[Q] Help required upgrading my tab from Froyo to Gingerbread 2.2.3 - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys:
I recently bought a used T Mobile tab (model: SGH-T849). I am very tempted to upgrade it to Gingerbread 2.3.3. Just so you know i am currently located in Pakistan (Asia).
Current details on my tab say the following:
Model Number: GT-P1000
Firmware Version: 2.2
Baseband Version: P1000XXJHA
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9 [email protected]#1
Build Number: FROYO.XXJMA
On checking *#1234# it displays:
PDA: (blank)
Phone: P100XXJHA
CSC: (blank)
After reading various forums, videos, manuals I think I am ready to upgrade it myself. The problem is that i want to upgrade to "P1000DXJPI" which i believe is the Samsung Tab Original Asia Gingerbread 2.2.3 release.
I have tried downloading P1000DXJPI from 4shared (P1000DXJPI.7zip):
(download failed at 53%.) Can you suggest a new and complete download link?)
a) Will this firmware technically work on my version of the tab
b) Which is the correct tar. (for firmware: P1000DXJPI) to download?
c) Which PIT. file to use with this firmware version- (gt-p1000_mr_PIT.zip????)
d) Odin 1.7 or 1.6
e) What "dbdata" file to use if it and tar. files already not the samething.
f) Do i need any CSC file? If Yes then which one and what does it do?
I know these are a lot of questions but before I go ahead and upgrade I need more and accurate information. I will be obliged if some expert on tab could help this noob.
Thank you
(PS: please guide me to complete article having the information i am looking for)

just so you know, i was able to successfully download the following 2 files. Now what do i exactly do with them?
P1000TDXJP4_P1000TDXJP1_P1000TOLBJP3_HOME
P1000DXJPI.7z

BUMP........ any help guys?

Yes i did it
Guys looking for updating their GT-P1000 from Froyo to GingerBread:
Just go download "Mobile Odin Pro" from some blackmarket link.
Get the firmware for Gingerbread 2.3.3 you want to install. Upload it to you tab's disk (not the external sd card).
Start Mobile Odin Pro. It will ask you to update some software extensions based on your mobiles version and then all you need to do is to search the firmware file on you phone and select it automatically.
and then flash it. That's pretty much it.
Cons: this Mobile Odin Pro currently only works for few (3/4) Samsung mobiles. GT-P1000 happens to be one of them
Remember: Try to open the zip file on you computer and make sure to update all the required files after extracting the zip file. You can always create a new zip or rar to upload to you cell.
In case of any questions feel free to contact me. ([email protected]) or PM me if they don't ban me
and for the bloody senior xda developers.. thank you for your no support for my original query. You guys suck!!!! (now sue me)
P.S: i am working on finding a solution to update GT-P1000 to icecreamsandwich custom. If i have the updates i will gladly share them with you. Thank you

Can any one provide me a "free" download link for:
CSC: P1000OJPJJ1
Phone: P1000JXJJ1
Actually these are part of the official "Froyo 2.2" GT-P1000 in Pakistan (Carrier: Mobilink). I was having signal problems with other Gingerbread 2.3.3 roms i updated.
I want to downgrade to Froyo with "P1000JPJJ1" rom (which i have), however cant seem to find the exact CSC and Modem file.
I will also appreciate if some one can advice me on how to get the modem settings saved from an official tab and transferred to my tab.
Please correct me if i am wrong.. i order to get my signals working, i have to have the correct modem file? right combination will be:
Base Band: P1000JXJJ1
Kernal: 2.3.32.9 [email protected]#1
Build No: Froyo.JPJJ1
*#1234# would then show:
PDA: P1000JPJJ1
Phone: P1000JXJJ1 (Required)
CSC: P1000OJPJJ1 (Required)
Any help will be highly appreciated

You can flash any ROM you want. The procedure is simple.
1) Download any official firmware from here.
2) Download ODIN Multi Downloader (Google's your friend)
3) Connect your device in downloading mode.
4) Flash it via ODIN
Here's a video

I really dont know the benefit from 10-posts limit but however... I have to post 10 posts before I can ask in Artemis ROM thread this question:
1.) To everyone how flashed with HSPL 3.03.00000, what RAM utilization do you have after opneing all tabs?
2.) To Sternas, Would it be a great idea to remove all the Windows Live and Marketplace apps which doesnt have any functionality since Microsoft gave Wndows Mobile up?
3.) To Sternas: Thank you for this ROM!

What Android version should my 7.7 be on?

I bought a P6800 in Kazakhstan. I have no idea which region it originally came from - its in a bog standard Samsung pack with English documentation and no regional labels or languages evident.
The P6800 is on Android 3.2.
I have tried to make it update software (by wifi and 3G) in Kazakhstan, Russia, UK, Denmark & Spain so far.
Each time, after the "connecting to server" dialogue, it returns "no update available".
KIES/internet doesn't indicate an available update either.
Any idea what Android it should be updating to, and/or if there is any region specific issue?
This is the data listed under "about device":
Baseband version:
P6800XXLA3
Kernel version:
2.6.36-P6800XXLA4-CL616407
[email protected]#3 SMP PREEMPT Thu Jan 5 21:02:55 KST 2012
Build number:
HTJ85B P6800XXLA4
if i'm not mistaken... its either from portugal or rusia firmware...
anyway you can download the latest firmware which is Ice Cream Sandwich from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1469635
and learn how to update your device via Odin software.
oh... one more thing... you can actually use any region firmware on your device
Update availability is determined by csc code not by country you attempt to update from. You can always update via odin if you want ICS and it isn't available for your tablet, there are plenty of guides around on how to do this just search the forums.
If you want to check your csc open phone app and dial *#1234#

The *#1234# does not work; gives "connection problem of invalid MMI code" (the phone app works fine otherwise)
Kies reports: "your device does not support software upgrading via Kies".
Kies shows the firmware version as: PDA:LA4 / PHONE:LA3 / CSC:KL1 (XSG)
Seems strange that there is no official Samsung way to update other than by using a third-party app such as Odin.
your CSC is XSG = United Arab Emirates...
Kies can only upgrade via region... as the smart software detected that you are not in the support region... that's why it report you dont have any software update.
so go and read my last post and download the firmware from that site and use odin to update...
btw... odin is not a 3rd party software... it is a maintenance software leak by samsung staff.
Code:
Odin was software that was first leaked back a couple years ago from Samsung. Samsung uses or used it to "flash" or "install" firmware/os/kernels/radio's onto the devices. Samsung still uses it or a form of it in certain releases as a Window's Upgrade Tool as its been known. Its still basically old Odin underneath a custom Window's UI skin.
Better stick to Honeycomb...
I made the mistake to update my P6800 to ICS with the result that I have endless troubles with WiFi now. I contacted the local Samsung Service Center and on monday I will be there to downgrade again and get back usable WiFi again. Looks like Samsung is not willing to fix the broken WiFi Stack in ICS on the Tab 7.7...
you can use ics but using HC modem files... you need to extract modem.bin files from HC firmware and flash it with odin.
No wifi probs for me on ICS

Me either. You are better off giving ICS a try, the performance improvement alone is worthwhile. If you happen to have wifi problems you can always downgrade to HC.

[Completed] Samsung Galaxy S2-switching off after initial screen with a yellow triangle

Samsung Galaxy S2 that I purchased from Australia having Gingerbread 2.3.4 on it.
Samsung Galaxy S2-switching off after initial screen displaying"Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100".
My phone initially had a problem of Flight mode-"No network or sim card was not reading".
To resolve that I did the following-
1. Factory Reset
2. Then rooted my phone following the following instructions- "galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s2-newworks-on-all-galaxy-s2-variants/" (which says to Download GalaxyS2RootNew.zip & then hitting Runme.bat), but was not able to successfully root my phone(through use of busybox).
3. After that I tried this method given on this - "galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s2-i9100-icsandroid-4-0/" (which says to flash the following Kernel- CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5.tar using ODIN program). But this make my phon to not to restart again as this is for Ice Cream Sandwich(ICS) .
Pls help me how to reach the old state on my phone.
Let me know if any other information I can provide with.
Currently by pressing Power+Menu+Volume up button I can enter CWM-based Recovery v 5 .0 .2 .7

I'm not quite sure about what you really want.
"reach the old state"?!
If you just want to remove the yellow triangle (and reset the custom flash counter), then use TriangleAway app.
If you want to unroot your phone, install SuperSU app from Play store and use the complete unroot option in this app.
If you want to have complete stock firmware back on your phone, get it from the [Stock Official Firmwares] I9100XWMS2 (4.1.2) - Slovenia (MOT) [05-01-14] thread and flash it with Odin.
Good luck !
Revert to the earlier state means restore phone to stable working state

or previous firmware of GT-7582 Philippines Globe. Thankyou
You don't need a specific firmware version to update, just select any firmware for S7582 it will work fine, don't care about the country
It's better to use a non-carrier firmware version because carrier firmware usually have extra bloatware in it.
