Think its time, almost decided to sell the charge - Verizon Droid Charge

I've tried, Debated, installed, formated, reinstalled, reflashed....every different ROM / kernal / radio that I can find on the internet for this phone.
Its a great phone for a user that will NEVER want anything more than a Phone....but......
.....I turned on my INCREDIBLE today and updated it to the latest MIUI and just generally brought it back to current ROM technology and was just amazed...
...so like I said...I gave the Charge a shot, nobody got behind it like I hoped and i'll sell it...use the incredible til I decide on weather or not to get the nexus prime, or I dare say it an iPhone (highly unlikely) but i'm tired of all the fragmentation in the droid world...was WAY WAY WAY better when there were just 5 or 6 "KINGS" out there....
I really don't know what the carriers or device makers are thinking...did apple's success on ONE device not teach the industry anything? Its a better model long term...PICK ONE maybe a few...but jesus...30 phones a year is ridiculous...does nothing besided upset your customers that you captured from a very real competitor....that is dagerous.
I'm still android...I just hope the nexus prime gets a HUGE following....just want a following that my Incredible still seems to have...but it is falling.
Anyway...i'm rambling and frustrated that my year and a half old phone can outperform my 4 month old phone in EVERY category but one 4G, which I can live without.
Haven't made the decision complete yet....but I just don't know what else to do...anybody feel the same?

Definitely feel the same man. Especially with soooooo many phones being released. Quality, not quantity.

Crazy you did this. I just traded my Charge for the Incredible 2 today to keep as my backup to the galaxy nexus. Charge got pretty pathetic.

Only outperforms because of 4g? Forgotten about our better screen, hdmi out, better camera and better audio chip, have we?
I definitely understand where you're coming from though. I used to have a fascinate which ended up getting all that good aosp stuff and for that reason (along with the form factor) part of me does regret switching the two.
I plan on doing something similar by selling the charge and using an old smartphone (Htc vogue with cm7 b*tch!) before getting the GN.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk

Yup same deal. This phone has a nice screen.. thatsit. M wife has my old incredible and I keep it up to date for her. Its so much better. It is the amoled one and it rocks. Ya charge has hdmi out.. when was the last time any of you actually used it for a purpose other than showing it off? Lol.
But why the nexus? Its another samsung ..been dissapointed with all samsungs so far. Who cares about ics . We are flashers we don't care about stock software. Besides.. I like gps's that work.. u know what im talking about.
The htc rezound is what im going for... gonna go back go my htc roots. Like you said.. the incredible has a huge following. Htc sense is bad ass and 3.5 is going to be sense sweetness. Before december there will be an ics rom for it..
Im done with samdung.....

It would be nice to see something new and refreshed come out for this phone. Seems like most of the dev support we had jumped ship to the bionic.

I stick with this ****burglar of a phone because Ev-DO is garbage in my area whereas LTE is actually pretty easy to get ahold of. Also, I love having a Wolfson DAC and Voodoo Sound.
I got my buddy onto a DroidInc with CM and he really loves it, but it wouldn't have been the right decision for me. I'm paying Verizon prices for LTE, and it's pretty clear that being forced to tolerate a heaping helping of Samsung's incompetence is collateral damage from that choice.
In a year or whatever when this phone has finally evolved into a seasoned specimen that runs CM properly and is way out of the limelight, it will be seen positively -- people will be quick to recommend it as a solid phone with LTE, a good DAC, and a non-PenTile AMOLED screen that you can pick up on craigslist for about a hundred bucks.
"Just make sure you load CyanogenMod as soon as you get it home," they'll say. "The stock software is really a mess."
It's just too bad that most of us here voluntarily subsidized this flaming leprosy parade for $250+ and a monster contract.

The Charge is only my second Android phone. The Fascinate was my first. Although my experience is only based on Samsung, I still think Samsung offers superb phones and I will continue to buy them. I've played around with other phones. My brother had an old Eris and a buddy had an EVO off Sprint. I like the screens on Samsung better and I like how easy it is to Flash Roms. Its true that official OS releases are slow but I blame Verizon more than Samsung. Maybe I'm just lucky but I haven't had too many issues with my Charge and like it. I've enjoyed the screen, the audio, the physical buttons, and my phone runs pretty fast with lagfix. I have this phone tweaked out pretty good. Yes, it would be nice to have also but can't complain too much how it is running at present. I've experienced virtually none of the problems others report. I haven't had to turn my phone in to Verizon tech or anything .....same phone I got from the get go. I'm not oblivious to some of the complaints. I just don't have any of my own really. I like it although I will be going to the Nexus as soon as it comes out but not based on a dislike of my Charge. I just like to upgrade every year.

Yes screens on sammys are awesome. But easy to flash roms? No.its not hard I guess.. but compared to other phones its a *****.
Take the dinc for isntance. All roms flashes through rom manager. You have 50+ roms all instantly available to you. With the push of a single button you can load a new rom... don't like it and want your old one back? No problem push another button and go right back to what you were just running
Hell you could have a differrent rom for every day of the week if you wanted. Do a little playing with the other heavy hitting smartphones. Real playing .. buy one.. own it. Use it as your own. And you will agree.
The sole reason I got the samsung was so I could have first hand experience with one. I like to know about everything out there based on my own opinions and not others. I had friends with samsungs.. the captivate and the fascinate and one with the infuse. So I got the charge to see what the fuss was about.
The result of 6 months of ownership? Nice screen... the rest is **** tho
I've tried and tried to like it.. if there weren't so many other phones that were better, it would be a fantastic phone..
Samsung has disappointed me with their android devices. Just google "samsung gps problems". If your phone doesn't lock in <5 sec inside your house using standalone gps accurate to 3 feet.. why not? The other phones on the market do. Hell this one has actually locked on my position.. accurate to 10 feet.. and been moving with me down the road.. the only problem was it had me 500 miles away.. how is that even possible lol.
Ya.. this will be the last samsung phone I own. Will only own samsung tvs tho

He was referring to Super AMOLED Plus. And yes, Nexus has pentile, but from the reports that I've read, higher resolution at 720p seems to cover that up.

I simply noted it because he specifically refered to it while also saying the prime would be his next choice. I saw contradiction and called it.

Yeah the screen on the Galaxy Nexus is going to be completely fine, I was referring to the Droid Charge's non-PenTile as a perk compared to other similiarly-valued Verizon devices -- specifically, the Bionic, the X2, the Fascinate, and the first-revision DroidInc.
I have the sneaking suspicion that once the Galaxy Nexus hits you're going to be able to buy secondhand Bionics, Charges, and Thunderbolts for pretty equivalent low prices. The GN looks killer, but its existence isn't going to retroactively remove lovely hardware features (S-AMOLED+, Voodoo Sound) from the Charge. And the Charge certainly sucks now, but it's only going to get better with time.
Funny how the people who pay the highest prices get the ****tiest experience, and the ones who saunter in a year late after the wonderful development community has beaten the phone into something usable get the best experience for the lowest price.

My phone "isn't charging very well" and I have a new one being mailed to me. So now my ebay listing will be for a "new droid charge" instead of a used one. Should pull 500 easy. Plenty to buy a rezound or prime off contract

Hardware is crap? Lololol.
So people are disappointed it's not a quad core phone with an 8mp camera, no sd card slot, no Exynos chip, and no keyboard(Wtf?). Seriously, the specs on the Galaxy Nexus are top notch. People just complain because it's not what they dreamed of.
Let's break it down.
-Galaxy Nexus has a 5mp camera. "o noes! No super high rez 8mp shooter!!!11! " Megapixels don't mean much. Example: the iPhone 4's and Galaxy S' 5mp cameras destroyed the Droid X's and Evo's 8mp camera. What mainly matters is the sensor.
-It has a TI OMAP 4460(I think) processor with an overclocked gpu. Almost no apps on the Market are optimized for multiple core processors. Up until recently, even our OS didn't take advantage of them. I think this is plenty.
-HD Super Amoled is pentile. Big whoop. With that pixel density, no one will notice. Let's see, what would you prefer? An HD Super Amoled screen or a slightly inferior S-LCD HD screen? Both will most likely have similar pixel densities.
-No SD card slot. How many times do you remove your SD card? I thought so.
-It has a barometer. Why? To get even more accurate GPS readings.
The only thing I hope for is that it has a great DAC like the Galaxy S and Droid Charge.

Google teaming with samsung - fail?

I believe that new Nexus S will let the google down. I had many issues with samsung products in the past, and I saw glitching stock vibrants. What you guys personally think about it?
I think Samsung wants to screw over their current customers. Then again, I am assuming they are doing this because of the leaks.
Yay, lets mix freedom and complete control and see what we get.... It's retarded and the nexus name is forever tarnished.
I would have loved to see the Nexus line stay with HTC but let's face it, they didn't do a great job with the Nexus One. Crappy digitizer and failing power buttons...
Nexus supposed to be the Android of all androids... But with samsung it will drown. I think dead buttons is nothing compare to a brick, which Nexus S will turn for sure.
Galaxy S phones failed big time. Lagging like hell and freezing. Not to mention previous samsung phones.
I could be wrong too. Lets see how Nexus S will go. Maybe samsung learned the lesson.
Do any of you guys have the phone? Did you create a thread just to bash something you haven't used? I have mine OCed to 1.4 GHz, running stable with CM7. Everything is blazing fast, as lag free as reasonably possible, and I have quadrant scoring at 3700+. Let me know when you can beat that.

Used one for 3 days before wishing the world was flat so I could throw it off the edge. Even with the "new version" the fragmentation compared to the first version of windows phone 7 is just awful. After playing with it I cant find much if any difference from 2.2. If I wanted to throw money away like that I'd buy a vibrant on craigslist for 150, add a front facing camera, then use it as toilet paper that being the most practical use for galaxy S garbage.

Nope, happy with WP7, boy it's great to not lag on the homescreen
The Nexus S is a Samsung product that actually works. They've actually put a lot more effort in the Nexus S than they have the Galaxy S, which is sad to see on many levels. With the build of the Nexus S, and the power of hummingbird, the Nexus S is what all Galaxy S phones should have been. My Moment was a brick in terms of build, dropped it all the time but nothing went wrong with it. But the fact that it had no real hardware support for openGL, was built on 1.5 even though 1.5 didn't support CDMA, and the network issues were so far up there, I'd have to reset my phone 3 times a day! I had to send it back 2 more times and the same thing over and over! Rooting wouldn't help either! So they try to pawn the Intercept off to me as an "upgrade." A smaller resolution that most apps don't support, a slower network, and no Amoled screen? That's not an upgrade. When I had my Epic, the build quality was okay, nothing close to what my Evo is though. But I was tired of waiting for an update that should have come stock on the phone! With a phone like the Galaxy S there is no reason is should have shipped with 2.1! I'm glad Google is the one supporting the Nexus S and not Samsung, because then the Nexus S would have been stuck on 2.3 for half a year after the next Android comes out. I wouldn't mind the Nexus S, but that would be the only Samsung phone I would buy now. After 2 that had terrible support from Samsung, yeah right.

Disagree with you a little bit there. I've got a Samsung TV, and Bluray player and both are amazing. It's their phone products that aren't too great. The Nexus S like I said, is what the Galaxy S should have been.
Samsung's hardware is amazing in my opinion.. Their tv's are the best,, and we saw it on our samoled screens.. I show my phone's picture to people and they are wowed... My vibrant is nice rooted on froyo.. But stock.... It's a piece of...
Thank xda for awesome developers.
samsung's software (touch wiz) sucks..
they don't release updates or keep their word.. They piss enough people off. But people keep coming back..
The nexus is saved by google. but honestly.. The nexus one set new standards on upcoming android phones. We didn't see much competition.. The nexus s came out.. With the same hardware we saw two seasons ago.. New standards? Na I don't think so.. instead we are looking forward to dual core phones.. 4g capable phones.. And to me the nexus isnt much of a difference from what we already had.. Cmon samsung! You should have surprised us with new shzz!
Still love my Vibrant though.. Just wish it was officially on froyo, had an FFC, perhaps some 4g capability... Psh.. I WISH! -__-"
Here I agree. I have samsung tv myself, and it is good. I also had their portable audio players, but they were bad. Nexus S has no sd card slot, 16 gb isnt bad, but what about powerusers? No 3G + support, full 4G coverage is still in the far future. Processor is still the same as in previous phones. No gig of ram. Its like a tiny upgrade of nexus one, not counting 4G and front camera. Oh wait, isnt back camera is 5 megapixels?
They should stop making dozens of models, and create 1 master phone, that kicks asses.

That's sort of what they do now. They have two basis for their major phones.
Hummingbird
or
Samsung S3C6410
They've used Hummingbird in all of their high end phones, and the S3 in their mid-low end phones, and their older flagships like the Spica, the Moment. It's used now in another Galaxy phone I know(Not sure which one), I believe the Behold II has the cpu just not clocked as high, the Transform uses it, and the Intercept uses it.
I have sold my Wave S8500 and Galaxy I5800...I have learned my lesson.....No more Samsung produtcs for me.
Bad quality hardware and bad software support (updates, etc.) and bad customer service.
Google is making a huge mistake here!!
put simply...samsung hardware rocks, but samsung software blows. they really need to dump touchwiz and start from scratch...but imagine htc sense running on a galaxy s...epic win
I own both a Nexus one and a Nexus S. The NS is by far the better phone. Sure the N1 has metal and looks great it is in no way comparable to the NS. No android phone out right now compares with the NS.

G2x > Galaxy Nexus

Here is why I love my G2x OVER the Galaxy Nexus
1) I have this phone on a two year contract
2) HDMI Port, as small as it is, I don't want to use a dongle or any crap thing like that to hook up my phone as an hdmi output
2) Micro SD Card. They didn't mention it....and I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung left this out.....such as the Galaxy Tab 10.1
3) 8MP Camera, the camera on the G2x is SOLID. If LG could just get their as*es in gear and get this working fully on a new Ice Cream Sandwich rom.
4) The Nexus is better only because of the Super AMOLED and Ice Cream Sandwich. I personally can live without the AMOLED and I know for a fact if LG doesn't update to Ice Cream Sandwich that the Awesome Devs here will.
First person that has a full working ICS rom for the G2x I am donating too, and I would suggest others do as well, This is how we keep the G2x on top.
The G2x is a BEAST.....And I love that I picked this phone.
Thanks to all the support from the Devs, can't wait to see the wicked work you guys put into this next generation of Android.
If LG was smart they would get a beta test of Ice Cream Sandwich out on this phone like yesterday. This phone can take on the NExUS
What's all of your thoughts? Still glad you have the G2x? Think it's better than the Nexus?

1- you should love when ur not on contract...keeps options open.
2- really? 16-32 gb is plenty especially with cloud based services on the horizon
3-wow....samsung makes some of the best cameras on mobiles. MP don't determine everything...
4- amoled....isp close enough for me.....but without source ICS might be tough

32gb is less than my g2x. i have a 100GB music collection and i'd like to take as much with me as possible; g2x has onboard storage (4GB? 8GB?) on top of my 32GB card. 8GB makes a huge difference, especially when there will likely be no expandable memory.
true, MP doesn't mean everything. but isn't this very similar, if not basically the same camera as the nexus s? even if the camera performs well, i think it's a little cheap to not give it a 3MP bump to 8MP.
Cool 100gb of music.....if your not using spotify to stream amd trying to put 100gb of mudic on a mobile your an idiot.....true the bump in the cam would be nice...but if they had to squeeze a smaller sensor to pack in all the other goodies then ill take it...

if you're going to try to call me an idiot, please do so with proper grammar. it's a bit hard to take you seriously when you can't even present yourself intelligibly.
clearly, i don't put 100GB of music on my mobile; it was merely an example. the GN skimped on storage, plain and simple. the iPhone gets a lot of flack for being slightly behind the technological curve but even now, it's offered in 64GB. why is this not the same? a bit lacking if you ask me. android phones have come out and absolutely destroyed the iPhone's specifications. i expected a lot more from google and samsung if this was truly going to be a revolutionary phone. it's clearly not.
also, an 8MP sensor is barely larger than a 5MP sensor; that's far from a reasonable excuse for not including it, especially considering how huge the handset is. with EU prices announced, the intention clearly wasn't to make the smartphone cheap. this is the new flagship device for the entire android platform- i can't be alone in being disappointed.

+1. IMO your main reason is money. Cos clearly, the next Nexus will probably be thee best phone in the market once its released. I bet if you had the money to buy the Galaxy Nexus you wouldn't say that about the G2x.
And yes i do love my G2X but Technology is way too fast to keep up with...so there will always be better phones than our beloved G2X.

I was hoping for something strong enough to really slap apples iPhone 4s out but we will see.
As far as this g2x versus a prime?
Prime I would love to have cuz its faster and more than likely gonna get all the updates in the word

Here is why I love my G2x OVER the Galaxy Nexus
1) I have this phone on a two year contract I buy off contract
2) HDMI Port, as small as it is, I don't want to use a dongle or any crap thing like that to hook up my phone as an hdmi output HDMI port on my G2x feels like it's gonna break off you have to shove the plug in so hard, and slight movement causes it to cut out. Neither T-Mobile or LG will do anything...but HDMI out is great on other phones
2) Micro SD Card. They didn't mention it....and I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung left this out.....such as the Galaxy Tab 10.1 I've never added storage beyond an 8gb card...most of my streaming is on wi-fi, and if data use is really that big a deal I can tether to my Sprint lines...at this point the cloud is where it's at
3) 8MP Camera, the camera on the G2x is SOLID. If LG could just get their as*es in gear and get this working fully on a new Ice Cream Sandwich rom. G2x camera is great, but if the sensor is even higher quality on the GN I can deal with a MP drop...
4) The Nexus is better only because of the Super AMOLED and Ice Cream Sandwich. I personally can live without the AMOLED and I know for a fact if LG doesn't update to Ice Cream Sandwich that the Awesome Devs here will. 1280x720 4.6" SAMOLED....uhhhh....no phone will even compare after seeing that screen. I bought a GS2 for pretty much the screen alone, and this is even better. 480x800 is annoying after using qHD, after using GN it will be going from a CinemaDisplay to a netbook. ICS looks amazing

Gotta say, i dont agree. GN is a worthy upgrade based on the 4.6" 1280x720 curved screen alone. But besides that...lack of physical buttons will rock, NFC will be cool in the future, it's thin and big at the same time...honestly, what more could you want? This pretty much epitomizes the current generation of phones. I can't wait to get mine.

The galaxy nexus is gonna **** on everything, specs don't really mean alot to me real world testing does. Everyone said the same thing about the Nexus S when it came out because it wasn't dual core but it can hold its own against almost any phone out. The specs on the galaxy Nexus are good they go together like the Omap processor is mainly because of the HD screen since omap has IV3. watch how many ppl get the Nexus when it drops, most ppl are getting iPhones so they can resell them cuz ppl will pay so much not cuz its a great phone IMO

Absolutley they did, why wouldn't they use their in house superior Exynos and Mali GPU? They want to push their own brand and Google accepted it. Google is to blame for that not Samsung.
It's cool that you're content with the G2x as I am. But in no way is this better than the GN. The 1280x720 is now native on Android on ICS. So no matter what devs can do, ICS will never be native on this phone. Plus it's super amoled HD... G2x can't touch that. And the camera ain't even close, the GN takes amazing pictures and video, plus that instant zero shutter lag is pretty awesome.
I love the G2x as much as you do. But it's not even in the same league as the GN.

agreed. the g2x is solid, even performs better than other dual-core 1.0ghz+ phones (benchmark 200+ higher than my brothers rooted sensation at 1.2). i think people are just displeased with the announcement. some serious upgrades, yes (ICS, ridiculous screen, etc) but some features are just lacking. it was the same with the nexus s (single core, no notification light, etc). if you're paying for a GN, i'm sure you understand the piece of technology you're getting your hands on; you're willing to pay for every feature that they're willing to put into the device. if google and samsung are concerned about overpricing the handset, they should be aware that their demographic for this device is specific and that demographic is willing to pay.
i'm selling my g2x and buying a GSII or GN. it's still an amazing device, just less of a powerhouse than some people thought.
Wow you all are aware that after the release of this phone, there is gonna be a butt load of better phones to follow really soon. I mean nvidia had to wait for this phone to be released so they can start pushing tegra 3 devices.
I am sure by Christmas we will have quad core phones available and all who ran out and bought this GN or GS2 will be upset.
I got this g2x for like 200 on Amazon no contract.
I have had the option for a new phone for awhile but why would I when this phone rocks?
Besides my next device is the Vita!

True, but those better devices won't be Nexus devices. That is the big difference. After using multiple dual core processors including Tegra 2, I don't think I want any part of Tegra 3.

Yeah but it's a Nexus man. Same thing with the Nexus S, its hardware got eclipsed in a couple of months when the Atrix came out and the Nexus S was still smoother. In real world applications the Nexus S has been the smoothest phone up until probably the Bionic came out, everything else was either bogged down by Sense 3.0 or just plain out laggy like the Atrix. If we're talking out of the box, and with no custom ROM's, the Nexus line is always the smoothest and fastest, and the direct support from Google is what you're paying for.
Honestly I'm disappointed in the new hardware specs too. I wanted it to blow the iPhone 4S out of the water so I could show everyone that Android is truly superior. Now I have to rely on showing them pictures of ICS. And unfortunately most of them are too stupid to understand camera app settings, so that'll be of little help!
Should've gotten like a quad-core, 16mp camera, 2gb ram, hdmi port, 1080p screen, 320gb internal memory, and much more.

Have a Thunderbolt and Verizon is Offering me a Replacement to Another Phone

Guys...
I have a Thunderbolt and due to the length of time I have been with Verizon and issues I have had, they are giving me a new phone of my choice (not a refurb).
What phone would you all go to (those who root and use custom ROMs) if you had your choice of any phone. Keep in mind I have always liked Sense Rom's but have never had a Motorola phone or a Nexus.
Please let me know!!!!
Thanks so much and have a happy new year!!!

I'm personally not very fond of Sense & Motoblur UI. I would suggest the Galaxy Nexus, especially if they are giving you a new phone (hopefully free for you) and one of the major reasons why I would is first and foremost the HD Super AMOLED screen in general PLUS it having a 1280x720 resolution on that beautiful 4.6" screen (black pixels actually turn off instead of illuminating and looking wasted out and colors are 10X more vibrant), the 1.2GHz dual-core processor, PURE Google phone so no custom UI and you get all the updates before any other phone, Android 4.0 (Mmm), 1850mAh battery (soooo much better than the Thunderbolt) and 1080p video recording.
For me that is the only phone that I would go with, especially as far as what phones are out now on Verizon (which aren't that impressive). That HD Super AMOLED screen is just too sweet to pass up!

In my opinion I would say so because the Razr has an ugly amount of bezel around the LCD and the resolution is only 960x540 and has the Motoblur overlay and the Rezound is not too bad of a phone, I am just not too much of a fan of the Sense overlay either. I'm not sure but I think quad-core phones won't appear until around Quarter 2 or so of 2012.
Waiting is always not a bad idea, but the Galaxy Nexus is definitely worth it, again IMO. haha hopefully I was some help.

That's pretty messed up. If that's the case though, The HTC Rezound is a no brainier. It's similar spec'd and the display is gorgeous.
Think I should wait for the spring and keep my tbolt? Or is the Rezound or Nexus really worth it??

Find out the most expensive phone they'll give you. Take that value, presuming it's lower than the Nexus, and offer to pay the difference.
howd you get a replacement? They sent me like 5 refurbs. Then finally they sent me a bionic, refurb, and I'm not real thrilled with it. It keeps forcing updates then failing and losing all my data. Kinda tired of dealing with these issues after paying 2400+ a year. At this point I would like to see if the rezound is any better, but they want me to shell out another 250 for the "privilege" of an early upgrade.

Don't get a Charge
I had 2 thunderbolts and then did the charge when the random reboot started. Waited for the TB and glad I went back no comparison. Slow, everything, gps, data, email etc. Had a TB a month now and loving it.
I liked my bolt before it was rooted, now that it's rooted I love the sh*t out of it....but if you're in the mood for a change, I agree with the recommendation for the Nexus. I got to play with one for a good hour or so last week and really fell in love. I'm not 100% sure if it was the hardware or ICS that really appealed to me, but since you can get both at the same time, why not go for it?
I personally like the RAZR quite a bit too, but all things being equal, Nexus seems like the way to go.
I'm in the wait crowd. I want the specs of the nexus, but its got some important omissions. The GPU isn't up to snuff for a brand new top of the line phone, and its got no expansion slot for a microsd card. And, did I read the battery isn't user changeable?
I was excited by the nexus, but if the SGS3 is quad core, Super amoled HD (RGB, not pentile) and it can take a memo card, its worth the wait. I'm not so excited about the nexus since it came out.

Hey, sorry about being away, for a while, long story. But the first one that I bought came with bad light leaks. The second one came badly scractched and dented. The next one was the one I had the bulk of the time, but the headphone jack ended up dieing. I was sent a replacement for that which came with a broken ear piece. The final one came with a damaged battery cover, which I just swapped with the previous phone, so no big deal.
The biggest complaint I have had is that they tried to charge me for one of the phones I had sent back, which took at least a half dozen calls and many hours to get fixed. They had sent me text messages saying that they had recieved the phone, but then a series of text messages saying that they were going to charge me for the phone not being returned. It took taking to a manager to check the future bills and a couple forms filled out for them to refund the charge.
More later...

I'm on my 7th or 8th Thunderbolt. I've been having intermittent POP3 email problems ever since I've had the phone(s). I went to a Verizon store a couple of times recently when I had the issue and noticed that with the exact same settings, the Galaxy and the Rezound worked while the Thunderbolt did not. The Bionic and Razr also did not work.
Anyway, they won't let me have anything except for a Charge or Revolution. I think the Revolution is a lesser phone than the Thunderbolt, and I don't know if my POP3 account would work on the Charge. I would've tried it out, but either the store didn't have it or it wasn't working if they did.
Has anyone come across this same issue before? If so, what amount (and nature) of convincing did it take to get them to offer something better?

I've been debating the same thing. If gaming isn't your thing, I'd go for the NS. It already has ICS, we'll get ICS "by summer". A couple of things still don't work on CM7 through no fault of their own, it's NVIDIA's closed drivers, so the same will probably happen on CM9. I know they said they'd help the development community but it's already January and we haven't seen anything so I'm not holding my breath.

Nexus S IMO, I"m actually trying to trade mine as well for a Nexus S. I like SAMOLED better and some thing's on the G2x just bug me. Samsung just makes the best phones IMO, plus it's a Google phone. Can't go wrong with that one. And with Tegra being closed source it'd troublesome to dev on.

I disagree. There's no better chipset for gaming than Tegra2. You'll be hard pressed to find another phone that, when overclocked, hits 100 FPS. Just my opinion.
The NS is hype, a brand, and a loyal group of followers...none of which merit the glorification it receives. G2x is in every way a better phone; the resale value bit mentioned before is complete bull****. The NS sells for the same, if not more than the G2x. I think it's complete bull****. G2x blows the NS out of the water. You can keep an active community, but to me, it comes down to specs. NS is old and can't compare to newer, better technology.

I don't care how many cores is in a phone. as long as it works how it should, and the g2x was not doing that FOR ME. Take an iPhone 3gs for instance, I don't think it even had a 1ghz processor yet its as smooth as a 1ghz android.

How's the NS? What's your thoughts after trading? Pros and cons?
My Pros of NS:
Super Amoled
Endless dev support & official Google support
Camera quality looks better
No memory leaks=multitasking King even with 512mb of ram!
My Pros of G2x:
Dual Core Processor!
Micro SD slot
Gorgeous looking device!
Although both the NS and G2x have a 4 inch screen, the G2x screen just looks much bigger and I love the almost natural looking whites.
My Cons of NS:
Single Core Processor
Screen attracts finger prints like crazy and so does the entire phone!
My Cons of G2x:
Lack of drivers=lack of excellent quality roms (no offense to the devs)!
Camera sucks so bad!!! I know its a software issue since the camera was way better with LG's camera app on official Froyo (I've owned a G2x before)
Battery life SMH! Need I explain?
Conclusion: I love both phones. Either phone fits me well since all I really look for is a phone that makes/receives calls, browse the internet well and text. I'm pretty simple. I love the G2x hardware, just hate LG for letting it go to waste. This phone really had and still has potential to be something great. It definitely is better than the NS when it comes to hardware, but software wise the NS has this phone by a long shot.
Luckily I haven't had any random reboots or overheating as my other G2x did in the past. And I notice very little screen bleeding so I'm happy!

T-Mobile SGS2 vs G2x VS Sensation?

So I've narrowed my choices down to the Sensation 4G, SGS2, And G2X.
I was a EVO 4G, and EVO 3D owner from sprint, thats why the Sensation is up their. As a tech guy, not having a phone is killing me on the inside. I REALLY like the SGS2 with its huge and vibrant screen. But the G2x is MUCH cheaper (I'm a student and I have really no credit, I have to pay $200 deposit w/ any contract) and the G2x specs don't look too bad, no 4G though ): I tested the 4G in my area at the local store and got ~22mb/s at the store on the demo phone... Could probably get even better... I can wait until next week for the extra $$$ to get the SGS2 (I do have enough for it now, but not for everything else and diving into my savings is a big no-no for me). Whats the cyanogen community like for these 2 phones? I WILL be putting it on either phone... I know CES is in a few days, but its not like a Tegra 3 phone will be coming out anytime soon. The Tmobile SGS2 has the snapdragon S3 CPU/GPU, the G2x is Tegra 2 while the Sensation is the S2? If anybody has owned any of these phones and can tell me about using them, that would be great. I need the pro's and cons and cons and the hidden problems.
I have the G2x which i absolutely love!! No Problems whatsoever, lots of development too. However if I had a choice i would probably get the SGS2. Just because It looks Awesome! i see/feel no big difference in perfomance personally when i played with it in the store, but that again was only in the store. As im sure youve read, there are a few G2x's out there that have there issues, screen bleed (minor) Reboots (sucks), etc. I was blessed to have one with zero issues, ive heard that the update that now rolls out stock out of the box has fixed the issues. either way, the G2x is rock solid for me ive owned it since June, and have put everything from CM7, EB, Weapon and everything in between, I really love how Weapon G2x is and use it as my daily.
I would say Sensation. Build quality, more development, and QHD screen
It has the same CPU as the SGS2 BTW (S3) It has better support for Cyanogenmod also
If the tmo SGS2 had a Exynos cpu, I would have chosen it.
Don't listen to the bias fanboy...get the SGSII. Read the official review on androidcentral...they notice no difference between the international SGSII and the T-mobile version. Oh wait..they did notice the bigger more beatiful screen!

I would say Sensation. Build quality, more development, and QHD screen
It has the same CPU as the SGS2 BTW (S3) It has better support for Cyanogenmod also
If the tmo SGS2 had a Exynos cpu, I would have chosen it.

Unless you see something I do not, just looked at the sensation forum at cyanogenmod forum, and there isn't even an Alpha for cm7 officially out for it...
Although the T989 isn't even officially supported at all either....
I got sensation cause of quality. Too plastic with samsung for me but both are great phones. Go to a store and try them out. If you only wanna go for hardware go for sgs2.
I just switched from a HTC Nexus running CM7 nightlies, to a T-Mobile SGS2 on Friday. Disappointed in the ROMs that are out there now and general lack of development - I'd done some half ass'd research before picking it up, I was looking at it and the Amaze 4g, and thought it had some better support.
That being said, rooted, put Clockwork and flashed Juggernaught on it Friday night, it has been working flawlessly. I would highly recommend it.

Juggernaunt added alot of cm features from touchwiz. I am using it myself. Since besides the cm alpha from slayher the rest of the roms are kang from juggernaunt. I think slayher had a post that cm9 is in development now.

I've heard the rumors of CM9, and the supposed facebook posts, but I haven't been able to find anything substantiating it. I hope so, I'd love to get some CM ICS love on.

Don't listen to the bias fanboy...get the SGSII. Read the official review on androidcentral...they notice no difference between the international SGSII and the T-mobile version. Oh wait..they did notice the bigger more beatiful screen!

seriously?
800x480 on a 4.5" screen is good for you?
to me a true SGS2 is the international version.
what the hell were executives at Tmous thinking?
atleast with the Senny you get a higher resolution screen and good build quality.
for crying out loud...
I was very close to getting a Sensation...until I found out half the phones have dust issues due to a manufacturing defect.
Knowing that, I just had to go with an AMOLED screen (no dust issues). I didn't feel like spending $500 on a SSG2, so I just bought a Vibrant for $180 on eBay. I get to play with ICS and the phone's not too bad.
I also don't think I can go back to an LCD phone ever again. lol

There is not a big difference in resolution from qhd to 800x480. I don't know why people act like your using vga resolution stretched out on a 60 inch screen. Also the htc has had ridiculous hardware failures. Like dust underneath the screen and two different manufacturers for screens. The power button has also been know to sink in. Just because it's made out of metal doesn't mean it's a better phone.
If you want more development go with the sensation if you want a big phone with less development go with Samsung galaxy s2.

noticeable when reading ebooks or text in general.
also, edges are crisper on pics in general, less pixelation too.
I notice these things and it would drive me nuts. (one of the reasons why I opted for the Senny instead of the SGS2)
perhaps some people can't... way the human eye perceive things differ slightly I guess from person to person.
anyway, I've had zero issues with my phone. no dust under the screen, no issues with my power or volume button.
amount of defects are actually far less then it really is I would bet.
it's just people that have problems are vocal whereas people do not aren't.
from what I read, HTC has fixed all the issues. just the initial run had some I guess.
mine is from the first run. pre-ordered and received the day of release.

Uhh, yes there is. Completely different processor. You have a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon instead of the Exynos in the Sprint, AT&T, and International version. While it's no slouch, it doesn't even come close to the Exynos in terms of GPU capabilities. If you're gonna get the GSII, get a REAL GSII. No disrespect, it's a great phone and I'm sure has a great community, but again, completely different internals. It doesn't have the Mali 400 GPU.

He said they didn't notice any difference, he didn't say that there wasn't a difference. The 1.5 gHz Qualcomm vs. the 1.2 gHz Exynos was pretty close/the same in day to day usage, doesn't mean it will in benchmark tests.
