[i9003][2.3.5][XXKPM] WiFi Issue after Firmware Update - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

After using I9003XXKPE for quite sometime, I updated to the I9003XXKPM firmware and found the following Pros and Cons:
Pros:
1. Better Touch Sensitivity. Very fast and slick.
2. HomeScreen and AppDrawer Auto-Cycle i.e. if you have 3 home screens, you do not have to press the Home button or go like 3-2-1 to navigate to the HomeScreen. You can straight go to 1-2-3-1-2.....
3. Improved GPS
4. Blue under-glow in menu in vertical scroll. Visually appealing.
5. Big improvement in voice recognition.
Cons (BUG):
1. Intermittent WiFi Disconnection. Almost Once Every minute.
2. WiFi goes into sleep (most of the times) when the sceen is turned off. (With the WiFi always ON policy in Settings)
The Update Procedure Followed: See Here
Since this is a Samsung Official ROM, Requesting users to leave feedback if they are facing similar issues.

Tq anyway you should post this feedback under XXKPM thread..do not open new thread because this is not Development thread. Kindly please read the forum rules.. thanks

Please excuse me AmirolAhmad for creating a new thread. I am new to this forum and have not gone into the details of the forum rules.
Also this is a serious issue with i9003 which many people are facing after update to 2.3.5 XXKPM and needs resolution.
But, I will remember to create threads in the proper place. Regards.

@Sono, Err--the link in OP is made by me -o.o- Look at the guide. LOL I've used the same flashing method, and so have other's but certainly some units have differences when it comes to this, hardware vs software incompatibility is what my last call would be. XXKPH works fine for me. Don't worry this is not an issue only for I9003, I9000 has numerous complains along with other phones of 2.3.5's Wi-Fi issue

i have the same issue too. hard to update any of my apps from the marketplace. gets disconnected almost every time and then download fails. have we found any solution yet?

I also have a big issue, but hapened after restoring a nandroid backup from kpm, now i cant start wifi, it says error, also when i use the command* #*#526#*#* it cant load the driver.... what can i do?
Thanks!

LOL. How could I miss that.
Firstly, Thank you Misledz for such a wonderful thread on Guide to Firmware update on i9003.
Secondly, I am unable to understand how the WiFi resets on this firmware.
You have mentioned hardware-software compatibility issue but "this" XXKPM 2.3.5 Firmware is an official Samsung and is meant for all i9003 handsets.
There are no customizations or Porting involved. So how? Please help me understand. Thanking you in advance.

no problems here.
wifi works fine.
always flash 2X

i have same issues and try two times flash.
wish me luck.

Actually the wifi issue pertains with some hardware's, Even if i flashed twice I doubt it will work. But will attempt it regardless.
@sonopixy, Well put it this way, Samsung fixes one thing, breaks another ;P There are driver's that have a compatiblity range. Probably the hardware code for our WiFi didn't match or isn't compatible.

i've already tried flashing more than just twice :-( does not work. all the more reason for us to look forward to CM i suppose. and to those whose wifi is working fine, glad for you! no offense, but it would be really good if someone came up with help/suggestion/solutions instead of just reporting that its working fine for you, because we already know that! LOL

I have not encountered Wifi issue till today. What kind of bug it is? You mean you lose wifi signal and you have to reboot the device to get it working again, or it will connect automatically after some time?

Wifi network disconnect/connect always on 1-2 min, i see this issue only on kpm rom. Big file canot be downloaded via wifi. Local lan on es explorer costantly reconnect and lose remotely folder.....etc

Can't send messages

Hello,
i've a nexus s with cm9 installed, and until now it was running very well... i don't know what happened, but i flashed another rom, and when i made the restore to cm9 again, i can't send text messages. Can receive calls, make calls, receive sms, but can't send... Any solution out there? Thank you...
*sorry, i didn't notice that was a Q&A in nexus S department, if someone could move this post to there i'll apreciate...
Someone? please?
Probably some issue with your radio.
Have you tried to flash another one?
Did u try to toggle on and off the airplane mode, or play with your connection settings?
I had the cm9, and then i gave a try to miui rom.. but in the miui i flashed a radio that i found here in xda.. after that i return to cm9 and found the sms issue... then i have made a clean install with cm9 but the problem continue.. flashed to bigxie rom apex and same problem... do u know a good radio that works well here in Portugal? Btw thanks for the help..
- i tried that with airplane mode, and tried to modify some config but can't solve this...
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
That's really weird..Sorry but I don't know which is the best radio since I don't own any Nexus S, but you can search in the Nexus S section.
By the way, have you tried to remove your battery, SIM card, sd card from your phone, then put them back and reboot?
Leave the phone without battery for 10-15min first.
It does solves many issues sometimes.
I tried what u said but without success...
I've to try another radio and check if it works... thanks again.. how can i give a thanks to you? (i allready saw in front of my eyes Thanks)

well by heavy i mean it has some glitches when opening apps and the wireless takes time to connect sometimes an error word located near the small box when you check the wireless from the setting. two days ago i upgraded the firmware from kies directly to XXKP3, pda:XXKPH but when it reached 57% i had to leave the house for an hour and when i returned the internet was down and the upgrade supposedly finished. some changes in the interface like unlocking and calling but the same issues above remained. how can i check if the firmware were probably upgraded and my pervious question how to fix the glitches. i know this is too much to ask my friend.
thank you

[Q] HELP! SGS3 AOKP ROM no signal when receiving calls

Hi, I'm new to XDA so please forgive my noobyness. I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy SIII (white, unlocked) here in Singapore. Since then, I've installed the latest stock roms, then tried out aosp custom roms, and finally settled with aokp after flashing CM9.
My problem is that whenever I receive a call and answer it, my signal suddenly disappears (no signal bars with a tiny "x" mark). Whenever I make a call, I dont hear the ringing tone. I cannot hear the person im calling or calling me, and I learned that the same is true for the other end. After we end the call (which never really happened), the signal goes back to full bars, which is my true signal strength (i have excellent signal almost all the time).
I can also send messages without any problems and connect with my data plan. It's just the calls. Not sure when it started. Probably last time I flashed an original stock rom, or started using custom roms. Please help, its killing me slowly.
Thanks
Cm9 for your phone is still under development of I'm not wrong.. Hence there can be bugs in it and that's the reason you are facing signal drop issue..
Report this in your forum so that it will be rectified.
However, flash a stock ROM and see if it is a faulty software or fault in your phone..

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, XDA keeps telling me that I'm still new here (less than 10 posts) so I can only post in the general and Q&A forums, and not the development forums. And yes, I'm currently trying to clean up and install the latest stock rom. I'll report back on the progress. Any good soul out there who can notify the AOKP guys about this will receive a cookie.

Okay..
I guess there is problem in your hardware.. Do one thing, flash the latest firmware available for your region and take it to your Samsung service center.. They will rectify the issue..
NOTE: before going to service center make sure that you have reset your flash counter using triangle away software.. Or else your phone warranty will be void..

Also wish you would upload LJ9... I understand that you're trying to provide an incentive for devs though lol.. but it will come out eventually I guess...
Anyways, u gonna tell us how you got the rom? Leaked to you by an insider?
EDIT: looks like the kernel has the same changelog as LJ3/LJ7, even though it has a diff build date. I'm guessing the rom changelog prob isn't much different too then.
EDIT2: Confirmed legit. THANK YOU BUDDY
guys you really got to stop this fascination about every new release that comes out, they probably all have the same Changelog which means they are the same , so whats really the point of flashing them if they are doing nothing different to your phone. LOL I used to be like this untill I realised whats the point, If I change something in my rom which requires me to reflash this is the only time I will change as I am already reflashing anyway. But I wouldnt bother reflashing a whole new firmware thats exactly the same for no reason. its pointless
Oh its just I9305XXALJ9 and not I9305XXLJ9 what you told in other post
So nothing is new
P.S. TS You can change the build number by your self and make a I9305XXLJ9 and try to troll some people
Come on people stop knocking others. Someone earlier said they wouldn't bother with XXALJ7, now they are on it.
Thank you OP. Keep them coming as you get them. Lol!

Kind of agree here but J4 did have a broken data icon and possibly H+ connection issues which was fixed in J7 afaik.
Also, most people do not know what the differences are in the releases until someone downloads and checks!
Flashed modem over lj7, and works fine.

[Q]ICS Improvements

Hey guyz, I have been on stock GB 2.3.5(India) for the last year. Been reluctant to switch to ICS, as people have mentioned gaming issues. I searched but couldn't find a single post that points out the improvements in ICS over GB in Galaxy R. Is it worth switching to ICS? Sorry if I sound dumb, but I don't know much about this. I see that we have CM10 but I'm new to this and not yet ready for it as I'm worried about warranty and stability. It would be really helpful if someone would be kind enough to point out the improvements in ICS n is gaming really laggy? What other issues are there compared to GB? Sorry for being too jumpy and anxoius.
Yes gaming is laggy. On the other hand, scrolling has improved manifold in ICS, many features of ICS like
Inbuilt data usage
New settings menu
Last but not the least, access to apps compatible with ICS!
All this can be experienced, in case u plan to upgrade

Have anyone tried Official Indian ICS??
I have a very basic question.
The ICS (India) OTA upgrade is 240mb while the one to be flashed via Odin is 617 mb. Why this discrepancy?
Will there be any kind of difference between the two with regards to phone performance?

The OTA update just has the difference between the previous and new version of software and is compressed. Whereas Odin tar contains the whole package of software. Also, Odin tar (approx 600MB) when compressed, comes down in size (Approx 300MB).

Been testing indian ics for past few days, but the battery life is really bad. Anyways thanx for ur inputs. From some posts I've seen that the polish ICS is the best so far, I mean fewer game lags were reported. Is this true? Can someone confirm? I may switch to it if thats the case, until we have a stable CM.
How does one check if there is the emmc bug in the OTA ICS India update? Is there a simple way of checking for the same?

Wipe the Data in CWM and restart it, if your mobile is working fine then there is no eMMC bug else you are effected and you have successfully bricked your mobile (Simple way to check the eMMC bug )......
ok jokes apart Samsung I9103 Kernel source it self is having this bug so all the Stock kernel's will have it....

Weird. Ive never faced any problem.with any of the roms. (Stock or Custom) except on power up
Tried XWLP2, XXLQ9, ZSLPD, CAMP ROM, PAC ROM, BB ROM 2.1, CM10
No such problem.
And on the GB INDIAN version...2 visits per week to the SSC from DAY TWO. I started hating galaxy R. But then the Company Owned SSC guys made my life easier and repaired and tested my phone for three days and put some other GB (as they told me) ^_^
I love my Royale now :')
Buddy bdw i would recommend you to get your network cable replaced/checked for once. These network disconnections can mean the hardware being faulty. (at times) (scary)
Has happened to me once on day two of buying galaxy R.
Sent from my GT-I9103 using xda app-developers app
Well when i ment signal disconnections, it is not about data internet but about the network for calls.
I had described the problem 'as i can see' in the thread below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31787563
Also see the "post issues in ICS" thread under General section where I am testing a solution for this as suggested by Vikesh and MJ Vikram.
Sent from my GT-I9103 using xda premium
Buddy this is exactly what was happening to me.
The network came and vanished like anything.
The clock (being set by the network's time) used to run to the current time on receiving network.
The SSC guys changed my network cord for this problem right in front of me. (It is a blue wire in our phone)
Since then my signals have nsver gone 0. Theyre always somewhere between -60 to -89 dbm.
I was just suggesting that it might be a hardware issue.
Sent from my GT-I9103 using xda app-developers app
Buddy I never thought it could be a hardware issue since i never had this even once either on GB stock rom or the NeoRom v3 which i used for nearly year. While I have always had it on stock ICS or Mazel 2 with ardatdat kernal v4.1 and above. There are others too who have had this and named it the 'call bug'. I am now testing with v4.0.
Unless....its a hardware issue unmasked by the said kernal. Lets see.
