Welcome!
I was actually pretty pleased with the phone, a few reboots here and there. Then gingerbread came and I got fed up with it, hahaha. It just wasn't gingerbread exactly.
So I rooted finally and flashed a few roms and eventually settled on one I like and the phone's been great. Fast, pretty moderate battery life, powerful.
Now I'm messing around with ICS and it's still fun.

Thanks for your insight, highly appreciated well how stable is ics?and is it possible to use it on T-Mobile pre paid never used a GSM network

Pre paid should be fine as long as you get a good plan in terms of data. Its a great phone, fast, Gingerbread roms are stable, and ICS future looks good due to developers and the promise from LG.

I made the same switch from the Sprint NS4G
to T-Mobile. T-Mobile data speeds are faster and voice calls are great in my areas. I dont miss my NS4G at all just my friends in that section. I'm a very proud owner of a G2x. The pixels are higher than super amoled screen and the 1000mhz tegra2 processor is superb hands down. The G2x has that high quality finish with the metal alloy bezel. Bigger specs on the camera and camcorder etc.
I'm a very proud G2x owner and I had my share of PPCs and Androids devices.

Once again we share somewhat the same story lol. This is my first time user GSM as my main source of cellular service.
From what we seen with ICS on the NS4G, these preliminary builds here are defiantly on par and on the right track. I remember NS4G users was running the ICS SDK port like a daily driven haha.
Our 1st build of ICS and I run it like a daily driver, NP. You might need a browser, cause is visually has some glitches that's all. I run it as is no custom kernel all week long. But that's about it.

We are on the same $30 plan at T-Mobile. Saving tons of monies a year vs Sprint. I use Talkatone app (VoiceIP) recently ported from iOS to Android by the creators to make 90% of my voice calls an it works great. It works way better than GroveIP waste of $5. March 1st Talkatone will go from free to having subscriptions $1.99 a month or $20 a year. Once you see how good the app works, you will be happy to drop the $20 bucks for the year.

Okay, stupid topic, but I have to ask. Looking at selling my Fascinate and taking an early upgrade to a Thunderbolt. Seems to be a completely solid device, and I would love to get an HTC back in my hands after a year of Sammy pains.
Looking to find out from the folks who've had it for a minute what their opinions are?

So far, so good. I haven't rooted mine, because I really haven't felt the need yet.
I'm coming from the Sammy Vibrant, and I loved the phone.
I like this one better. Much more responsive, and it doesn't fall prey to the lag issues, the primary reason I rooted my Vibrant in the first place.
I'd say go do it. Awesome phone.

I upgraded from a D1. I kinda miss some of the control I had over that phone, but the devs had a lot time to master that device. The TB will get there as well especially since a lot of devs & themers have the phone.
I rooted mine so I could remove all the bloat (~250mb of junk). I am running the latest RUU and with a custom kernel.
I have been very happy with the Tbolt. The battery life has been better than I expected.
It's a great phone. I'd recommend it!
I love it but why not wait. You made it this far. In a month or so there will be better phones.

The only things I miss about the Fascinate is the size/weight and the gps. I get better reception with the bolt and I love being able to use data while I'm on the phone. If the boro has coverage like Hinesville, you'll welcome the better reception.
I had a fascinate too. Yea Def make the switch. Battery isn't as good, but it charges quick it about 40 times less laggy and runs circles around it. I had many issues with the fascinate with this not so much.
I would get one on eBay and save the upgrade in case you dont like it on either an iPhone 5 or Bionic when (if) they come out in a few months.

Ha. I'm just ready to move on, and the feedback is helpful. There's really nothing wrong with the Fascinate, outside of it just feels chicky overall, no matter what.

+1 fascinate forums are quiet now!
I jumped ship too last weekend and so far I'm loving it. rooting it is quite a pain tho, the fascinate was definitely easier to root. My battery life is the same or better than the fascinate while rooted on comm rom. radio and gps is much better on the tbolt too, at least in my experience.

GPS on my Fascinate was instant and accurate - within 3-5 feet usually. On my Thunderbolt it takes at least a minute to get a lock and it's never even close to 30 feet. I guess I was one of the few people with a Fascinate that had great gps from the minute I got it...

yea, you were definitely lucky! as of community rom, and the ED01 radio, it took at least a minute to lock on (which was better than before when it would take 5 min to lock on). my tbolt locks instantly, even inside.
I used an early upgrade to get my t-bolt, and I love it! DEFINITELY go for it.
Well first off verizon is suppose to get an lg monster like tmo. Also id wait just too see what htc is pushing out. Then you do have moto actually talking about doing what sony is to there phones. Aka go online type your esn in and they give you a specific unlock code for your phone but voids warranty for anything not having to do with bad hardware.

Love my thunderbolt! I did come from an Eris tho so I am quite awestruck.
Another one of these threads, eh?
There are several others, FYI.
All in all, I would think, despite the shortcomings (battery, gps, kinks), that most people here are in fact happy with their Thunderbolt. There have been, in my opinion -- and in such a short period of time -- great strides in development on this device.
My personal favorites (in no particular order):
- Voice + Data simultaneously;
- Ample RAM;
- Strong developer support;
- A fairly vibrant (albeit not necessarily the best) screen;
- Plenty of speed viz. no lag;
- Made by HTC;
- Easy to root (thanks to those who tirelessly made it easy to do with adb);
- 4G LTE!
My personal grudges (YMMV):
- GPS location acquisition;
- Battery efficacy (but remember, this phone isn't just a beast, but it's a first-in-class);
- Random reboots (more kinks that will be worked out, I'm sure).
If I had it to do over again, I would still have bought the Thunderbolt!
Good luck in whatever decision you make.
Hey guys. I'm strongly considering getting rid of my inspire on at&t in favor of the nexus S. I'm looking for fast and reliable in nyc without lte so I'm drawn to this device. I also like cm7 support. Unfortunately, my time with the captivate has left a bad taste in my mouth towards Samsung. Before I make the switch I was wondering if you guys had any advice for me. If the reviews aren't so great I may consider the droid charge as well even though its lte and will likely not have cm support. I've just had enough with at&t. What do you guys think?
Thanks in advance!

i don't understand. The Nexus S is already out, so you can buy it for T-Mobile, Sprint or AT&T (unofficially). There's nothing new to review here.
Pick a carrier, then pick a phone. The Nexus S is going to be on all BUT Verizon.

I think the Nexus 4G is awesome. If you get it, you don't have to worry about upgrading OS, etc. Nexus One and now Nexus S are absolutely terrific for getting the pure Google experience, which I think is waaay better than anything else.
That's what I was thinking. I like the updates from Google and I love Vanilla. I think it will be the perfect mate to my xoom. This weekend I'm going to make it to a sprint store and take it for a spin...

I would recommend picking up this device, I picked it up this past weekend and WOW! The first day I was kinda on the fence about it, but after a couple of days with it, my Epic seems like a slug!
The GPS locks on in less than 3 seconds, unlike 3 minutes for the Epic, which is nice.
I'd say go for it!

yea i definitely would. i went from Atrix to Nexus S on AT&T and it's just NICE having the latest OS.

I feel your pain with the epic. My captivate was just as bad. The inspire is just as good with GPS locks but again the web speed is terrible. Good to see there are no major issues with the nexus s.

Its funny but the GPS for the T-mobile nexus S I bought from Bestbuy had horrible GPS lock times that made me not want to spend the money on the At&t version. I even updated it to 2.3.4 and still dint see a difference. I didn't get to root the phone to try out roms but I'm afraid to spend the money and have the GPS not work for me. By putting a custom rom do you guys find the GPS lock time better? I don't know if I should just wait for the Galaxy SII or just get the nexus s since I did love the size of it and overall feel.. decisions decisions... lol
Yes its a good choice to get the Nexus S on Sprint's network. Cheaper plans than Verizon. Plus, Nexus is a pretty sweet phone. Fast and a wonderful screen.

from xda point of view I guess this phone is among the few that got most attention from devs so there is a lot of custom FW available for this little phone.
out of curiosity ... why do you want to buy an older device?
I am sure you have your reasons ... but anyways ... just asking
It's for my lady she played with a galaxy s 4g in a t-mobile store and liked it. she still has a nokia 5800 lol haven't heard back from the person, so... found a galaxy s 4g for $75 lol waiting to hear back as well.

That's up there with Verizon. Verizon LTE goes a little faster but you generally won't use it useless you are getting something off of a server that can move that fast which is rare. Also, that's a lot faster than anything VM and their 3G will ever put out. lol

I can see there are a lot of folks here who has left VM... I just started I use this tread because it looks like some here are reading it. This is my first real Android, been many years on Windows Mob., and it has been a fun ride! But lately I used Android on my TP2, and I wanted to try a real one, and since I didn't like to have a contract I ended up with this...
I have a question about my main issues with this phone. It's the weak/slow 3g bad signal issues that many has confirmed. The other more important for me is the Bluetooth disconnecting issue, and many has others reportet this problem too.
So my question, does any of the build ROM's here solve this per now?
If not I know it will be, because in here is the best of the developers you can find!! Coming from the WM world it has been a lot of issues, but at the very end, I must say my TP2 became perfect after a lot of ROM testing..
Hope someone can give me some feedback asap.. Thanks!

Also, I never really notice the bad 3g speed - I haven't used better, and my home connection is just as bad(well, not as bad).

Hi guys i just have a chance to get an infuse but i am still thinking about so i decided to ask for opinions in the best place there is related to android phones: xda.
So what can you tell me about ics and jelly bean? is the battery good or it sucks taking into account it will not have a new battery but a used one for about a year.
Any help will be really appreciated!!!
thx guys
I don't have the infuse any more but ICS was great on it. Battery would last me all day with 3 hours of screen time with usually 30%+ to spare when I went to bed. The only thing I didn't like about my infuse was the crappy gps. Would drop signal constantly and it would often take a while. The strange thing is that gps apps would take forever to acquire a signal but if I closed the navigation app and loaded gps test I'd get a signal within 5 seconds.
Infuse is awesome GPS is not crappy anymore that has been resolved. So if u can get it do.
The devs here are light years ahead of samsung itself.

If the phone works properly and you are paying a fair price, don't see how you could go wrong - you can buy another battery at some point.
Many great roms by extraordinary developers plus support from lots and lots of helpful, knowledgeable users.

There will be those who diagree with me and I understand why- for me I would be tempted to do it as I have a 10 inch Acer A500 that spends almost all it's time in the case- I use my laptop or my phone and am very pleased with my Infuse. Several have left the Infuse for SGS3 - I have an SGS3 and still enjoy using the Infuse about 25% of the time. As long as you are ok not having the 10in. screen, I hope you make the decision that you are happiest with.
Wow I am sold he he ... naw I love my infuse hmmm tab 10.1 hmmmm

i would do the change with you but you are a little far :laugh:
yep, infuse is a great phone, i sold it for an htc...well lets just say i bought another infuse cause the htc vivid just didnt satisfy me the way the infuse does
You have countless roms to try...so if your a flashaholic...you’ll be in heaven
Tons of helpful people, a friendly community (with the exception of a troll or two every other month...)
i don’t know about other people...but i consider everyone in the infuse section like "family"...not literally but like a little forum family, like a no man left behind kinda group
moral of the story...unless you can get an sgs3 get the infuse!
Hey mg how bout lending a family member a few bucks lol....

If your doing it on a new 2 year contract. I'd say no. You could get something better. Like a HTC one x for $50, Refurbished Galaxy Note $50, sgs3 for $139. I'm waiting for Gnote 2 but if they want over $200 for it I may go with Gnote. Samsung Unpack starts today!
ICS and Jellybean seem to be working awesome here by the way. At least for me.

Bah!! When did the developers make the gps worth a damn? I sold it when I bought my s3.
Zeus 6 ROM had great GPS. And its snappy. I've used it on my vacations. Infuse isn't a bad phone but I'm thinking of upgrading to the Note 1. I think its a good decision coming from an Infuse. Half a gig ram more 1.5 ghz dual core a larger screen , longer battery life. Samsung adding jelly and butter. Also it'll get some of the Note 2 features sounds like a good investment for $50 bucks.

i havent looked to see if still available, but i got my infuse online with AT&T, refurbishd for 1 penny.
i would do that and keep your other stuff too.

But you would need an upgrade to get the penny deal...and I don't think he's using an upgrade...

The Note is for $50 at At&t web only deal refurbished with new contract. I originally wanted the Note 2 but I don't want to wait another 3 or more months to get it. I think they have a refurbed S2 for $39 too..not sure. If your thinking about it get before its banned. Its on Apples hit list.

I have an iPhone 4 now but I had the infuse and it was pretty awesome coming from a Mytouch 4g but I wouldn't get on contract with it...At all.
The battery life isn't that great, neither is gps and video chatting.
I've heard there's better android phones on the market if android is what you're looking for, searching around is best to make sure you buy a phone that's 100% you.
Check out the skyrocket too my ex boyfriend had one of those basically the same as the infuse but the think the battery life is better.
