I'm not one for making my first post to a forum a quest for help, but I'm in a bind and I don't know where else to look. You folks know your stuff and if anyone can help me I'm confident it's someone here.
When booting up my phone will display the AT&T logo for merely a second and then jump to the Samsung logo where it stays. It never moves beyond that logo.
I cannot get into recovery, it just loops through the AT&T and Samsung logos.
I can however get into download mode, and I have used GTG's Ultimate Unbrick but nothing changes.
I've also tried the Factory/Return to Stock options and again, nothing changes.
If anyone has a suggestion I would love to hear/read it.
Thanks in advance,

when you say nothing changes, are you saying that the Unbrick never starts in Odin, or you saying that Odin sees the phone and flashes the stock package and you still get the bootloop.
If odin IS seeing your phone, you CAN get out of the bootloop.
Thank-you for the reply.
Odin recognizes the device, and will flash the stock package, but upon restart the device stops at the Samsung logo.

Did you flash the pit file from GTG UUnBrick? You might need to repartition.
I'm not a developer but I try to play one on XDA. Seriously I'm not a developer. DlevROM Yo!
yes, I flashed the pit file (re-partition option was selected).
If you used the Unbrick....repartition should auto check if you put in the Phone,Pda, and Pit......
but check that anyway.....you never know.
how about flashing a voodoo kernel with odin, get into Recovery that way.....then try flashing another Rom and see if you can get out of that Bootloop. Im actually Doing this RIGHT NOW.
but the unbrick should work if done correctly, i have never had an issue especially if odin is seeing the device.

And yet your still stuck at Samsung logo?

i'll try a voodoo kernel - I'm game for trying anything at this point
ya, I'm stuck at the logo even after flashing the unbrick with pit.
I flahsed the kernel from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1197248 and I'm back in business.
Thank-you again to everyone who replied, offered their help and/or gave advice. I greatly appreciate it.

I got a little happy last night and tried tinkering with my SGS, and ended up causing it not to boot up. It currently just sits at the Samsung Galaxy S 4G logo screen, so now I'm just trying to go back to stock and start over.
I do not have odin (still not really sure what it is), but I do have CWM and I've wanted to flash this rom; but towards the end of the thread, some users say not to flash this and to use some other rom with odin instead.
Also, this rom won't even flash in CWM. It just says "installation aborted."
Thanks
I just tried flashing this with Odin, using these instructions, and I just got the bricked screen......
Can someone please help me.
recover a nandroid backup...
If you can't figure out Odin, but can boot into recovery, reinstall packages to get into CWM. Then you can restore to your last nandroid backup.
I can no longer boot into recovery or download. I'm stuck at the screen with the phone and computer with the yellow triangle in between. Odin still recognizes my phone when I plug it in (I think), but that's it. Also, I don't understand what there is to "figure out" about odin anyway. I followed the directions exactly, and the flash simply failed in Odin and when I rebooted, I got stuck at the bricked screen.
Looks like a trip to T-Mobile is in order...

YOU DID NOT BRICK YOUR PHONE!!!!!
when i pulled the cord on my phone during download mode and odin it gave me the same screen as you
THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT ITS BRICKED
your computer will still recognize your phone and SO WILL ODIN!
that screen is basically another download mode
heres what you do:
download whitehawkx kd1 deodexed
go into download mode like you normally would and plug the phone in
you will notice that odin still recognizes your phone
in odin ONLY press the PDA option and then choose whitehawkx PDA_KD1 file
flash and wait for reset.... then BAM your phone has the new kd1 rom and its not bricked
i promise you the screen your getting doesnt mean a brick, ive seen that screen like 10 times throughout my flashing days
^ omfg man, you seriously just saved my entire Sunday. I have no idea why it didn't work like this when I first tried it, I literally went through the same steps.
Thank you so much.

yea you need:
Odin
any sgs4g rom like whitehawkx kd1 deodexed
take your battery out, put it back in and hold both the up and down volume buttons, then while holding them down plug your phone into your computer via usb and you will enter DOWNLOAD MODE from there you open odin on your computer and click only the PDA option look for the whitehawkx pda_kd1 file you downloaded and click start
that should fix it
Biggggggggggg Thanks
Sorry but I started a new thread ... before you answered.. my bad.. but on the new thread.. I have a few questions
Have similar problems plz help.

Flash it with one of the options you've been linked to by Kyndig. The first two are for Odin the last for Heimdall. That's an alternate DL mode your looking at. It still works the same.

I was trying to install kj1 kernal thru heimdall one click I dont know how I messed up on such simple process but now my phone is stuck on a black screen with a pic of cell phone on the left and a yellow triangle with "!" in the middle and a computer on the right, and under it all it says "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies and try again."
I have the galaxy s 4g it was running on 2.3.6 when i bought it before trying to flash the kernal
What i did was,
1st i install the java from link, then had phone in download mode ran the one click, hit flash, it looked like it was working and installig the kernal but ended up failing. i den unpluged it from usb and tried to reboot it but it didnt do anything stayd in download mode, so i took out battery n hit the power button then the black screen saying select recovery mode in kies came on. please help i need my phone.
The upshot is you're basically in a download mode. I've never used Heimdall but that's because I'm lazy Try using ODIN 1.85, put the kernel in the PDA section, and flash it. There's a chance you might need to re-flash a ROM to get it going again if just flashing the kernel does not work.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

I find that after my phone was UnBrickable Mod'd that I've seen quite a few ways the phone 'soft-bricks' and the funky ways that dl mode and the 'phone <-> computer' screen's behave.
I have a Samsung Infuse, quite similar to the Galaxy S2. I tried to flash a new rom xdadeveloppers taken out of gingerbread. I thought I followed the steps correct. When you finish flashing the phone was restarted. Appeared a strange color for a ratoy then boot logo. Stayed there. He constantly repeats the startup logo, the end of the animation starts again. There is no way to get into recovery. Before I could do from the tight manteniento Rom Manager or volume buttons + and volume - and turning the device appeared to reinstall options packages, etc.. Now it's impossible, just start and stay in the startup animation repeatedly.
Can you think of someone a solution? Maybe I damaged the internal sdcard partitions or something else. I would appreciate any suggestions.
If not the right place to raise the issue, if not, sorry. Thanks in advance
GTG Ultimate Unbrick back to stock and try again. Make sure you read up on everything from rooting to installing bootloaders to flashing a rom.
Big Dog Infuse I997 ZEUS Rom B3
wrong bootloaders for gb.
flash a leak in odin. or try out my heimdall package. heimdall isn't hard to use.
also what rom? hope it was out of the infuse section cuz the infuse is not similar to the sgs2...

This was what I was thinking too.
Hi, I'm new to posting on these forums but I have been on here for a while and appreciate the work of the devs on the roms available. I have a problem, and I haven't been able to find any threads of anyone having this problem before.
My Infuse was stock froyo and working fine. I then updated it to stock 2.3.6 with ODIN with option c from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613523
After that, I immediately updated it to the unofficial cm9 and the problems started. The phone would work fine, but in about 10 minutes of use, it would restart by itself and go into a boot loop. Sometimes the samsung logo would loop only twice and restart. Other times it can loop up to 50 times before restarting.
I noticed I had a rainbow CWM screen so I updated to the GB bootloader through ODIN. Didn't work. I then went back to stock 2.3.6 with odin. Didn't work. I then went back to stock 2.2 froyo through ODIN and re-partioned the PIT file. Still boot loops. I'm stumped.
Anyone have any idea what's causing this? I appreciate it
So you are able to enter download mode and successfully flash something? Somehow something appears to have been corrupted..
My only suggestion would be to try "one click unbrick" and see if that does the job

All of the "one click unbricks" say that it isn't necessary if the phone is able to enter download mode. Is it still ok to try?
tried one click unbrick and it wouldn't allow me to use it. I then tried going to stock 2.3.6 using heimdall and still have the same problem.
I don't think its a problem with the rom, it has to be something else. But its not a hardware problem since it started once I used ODIN for the first time.
That's strange.. one click unbrick should have been able to run and reboot your phone. It probably would not solve your problem but should have at least ran successfully.
Sent from my sweet and buttery Infuse
one click unbrick just said something like, "if the phone is plugged in and everything is fine then visit resolution center".
Hey! from my phone, it freezes on the samsung image when is boots up. It stays there forever. I'm pretty sure it is bricked. I rooted my phone, then tried to install some kind of font switch that is required for a root phone. After that it told me to restart my phone, did exactly that, and now my phone is stuck on the samsung logo screen. I have odin, and now im just looking for a stock rom for it. I did a factory reset, but that didnt work either. Can anybody help me?

oh yea... its for verizon by the way.
Did you install the verizon update manager? You should be able to do a repair. As for the stock Rom we are working on that right now.
Oh and you can follow us on these sites so you can keep up with what we're doing with the phone:
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-stellar-4g-lte-all-things-root/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1902170&page=2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32269460
WELL... thanks. And no i didn't install the verizon update manager.. What's that? And please let me know as soon as the stock ROM comes out or any word of it,... or yea... hahaha. im really stuck on it. I really wish things could work out.
You'll find the Verizon Update Manager at the 13th post of the 2nd link I posted here. You'll also need a Dropbox account.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1902170&page=2
Before you do that, however, can you get into recovery mode? Hold down the home button, VOL Up, and the power button to enter into recovery mode.
If you cannot enter recovery mode, please be patient as we try to get a stock ROM uploaded.
You also can help us. Since your phone is rooted, you can make a backup of the stock recovery if it still works. If you're familiar with ADB you should try looking at the last post of my link: you'll see a command there to extract the recovery.

well i can.. i can get into recovery mode. Thats how i tried the factory reset... and it didn't work. I am currently at school... so ill try to do the ADB command this weekend. I was looking at that post earlier. but.. as i said before, but my phone won't fully turn on. It's stuck at the "samsung" logo. that's where it stops. Just curious is the Verizon update manager the same as VZAccess Manager? And the link on the post its the bootstrap helper.exe... that one am i correct?
Verizon has several names for its features but I do belive the VZ Access manager is different. I just pulled up the app and found that it's actually callied "Verizon Upgrade Assistant"...which really means "kiss your custom rooted ROM goodbye" in the future when everything works well.
I have someone trying to upload a stock ROM and I'll get back to you when you can download the ROM. My phone's bricked as well so all I can do is sit, wait, and gather information. I've been without this blasted phone for nearly two weeks so don't feel too bad; you're not alone.
I appreciate the help you can give for the recovery option as if we all can get some stock ROMs extracted, the REAL devs can start having fun with this phone...hopefully we will too.
