Random boot loop in Galaxy s GT9000 CM7.1 - General Questions and Answers

Hi
I installed CM 7 stable version in my Galaxy s GT9000 mtd last week and until when i captured a video it was working fine and i took my phone to make a call after 5minutes and by the time it was rebooting automatically. I thought its normal but it got bootlooped.i got shocked and luckily it worked fine after i switched off the phone by pressing power button for 30 seconds and switching it on again......
and when i googled about this i saw in most of the forums regarding this problem and learnt that i should wipe the dalvik cache too which i never did during the installation of CM7 (Its not mentioned in the wiki)
I am afraid that it might happen again in future...my question is if i redo the installation again by the following procedure is there any chance that it might not boot loop again???
1.wipe cache
2.wipe data/factory reset
3.Navigate to Advanced-->wipe Dalvik cache
4.Navigate to mounts and storage---> format /system
5.Install the ZIP
Please i need some experts help on this.....(thanks in advance)

can anyone help me on this plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Yeah..flash the custom ROM again..n wipe everything before

Test and possible solution to the reboots (GB related)

Well first off I do believe there are 2 different reboot problems. One related to radio/sig and a new one. Im very crazy about wiping everything before flashing roms. I would boot into cwr and wip data/factory reset, cache, dalvik, then go into mounts and storage and format /system and /sdcard. now i would have basically nothing on my phone or sd card.... i would then mount as usb storage from cwr and add the rom i wanted to flash. I would flash it and have 0 probs until the GB roms. Ive found that after wiping the SD card it would boot and after the setup process it would get non stop reboots every time it would get a data or voice sig. to fix it i had to wipe just data cache and dalvik and then reflash the rom and then everything was cool (besides maybe a reboot during setup but thats semi normal) ive gone a day now with 0 reboots on my phone. before that i tested and i can replicate this every time ive even tested it on my co workers phone. I dont know why this happens and im hoping some1 can test it by doing what i did in cwr and confirm that they also get reboots after this.
again the steps are:
Boot into CWR
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik
go into mounts and storage and format /system /sdcard
mount as usb and add in GB bamf beta 4 (since thats what i did my tests with)
reboot do the setup and see if you get reboots
report back here
p.s. please dont flame or ask silly questions kinda wana just keep it to people who have tested and have feed back
p.s.s. to fix the reboots just re wipe data cache dalvik and reflash rom
please some1 test it if you can confirm then im gong to test it on stock froyo roms etc

[Q] Soft Brick on Flashing CM9 Nightly

Okay, so when I attempt to flash the CM9 nightly (7.2.12 edition) and the Google Apps ICS from CyanogenMod's wiki page I get a soft brick in reboot loop. What happens is three things (it's happened differently each time): First, I get the white SAMSUNG logo. After that, I get an extra-long black screen before a bootscreen. The first time it was an ANDROID logo with moving reflections. The second time it was the CM9 bootscreen. The third time it was simply a white screen. All three times, shortly after the bootscreen began, the phone froze at one frame early into the animation and rebooted. The same thing continually happened. To flash the ROM, I have the newest CWM Recovery for the T-Mobile Galaxy S II installed. From there, I did this (in this order): wipe data/factory reset, Wipe Dalvik Cache, and then Wipe Battery Stats. From there, I flashed the ROM from the internal SD card and then Google Apps for ICS from the internal SD card. After going to reboot from CWM Recovery, I always got that soft brick (three times now). After each soft brick, I have used CWM Recovery to recover a previous instance on the stock ROM.
Any help will be rewarded with imaginary thanks.

[Q] stuck in fastboot Help

i have rooted my phone with gingerbreak and wanted to install gingersnap rom. i followed this methood http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1197991 and my phone is stuck in fastboot now.... i am able to press home+voldown+power button to go into clockwork recovery i think thats what its called and pretty much nothing else please help im new to this stuff
Go into the recovery, then use the volume keys to navigate around and either the search button or the menu button will select things depending on the version you're using. Once you're there, wipe cache and dalvik cache, then reboot it. The boot will take a long time, if after five minutes it's still trying to boot, then go back into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cache, then install a rom like gingersnap. If after another five minutes that isn't working, boot into recovery again do a factory reset (this will wipe all of your apps, contacts, calendar entries etc), wipe system, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache (do not wipe sd card or external storage) then install a rom like gingersnap and see if it boots up.
thanks for trying to help but none of that helped i dont really know how to install/flash a rom but i looked around a bit and found that i made a backup before i tryed to flash it so thanks

[Completed] [Q] Need help... phone goes into bootloop - xolo q800

I tried to install custom rom given in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729379 FOR Xolo Q800. But I don't know what I did wrong & now my phone doesn't start. Steps that I followed -
1) Installed CWM Recovery & rooted the phone. http://xolohub.blogspot.in/2013/11/how-to-install-cwm-twrp-recovery-on_16.html
2) Then I went into recovery mode and did
a) wipe data/factory reset
b) wipe cache
I didn't clear Dalvik cache because whenever I clicked on wipe dalvik cache, it refreshed the screen so I skipped it.:silly:
3) Installed zip from sd card & it went fine but when I restarted phone, it went into bootloop :crying:
Then I searched on google & followed some steps to get out of bootloop but unfortunately it did not work. Steps that I followed -
1) Went into recovery
2) then mount from usb mode and copied over the same rom from PC, wiped every thing 3 times (wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, format data, format system, format cache, wipe dalvik cache) all of it (This time wipe dalvik cache worked).
3) installed custom rom again but still did not work.
Couple of things -
Whenever I reinstalled new rom & tried to reboot my phone, I got message "rom may flash stock recovery on boot THIS CAN NOT BE UNDONE" then i have the options of - no, - yes disable recovery flash, and - go back. No matter which one I choose (including - go back) my phone reboots & goes into bootloop
I have around 400 mb free on my sd card after I copied custom rom. Can this be a problem?
Please help & get me out of this thing.

Maybe you have to do a factory reset (wipe data).
But better to ask in the corresponding Q&A thread: [Q&A] [XPERIA][4.4.2-LIKE] PureXperia Z2 v4.3.5 FOR Xolo Q700/Q700i/Q800/Fly iq446/A.
There you should get better answers.
Good luck !

I actually did factory reset before reinstalling it but didn't work. Now I installed another rom (Baidu) & thankfully it worked for me. Not sure if the problem was with PureXperia rom or with my phone
Thanks for letting us know. Thread closed.
