the latest "official" CM is Cyanogenmod 7.1(although there's a 7.1.1 for the thunderbolt.
there probably will be an 8, and possibly based off of ICS... but i haven't heard about CM8 yet myself.

For no particular reason actually, he's just talking out of his well informed arse. If the sources will be released we're very likely to get it. Otherwise if this ends like the Honeycomb pile of crap, horrible and with no public sources, i'll just trash my SGS2 and switch to WP7, never looking back.
As of right now there are no plans for CM8. The next version is to be CM9 (Per Koush)
when will icecream release?
Lol at this thread.
First of all, there is no CM8. It will be CM9 as said above.
Secondly, there are no ETAs. Never. But it is normal to wait a good amount of time between AOSP and the first CM build.
First rule of CM: don't ask for ETA's.
i tot have CM9 ??
1st Rule of Cm
We all know No eta's for CM
This thread is awesome
When it's done....
When its done , it will be ready and bring more than 2 million users to their roms
there isn't a honeycomb source, so not until then
CM8 was reserved for Honeycomb, but as we know the source wasn't released. CM9 will be based off ICS, and the source has been released for both now!
Thanks Google for the early xmas pressie!

Do any of our awesome developers plan on working on a cm9 port once source for ics is released?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
I bet the real devs here will work on there own roms when source is released instead of kanging cyanogenmod.
I really hope someone will!
Since my SGS II runs with CM7, i'd love to see it on my TF.
Edit:

I hope there will be a "official" Team for building CM9 for the TF, not a simple Kang.
Why not contribute? I'm not aware of CM's development model but I'm sure they would appreciate help, or say tablets should FO.

Some of the CM devs got TF's so yes, we will most probably get official release in the first wave

It's great news if you have an SGSII, which they released the ICS kernel source to.

Also consider that the International sgs2 uses the Exynos421x processor, where as the sgs4g uses the intrepid-hummingbird S5PC110 processor. Totally different.
7TimesCursed just gave me a tip that will help me move forward with CM7. (something I was hung up on)
CM9 is also still under development. A port would mean a buggy phone.
An ICS port would indeed be better.
After CM7 port is done, I still have plans to rebase our phone specific kernel stuff to the samsung aosp kernel. That my help us port to the 3.0.1 kernel that ICS uses. This is still a ways off, and hopefully by then CM9 will stabilize.
To the future!

No worries! I was trying to be more informational.
I'm pretty new to LG G2x, and just wondering if it's even possible to have a ROM based on Android 3 or even 4?
Android 3.0 is only for tablets. So in other words, no. However, several 4.0 ROMs are in the G2x development section such as AOKP and Hellfire Sandwich. Just warning you that they're not as stable as 2.3 ROMs (at least for now.)

3, no. 4, yes and there's already a couple in the dev section.

Nope.
Jelly bean will be what ics was supposed to do, which was to defragment the os which we know as android and let two become 1. Meaning tablet and smartphone integration, ive read on google that jellybean will support both platforms.

Well, I have a G2X with ICS, and an ASUS Transformer running ICS as well, so the "integration" you speak of is happening now. I'm sure there can be refinements, but the OS version is the same; this isn't a feature waiting for the next version, unless I'm just missing what you're trying to say.

I feel like it'll be more like a Froyo -> Gingerbread type change in the looks department.
Rather than a Gingerbread -> Honeycomb type deal.

okey guys this is a question bugging me what are the exact requirments for ice cream sandwitch and jelly bean
i know that most devices with ics will be compatible with jb too but what are the exact min requirments on which it will be stable
Check the forums for the ROM and it should say. But you need to have a supported phone, something like a g1 would probably not be supported
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda app-developers app
G1 actually supports ICS and there is at least 1 active dev working on JB for D/S.
Anything can technically support it.. it's just a matter if it has good enough hardware to run it as well as it is advertised.

Do you have a link for that? I own a G1 and am running CM 7.2. I'm thinking i'll install cm9 when its stable but if there is a ICS mod i'd give that a try

It'll run on virtually anything. The HTC Desire C comes with ICS as stock and it runs it fine.

Don't. There's a video of it on YouTube, and it is so laggy I don't see how anyone could bear it. Also, screen rotation doesn't work (stuck on landscape). Many other bugs as well.
The G1 is dead. That one ICS ROM was its final breath. There will be no stable CM9, where did youu get that from?

Lol, that was jcarzz's port (wasn't even compiled from source with the correct libs).
There's a CM9 rom (compiled from source) that's pretty stable, but with a few integral things not working.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647493

Some hardware differences (mt3g has larger nand partition, no kb) but basically the same.. They can even interchange radios and spl's.
