Dungeon Defender wrong resolution - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Themes and Apps

I don't know whether this is the right sub forum but I hope so.
I installed dungeon defender to see the while awesomeness of my new toy and well it's awesome
But it's spoiled a little by a really nasty bug. The game is played in landscape and at the bottom edge something is missing :-(
I'm quite confused about this. I would expect such a bug on device with 1280*720 rather then on 1280*800 because it looks if a little to great resolution was chosen and not enough screen to display.
Anyone else experienced this bug too?
p.S. In quadrant I am missing some pixels too at the bottom, in landscape and portrait but one a few.

that's strange.
I reported the bug to the developer, but without any reply.

this seems to be a bug they introduced in second wave.
if you run first wave, in the options you have the ability to choose between tablet and phone ui which fixes it.
but then when you update to second wave, back to square one.

This is a fantastic app! I'd love to see this concept expanded into more weather and eventually a weather app.. Rain falling would be amazing! Quick note, while it runs on ICS the settings screen is tiny and not usable.

For sure. It's attached.
The menu works perfect on gingerbread, just not here
The only problem using toast message for animation is the intense battery drain..other than that, this is one of the best apps I've ever seen because it's so unique

Hi,
Try to uninstall and reinstall the app. I have noticed a bug happening from time to time on the free version - in the next update I will fix this and also add the option to switch from shake mode to continuous mode.
Plese let me know if reinstalling it fixes the bug.
Thanks for the feedback.

Actually I've spend a good amount of time on finding and applying different optimisations to lower the stress of rendering the overlayed snowflakes; from what I've noticed, on most phone models I tested the app on, the battery drain is barely noticeable. Of course, I have only tested it on a limited number of phones. Could't get my hands on the T989 to test on
Also the battery drain depends a lot on device model, number of snowflakes, if the timeout of the snow is set or it is running continuously, etc. etc.
I still got some improvements on the "menu" for the next update.
Thanks for the feedback!

I've been testing different configurations to see what works best, and this is what I've found.
I get the most optimal performance and least battery drain when set to run continuously, (shake turned off, no time out). It barely affects battery life although it still shows a high percentage in the battery stats - higher than the display, Android system, etc. but the actual battery drain doesn't seem excessive (weird..)
In any other setting, even with shake on, the system kills it after awhile (the notification icon disappears and everything) when the phone is locked/screen blacked out for more than what seems like ten minutes or so. The app then appears to "not work"but it is in fact just closed by the system.

I've been playing this for about a week now and I have to agree with you on the addictive part. Just can't stop playing once you start although you will most probably spent more money on it to buy better cars so be aware.
I have all the cars and haven't spent any more money on it, just win races to make money to buy cars.

I have some text cutoff issues in the upper left corner -
I can't see the results of the races (though from the bottom I can see if I won / got money or not)
also in the beginning when I type my name I can't read the text.
This is on Cassyrom V8.
It doesn't affect general gameplay though, which is fun enough.
If you liked RR 1, give this one a try - the fact you can get cars / upgrade them is huge. the first one got boring in that respect.

Best way to improve typing experience on SGS2 / ICS?

I recently got a new Galaxy S2 and though I have no complaints about its speed, the on screen keyboard is atrocious. I'm running the AOKP ICS ROM right now and using what I assume is the stock ICS keyboard.
Coming from an OG Droid, my main complaint is that the on screen keyboard doesn't always follow the text while typing, I find myself often typing off screen and I can't pinch and zoom out with the keyboard open, it's very frustrating. Also, the selection marker seems to jump around making it very difficult to get to a word I made a typo in due to it being off screen when I typed it. I find it easier sometimes to just backspace my entire sentence than to fight with it. After a google search, this doesn't seem like an uncommon complaint.
Also I'm not a big fan of having to hit the "back" key to pull down the keyboard when there's no done button, as hitting it twice has a chance of eating whatever I'm typing.
What do you guys suggest?
Other than that, I don't much like the cramped viewspace I have when typing, but I suppose nothing can be done about that. It'd be nice to have a higher ppi display, with pinch and zoom with the keyboard open.
On another forum some suggested downloading a paid keyboard that allows the addition of arrow keys, but I'm reluctant to make the keyboard take up even more space onscreen.
P.S. I'm trying to get my post count up so I can post some bugs in the development section. Thanks all!
SwiftKey X is the best keyboard I've ever downloaded. It has a stinking awesome auto correct and several themes to choose from to match your phone interface. It's even got some neat gesture shortcuts and you can adjust the size of the keyboard on the screen from small, to medium, to large (which sounds like something you'd like) in both portrait and landscape mode. It has a 30 day free trial and after that the auto correct stops working, but the app is only 50 cents. I'd super highly recommend it, that's what I'm using with my galaxy s2. That and a crap ton of swype Good luck, hope I helped

Is everyone else having issues with lag?

I went from the HTC One to this, and I am a little disappointed here. The HTC One was beautiful, great, etc, but I went with this phone for a a more future proof reason. The thing I am confused about is how is this phone lagging? The One did not lag, and I am not by any means trying to start up a debate between the two, but why does this phone lag? Anybody experiencing odd lag? (opening closing apps have a hiccup, widgets, scrolling)
The screen seems to have a good amount of ghosting, but I assume that is because this is a PenTile super saturated screen, so it won't be as smooth movement as an LCD screen. (I freakin' love this screen, by the way)
Also, Samsung, I know if I raise the volume it could possible damage my ears, quit popping a message up every time I do this.
Also...
For the stock browser and Chrome, the screen slightly dims itself upon opening, doesn't do it with Firefox though.
Small things, small gripes. These small grips bothering anyone else?
It seems odd, this is my first Samsung device, but it seems like it's not a consistent experience. It just launched, I know, but I did not think one of the big brands would have these issues.

Yup, bloatware. My Galaxy S3 running CM 10.1 was FAST. Patiently waiting.
well htc one is in android 2.1 now it may have the same problem when you upgrade to 4.2 I guess .
To solve the lag, you may turn on Force Gpu option in developer setting, but it causes battery.

That did nothing, but I changed the animations to 0.5x and they go so quick, I don't notice it anymore. I sincerely hope that Samsung/AT&T push out something to fix this, I don't feel like a phone with an overclocked Snapdragon 600 should be going through this.
Set animations to zero and the phone will be even quicker. You won't miss a thing. Good luck.
The lag is very bad. It really makes me wanna throw this device against the wall. Coming from an S3 and Note 2 this feels like a huge downgrade, seriously.
I do know though that now that the boot loader has been unlocked, developers can start making custom roms. That and I know there will be many updates. The lag will not last forever.

That doesn't do anything. The browser, messaging app, and gallery all lag within. Samsung needs to properly optimize their software for the Snapdragon 600.
If your using Nova launcher, go to Nova Settings - Look and Feel - App Animations. Change it to ICS or slide. This has removed any stutter for me with the opening and closing app transitions.

You guys aren't addressing his main problem. He's upset about lag within the apps themselves.
To Op, just be patient and either Samsung or devs here will address it. It's clearly software related.
Also, the screen darkening happens if you have certain battery saving things turned on. Is your energy saver on?

Yes, you're right. They have an odd stutter. The sad thing is, we shouldn't have to do anything to stop this from happening. lol
Also, the stutters happen even when opening/closing/navigating the settings, and I saw it stutter a few times closing the app drawer, that one surprised me.

A couple of quick suggestions:
-Hard Reset when you get the phone. A few people have commented that after a re-flash the phone runs smoother
-disable animations and the screen unlock ripples/light BS. The ripple caused issues with the GS3, so this is just an assumption on my part.
-Force GPU helps
-Freeze and apps especially bloat you don't use.
-Since this seems to be a common issue for everyone, I would hope that Samsung/Att will have a small update in the coming months. I will not hold my breathe though.

This actually does help a lot to reduce the lag.. Did this a few days ago and it has def helped!
I felt the same way about my S3 for a long time until I finally flashed tasks AOKP with ktoonz kernel.
For reference, I think the size of the stock rom on the s4 is somewhere around two gigs as opposed to tasks AOKP which was around 500 or 600 MB's.
I haven't even activated my S4 yet because of the frustration I know I would endure when switching between apps, or texting, or pretty much doing anything.
My S3 is RIDICULOUSLY fast now so I have the utmost confidence that once the Verizon phone is out and the ROMs start rolling in, all the lag will be gone once you get away from TouchWiz.
[edit] Task I see you lurking around the S4 boards. I don't know what it all means, but I LIKE it!!!

[KERNEL][Nook HD+][cm-10.2] fix 'twitchy' touchscreen sensitivity

These two kernels decrease the sensitivity of the touchscreen to small movements. This solves the problem of the overly sensitive right hand side of the screen on the HD+. It is made by applying my gerrit patch: http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/54476/ "Add touch fuzz to improve ovation sensitivity." Fuzz is actually the official Android/Google term for this. I submitted this on November 23rd but nobody has reviewed it. (Am I the only home brewer?) There are no other modifications to the kernel, except enabling fstrim by reverting the disable fstrim patch for the fstrim enabled kernel.
I hope that this helps those of you who also find page turning and item clicking difficult. Small motions (less than 3 xaxis and 5 yaxis pixels) are not interpreted as a moving touch but as a stationary one. Touches should register as touches rather than drags.
Apply these using your favorite recovery. I take no responsibility for any damage to your NookHD+ or family pets. These should be applicable to any recent cm-10.2 build (since November 15th). If the build is not current then there may be wifi or other problems.
If folks like this change, I will whine to the powers that be to get it merged. I think that verygreen has been very busy with work lately.
Edit:
I have made more kernels with different fuzz values for x and y. For you information, x is the short screen dimension and y is the long screen dimension (B&N decided this for us). Larger numbers are less sensitive to touch motion. They make screen taps more stable but can make drawing jagged. Values range from 3 to 8. When a "best" set of values is determined, that is what I will submit as a patch to cyanogenmod.
Following are the md5 sums, file names and links, sorry about the formatting. This doesn't seem to like tabs.
Thanks for testing the different values. I hope this helps others with the twitchy touchscreens on the HD+.
These have been deleted because they don't work with current builds. The 3x5 fuzz patch is included in all builds now. Thanks for testing. Sorry to those who prefered other sizes.
Definitely going to try the Trim kernel, will report back. Thank you for the kernel!

Downloads work for me. They open up a box.com window ready for downloading. 16 people have downloaded so far. I make them open to anyone.
I have tried to add overclocking but TI really locked things down to 1.5. I't sure it can be done but it isn't as easy as on ealrlier omap processors. I'd rather get 16 bit color working for the increased speed. That huge screen takes a lot of data at 24 bits. Now, I am trying to get last_kmsg working and then debugging cm11.0.

Well I'm eagerly awaiting what you produce. Been pining for a kernel for this since I got it! Thank you for your work this far. No major flub ups so far and it does seem to help the hold jitter, not a whole lot though but it is noticeable.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
I can make the touch hold even less jittery if it is wanted. I tested fuzz values from 2 to 25 and found these values of 3 and 5 worked best. The jittering was low enough that I can turn pages while reading, it sometimes takes a couple taps but is much better. If I make the values larger I can see the blockiness in a drawing program but that is only important to my granddaughter. I opted for the drawing program level. I can set it higher (like 4 and 8). Maybe I'll build up a family of different values and we can figure out the best.
Anyway, thanks for testing. I'm glad it works.
I did open up a drawing.app to test that as well and it did seem a touch more crazy, but I was using a Jot pro so I thought it was just that.
I would test multiple releases to see which one felt best, but I don't know how much work that is to recompile several kernels so I won't ask.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
I added 8 kernels with md5 checksums to the OP. They have different fuzz values so we can figure out what works best for most people. I liked 3x5 with fstrim (live dangerously). Others might prefer the higher, more stable values. When a consensus is reached I will try to get those values pushed to the nightlies.
I like 8x8 the most. Thank you so much for this fix.

Testing the 8x8 TRIM right now. While using Google Book reader, highlighting words has been 100% accurate but it feels weird to use. Tapping and pulling to turn the page or scroll up and down there is a very significant delay, like a stickiness, before it jumps to your fingers position, after that initial lag it's smooth. This happens every time you lift and touch back down on the screen and it's just the natural of the best with the 8x8 I'm assuming. But what's odd, is using a drawing program I didn't experience that massive delay and it, for the most part, felt about the same aside from maybe a delay in registering when I was doing, but I never experience the same "sticky" nature.
Right now, I like that tap&hold is dead on. I'll keep playing and then try the 4x5 which I'm thinking might be the perfect one for me.
Some info. Using latest CarbonRom 10.2 which is JB 4.3

Any chance we can get a hummingbird version of this? Thanks!

3x5 works really well for me, it's the only one I tried though. I have been having a lot of problems with touch and I was told to just wipe my screen before, but this actually fixed it. Before when holding an app icon it would shake like crazy and I had a hard time uninstalling or moving apps. I hope this gets merged.
Just wondering if we can make the fuzziness a build prop or local prop ?

This is working great for me too. I am running 20131211 with this kernel/trim. I was having quite a few problems with Feedly. It's still not perfect, but is much, much better now.
Thanks!
Cheers,
Rich

I don't have a hummingbird so I haven't looked at changing the touch sensitivity. I didn't think that the HD had twitchy touch. Figuring out which file needs to be changed is difficult and I haven't looked at it for the hummingbird.
I'm afraid that this can't be made a build.prop feature. It needs to be compiled into the kernel. Maybe a much better kernel programmer than I could figure out a way to do it.
I'm glad it is working for folks out there. I'm hoping for the best comromise between twitchy and jerky movement. I want to be able to hold an icon and move it, turn a page, and select text. If the fuzz is too big, I can't select text. If it is too small, I can't hold an icon or set wallpaper. Thanks for testing.
And by the way, it seems like Verygreen's emmc trim fix works. I haven't seen any reports of bricks using the new trimfix enabled kernels.
Totally cool job man! If it works out fine some day we all want to see a version for hummingbird.
Being able to update these values from a menu would be pretty awesome. Do we know if any of the custom roms support variable touchscreen adjustments like this?
Thanks,
