I have a sim & security unlocked Sprint phone touch pro 2 that we use on the AT&T network, USA. It works well, and registers with AT&T, but then after a bit it gets dropped, and pops up asking if you want to register with the network again. My friend has the same thing, and we are using different ROMs, and have tried different radios, but we both have this same issue. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this issue, maybe a registry edit or something?
thanks.
I'm also curious about this. I'm on Verizon and was given the phone to keep from my last employer and my new one uses AT&T. I haven't done enough digging yet but wanted to *bump* this thread as I'm looking to keep my CDMA VZN phone and use it on AT&T permanently and wanted to know if there are others who have done this already.
*Anyone had success with using their CDMA phone with AT&T/Tmobile without GSM disconnecting as the OP mentions?

wooties, I read somewhere where the verizon touch pro2 works for AT&T GSM in the us, but not sure where. Search xda and ppcgeeks. I have the Sprint touch pro 2.
I just answered this one in another thread, so here is a copy and paste...
With your AT&T SIM in you probably need to set to manual network instead of automatic so it stays connected to AT&T and doesn't try to flip back to CDMA - if you've already one this, then someone else will have to jump in, but the settings are:
All Settings > Personal > Phone > Network (tab) > Mode of Operation = GSM/UMTS Only
This should keep it from jumping back to Sprint and then back to AT&T where it asks you to register again...
Remember though, with a CDMA world phone, you will only get 2G coverage here with your data as the 3G radio is a different frequency.
Hopefully that does the trick - and if not, someone else jump in and save them quick!
Well I am new to this forum, so hopefully this is posted in the correct area...if not maybe it will be moved to where it needs to be...anyways...
I just switched to Verizon and purchased an Incredible, which I love (another topic).....But now I have a question about PRLs. Seems that my main "work" location is not in normal coverage, and I got much better Sprint service.
I called the local techs, (who have upgraded PRLs on other verizon phones that my friends have with Excellant results) and they said that "smartphones" can not use this "hybrid" PRL.
So what is a hybrid PRL. Can it be one that is "not" offical? Or is it just older? And why wouldn't it work with a smartphone?
Any clarifications or suggestions are welcome...btw I tried a XDA topic="Flashing the VZW/Alltel Hybrid PRL( Helps a lot for some !)" with no improvement service improvement. I think they use a "sprint" tower in this "Hybrid" PRL.
why dont you just switch to a a hybrid prl to see if it works. if it does not work switch back to your old prl.
Well the local tech will not load the PRL on my phone...He says it wont work with the "?smartphones?" so thats why I have not tried it. Looking on my friends phone <non-smartphone> the PRL is listed as 50697, which I do not have access too.
The newest PRL that is currently on my phone is 65132, which was received via the normal *228...
I'm still confused about the following.
1. When they say "hybrid" prl do you know if this is referring to an old prl? Or a custom one some tech modified?
2. Also if I use another PRL is it possible to get any hidden charges? (ie if I try some older PRLs.)
3. Are verizon customers allowed to "Roam" off of Sprint towers?
4. Can I personally rip the 50697 PRL off of another phone? (ie VX5500)
Thanks again for any suggestions or help.
I have successfully flashed the HTC Evo 4G and 3D (CDMA Sprint) to Page Plus Wireless! The only issue I am currently having is Picture Messages. All else PERFECT! I will be posting the methods shortly. I own my own computer repair store in Tacoma, Washington and love working on these roms. Also Flashed Droid2 Global to Simple Mobile (Tmobile, ATT as well) and the Virgin mobiles Optimus V to Page Plus! All LEGAL. Flashing to Boost and Virgin Mobile is illegal as ESN change is Illegal whether you own the donor phones or not. The world in computer business is now evolved in these Mobile devices so expect much more in developement! Go XDA! Oh, if anyone got PICTURE MESSAGING working on the programming side, PLEASE REPLY and tell me how! Thanks. This new thread is to help you techs get moving on the real point in CDMA programming.
All you have to do is configure the MMS settings specific to the carrier.
Sent from my Droid 3 on AT&T with Unlimited Data
Tried that by pressing ##3282# and going into advanced settings on the Evo4G and still nothing. Must be missing some one thing. Any ideas? I got the link to work using goSMS but still no picture when sent. Just says "sending" and fails after 20 minutes or more. Trying to perfect that one last issue on page plus programming. Already figured out the roaming problem on the Evo 3D but the Picture messages is the issue on any CDMA Phone I program to Page Plus.

This is my first post. I tried to find the answer to this question. I searched this site and could not find my senario. Maybe I am inept at searching. Feel free to point me to the correct post, but read below entirely before doing so.
Phone: Original EVO 4g Sprint
Background:
I initially was with Sprint and then moved to Cricket now back to Sprint
1. I have completed part of the the PRL update easily found on this site and my phone reads 60650 for the PRL as the thread indicates. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=937652
2. I tried the RUU method as well
3. factory reset using ##codes#
Between the following 3 methods I was able to get the PRL updated.
I can make calls and receive texts. Phone even works on 4g........ BUT NO 3G coverage. I do not live in a 4G coverage area. I simply traveled to a 4G area to see if that part of my phone was working.
My phone still reads Cricket on the swipe to unlock answer calls function. When I make calls it reads Cricket but I am on the Sprint network.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Starting this October, PagePlus is offering 4G/LTE. Initially, I was assuming that all I need to do is plug in an LTE SIM card and activate account, and all will be peachy. However, it seems that by flashing phone to pageplus when it looks like a 3g device, I have messed up some radio settings, and verizon provisioning doesn't work, phone repeatedly keeps trying to call *228. Contrary to that, the other S3, which I didn't flash does not call at all, but instead pops up message box stating that the phone is being programmed, and after a couple minutes it's online . I do not remember what exactly did I program, it was awhile ago . Pageplus support knows that problem, and they are advising anybody who wants to go LTE to bring up an unflashed phone, saying the flashed one won't work
There are folks on kitty forums who offer remote de-flashing for 30 bucks, but no description what actually they do. Does anyone know what the process is? I can get my phone into QPST/DFS. Anyone knows what to do next?
UPDATE: see post #3 for solution
Can't help you with deflashing, but I will tell you that my local page plus vendor did mine for free and it only took him about 5-10 minutes. Maybe yours would do the same. Just a thought.

I guess it indeed is simple once you get to QPST mode. I used DFS to program, and the only setting I had to change was RuimConfig = RuimOnly (from NV_ONLY), see screenshot attached. Did not work on 4.0 firmware which I tried to use first, but worked fine on 4.2.1 and 4.1.2.
I got a sim card for my phone. All I did was verify that my phone was on RuimOnly (it already was), then I contacted PagePlus to activate my simcard (you're supposed to do this before you put it in your phone, they say) and they remotely programmed the phone, everything went smoothly. I have 4g data now, no "unflashing" required. Pretty easy. :good:
You put it on your phone before, you want this set up, then you can use the phone, so no problem.
Confirmed
I can confirm this works. I switched 2 samsung galaxy note 2 SCH-i605 from 3g to 4g.
The phones were originally flashed over to pageplus using wireless workshop. This puts them on pageplus as 3g phones. They drop the last digit of the MEID so it is a 14 digit code (3g) instead of 15 digit for 4G.
Here's what I did to get 4G LTE working.
Ordered a pageplus SIM card from pageplus
put the simcard in the phone
Used DFS to change RUIM from NV_Only to RUIM_only
Contacted Pageplus on chat and had them change my phone from 3g to 4g. I'm not sure exactly what they did, but I gave them the 15 digit MEID and the SIM ICCID (printed on the sim card you get, or look in settings, about device, details or something like that, you know where to look. ) The customer service rep said that what you need to tell them is you want to change a 3g phone to 4g. I told them it was back to standard firmware just to make them happy. It seems the RUIM changes is all you need.
Voila! Reboot the phone, give it a minute - it connects to 4G and then disconnects and looks like it has failed, but give it a minute and it comes up with 4G LTE and speedtest.net confirms it is blazing fast.
Loving it!
This is only required for a verizon phone that has been flashed in the past to make 3g work on Pageplus. Not needed on contract phones from verizon that are originally 4g.
Happy downloading!

Gift for a friend
hi everyone,
I have a few questions based on my circumstances. I just deactivated a S3 Verizon from PagePlus which was flashed to 3g. I would like to hand my phone off to a friend as he's running a Droid X (!).
1. From what I understand to "unflash" I need to use DFS (cdmatool.com) and set Ruim config to RuimOnly. However, I believe the phone needs to be in QPST mode? I'm not entirely sure how to do this. Can someone point me in the right direction?
2. Since I already deactivated the phone, when my friend tries to re-activate on pageplus (with a new SIM), do we need to contact PP and tell them this device is now 4g?
3. Does it matter that I have a custom ROM running 4.3? I don't think so, but would like confirmation.
I really don't want to mess up this gift.
Thanks for any and all advice!

In general, this is done via USBSettings dialog, see if this thread helps you to get this menu enabled: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2227576
