Hey guys, I was one the first to buy this phone and It has been a long journey, I'm leaving VM and the triumph behind. The reason is T-Mobile is offering a $30 no contract deal. Plus it come with 5g of 4g speed, which VM will never offer, so I went on ebay and bought myself a Samsung Galaxy S II for $500, and am I the only one that is doing this because I believe this is a deal of a life time .

That's up there with Verizon. Verizon LTE goes a little faster but you generally won't use it useless you are getting something off of a server that can move that fast which is rare. Also, that's a lot faster than anything VM and their 3G will ever put out. lol

that's pathetic.
I can see there are a lot of folks here who has left VM... I just started I use this tread because it looks like some here are reading it. This is my first real Android, been many years on Windows Mob., and it has been a fun ride! But lately I used Android on my TP2, and I wanted to try a real one, and since I didn't like to have a contract I ended up with this...
I have a question about my main issues with this phone. It's the weak/slow 3g bad signal issues that many has confirmed. The other more important for me is the Bluetooth disconnecting issue, and many has others reportet this problem too.
So my question, does any of the build ROM's here solve this per now?
If not I know it will be, because in here is the best of the developers you can find!! Coming from the WM world it has been a lot of issues, but at the very end, I must say my TP2 became perfect after a lot of ROM testing..
Hope someone can give me some feedback asap.. Thanks!

So what is your current prepaid deal with TMobile?
Data/month
Minutes/month
Texting/month
Price?
Also, I never really notice the bad 3g speed - I haven't used better, and my home connection is just as bad(well, not as bad).
And the 3G loads videos at a nice enough speed.

Did you use your SIM card from your Atrix? I'm thinking about doing it since I have an iPhone 2g laying around, but I'm not sure if it'll work with my SIM card that already has a data plan.
But I'm still waiting to see if I even use all of the data I can. There is no point in spending an extra $5/month on something I don't need.
I was grandfathered in from an iPhone plan. Yay me
the iphone 2g is the only phone that will force att to give you unlimited internet. but back in January att said they will allow all prior att iphone customers to get unlimited back on there contract (provided it is the same number/contract) had they removed the feature at any time.
so I'm pretty glad I had an iphone. even if I had to deal with all the bs like no mms, no tethering unless it was jail broken, no video, crappy camera that didn't work indoors or if it was cloudy without a tripod. wow that phone sucked for the first couple years. but I'm glad I had it.
This is interesting.
Now to try and get my hands on an iPhone.

Might I suggest that you instead send him your SIM? Much less chance of something bad happening to an expensive (and still somewhat useful) bit of technology that way

I hope the judge gets a hands on opinion with new samsung devices and then he/she can tell for themselves how different they are. I don't hate apple but this lowballing technique really doesnt help their image. Maybe they should create a phone that can actually compete with new android devices like the Evo 3d, now thats competition! In America "Competition means good business."

At&t is supposed to be getting it. But it doesnt look like there is any s2 branded for tmobile, or at least that supports tmobile AWS bands. You can order one unlocked and put your tmboile sim in it, but it will only work for voice and 2g/edge data. Even with that limitation...ive been thinking of buying one anyways, or the single core at&t infuse 4g and just unlock it and put my sim in it and live with the 2G data. Dont think i have the balls to live with 2g tho.
On another note, im guessing Tmobile USA isnt getting it because of the Hercules thats supposed to be released in September which is supposed the be like the s2 on steroids. lol.
I need to buy something new. The fact there are much more powerful phones out there even though i love my gs4g...is killing me softly...lol

I was actually pretty pleased with the phone, a few reboots here and there. Then gingerbread came and I got fed up with it, hahaha. It just wasn't gingerbread exactly.
So I rooted finally and flashed a few roms and eventually settled on one I like and the phone's been great. Fast, pretty moderate battery life, powerful.
Now I'm messing around with ICS and it's still fun.

I made the same switch from the Sprint NS4G
to T-Mobile. T-Mobile data speeds are faster and voice calls are great in my areas. I dont miss my NS4G at all just my friends in that section. I'm a very proud owner of a G2x. The pixels are higher than super amoled screen and the 1000mhz tegra2 processor is superb hands down. The G2x has that high quality finish with the metal alloy bezel. Bigger specs on the camera and camcorder etc.
I'm a very proud G2x owner and I had my share of PPCs and Androids devices.

Once again we share somewhat the same story lol. This is my first time user GSM as my main source of cellular service.
From what we seen with ICS on the NS4G, these preliminary builds here are defiantly on par and on the right track. I remember NS4G users was running the ICS SDK port like a daily driven haha.
Our 1st build of ICS and I run it like a daily driver, NP. You might need a browser, cause is visually has some glitches that's all. I run it as is no custom kernel all week long. But that's about it.

We are on the same $30 plan at T-Mobile. Saving tons of monies a year vs Sprint. I use Talkatone app (VoiceIP) recently ported from iOS to Android by the creators to make 90% of my voice calls an it works great. It works way better than GroveIP waste of $5. March 1st Talkatone will go from free to having subscriptions $1.99 a month or $20 a year. Once you see how good the app works, you will be happy to drop the $20 bucks for the year.

Realistically you can't go wrong with a skyrocket. You have 2 devices worth of devs, radio freq. That works on anything but verizon or sprint, which means service can just about be had anywhere, yes maybe no hd display but all the benefits out weigh having hd on a phone

the one he is referring to is a gsm galaxy nexus, which you will have to buy off contract in the 5 hundred dollar range. (atleast that's the only one that can compare to the skyrocket) so unless you have 500 to blow you made the best choice on att right now unless you want the giant note

No LTE yeah, but really wasn't your life chugging fine until now anyways? Realistically, if I got to choose again, I'd take the nexus over the skyrocket. The software pains are absolutely horrible compared to the HSPA pains.
There's always the future software upgrades, nexus will keep you on top of them for at least two revisions, don't expect that from AT&T.

That's a good deal. Considering verizon has it for $199.99

Verizon is not the same phone and you need to sign up for two years. I think it is a good deal, but that is me.

Maybe you should ask him if he would help first. If he agrees then we might be able to set up another phone fund. Since we just lost are kernel dev it would be great to get another.

Sorry about the thread hijack.
dude, I would wait for the next Google flagship(jelly bean) if I were you. Deving has already kickstarted here, so you don't really need it now.
(That's what I'm doing)

If you guys are still selling your phones, I would recommend putting an ad up on your local craigslist. Before I dove into the root world and unlocked my SG4G to its full potential, I posted an ad up to sell my phone for $200 and got all kinds of offers. This was about two months ago.
Sad to see many people moving away from this phone. Although I do believe it is becoming outdated, I still think its a great phone nonetheless. I'm personally holding onto it because I will be spending a year abroad and have already unlocked it for international use.
Best of luck.
I'm trading for an hd2 and beats!
