obvious you haven't
from the sticky "read this b4 posting", its a post above your post
28) Q. which rom is the "BEST" rom or any adjective thereof for a rom
A. do not ask as it will be locked by the mod, read about them in the dev forum and decide on your own

I started flashing more than one month ago and I started with the most popular (threads with a lot of posts) / recent ones.
Backuping and restoring is so easy with TWRP. So, keep your prefered ones as backups and make a choice!
If you to overclock, check the OP, it's always mentionned.
Good luck. And read
As mentioned, you really need to try them.
But I understand why you are asking as for the less technically competent user (i.e. me) its hard to easily flash and switch, and its hard to really gauge all the differences.
I do think its personal and depends on what you are looking for.
I can tell you for me I have tried a few and settled on Embryo. Its very stable for me, and with others I found myself having to do a level of troubleshooting and diagnosis that, while easy for others, was hard for me. And so that wasnt a good tradeoff for me. I wanted something stable and easy to tweak and use, even if its at the expense of slightly slower performance, etc. But thats a very personal decision, and everyones results vary depending on their phone, apps, usage, etc.
Thats why people are so reluctant to answer these questions - they arent trying to be difficult!
Good explanation. People aren't trying to be difficult, just tired of answering this question.

I am new to the Nexus 5 and I've been reading threads very thoroughly.
Does anyone have any suggestions for ROMS and/or KERNELS that would basically give me high customization of the UI (notification bar, top bar) and also an option for high battery optimization (like a power saver mode).
Thanks everyone!

dont make best rom threads.
go look in the dev section and try some out yourself.

Thanks, I'll do that.
We do not allow best ROM/Kernel threads as mentioned in the sticky thread at the top of this section HERE
